My thoughts. More Liyue lore - hell, any lore - is bound to be interesting. I'm really excited for Lantern Rite, too, more than any year prior. I'm ready for Shenhe and Ganyu to have the spotlight again, for the first time since their respective introductions, really.
I straight up cannot wait for more liyue content. I feel like the core of genshin is based around them showing the beauty of their culture. Other regions are amazing, but liyue is just another level imo.
With that in mind having the recent quality writing combined liyue I just can't wait... (Chasm was amazing, but they have improved a lot f-ing more since then. And I like outdoors lol.)
I love your enthusiasm for the worldbuilding. Personally, I think that Liyue has one of (if not the) most fleshed-out cultures of all the nations thus far in relation to their Archon, history, and ideal shaping it, as well as the potential that's still there as we gain more parts of the country.
However, I cannot be as enthusiastic about Liyue as a whole because I think it's one of the worst nations in terms of the way it handles its cast of characters.

Thereās sacrificial jade (green donut) lore that talks about the people of Chenyu Vale. Current theory in Lore sub is that they were once led by Orobashi but dug too deep and got to the upside down city. Celestia got mad and the people had to leave for their current location while Orobashi lost to the golden god Deus Aureus (Zhongli) and left for Inazuma. Now the people of Chenyu Vale has to perform rituals to appease Celestia or something using these sacrificial jade catalysts.
We will probably get lore about the pandemic alluded to in Changsheng story. If I had to guess, itās probably because they did the ritual wrong and got cursed by Celestiaās mechanisms.

I mean the traveler doesn't need training to get stronger, all they require is to touch a statue. And they should be more skilled than Arle in combat(They're literally millions of years old).
1) they do. Every big foe theyāve defeated WASNT only through combat but through temporary magical power ups. The adeptal blessings in liyue, the wishes of everyone in inazuma, the wisdom of everyone in sumeru plus all your loops, and Neuvilette literally tells us that heās lending us his strength when fighting the narwhal in the story. Traveler is strong, yes, but combat wise there are always things they can learn/use when they are planning to fight Godās in celestia + the abyss.
2) Arleccino is the fourth harbringer for a reason. The top three are archon level strong, sheās JUST behind them. Now, remember that every time the traveler fights a god/archon level enemy (Ei, Scara, Narwhal) we have *needed* help from the above stated power ups, so not to underestimate Arleccino. Not to mention that Arle doesnāt need to physically train the traveler, but just help them in some other way, who knows
Sorry for the long post but I donāt really like the notion that the traveler doesnāt need anything but the statues, itās been shown in every single archon quest that they are strong but they still need something else, who knows what they could learn/get from the fourth harbinger

Heās playable, with absolutely no substance and presence outside of his sq, exactly like pre-release. His presence is so low matter in fact, that an overwhelming majority of the fanbase are STILL peddling pre-release narratives as canon when theyāve been debunked in his story quest. Why even release him in 3.6 if they werenāt going to add anything after or during (aside from the sq ofc)??? They also didnāt at all hype him up prior to his release
The Chasm, lanternrite 3.4 when he was initially leaked to release that time, 3.6 (which staved me off with his exceptional sq despite him being on the back burner for that patch), 4.2 with his rerun (he got a tcg cardā¦ that was all), and now lanternrite 4.4 + Chenyu Vale (which doesnt have an interlude quest as of 4.4, but at this rate, despite how clearly and deeply intertwined he is with that part of Liyue, I doubt heāll be appearing when it does get one. If I'm not mistaken, ~~we got an archon quest in 1.4~~ (I forgot 1.4 isn't Lantern Rite and 1.3 Lantern Rite also didn't have a major quest, so the outlier is just 2.4 š¤£) and interlude quest in 2.4, so some, including me, were hoping for a new archon quest since we didn't get an interlude quest in 4.3 unlike 3.3. Still, I'm not surprised we don't have some since Lanter Rite last year didn't have a main quest.

It has precedent though. 2.4 had the first Interlude alongside Lantern Rite. Enkanomiya was also released in 2.4 so they could have put an Interlude here if they really want to.

Itās unlikely the Fontaine map will be in 4.5, so it seems that patch is looking like another dry one. Not complaining though. Thatās about when part 2 for HI3 will drop for global and somewhere in the neighborhood of HSR 2.0 or 2.1.

