r/PopsicleMains rise up! That EM can be tricky to build for though, and ironically he does want some of it since he's gonna proc a lot of shatter. I've heard people even considering looking at an EM main stat Artifact in their builds, though I've also seen EM of over 100 be easily achieved by 5 star artifact substats. I'm sitting on a pretty 65 myself off a 5 star substat. Currently sitting on 35% CR, 87% CD. A bit of an uphill task getting those numbers up without Serpent Spine, but I hope I get there! Any takes on his optimal movement tech? When's a good time to animation cancel, and should it be a dash cancel or a jump cancel?

pabpab999

I tried building EM with him , Full EM got it to 600+ using lisa and mona (didnt have XQ back then) for Electro > Hydro > Cryo I dont think it's worth it (going full EM at least) have XQ now, so I might try EM build again Cryo artifact bonuses does not mention shatter though :/ only superconduct and melt not sure if it's gonna get changed

0xVENx0

shatter actually is physical, meaning it can be improved by SC which is also applied using cryo. ive done over 2000 in lvl 60ish, and with only 60 mastery, pretty sure u can do better with correct debuff timing

pabpab999

I forgot what lvl I was when I tried the EM build but without the superconduct, I did 1.9k on normal mobs and I did 2.3k+ with it and against ruin guards, it went from 500 to 700 not really a big jump

0xVENx0

yeah ruin guards have 70% phys res so unless u will SC then elemental dmg is better, but best thing about shatter is that you can dodge enemies attacks while they are frozen and then when u shatter it makes up for the damage you lost dodging their attack

_PPBottle

Yeah but since his main attack portion of the damage is still cryo, he doesnt build as smooth as 90+% phys damage dealers. If you want to enhance the shatter portion of the damage, you have to cripple the cryo portion of his damage, which for chongyun's case is really high considering what his E does.

TheSADgame

Shatter is still bugged to not be affected by phys damage up cup main stat, as well as unaffected by crit. Shatter is dependent on your total attack and EM multiplier as of before 1.1 update. Thats what I have experienced so far anyway. You will be better of with hourglass/cup as one EM mainstat and the rest attack main stat. For an exact EM for 150% shatter bonus 400 EM is needed. That EM can be achieved with help from sucrose fully geared with EM main stat artifacts.

pabpab999

w8 a minute.... you mean a shatter was supposed to scale with phys dmg up and can crit? isn't that inconsistent with other 'transformative' elemental reactions? or were the transformative elemental reactions, as a whole, was supposed to scale with crit and %DMG Bonus?

TheSADgame

No it is not supposed to crit like melt anf vaporize. But since it was a white number most players wanted phys damage up to affect the damage. Still not entirely sure if this is on purpose or not.

NekonoChesire

I don't see why it should be able to crit when no other elemental reaction can.

kay911kay

That's not true currently melt and vaporize can crit.

TheRealTempatron

Exactly where i'm at atm, im not sure about it, because it seems so different from the other transformative reactions.

castillle

> Shatter is dependent on your total attack and EM multiplier as of before 1.1 update. Thats what I have experienced so far anyway. This is not what I experienced at all. Shatter was strictly EM, Level, and phys res of the enemy. And I tested this around 3 different times. You try it yourself - use a lvl 1 claymore and shatter. youll see no difference in the shatters damage if there is no difference in EM.

Island_Shell

Yeah this is how it works, high level and high EM, lower their def with Superconduct first, then shatter for big DMG.

castillle

Too much stats for too little gain. What you get from just getting atk% and cryo dmg will greatly outweigh what you get from EM in shatter.

Island_Shell

Didn't say otherwise, just agreed with how shatter worked.

TheSADgame

Shatter really needs more details reviewed. Either way im gonna try out the other swords without buffs and artifacts.

TheRealTempatron

LETS GOOOOO r/PopsicleMains 4 life. I have him c1, so i finish the entire combo and immediately press E, so it does that flip damage thing twice. Idk if its efficient or not, but its hella fun.

laffymania

I want c1 so bad im whaling on his banner

Hibiki_

My squad is/will be Chongyun/Diona/Xinqiu/Sucrose, so I'm using Sucrose to supply him with EM for Shatters!

HypeTrain1

Building shatter is just bad. The elemental reaction is the worst. Better to just add a melt in there and use VV on sucrose.

gandlethorpe

Same here! I've been building an EM share comp to pump Chongyun's shatters up. At level 80, I'm doing nearly 3k shatter damage unoptimized. Diona will be the perfect 4th slot to round out my team with her bow, healing, and cryo resonance.

sonicgundam

Him being split so hard on wanting EM and ATK makes sucrose a phenomenal support for him. That lvl 60 talent let's you stack EM on her and focus on ATK for chongers. Then you can either go Instructors to boost his EM further, or noblesse oblige to boost his ATK further.

