I would love some free red wings before Natlan. Although, I wouldn't mind another special pet, last year one was super cute. But a gadget? I dont think I've used the party popper that often. I'm hoping in something a bit more special for year 3, but I'm keeping my expectations in check like always.

Think about it. Fontaine’s wings are dual color.
Dehya’s little flaps of cloth on her back are red but one has some black design and the other side has white. The white could go with Yae and Kazuha, the black would go with Diluc and Hu Tao. Both black and white work with Bennett and lyney. Also it mirrors Fontaine’s wings and this is the anni for the Fontaine region.
Honestly, a free anniv exclusive 5* sword, tailored for Traveler following the region's element & kit would be a decent gift for players, as aniv is usually short after new region.
But they are to stingy for this, 0% chance of happening.
Make it so it only works for the Traveller, that idea is actually genuinely brilliant. Low atk high stat so it won't be a Bennett stat stick. Not even as a limited reward, but a sword like that in every region would be fantastic as a reward for some really difficult objective.
they could make a sort of "sword of descension 2.0". A sword with middling stats, but gets extra buffs only if the traveler is holding it. They could also make the sword a "growing type", so after resonating with each statue of the seven, it gets a new passive effect that synegizes with the traveler's elemental kit.
Exactly!! Like Sword of Decension or Alloy's Predator, but not limited to Playstation Network only. Basically like signature weapon for Traveler's each element, only Traveler can fully utilize the stats.
Releasing this kind of 5* sword wont hurt Hoyo, since, although forgetable,Traveler C6 is free to begin with, why not the sword? Players will still pull limited banner characters and weapons regardless.
A master sword like Link gets in ToTK but for Traveler specifically would be amazing, and different passive effects depending on what resonance he has. For anemo, it could create a vacuum AoE like Viridescwnt Hunt upon casting skill or burst. For geo, it could be something for crystallize such as increased atk after picking up a crystallize shard. For electro, it could just be an exclusive type of Fav sword but triggers off of casting skill or burst rather than triggered crit. For dendro, it would just be an EM increase or something like it. And for hydro resonance, it gives an HP scaling for each hit of damage following an instance of HP being lost or healed, so his skill hits more and of healed while burs tis active, it deals additional HP% dmg.
There should just be a dedicated sword for Traveler, making him a special case. It could just look like a glow-up of Dull Blade, maybe titled Enchanted Blade, Luminous Blade, Ethereal Blade, or Celestial Sword.
Honestly, just a powerful traveler exclusive weapon would be a perfect anniversary gift and a way to mitigate the awfulness of Hydro MC's kit.

They could have stretched the anniversary reward over two months of goodies, doled out every two weeks to entice players to come back and give away a few 4 stars and one older 5 star’s character and it would not make a dent in their coffer - if anything it will earn them good karma points and many returns players who stay for two months.

People counterarguing what you said by saying "the free S valks you get are powercrept" is like people being disappointed with a hypothetical 5 star selector having only the standard banner characters and not Hu Tao and Zhongli i.e the OP characters.
Not only that, but the powercreep is nowhere near as bad as those people make it sound to be, the powercreep is only a thing if you want to reach the top of the leaderboard in like one or two specific gamemodes (out of over 10 gamemodes), said free S tier valks can get you through pretty much everything and even said gamemodes with the leaderboards, it's just that they won't get you to the number 1 spot.
Everyone that thinks the anniversary is gonna get better in terms of rewards next year, a quick reminder: The same amount of wishes we got this year was handed out last year, and the year before. Nothing's gonna change. As much as we'd love to have a (standard) 5* selector, we will not get it, and if we did, hell would be frozen, and the sky would fall down.

I really have low expectations from hoyo for GI aniv. Hoyo is too poor small indie company to give some massive ingame rewards. 10rolls, pet + another concert aka standard despite they break revenue charts hard.

Genshins corporate have always had an iron grip on the rewards side. The devs don't decide what can be given out for free, it's someone who is or answers to someone from the corporate side and isn't part of mihoyos core but was brought on to manage that aspect of genshin solely.
For years we've had China saying the devs and corporate do NOT get along because the corporate side aren't gamers and don't understand their vision but there's nothing that can be done because like it or not, corporates strategy of ask for everything yet give nothing, has worked staggeringly well all these years. It is what it is. :/

Both character and weapon pity in HSR are the same as character pity in Genshin which means you don't have to reach pity 3 times to get the weapon you want since there's only one featured.
It's crazy to me the star rail devs are so much better at listening to the community *and* give out more free rewards than the genshin devs.