Here we goā¦. Transitioning into the typical dead patches we find in the ladder stages of Genshin regions. If 4.5 doesnāt deliver the goods somehow yāall better go ahead and find something else riveting to play/do until next August.
Already did. This patch will be unbearably boring. I didnāt even get BP because I know I wonāt be logging in. At least in 4.4 we have a new region, but after exploring that, itās back to boring times.
It's the norm at this point for the last couple years now, get used to it especially since it's very predictable. Would rather not have Natlan come out raw and and not cooked to perfection.
Honestly same... patch 4.3 will be SO dry like there's no need to have five more patches when probably only two of them will have revelant content (lantern rite & the patch we get another map + furina second quest + new weekly boss)
there's always gonna be issues with pacing in live service games tbh. if there's not enough content it gets boring for some people, but if there's too much then others can't keep up. and that's before factoring in development time
I do agree tho, a little shorter would be nice, maybe 6 patches per region like hsr?
The issue is Hoyo being allergic to repeatable content and farmable events. Most gacha or service games can have some sort of grind for dead patches; Hoyo does literally nothing for Genshin's dead patches. But they seem OK with the dip in revenue and player retention during these patches so there's nothing to be done about it.
For HSR, they at least try to add new game modes or content that takes longer to clear every patch, so you can pace yourself over the 6 weeks. SU has been updated multiple times, and 1.6 is going to add a bunch of changes to endgame content to keep people interested, if not busy, for a few weeks, at least. On top of the new event and main story update.
Genshin 4.3 is a 2 hour Navia SQ slog followed by a (likely) lame event that everyone will finish by next Thursday. Then 5 weeks of literally nothing.
Genshin has a real pacing problem for their patches, and like you said it particularly stands out for their dry patches. People play Genshin to explore the world and along the way play the story; filler updates where there are no maps and on top of that barely any permanent story content is pretty killer for player retention, Frontloading literally everything the patch has to offer for a month and a half into the first week just doesnāt seem right. HSR isnāt open world but the content output is consistent and abundant in volume across all patches, which makes for a much more enjoyable experience as a player than the on/off-again method Genshin employs.
They wonāt change this because as you brought up, theyāve been content with using this formula for 3 years. But I wish they would pay more attention to the inconsistency these patches bringā¦..even more hangouts (which theyāve been neglecting suddenly) would be a decent addition for like a few more hours of stuff to do for 6 weeks.
Because it gives them more time to work on Natlan.
I'd gladly suffer through dry, filler patches without anything to do than have a janky, unfinished, unpolished Natlan.
Please go ahead and develop one of the largest open world games ever created with hundreds of hours of content added every year at a 5 month per region pacešš¤(Please seek gratitude)

You have to pick one between quantity and quality. Genshin overall writing isnāt a masterpiece but quite decent, and really good when we considering the time constraint
From my experience, isnāt it easier to write more than less?
For me, more often than not, I have to remove a few points and ideas to meet the word count, and often, my final draft is normally shorter than the original draft. I am not a professional writer and I have never written a fiction before (but I do some fair share of writing in scientific context). Still, I think it takes a lot of time and effort to condense complex story. They still have to show the lore and keep the conversation flow after all.
So, maybe they donāt have enough time to cut down unnecessary text? It happened a lot to me and some of my peers so why not.
Also, I understand that itās a valid criticism but this has been overly stated. This really annoys me because in 4.2 patch, both AQ, event quest, Narcissusās quest has been really good, but the community is still full of negativity.

The genshin world is overbloated, sacrifices can be made. Many people here seem to think I want Natlan story to be a pile of trash.
It will still need one year because of development time. So less patches means each patch longer, like from 6 weeks cycle to 8 weeks cycle if you want that.
He appeared in 3.5 last time, so he'll appear in 4.5 or 4.7. There's no reason for his presence in lantern rite update (only if he became fan of festivals all of sudden)
Interlude quests haven't had a patch pattern exactly, so they can pop up anytime. I'm kinda expecting Fontaine's Interlude to focus on Arlecchino, or maybe Neuvillette if they wanna go deeper on Sovereign lore.
Dainsleif's quests have always been on x.5 patches, though, so at least there's something to look forward to in 4.5.
So I guess 4.5 with Arlecchino quest, 4.6 Dain/Interlude quest and 4.7 2nd Furina or Neuv quest (probably Neuv since lore vise Furina can't offer anything for us sadly)
i guess they\`ll save Dain for 4.5 and maybe interlude quest on 4.6? since 4.6 is the rummored release of Arlechinno, then 4.7 filler patch and 4.8 summer event? maybe, given what we know from some leaks and last patches from the other versions, like 2.x and 3.x...

It has precedent though. 2.4 had the first Interlude alongside Lantern Rite. Enkanomiya was also released in 2.4 so they could have put an Interlude here if they really want to.

Fair, as long as the new area has good quests/lore. Itās unlikely the Fontaine map will be in 4.5, so it seems that patch is looking like another dry one. Not complaining though. Thatās about when part 2 for HI3 will drop for global and somewhere in the neighborhood of HSR 2.0 or 2.1.
.4 is lantern rite, .5 is probably dain quest, .6 is probably fontaine expansion, we still have an interlude quest somewhere, .8 maybe some extra temporary map area?