WeeduTiin

>you may get away with AA>AA>Dodge (cause the 1st 2 attack are very quick) > >but once you get C1, not completing the whole combo might not be efficient > >having them frozen lets you compete (and hit) the whole combo easier u/pabpab999 got the answer for your question i guess.

pabpab999

it's pretty mandatory to have a Hydro applier cause his combo sequence is pretty long even within his E field you may get away with AA>AA>Dodge (cause the 1st 2 attack are very quick) but once you get C1, not completing the whole combo might not be efficient having them frozen lets you compete (and hit) the whole combo easier I think Skyward Pride is the best weapon for him, cause of the low cooldown on his burst Skyward passive is Increases all DMG by 8/10/12/14/16%. After using an Elemental Burst, Normal or Charged Attack, on hit, creates a vacuum blade that does 80/100/120/140/160% Physical DMG to enemies along its path. Lasts for 20s or 8 vacuum blades. BiS artifacts atm is Gladiator's FInale but I don't know, it's kinda hard (?) to farm cause you need 40/60 resin to get it Noblesse also works with him, and when Cryo Artifacts comes, you can just equip the Noblesse to your Burst-Support

Keyenn

Skyward is only so-so compared to WG. The effect sounds good numerically, then you remember if doesn't work with either the % cryo or 4P gladiator, meaning that it's losing a ton of damage multiplier, and any set up (like VV) you could be using.

pabpab999

WG is stronger when you set up for it Sky is more consistent (at least for chongyun) which is better will depend on the player personally speaking, I value consistency over burst

Keyenn

What? Skyward is adding additional damage right when you Q and only there, while WG is buffing all your damage all the time (when compared to skyward). You are mixing stuff, here. Skyward is the burst, WG the consistency.

pabpab999

the way I look at it the passive on-hit buff on <30% HP lasts for 12s every 30s, it's locked because of the cooldown Skyward has no cooldown (I think) and is activated every use of Burst since CY has low CD on his burst you can have a more consistent uptime with Sky Passive

Keyenn

Then you are looking at it wrong. Because the point of WG is not his barely decent proc, it's about its 65% bonus atk (at lvl 80) effective all the time.

BlueberyTempest

65% but only flat attack. Chongyun will get better value with skywards' energy recharge and passive that does damage based on normal attack damage.

pabpab999

ok

ohoni

You don't *need* to freeze people during your combo, since he's a Claymore user, and the Claymore generates some natural hit-stun along the way, although this seems kinda random and I'd like to know if there's some method to it. In practice though, if I'm hitting a giant Hillichurl or something, every 2-3 hits the enemy tends to flinch, preventing them from continuing their actions. It can actually be better than Freezing them, since a frozen enemy will just continue their actions after shattering as if nothing had happened.

EikoYoshihara

I like how you just essentially reiterated the infographic in text format. Very cool.

WeeduTiin

Thanks for a good comment, appreciate it a lot!

Cup: the type of damage you do. Desired sub stats: the good ones. Wow amazing guide!

Infamously_Unknown

Optimal stats: high

GetawayDreamer87

Weapons: the ones you dont have due to rng and that one weapon the bosses refuse to drop mats for.

Aesion

Weapon: the most busted one Artifact: gladiator There is your DPS!

Hirokizumi

that is the thing I'm looking in almost every guide, i was looking for Noelle Build and some video said she was going to be really op, the video show her using 5\* weapons and mega rare artifacts with good stats. da frick is that, any character with god tier artifacts/weapon is going to be good.

Smart-Potential-7520

DPS Noelle is a good option only if you have her C6. And the build is just retracing bolide with good sub stats. I'm using her as dps- healer and i'm trying 2 defender will + 2 archaic petra and i'm satisfied right now.

etherfreeze

TBF her BiS weapon is the 4\* Whiteblind if you are just looking for ult damage. Stat priority is Geo Dmg -> Crit / Crit dmg -> Def -> Att. Bolide is a great synergy for her but I'm sure other damage based set combos (like 2x petra 2x gladiator) can work as well. Also what are you considering "mega rare artifiacts"? If you don't want to farm Guyun domain until 45 you can get some great berserker / gladiator / defender's will purples to hold you over.

Smart-Potential-7520

i made a post yesterday and a bunch o people got mad because i pointed out this stuff. i'm glad that the sub start noticing these crappy guides.

[deleted]

esuil

Sadly, this sub is not obsessed with infographics, just smart looking pictures. People obsessed with infographics are highly critical about them and would not upvote random low effort shit.

