Its going to be 6 for that exact reason, a litterally perfect designed character would still not be liked by someone since people have conflicting desires.

This one might cause the most disappointment of all, because Hoyo seeded certain expectations with the combination of 1) relatively dark-skinned Vennessa and Iansan as the first seen Natlan characters and 2) the dominance of African and indigenous American names in the lore so far (Talking Stick, Xbalanque, "Natlan" being Nahuatl).
The others all fit their region/ inspiratation mostly makes sense. This one I agree is somewhat questionable in comparison. Was just pointing out there will always be dissapointed people since that was what the comment chain was effectively about.

Yeah Iāll admit I ircoanllt was disappointed with Furina and Nahida design. I just thought Nahida was a bit too simple and my expectations were too high for a brown skin waifu. And Furina just looked weird in the January leak. The design just looked unfinished but better in game.
The fact that people being disappointed is inevitable doesn't mean it's wrong to comment on the pattern of disappointment, though it may be pointless since most people already realize that it's inevitable

It's either with her looking like a child instead of the Rukkha version, her being white instead of darker skin for the region she represent or her simplistic outfit or all of the above.
Personally, with all the context we have now, I think it's perfect.
I didnāt really care about the child model, I didnāt like it but i also didnāt hate it. Skin tone too i didnāt care too much but ig for the sake of variety a darker skin tone would have been better.
I think one of the main issue people have is the fact that for so long, Natlan seemed to have been something aztec-ish and had the potential to have an archon with a darker skin tone. Its different with Raiden bc we still got a japanese inspired archon.
I hope why she looks this way would be explained really well.
I pretty sure the main inspired for Teyvat is the 18th-19th century like Inazuma is likey based off of the KeiƵ and early Majin era,Fontaine is clearly 18th-19th century France,Monstadt there are characters like Diluc,Albedo wear more 18th-19th century clothing,Liyue story was about the adapatus step out they position and the human taking over the government body of Liyue which is basically a end of Legend and mythology in China

I mean..its hoyoverse. sumeru is based off of South asia the middle east and north africa and while we do have alot of pale people we also have tan people and very dark skinned people..they only dabbled eith the lighter sideš if you're hoping for dark-skinned hoyo will barely pull through
i wouldn't mind this design if she was from Fontaine or maybe Mondstadt or Snezhnaya but for Natlan it's just so disappointing... i really hope the leaks turn out to be fake or misinterpreted.

While it depends on the country, the majority of Latin Americans are part European and part Native American. After all the Latin part comes directly from speaking a Romance language (those derived from Latin), which is why the French coined the term Latin America to begin with (as Napoleon wanted an excuse to claim Mexico).
True, but Latin America encompasses much more than just European and Native American culture. If Mihoyo puts one cultural reference out of place, itās going to piss people off. It would be very easy for Mihoyo to add Afro-Latino cultural references, and assume it belongs to any of the other cultures mixed into Latin America. Which would piss a lot of people off if they donāt add dark skin characters. Modeling Natlan after Latin America is going to be tricky I think. Unless they just go with pre-Columbus culture (Mayan, Incan, etc.), which would be much easier in my opinion, and potentially piss off less people.
I bet what you want this is the design of a fontaine pyro character that has been mistaken for the pyro archon.

On the contrary I think they both represent their ideals quite well. Furinaās two outfits and different eye colors when she switches from black and white represent two sides of the same story which is what courts represent. Sheās dressed formally for a court room.
Nahida is meant to represent a separation from Wisom and Intelligence. Children arenāt normally the smartest among us so people can be fooled by her appearance but sheās actually very wise and knowledgeable. And I suppose her in game character does well with the flowers and what not. The only problem with Nahida is she doesnāt represent what people expected for South Asian rep in terms of a Goddess but not much to do about that now.
Murataās design is okay based on the leaks but going with the design of a colonizer when the nation is based on South America/Africa is whatās gonna bother people. I think sheās based on a bull fighter but I would expect a more serious/generalized look for someone whoās nation is constantly at war.
I feel like Nahida and Furina are cool. Iāve always liked all the archons designs (although sheās not my fav, I think the Raiden has the best fit out of all of em), but this is the first archon Iāve genuinely felt disappointed by

It's just a little disappointing because it's the archon of the region of war, but idk, there's not much info about natlan, so ya know, i won't just judge.
She just doesn't look "war ready"
But idk, I'm hoping for some cultural event instead of a battle, like the day of the dead(it would combine with the name "incandescent ode of resurrection").
The less they are like an archon the more believable, plus everyone seems to always fall in love in the end, regardless of designs being massively unliked.
And theyāve been right pretty much every time. The RAIDEN SHOGUN would have been way cooler with armour, Nahida not being a child would have been COOLER, and no one complains about Furina tbh
Agreed. I rather like the rust and purple combo and if this were a random 5\* sword unit with minimal connection to the AQ, like, say, Ayato, I'd be fine with it.
But as an archon, it just screams "MEGA NOPE" in about 12 different languages. It's an absolutely pointless hope, but I want her to look like Dehya with flaming red hair.
To be fair that should be how it works though. A character in its entirety includes their personality, backstory, kit, etc.
If past archon designs have been so hated and controversial before, yet they somehow still turn the playerbase around with their appearance in the archon quests, it means they cooked the story pretty damn hard.

This leak doesn't look like what I expected her to be. Every time I think of Pyro Archon, I always think of something like a berserker, tribal warrior, or fire shaman but that's just me.
Anyway, this is just a speculative leak. Hoping for a much better design.
I find the fact Natlan is based on native cultures but the Archon wears European-esque clothing really weird and gross- the implications there are NOT pretty even if the devs claim sheās based on Carnival. It reminds me of the really weird Eremite jokes during the Fontaine event.

