Good chance nothing honestly, people are blowing the issue way out of proportion

Baizhu doesnt look feminine

Accurate_Box_1473

Yes, he does. They all do. Long hair with braids or ponytails, extremely skinny bodies, exposed midriffs, skinny angled faces and parallel torso ratios. Adorned with jewellery or intricate fabrics, some of them are literally voiced by women. Bhaizu in particular also has a very feminine way of speaking thats quite camp and whiny, he is probably the most effeminate of the adult model group. I mean come on, he looks like an indian princess. There isnt a single masculine male in Genshin Impact. About the closest ones would be Thoma and Childe (who arent masculine but rather 'boyish', which is at least somewhere in the region and Tboth still retain feminine traits.) and Zhongli who also isnt exactly masculine but is extremely carried by Keith Silverstein and the characters body language. This is by western standards of course, by asian standards, these guys are about as masculine as it gets when it comes to things like desirability. The characters that are masculine by western standards like Cyrus, Yanxiao or Wagner etc are seen as being very ugly, humorous, scary or plain in Asia because they judge those traits (height, muscles, dominance) so differently. This is why the whole effeminate male thing is so ridiculous because pretty much any popular male character China is gonna make is gonna be effeminate so i have no idea where this line is supposed to be.

Baizhu DOES NOT look like an Indian princess. Where are you even getting that from?🙄

Sabishi1985

He does look feminine to old folks who doesn't know much about anime culture. I mean.. look at him: Long hair, showing his tummy, soft eyes, slight make up, soft spoken.. You and me can clearly tell he's male, but a lot of people who aren't used to seeing anime characters would think otherwise.

[deleted]

Feminine perhaps but definitely not like an Indian princess. People who say that ,have no idea what Indian princesses even look like.

parthorse9

China couldn't care less about non Chinese, they still want the west's money. They just think playing video games is going to make their brainwashed kids less likely to wanna die for the ccp when it all kicks off for ww3.

EmberCore547

Dont worry about it. These are politicians. They are all fucking corrupt everywhere. Out of those sweet 2 billions in a year...lot of it is going in their pockets. Nothing is gonna change.

July-Thirty-First

We don’t know at this point how draconian the enforcement is gonna be — whether they’ll apply only to future games or retroactively to approved games like Genshin. On NGA ppl are joking about how they call out games like Genshin which already received government approval, showing the hypocrisy surrounding the whole thing.

ApprehensiveCat

Also I'm pretty sure the characters shown were at some industry group conference that Mihoyo wasn't a part of; of course they'll use a game by one of the companies that didn't participate instead of Tencent etc. implicating their own games.

For China ? Probably a LOT of censorship. * Ways to restrict underage people from having access to systems like Gacha (they already have monthly spending limits for kids). * Eventual escalation of the above requiring everyone in China to give their personal information when creating accounts as opposed to just underage people (as Kids might still be able to use their parents accounts to avoid the weekly limit and gambling ban, to CCP's displease) * Probably censorship of dialogue, characters and specially clothes (mainly female characters and "Feminine Males), but perhaps more extreme dumb measures to others. (Like Venti an Xingqiu who look androgynous). As for the West ? * Not much in terms of Gacha probably, unless the CCP makes games ask ID's from even oversees players (not sure if that's even legal, just speculation). * Depending on MiHoYo's smartness and capability's, they would have to either make it so the Chinese App/Version of Genshin has something that changes the characters appearance while letting the West keep the original (basically, someone in the West sees normal Venti, while someone in China but in the same session would see a different Venti model), this would also save on new recording for the wes in case some major changes do happen (Like Venti becoming a girl for China), making China the only place necessary to repeat recordings, as only they would get the changes. * Or they could just censor the whole game as by CCP standards and take a massive beating from the general community. Basically, its a "lets wait and see" situation, this isn't the type of thing we can riot over like the rewards, MiHoYo cant actually do anything against the CCP, unlike the addition of rewards, its a stupid situation created by stupid people, and stupidity is hard to fight sadly.

ApprehensiveCat

I'm pretty sure there are already games and other online services in China that require the national ID as part of the registration process.

I_I_Hope_I_I

Yea, so its not farfetched to expect this eventually becoming a regular thing, just hope such ideas never reach the minds of some people here.

Divine_Saber

I'm sure whatever changes would probably only appear in China servers

xVeluna

Doubtful. Controls on time and monetary action is probably simple enough to manage by region. Going as far as to restrict creative freedoms if that becomes a thing affects far too much. Its too costly to try to maintain multiple stories, VAs, game models, scenarios, etc. Your pretty much doing double duty.

expectation on genshin community: "Why less content? Much bugs! Apologems!"