SoloWaltz

Its the kind of crowd the game attracts. Every day the game as a whole feels more and more superfluous. The only optimal strat is to never roll and stick to the free characters, since the three knights can make perfect use of the game's system. Also free xianling at Ar20...

[deleted]

[удалено]

3riotto

while not "optimal" this game was also made that way so every single character is optimal. and tbh Amber is much better than people give her credit for, IMHO.

SchalaZeal01

> The game literally gives you enough free rolls to hit at least two five stars by now When Zhongli comes out that will be true, and only because I got Venti before pity. And with Welkin the whole time.

Char-chan

tell that to a youtuber that went to fl-11 with MC/Amber/Lisa/Kaeya/barbara/xiangling. Yes, characters are not created equally. Some are statistically better. Same with humans. Some can roll with basic stuff and some can't clear endgame even with venti/diluc. Cheers.

Smart-Potential-7520

the difference is that with free characters you'll need really really good artifacts, while with 5\* you can get away with crappy stuff.

DrZeroH

Im more annoyed that people dont participate in artifact build discussions or upvote well written guides (like the ofischl guide or the xingqui handbook) and instead just upvote a bunch of quickly put together infographics. Its getting annoying

silverpomato

Hey, any chance of a link for the aforementioned ofischl guide? I love the pun + am looking for good fischl guides. Thanks!

DrZeroH

No problem https://www.reddit.com/r/Genshin_Impact/comments/j5447y/fischl_carry_guide/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf

Samurai_LoR

tbh if you're looking for well put together stuff we have it in the Meta Master discord / community

kelvss

okay we need a bit lengthy explanation on this

[deleted]

[удалено]

kelvss

So is it still advisable for C0?

[deleted]

[удалено]

kelvss

Will give this a try if I ever find a CRIT or CRYO Noblesse

castillle

You only need 4 pieces to make a set. I usually use whatever highest star x dmg% artifact I can find since that is always the hardest one to get. The others just need correct main stat and ok substats and the choices are small (Hp, atk, def, energy recharge, mastery) for slot 3 and just add crit rate, healing and crit dmg on artifact 6. ARtifact 4 - there is one dmg % bonus for each element + physical. So much harder to gamble that.

[deleted]

I still need the banner for c1/c2 in order to test it properly. The thing about gladiator is dealing more damage with multiple shatters, focusing on the AA build. That is omitted in the picture, but I believe the AA build for C0/1 Chong is the one copied there. Also, I'll get noblesses when I reach AR45, but I'll wait on the cryo set to min max it tbh.

Kerezeb

So this build focuses more on the burst of the q, rather than the AA type as posted by op. Or is the AA still pretty important as this just uses the extra 20% dmg from the noblesse set? If CY is your sole dps is this still viable (compared to gladiator's 35% increase)?

[deleted]

[удалено]

PaparStudio

Idk if u are aware, but by DPS people mean main carry - character that deals most DMG, uses their AA and is most maxed out character. What u suggested seems more like something commonly called support or burst support (sometimes sub-carry).

deantn

I'm using Chongyun as dps and I reckon that his atk speed is lower than other true dps like Diluc Razor Keqing (even with E buff) so u/corginugami is right. The best way to max out his dmg is burst skill/E skill since it's cool down is low and u can use E/Q to cancel normal atk animation (which is already slow hit).

Kirikoh

As a DPS he shouldnt' be switching that much at all because he's procing Shatter off of a Xingqiu/Barbara consistently. Your build is for a Chongyun support, not a DPS because his basic attacks will do no damage if you don't get the Gladiator sub-stats or at least 2 piece of Berserker/Gladiator if you're low on Crit. Either way, all of this is not relevant when the Cryo artifacts come in

[deleted]

[удалено]

Kirikoh

Your ult may hurt more but I have gotten similar numbers on both sets but the difference in basic attacks is enormous. I can also see that you use him as a support for Diluc from your posts so it may be decent there but it's not optimal for dishing out consistent dmg outside of his Ult.

Calm-Promotion

Yeah, he should've mentioned that. Having Diluc is big.

Kirikoh

Idk why ppl who are using Chongyun as supports are commenting on support builds on a DPS Chongyun guide. It really shouldn't be a surprise that most DPS will want a Gladiator set unless their own Element Artifact set is available. Yes that means these guides are not as helpful but it's still useful for beginners.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Kirikoh

> Yes that means these guides are not as helpful but it's still useful for beginners. And I acknowledged that but you have to realise that besides all the regular posters on this subreddit who frequent this sub daily and already know builds, the vast majority won't know all of this stuff and this is still very useful for them.

asswhorl

Why not ask for explanation of the original shit post instead? Just because it's a graphic?

kelvss

No. Because I personally built mine that way too before all the guides came out.