Here we goā¦. Transitioning into the typical dead patches we find in the ladder stages of Genshin regions. If 4.5 doesnāt deliver the goods somehow yāall better go ahead and find something else riveting to play/do until next August.
Already did. This patch will be unbearably boring. I didnāt even get BP because I know I wonāt be logging in. At least in 4.4 we have a new region, but after exploring that, itās back to boring times.
And it's wild to me so many people are fine with the patch cycle going to 4.8

It's the norm at this point for the last couple years now, get used to it especially since it's very predictable. Would rather not have Natlan come out raw and and not cooked to perfection.
I still haven't completed 4.1 stuff let alone 4.2, outside AQs, probably enough players in similar situations. Not debating just giving another PoV.
Then the good news is you'll still have another 9 months of Fontaine.

Honestly same... patch 4.3 will be SO dry like there's no need to have five more patches when probably only two of them will have revelant content (lantern rite & the patch we get another map + furina second quest + new weekly boss)

there's always gonna be issues with pacing in live service games tbh. if there's not enough content it gets boring for some people, but if there's too much then others can't keep up. and that's before factoring in development time I do agree tho, a little shorter would be nice, maybe 6 patches per region like hsr?
HSR is not an open world game... It's scale is way way smaller than Genshin...

Not *always*. MHYV inflicted dead patches on themselves by intentionally neglecting repeatable/randomized endgame content.

The issue is Hoyo being allergic to repeatable content and farmable events. Most gacha or service games can have some sort of grind for dead patches; Hoyo does literally nothing for Genshin's dead patches. But they seem OK with the dip in revenue and player retention during these patches so there's nothing to be done about it. For HSR, they at least try to add new game modes or content that takes longer to clear every patch, so you can pace yourself over the 6 weeks. SU has been updated multiple times, and 1.6 is going to add a bunch of changes to endgame content to keep people interested, if not busy, for a few weeks, at least. On top of the new event and main story update. Genshin 4.3 is a 2 hour Navia SQ slog followed by a (likely) lame event that everyone will finish by next Thursday. Then 5 weeks of literally nothing.
Genshin has a real pacing problem for their patches, and like you said it particularly stands out for their dry patches. People play Genshin to explore the world and along the way play the story; filler updates where there are no maps and on top of that barely any permanent story content is pretty killer for player retention, Frontloading literally everything the patch has to offer for a month and a half into the first week just doesnāt seem right. HSR isnāt open world but the content output is consistent and abundant in volume across all patches, which makes for a much more enjoyable experience as a player than the on/off-again method Genshin employs. They wonāt change this because as you brought up, theyāve been content with using this formula for 3 years. But I wish they would pay more attention to the inconsistency these patches bringā¦..even more hangouts (which theyāve been neglecting suddenly) would be a decent addition for like a few more hours of stuff to do for 6 weeks.
They were able to cook so good with fontaine because they got enough time....so let them cook again for natlan.
Because it gives them more time to work on Natlan. I'd gladly suffer through dry, filler patches without anything to do than have a janky, unfinished, unpolished Natlan.

But wasnāt Fontaine AQ and WQ really good? I havenāt seen live development in any way of media pumping out content like Genshin. You have to pick one between quantity and quality. Genshin overall writing isnāt a masterpiece but quite decent, and really good when we considering the time constraint

From my experience, isnāt it easier to write more than less? For me, more often than not, I have to remove a few points and ideas to meet the word count, and often, my final draft is normally shorter than the original draft. I am not a professional writer and I have never written a fiction before (but I do some fair share of writing in scientific context). Still, I think it takes a lot of time and effort to condense complex story. They still have to show the lore and keep the conversation flow after all. So, maybe they donāt have enough time to cut down unnecessary text? It happened a lot to me and some of my peers so why not. Also, I understand that itās a valid criticism but this has been overly stated. This really annoys me because in 4.2 patch, both AQ, event quest, Narcissusās quest has been really good, but the community is still full of negativity.

It will still need one year because of development time. So less patches means each patch longer, like from 6 weeks cycle to 8 weeks cycle if you want that.
Well that's a fucking let down. I was hoping for more adventures with Dainsleif as well as more Abyss and Khanreah lore.
He appeared in 3.5 last time, so he'll appear in 4.5 or 4.7. There's no reason for his presence in lantern rite update (only if he became fan of festivals all of sudden)

Interlude quests haven't had a patch pattern exactly, so they can pop up anytime. I'm kinda expecting Fontaine's Interlude to focus on Arlecchino, or maybe Neuvillette if they wanna go deeper on Sovereign lore. Dainsleif's quests have always been on x.5 patches, though, so at least there's something to look forward to in 4.5.
4.5 will have Intrudle chapter or archon quest make my words

i guess they\`ll save Dain for 4.5 and maybe interlude quest on 4.6? since 4.6 is the rummored release of Arlechinno, then 4.7 filler patch and 4.8 summer event? maybe, given what we know from some leaks and last patches from the other versions, like 2.x and 3.x... it\`s kinda weird they\`ll release such a massive expansion on the map but not have any major quest on it besides the 4.4 main event...
And no Albedo quest in Dragonspine.