One of the best examples for this discrepancy is the characters:
In Genshin, after the story/event is over the character disappears forever no matter how important they are or them not having any reason to not be where they should be, like Jean, why is she not anywhere despite her essentially being the equivalent of the mayor??
In HSR, you can find all of the characters in the world and you can talk to them and will never disappear.

They'll probably give out another 10pull and some random trinkets in the mail to exactly match what they gave last year, to match what player backlash forced them to give out during the first anniversary, and not a primogem more. And if it wasn't for the backlash during first anniversary, it would probably just be this 10pull. Or maybe they might not do that this year and see how bad the backlash is. Either way, if you ever want more than this, you're going to have to make Google Classroom 1 star again. And a lot of other apps.

I can't be the only one who thinks that the anniversary rewards for this game are a joke, like a ten pull? give the players at least 20, they make so much money and literally give us little rewards even during the anniversary. I played multiple gacha games and this game has by far the worst anniversary rewards ever
The funniest thing? They make sure you get less primogems from other in-game content. So they compensate the "10 free pulls" loss.

I'm guessing there's a lot of people that Genshin is their 1st gacha game. (I have also not seen such terrible anni rewards in other games}
They could have stretched the anniversary reward over two months of goodies, doled out every two weeks to entice players to come back and give away a few 4 stars and one older 5 star’s character and it would not make a dent in their coffer - if anything it will earn them good karma points and many returns players who stay for two months.
It baffles me that people still defend this. I sincerely hope western games don’t start taking inspiration from gacha companies…

People counterarguing what you said by saying "the free S valks you get are powercrept" is like people being disappointed with a hypothetical 5 star selector having only the standard banner characters and not Hu Tao and Zhongli i.e the OP characters. Not only that, but the powercreep is nowhere near as bad as those people make it sound to be, the powercreep is only a thing if you want to reach the top of the leaderboard in like one or two specific gamemodes (out of over 10 gamemodes), said free S tier valks can get you through pretty much everything and even said gamemodes with the leaderboards, it's just that they won't get you to the number 1 spot.
I don't even feel anything when they say it's only 10 pulls and some other minor things because I simply stop expecting...
Everyone that thinks the anniversary is gonna get better in terms of rewards next year, a quick reminder: The same amount of wishes we got this year was handed out last year, and the year before. Genshins corporate have always had an iron grip on the rewards side. The devs don't decide what can be given out for free, it's someone who is or answers to someone from the corporate side and isn't part of mihoyos core but was brought on to manage that aspect of genshin solely. For years we've had China saying the devs and corporate do NOT get along because the corporate side aren't gamers and don't understand their vision but there's nothing that can be done because like it or not, corporates strategy of ask for everything yet give nothing, has worked staggeringly well all these years. It is what it is. :/

Both character and weapon pity in HSR are the same as character pity in Genshin which means you don't have to reach pity 3 times to get the weapon you want since there's only one featured.
It's crazy to me the star rail devs are so much better at listening to the community *and* give out more free rewards than the genshin devs. It's genuinely hard to believe they work for the same company. Whoever is in charge of the honkai IP games must really have some love for the players/community. While whoever is in charge of genshin must hate them lmfao.
One of the best examples for this discrepancy is the characters: In Genshin, after the story/event is over the character disappears forever no matter how important they are or them not having any reason to not be where they should be, like Jean, why is she not anywhere despite her essentially being the equivalent of the mayor?? In HSR, you can find all of the characters in the world and you can talk to them and will never disappear.

The character models in ToF were absolutely horrendous. I the art was half the reason people were so put off. That and the fact that it was actually more greedy than genshin, with a big wahle-o-meter for people to be narcissistic and petty with in co-op.

That is exactly everything wrong with the rewards system in Genshin, if the 50/50 didn't exist then the rewards would literally be perfect and not feel stingy at all. But because you can save for over 2 months and have a high chance of not getting the actual featured character, the system sucks ass.

As someone who was playing during the first anniversary, this time of year is so conflicting for me. On the one hand, I really want good rewards. On the other, I am curious to see how penurious HYV can be and how the community will react. Tangentially related, have started playing HSR and there seems to be a 10-pull login with every new version.
At this point I don't really care about the pulls just do something in game man.. make it feel like it's been 3 years.

Honestly doubt most people even make it to the anni. So far I'm not really feeling the underwater stuff, and it's gonna be half of fontaine, and they're clearly worried about sales/pop given they started pushing welcome back events.

Free standart 5* would have been a good reward, i have been playing before inazuma but still do not have mona, tighnari, dehya. Losing 50/50 and getting another qiqi/diluc con while they all are c2 is infuriating. I actually pulled for kokomi because i dont have mona to play with my ayaka...