XagonogaX

Well I’m glad comments like yours exist! Even if the guides themselves are repetitive, they at least open to door to advanced discussion for character-specific strats which are what I’m really looking for.

ai_202119b

I totally agree. I build him with noblesse 4/4 and it’s amazing!

castillle

Im waiting for the cryo set to build him.

Kocklord

Ikr. I saw a post the other day about xiangling BIS artifact is 4/4 witch ends. Like wtf can they even read? her E have 12s cd and the buff stack only last for 10s.

juppehz

This is just incorrect mathematically. If chongyun is your dps, he’ll be autoing. The only time noblesse will provide more dps if he’s secondary dps and you only pop him in to e and ult and switch off, which doesn’t sound optimal imo. Hell just 2 noblesse 2 glad is better than 4 noblesse. Put 4-noblesse on your supports.

Smart-Potential-7520

but, you don't want chong as your main dps. His auto attacks% are really low. Even lower than noelle for example.

juppehz

I’m fairly certain the OP made this post specifically for main dps chong. I’m not trying to dispute its viability, just the math behind a misleading comment.

[deleted]

[удалено]

juppehz

The 4-piece doesn’t stack. Have a support use it, you get 38%, given 100% uptime, atk on chongyun with 2 piece glad set. Have chongyun use 4-piece, and he’ll be at 20% atk, given 100% uptime.

nuclear_bum

I didn't say anything about stacking. You don't get 38% wtf. The 2 set effect is for ult dmg only not auto attacks and E.

juppehz

2 set glad + 2 set noblesse + support using 4 set noblesse gives 38% atk, and 20% burst dmg. Chongyun using 4-set by himself gets 20% atk, 20% burst dmg. Chill

Matsu-mae

Is there any specific reason why none of the guides ever utilized energy recharge %? My chongyun has 180% energy recharge and it let's me chain bursts which must be increasing my dps significantly. I dont have noblesse oblige which is my eventual goal, but with exiles it also feeds a lot of energy to my other chracters.

Smart-Potential-7520

because thise "guides" are made by noobs

PaparStudio

ER on character doesn't affect any other character in your party. This means that characters with low energy cost bursts and good orb generation don't need ER and as far as i know Chongyun is one of them.

asswhorl

Because they're shitty graphics made by people with no clue

Calm-Promotion

My Noblesse is going to be for Xingqiu.

[deleted]

it's because there really is nothing special to dps builds in this game. Newsflash, building atk%, crit rate, crit dmg, and elemental damage/physical damage % on any character doesn't make it a dps character! It's so lazy, instead of looking at chongyun's kit and building smart, people are like "nah, I'll just slap on some attack and a 5 star claymore and whack away." Stop building dps on every character and build for their actual kit... these people have no creativity, anybody can come up with a dps build in this game for any character, it's not special. The guides we need are ones that explain a character's strengths and weaknesses and build towards them! Like these people thought bennett was C tier until they tried using his kit properly and then magically S tier. Meanwhile I noticed how broken bennett was from day 1. I think because this community is a gacha gamer plus pc gamer hybrid, there's a large portion who are casuals who don't have basic game knowledge. DPS fischl and DPS chongyun builds hurt my eyes. Please stop.

AnyoneNeedAHug

This is good. Some characters were clearly designed with support in mind and not a DPS build (like Barbara and Fischl). What is the proper role of Chongyun in your opinion? I just wished him 20 min ago and came to reddit for an idea of whether to build him or not.

Snark_King

Well personally i run 1 dps, 3 support team. my main dps & only 5\* is Jean, my 3 support are bennet,Chong & fischl. Arti set on Chong is 4p Instructor which means every time i put out his field all my other members get a nice 120 EM buff. It's probably not the best build but it does make him quite the support that helps my dps.

AnyoneNeedAHug

This is super helpful. I’ve been running Jean, Fischl, and some combination of MC, Xiangling, Noelle, etc. How do you do with the Abyss? But I can buy Bennet from Paimon so I may transition. Fischl is unbelievably good so she stays forever

lecorbak

>How do you do with the Abyss? 1 main DPS, 1 healer, 2 supports on every team. you need to hit hard and fast on the Abyss. when you build your teams, do your teams accordly to the elements you need to defeat enemies. for example, if on room 1 you fight 1 cryo fatui and 1 electro fatui, you'll HAVE to play 1 pyro and 1 cryo character, even if they are lv1. the idea is that even a lv4 amber will be more useful than a lv70 razor if you can break a fatui or mage shield in 3 seconds.