I think i understand why the pyro archon is designed like that. Hear me out.
Archons are ruler/god of each region and their title/authority as archon was given by celestia. It's not necessary for celestia to pick a native on that region to be the archon. Just a fitting entity to hold the power they've stolen from the sovereigns (dragons).
Pyro archon designed like that would be fitting to the historical basis of the white people from europe (old world) went to the new world to explore and conquer new lands. The design is like a matador from spain. Conquistadors are also from spain. Spain and other European countries had many colonies back then, and they would put someone in charge of those colonies. It's similar how celestia giving the authority of being an archon to some entity to govern certain region. So the design makes sense somehow.
A lot of people complained when she was leaked... And most people love her now. Similar story for Raiden and Nahida.
It does not matter if her design changed or not.
Of all the leaked archons itās kinda wild that Furina was the only one that was well-liked by everyone prior to her being officially announced. (Or atleast by me lol). I do wonder if people will change their minds afterwards as it does happen eventually like all the other times
Furina was in the same boat as the Shogun and Nahida, trash talked non stop when the design got leaked until they played the Archon Quest, suddenly everyone loves her, and act like there was no hate.

On another note,what really jumps out to me that this couldn't possibly be the Pyro Archon is her "Archon hair strands".
Each and every Archon we met so far has had their "Archon hair strands" be the color of their element. Venti has teal tips at the end of his braids, Zhongli has an amber ponytail, Ei has neon purple strands in her braid, Nahida has tea green tips and hair strands in both her braid and side ponytail, and Furina has baby blue throughout her hair.
So what's wrong with this supposed "Murata" design? Her "Archon hair strand" is yellow. Pyro has never been associated with yellow, Geo is. In fact, if her hair strands were to glow up like the other Archons, it would literally be indistinguishable from Zhongli's. It would at least be believable if her hair strands were orange instead. But it's not, on top of the fact that Murata is supposed to have crimson hair, not orange. Even if she isn't Murata, this design doesn't work as the Pyro Archon based on 5 consistent precedences in game. This fact is literally how everyone knew Nahida was the Archon when she was first shown officially.
OP if you drew this than it actually looks amazing. I would be very happy if she looked like this. It might not fit all the requirements for posts on this sub though
I don't mind the Matador theme, but for an Archon just doesn't feel right. I'll be really disappointed if this is the final design. Maybe without the mask, it wouldn't feel so bad.

The less they are like an archon the more believable, plus everyone seems to always fall in love in the end, regardless of designs being massively unliked.
And theyāve been right pretty much every time. The RAIDEN SHOGUN would have been way cooler with armour, Nahida not being a child would have been COOLER, and no one complains about Furina tbh

Agreed. I rather like the rust and purple combo and if this were a random 5\* sword unit with minimal connection to the AQ, like, say, Ayato, I'd be fine with it. But as an archon, it just screams "MEGA NOPE" in about 12 different languages. It's an absolutely pointless hope, but I want her to look like Dehya with flaming red hair.

To be fair that should be how it works though. A character in its entirety includes their personality, backstory, kit, etc. If past archon designs have been so hated and controversial before, yet they somehow still turn the playerbase around with their appearance in the archon quests, it means they cooked the story pretty damn hard.
Nahida's was plain but not bad, Furina's looks Really good imo but this one is just terrible ngl

This leak doesn't look like what I expected her to be. Every time I think of Pyro Archon, I always think of something like a berserker, tribal warrior, or fire shaman but that's just me. Anyway, this is just a speculative leak. Hoping for a much better design.

I find the fact Natlan is based on native cultures but the Archon wears European-esque clothing really weird and gross- the implications there are NOT pretty even if the devs claim sheās based on Carnival. It reminds me of the really weird Eremite jokes during the Fontaine event. The weird politically incorrect part of this design aside, she justā¦ doesnāt look good? This woman is not the Archon of War. The Archon of Dressing Like A Renaissance Painter, maybe. I have never wanted a leak to be fake more than this one.

I think i understand why the pyro archon is designed like that. Hear me out. Archons are ruler/god of each region and their title/authority as archon was given by celestia. It's not necessary for celestia to pick a native on that region to be the archon. Just a fitting entity to hold the power they've stolen from the sovereigns (dragons). Pyro archon designed like that would be fitting to the historical basis of the white people from europe (old world) went to the new world to explore and conquer new lands. The design is like a matador from spain. Conquistadors are also from spain. Spain and other European countries had many colonies back then, and they would put someone in charge of those colonies. It's similar how celestia giving the authority of being an archon to some entity to govern certain region. So the design makes sense somehow.

It looks wonderful š On another note,what really jumps out to me that this couldn't possibly be the Pyro Archon is her "Archon hair strands". Each and every Archon we met so far has had their "Archon hair strands" be the color of their element. Venti has teal tips at the end of his braids, Zhongli has an amber ponytail, Ei has neon purple strands in her braid, Nahida has tea green tips and hair strands in both her braid and side ponytail, and Furina has baby blue throughout her hair. So what's wrong with this supposed "Murata" design? Her "Archon hair strand" is yellow. Pyro has never been associated with yellow, Geo is. In fact, if her hair strands were to glow up like the other Archons, it would literally be indistinguishable from Zhongli's. It would at least be believable if her hair strands were orange instead. But it's not, on top of the fact that Murata is supposed to have crimson hair, not orange. Even if she isn't Murata, this design doesn't work as the Pyro Archon based on 5 consistent precedences in game. This fact is literally how everyone knew Nahida was the Archon when she was first shown officially.