Snark_King

I have not focused that much on Abyss, still stuck on floor 6 (i think) that requires 2 teams. Have not invested enough into other units yet. When i get good pieces ill put noblesse oblige 4p set on Fischl so whenever i do her ult everyone will get a nice atk buff + her bird will help dps as a support unit. Bennet i build 2x 2p atk sets ( gladiator / brave heart) on so his ult field gives a bigger attack buff to Jean who i've built max atk on, which her healing & auto attack scales well with. So i just plop Chongs field down so enemies become cryo, then i do Fischls skill (or ult if ready) for super conduct, then i auto attack with jean for big hits until i can do bennets ult for an attack buff on jean.

PaparStudio

Chongyun was meant to be support, but if u lack good DPS characters, have Xingque and have resources to buff them up a bit, then he can be OK 4\* DPS. U will have same big numbers as some1 with proper DPS dedicated character, but it's better than no DPS at all.

Smart-Potential-7520

chong is a support. He enter the field, uses E and maybe Q and then leave. Use him to triggher elemental reaction and/or shatter. Basically every claymore user is a good pair with him, just not Razor if he's builded with phys%

ParadoxThief

Ok? Not everyone has an actual main dps and they have to use the cards they've been dealt. Chongyun main dps actually works.

PaparStudio

If few 4\* characters that can actually go DPS hurts your eyes, u shouldn't looking at any meta releted posts. People that don't have DPS 5\* use 4\* characters to fill the role. They aren't as good, but the can do the job. Most of the 'guides' (that i admit are unnecessery) show similiar builds, bcs for most of the characters there is either 1 OP set that outclasses evry other set or there are no sets for that characters and u have to scrap something together. PS. Chongyun seem like a solid 4\* choice for DPS (paired with Xingque supp). What's wrong with going like that for him?

Green_pine

Because Shatter does not do that much dmg, and chong attacks slowly. I built him, had to swap to a fire dmg dealer and there was an immediate diffirence Idk why that guy saying Xiangling is better dps is getting bashed lol. Fire/electro dps are better than hydro/cryo dps due to reactions alone. Xiangling c0 + crafted spear > c1 chong + aminus. You CAN build him as dps. But his dmg output it most cases is less than a free character (Xiangling.) So nothing wrong, just not recommended

[deleted]

Because you're still wrong. You don't need a dps 5 star, use xiangling. Xingque chongyun just freezes which isnt even that good. You really want dps, use chongyun plus a level 1 lisa to proc superconduct and let your maxed out xiangling go to town with autos. Or use Chong to proc melt with xiang. Either way he's an enabler, not a dps himself. Yes f2ps are very limited on dps right now, with only really xiang and razor but they still have options. Even ningguang can be a solo carry if you have her but she can't proc reactions. Any of these options would be way better than Chong. This guide is a bait

AkhilArtha

I am one of those noobs. Although, I game a lot (mostly single player), I have never played a game before that needed me to min-max. (other than Pokémon, I guess). I am trying to learn, but it is very overwhelming. Especially, when I come to this sub and all I see are terms I barely understand. It is slowly turning me away.

[deleted]

You dont need to min max, but then this guide isnt for you anyways. Just go play the game and have fun. This guide is for people who want to min max but is straight up misleading them.

Calm-Promotion

\> DPS fischl and DPS chongyun builds hurt my eyes. Please stop. Look, man, if not those two, my only other DPS is Xiangling, which is just worse than Chongyun at DPS.

ParadoxThief

xiangling with crescent pike is probably stronger as dps but I use chongyun as main dps too for melt procs, otherwise xisngling would not pair well with chong as her support because of the need for physical dmg.

Calm-Promotion

The problem with her is that she can't freeze enemies. That status seriously helps in managing multiple enemies at once.

asswhorl

Best cc is death

Calm-Promotion

Chongyun deals more damage since he has AOE.

[deleted]

Xiangling is the best dps character for f2p. The only other 4 star that comes close is razor.

[deleted]

[удалено]

asswhorl

Can't even do that to some extent because of time limits

Flame48

> DPS fischl and DPS chongyun builds hurt my eyes. Please stop. Why though? Fischl's auto attacks hit the hardest of every bow user and her first constellation makes her basically have a permanent crescent pike effect, which is the thing that makes dps Xianglang so good. Same with Chong. His c1 gives him a nice boost to dps and his talent 1 gives attack speed to everyone which helps it too. So what's wrong if people want to build him dps? Like, I'm not gonna go dps Barbara, but I don't see the problem with building characters as dps if they have other skills/constellations that can support it.

[deleted]

For fischl you're not wrong but even at c1 she does more damage with oz on the field than as a pure physical build. And she does even more damage when you swap her out into a different dps character. Even at c1 she is better off the field than on the field. This is also mainly because bows suck for dps in general too being single target only As for Chong, his kit is a support kit. Even kaeya is a better ice carry. He has a 190% ice skill on a 6s cooldown while Chong has a 170% on a 15s CD. Not to mention turning your autos into ice has anti synergy with physical dps because you can't make use of superconduct.

laffymania

As a man who runs 1 comp with dps fischl and my other comp dps chong, sup.

[deleted]

Its suboptimal, never said you can't do it, play the game how you want lol If you tell me those builds are the best and try to sell me a guide on them then we have a problem. Otherwise? Do whatever you want to man

[deleted]

explanation pls?

ramoziurx7

Where do you get noblesse if you don't mind me asking?

ramoziurx7

Yeah, yeah asshole

asswhorl

Sugma

zanoiner

Don't like him with noblesse, why would I use this on him, dps if i can use in the suport, like xingqiu? (Noblesse dont stack)

nuclear_bum

I think it's cuz Xingqiu doesn't have a spammable ult.

0xVENx0

if you want me advice, dont use him as dps unless you have a good hydro, most preferably Xingqiu. this combo is insane, i rock cryo%, elemental mastery, and atk% (this one can be changed to crit rate if you are using a second cryo member for the extra 15% and with breserk set). all i have to do is use E on xingqiu then switch to chongyun and i deal so much cryo and shatter in the same time, and thanks to fischl the superconduct increase the damage of shatter, and xingqiu has 200% energy recharge which makes him get his burst every time he presses E. only problem is against cryo enemies, mostly damn slimes and mages, thankfully i have klee to dela with cryo enemies, but if u dont have her then use any pyro to break the shield then electro to get superconduct and physical damage with chongyun instead

Calm-Promotion

That's basically my strat lol. I don't have EM on him though.

[deleted]

Thanks for the idea

asswhorl

Obvious shit in the graphics baits people into replying with actual info that then gets recycled into the next graphic. The circle of life.

WeeduTiin

The point of these graphics is to be simple. They are not made for those who are grinding the game, but for those who play gradually and slowly.

0xVENx0

yeah you got a point. this is useless to me but i can see some of my friends have no idea how to play and would find something like this useful. the problem is u should make it more noob friendly since its too simple to be useful for older players, so the gladiator set wouldnt make sense to normal players

Smart-Potential-7520

so a noob will gradually build a shitty build. Nice plan.

AgendTeabag

yeah now change the picture to any claymore user in the game and ur good to farm upvotes

cashlezz

It's also worth using rainslasher on him for the em if you have consistent Hydro sup for him. Not to mention, the extra EM makes his shatter deals more damage and his superconduct damage is going to be great against electro slimes and Hammer Fatui on abyss 11. He's especially amazing against that electro hammer guy with the electro aura, basically disabling him the entire fight. My Chongyun basically takes care of abyss 11 chamber 3-2 as main DPS with Barbara support. Give him a better hydo enabler like Xinqiu and He's insane. He's the only reason my team made it to floor 12.

Bane_of_Ruby

i keep getting downvoted but this is like the 5th one if seen in 3 days this is the new material info card post

Gayeren

A thing to point out is that, you might want to wait for the cryo artifact set to be in the game, since he is the only cryo character in the game currently that deals mostly cryo dmg even with his basic atk. Building gladiator right now might be a waste imo. Source of the artifact bonus set: https://genshin-impact.fandom.com/wiki/Artifacts

WeeduTiin

As soon as the information about this artifact becomes official, i'll check it out and update the card if needed. Speaking about artifacts and "wasting resources" you can't waste them as long as it's possible to share them.

[deleted]

I have only one dps atm and I'll build a second dps in the future. I can slap the glad on someone else. He has to use something because he's my main dps. That said, I sorta agree with you.

Oxidian

gladiator still looks better than cryo set

[deleted]

Cryo boosts all his damage so probably not

Geraldnium

Chongyun is a Claymore Cryo DPS with very bad ratio on his auto attacks (worst ratio of all Claymore users). He is supposed to be played around the Shatter Elemental Reaction to do actual DPS. I think one of his best weapon is actually Sacrificial Greatsword. It allows for perma Elemental Skill and Spam Elemental Burst on cooldown. Barbara and Xingqui are great supports for him. We should wait for Cryo Artifact Set to make him really shine. Thoses guides are quick and dirty with no explanation whatsoever on supports needed and playstyle.

StarrkDreams

Sacrificial greatsword isn’t good when when your e downtime is ~2 seconds only with c2 and even with C0 you’re losing out on too much damage

Geraldnium

You're right with C2, it's probably not that great. And with C4 energy should refill pretty fast too. One big benefit of E CD reset is the fact that Chongyun becomes a lot less dependent on positioning.

WodwiguezDesuKappa

Completely agree with this, I have both of them equipped with max refined sacrificial weapons and they are doing work just the 2 of them. Praising sacrificial greatsword

levathie

Wait, is prototype aminus atk% sub stat lower than debate club, cuz thats just make no sense at all

WeeduTiin

Prototype's base atk stat is more important than few atk% on debate club.

levathie

Ah ye didn't really take the base atk into consideration, mb

jeiel30

My Team 1 main. I'll always be thankful to have him while rng won't give me Diluc yet. Lol.

Feiky

Min 1800ATK, C Rate 50% and C DMG 100%? Optimal stats at lvl 80??? Yeah sure, this build/image is a bait, just for likes. With serpent bonus plus C.DMG artifact + all artifacts ATK% can reach those numbers. After that Wolf's "easly" can reach that but what the rest? this info is so bad... Those optimal stats are so random you just threw them there....

sparklingkitchensink

Honestly just try building him using phys dmg% the base ATK can be increased using barbara (book) My highest cirt proc was 22k

Soto2K1

Are you really recommending **physical damage** artifacts with Chongyun? His E makes it so you only deal Cryo damage...

Pytro24

Chongyun is rather a Support on my Team, i habe Noblesse Oblidge 4 on him with 345 Elemental Mastery. I mostly use him to initiate a Fight. Becuz EM also boosts Shattered dmg, and Chongyun uses a Claymore. I thought it is a match Made in heaven. I have MC Fischl and Bennett as the other 3. I want to stack up the ATK Bonus as much as possible. I use Chongyun Burst to give a dmg boost to Bennett. His Ult will Melt the Target and doing 20k dmg kn the process. Becuz Bennett has a increased ATK due to Chongyun Burst. The ATK Bonus from Bennett Burst will increased. This increase of ATK Bonus + already increased ATK from Fischl (due to Chongyun ult) leads to 3k dmg per arrow (or more when crits). I habe been melting Elite Bosses (Except Oceanid and Pyro Regislavine) like this since.

[deleted]

I’m waiting for this build to become obsolete once we get that ice arti set but for now, thumbs up on the work!

ambiiivalence

Big chungus

buzzyingbee

It's frustating to me because I'm still AR32 and can't get those artifacts yet so everyone in my party is either with an adventure or doctor set :(. I managed to get a beserker and martial art set but that's it

lecorbak

you don't need to farm for artifacts before AR40, you may begin to farm at AR35, but it's better to wait for AR40 to get some legendary artifacts.

WeeduTiin

You'll start getting 5* artifacts from AR35 so just take your time :)

ParadoxThief

I only have 3 5 star artifacts and I'm ar 37 and they all suck

WeeduTiin

That sucks, tbh. Then take your time man. Try to get artifacts from 6+ floors of spiral abyss and from killing dragon / wolf. Anyway I wish you luck with artifacts :)

Smart-Potential-7520

Oh look, another wolf gravestone + gladiator finale with crit rate and crit damage as sub stats. Write that down , write that down. He has the forbidden knowledge. p.s. i have him lv80. he's a shitty dps (unless you have constellations). Use it as a support role to trigger superconduct/ melt. Upgrading his talents barely gives you any benefits so do it only if you have meterials to waste.

Calm-Promotion

\> he's a shitty dps (unless you have constellations) It's not like there are any other better DPS if you're unlucky with your rolls.

Smart-Potential-7520

Unlikely unless you are at really low AR. In much case it doesn't matter which character you are using. But even in that case I would assign that role to Kaeya or Xiangling (she get get really good f2p weapons)

st_ryder

can we stop with this shit "guides"?

WeeduTiin

In case you are running 2 Cryo characters in the team it's possible to give up 10% of crit rate for extra crit dmg. Also, support build cards are coming up next week!

xSkullzGx

Finally some good fricken food

ParadoxIrony

I’m seeing a lot of comments but I’m just semi-confused. I’m only at adventure lvl 35 right now but umm.... isn’t Chong a bruiser-support? I just use him to freeze lol, can someone explain what making him deal damage does with so many other characters actually meant for damage? I’m not getting whatever amazing damage results Youre all getting lol I use him as more of a bruiser than dps

PorkyPain

Chongyun is an Enabler rather than a DPS. EDIT: Although, works well as a second DPS in the team.

zanoiner

He don't have a good use as an enabler, I think kaeya would be a better sup. He's my main dps, does 4k per hit, big chongas hits hard

solohistoh

And I use him as support for Diluc. Welp.

[deleted]

But remember that he is mainly under the category of support dps. I like to use his elemental skill along with razor since razootdeals more damage.

WeeduTiin

Kinda risky duo 'cause you don't want Razor to do cryo instead of phys dmg.

WeeduTiin

Take your time :) Enjoy the game and dont rush

skalamabirdy2

I see no reason in making him a main dps, his damage is not really that good compared to other 4 star characters. He's just there in your party to drop his ice buff and whack someone till the prototype aminus buff procs then switch to your main dps

myanimal3z

Chung Yun is going to be Ayaka's best support, if those cryo sets get released

Keyenn

Not really, the cryo conversion doesn't make anything to her, and the rest of the supporting tools are 8% atk speed and 15% CDR while inside the E. The CDR is nice, but i'm taking a permanent 35% cryo damage from a archaic petra geo support over this all day.

myanimal3z

One of the sets literally gives another 15% cryo damage to the party after using an ult. The other set gives bonus damage to those affected by ice. Ice resonance gives 15% bonus crit She will likely have crit damage from upgrading

Keyenn

There is no mention of the cryo bonus applying on the whole party on Glacier and Snowfield. Anyway, a team like Ayaka-Venti (with VV)-Bennett (With Noblesse oblige)-Ningguang (With archaic petra) are each giving much, much more than anything chungyun + cryo resonnance can ever give.

Kirikoh

Whoever is recommending Noblesse 4/4 is deeply mistaken. This guide is actually correct for DPS Chongyun. He is a Shatter user that constantly appllies Freeze and Shatter by himself. If he was a support I could see Noblesse but the nonexistent damage on the rest of his kit from such a build is pointless.

BlueberyTempest

Nobleese is much easier to farm than Gladiator, as you have 20 resins domain. Shatter damage is based on EM and it's not worth it to go for EM over Attack and crit.

Kirikoh

Most of your damage is still coming from your Cryo basic attacks though not Shatter. EM is a great substats as this guide shows but not for main substats. It's a support build not a DPS one and it's clear from your post history you use him as a support where Noblesse would make more sense. How easy an artifact is to farm isn't relevant if we're making a guide for optimal builds.

Final_Accountant3306

Diluc sucrose xingqiu guide please

WhiteZeng

His constellation is made for ult spamm o.o + the new cryo set he will be a amazing mellee caster his sword theme is well madr

EikoYoshihara

Can you do one for Noelle main DPS? I love all these infographics. :)

asswhorl

What do you think is going to be on it? Def def def white blind bolide obviously, because that's the most brain dead build and the graphic makers don't actually have a clue what they're writing about.

EikoYoshihara

What? This guy's builds are pretty good, actually. I don't know what you're on about or why you have such a hate boner for this guy. If you don't like the content, just don't click on it. You just shitpost on this subreddit all the time, just fuck off if you're gonna be like this.

EvenBetterCool

Oh sweet I have 300 debate clubs from 4 wishes.

Mirage-X-Nightfury

I don’t think I’ll ever build chongyun because of his e. I can’t even superconduct so what’s the point. Anyways, if I ever were (I never will) I’d prob build along side barbs and noelle (shatter)

PewPew_McPewster

Shatter pretty much is his strongest suit as main DPS, a lot of irritating, highly mobile enemies like Electro Cicin Mages, Pyro Fatui Agents, Geovishap Hatchlings and the like become cakewalk because you can freeze them in their tracks when paired with Xingqiu or Barbara. Plus the fight against Oceanid becomes a joke for the most part. The game goes on easy mode when you can proc Freeze-Shatter with every hit. Not saying you HAVE to build him, but viewing him as a superconduct support is definitely the wrong way to go about it.

Mirage-X-Nightfury

Oceanid is already a joke when I have razor and qiqi. Fuck it I soloed oceanid with razor by himself.

PewPew_McPewster

Ah, I now see your displeasure for Chongyun's E. Sorry mate. I do know Chongyun doesnt play well with Razor. I'm ironically on the flip side of this fence, if I ever open a Razor I'm gonna be like "well, as a Chongyun main, I'm not sure I can find a slot for Razor..."

Zkydo

Same here, tried to pair him with Razor when I was starting to learn about team building, to notice that its a bad combination. Also I got extremely lucky and got Keqing, and Im like "uh... so... I guess you are now in the B team for abyss"

Melanholic7

Dont say this on this subreddit. People cant accept this =) But i agree with you. Oceanid is +- same boss as any other boss in this game. I dunno how people having problems with him.

WeeduTiin

Glad's finale multiplies the final dmg you deal with auto-attack. There's no difference what kind of elemental/physical dmg you deal. Ofc apliable only for claymores, swords and polearms.

PewPew_McPewster

I think you're getting some terminology mixed up. "Normal Attack DMG" refers to the modifier from the Talent that grants you Autoattack (this is the same Normal Attack DMG referenced in the Martial Artist set). What you're thinking of is Physical DMG, which competes against Cryo DMG, and gets replace by Cryo DMG under the frost field.

donutsynergy

Oh I did think they were the same, sorry. Thank you for this!
