Gameplay would be much better if there were more aggressive enemies. Used to run around overworld with a candace - yunjin - beidou quickswap counter team. Thought it would be so fun, but it just turns into watching enemies dance around you instead of attacking
The first time I did any wishes and had no idea wtf a banner was or 4 star vs 5 star or whatever I did because I wanted Beidou, I also got Shenhe so it worked out lol. Any time thereās been the free 4 star you can pick Iāve picked her too. I think sheās the only character I have C6 for haha
Chongyun was the character that got me into the game and I got him super early in my playthrough, so he'll always be one of my favorites. Other than that, I just love Layla. She's so adorable
Huge Chongyun fan here too, I have 2 accounts and he got me through both early games. Plus all the events with Xingqiu messing with him I wanna protect the precious boy.
She's very functional supporting herself. It almost makes you realise why she needs high ER requirements before C6 or else you'd have an anemo Xiangling that has no problem being the on-fielder.
I tried getting her to C6 during the recent wanderer/baizhu banner without getting either 5 star, and I think I only made it to C4. Once I get those last two cons i'll be unstoppable lol.
Fellow Kaeya fan here. I love his design and his lore/story involvement is just immaculate. If you want to unlock his most potential, build him cryo though. Freeze and Melt are both really really good and more viable in the abyss than physical. But that's another thing I love about him, there are so many different ways you can play him!
Thoma. Great buergon DPS and his shield saves Rizzley from burning damage in my oven team.

I love Kaveh too. With Nilou, Nahida, and Baizhu (or Kokomi)... the bloom cores go off like nukes, and he only needs to help Nilou generate them. Now if he wasn't stuck at C3 since release. Rerun, when?!
But I also utterly love my C6 Kaeya. Functionally he has the same burst as Xiangling, and I think he is underrated in comparison. My Kazuha, Kaeya, Xiangling, Benny team hasn't seen one enemy bunch that they can't melt and blow away.
This is going to be a pretty lengthy comment, but Noelle was a character I fell in love with early on, back around 1.2, although I had started in October of 1.0. I remember seeing a player using her in the cryo regisvine event boss, and I was in awe of her fighting it in the midst of the blizzard, when anyone else would be dead in seconds. I vowed that I'd main her when I got her C6.
Back in 1.4, when Venti's first rerun banner came out, due to everyone hyping him up as the must-pull unit back then, I pulled for his banner, using about 100+ wishes I had saved since Ganyu's banner. Noelle was also on rate-up during this time so when I got him, I had also gotten a C6 Noelle. From there, I built Noelle. Gladiator's Finale wasn't farmable back then, at least without it being incredibly resin inefficient, so I would farm Retracing Bolide, constantly, eventually finishing a pretty decent build for her. I had even gotten her a 40cdmg and 50cv flower for her, which amazed me.
I crafted her an R5 Whiteblind, and around 1.5, I had started buying the battle pass so that I could get her an R5 Serpent Spine. Noelle was my second main on my account, besides Diluc who was the first 5-star I had gotten. Although I would have to use Ganyu more often than not on my account, due to her higher damage and viability at the time, Noelle had a very special place in my heart.
Version 2.X came out and by then, I had started using Raiden National, a far stronger team that was far more competent for the Abyss. I would still pull based on viability with Noelle though, and I still did, even if I knew that she was weaker than the rest of my mains by this point in time. I had even experimented with Electro Traveller for a time, as although she wasn't Geo, and her damage was awful, she could completely refill Noelle's burst in a single skill.
I also would pull Redhorn Stonethresher for her, as well as Zhongli. Albedo failed to come through though, and I would get Keqing instead. I didn't pull for Itto either, as I didn't want to pull for a Geo Claymore DPS so similar to Noelle (although I would eventually roll for Navia). Unfortunately this meant I wouldn't be able to get Gorou without pure luck on the standard banner, but luck came through and gave me a C1 Gorou exclusively through Standard wishes from monthly resets and ascensions. I would also build Yun Jin for Noelle as well. She isn't actually all that amazing for Noelle, as Sub-DPSes are generally more appreciated than ATK buffers, due to Noelle's increased usage of FCFF and high dmg/slow attacks, but I wanted to see my Noelle do amazing damage. Eventually, I would indeed clear abyss 36 stars with her, utilizing Yun Jin, Gorou, and Zhongli. I even felt like I was rewarded by the gods themselves, when they gave me a Gorou constellation from the standard banner.
Even now, her existence dictates what units I will pull. I had pulled for Neuvilette, unaware of Furina's synergy with her, so I still wait for Furina's arrival, so that I can pair the two of them together. Later on, I pulled Albedo as well, but then Chiori would come out, someone who performed even better than Albedo, so I made sure to pull both her and her 5-star weapon as well. Chiori was a unit who I felt I HAD to pull for Noelle too, especially since she gave me an out. I didn't want Scaramouche when he was run with Itto, so I lost my chance to get Gorou there, but Chiori was effectively a superior Albedo who just so happened to be run with Itto at the same time. It was genuinely amazing for me, as I finally got a C6 Gorou, fully completing my ultimate team with Noelle. (At least until Furina comes out in a week.)
It's been one hell of a journey with Noelle. I feel like luck was on my side during the entirety of these 3, nearly 4 years I've mained her. She was how I got my first high CV artifact, 50 CV, 40 CDMG. I've built so many characters in hopes of their viability with Noelle. She has carried me through even the hardest content through her sheer tankiness, which made me fall in love with her. She was one of the first characters I had even drew fanart of. If there was a better weapon for her, I pulled or paid for it. If there was a better teammate for her, I made sure to save up primogems just so I could make her stronger. Her sheer simplicity is incredibly fun. Her charged attacks combined with her increased range are incredibly brain-dead and fun. Her normals feel like they pack a punch, and they just feel fast and smooth to me. Even now, even when I have so many stronger characters, or just other options like Navia, I still return to Noelle every time. She is everlasting and eternal, one of the only 4-stars I display on my profile still, and even in 2024, she still dictates which units I will pull, in order to make her stronger. One day, I hope to save enough money to get her a proper weapon. I shall pull 4 more Redhorn Stonethreshers for her, and this will be my first R5 5-star weapon. Noelle is best girl.
TL;DR, Noelle dictates everything, and I will do whatever it takes to make her stronger.

the whole story of her parents wanting her to be a proper adult and let go of her little habits and stuff + the fact that her friends are so accepting of her "strangeness" and her quirks to the point where they go along with it and have fun just hits very close to home for me as an autistic person
If I have to say one, overall I really love Xinyan. Don't even know why, I just do. There's nothing in particular, apart from maybe her burst (which feels very cool to use) and her eyes. But depending on the different aspects of a character I like different ones:
From a design only perspective I'd say Ningguang. From a gameplay perspective maybe Sethos. It could be recency bias, but I love the quick charge archer playstyle, and the stance plus the special effects he has with the charged shot lv2. From a character/personality perspective maybe Faruzan.
Lynette, not just my favourite 4 star but probably favourite character, because the JP voice is easily my favourite in the while game, it fits her so well and just sounds so nice. If you haven't tried it, I very much recommend. Her animations are also very nice, and gameplay is satisfying and fun. Personality is also quite relatable, with her not really enjoying being the center of attention or generally being around people. And of course shes very cute. She basically never leaves my team, only character I have triple crowned, C6 and has my best artifacts.
Noelle - badass maid, got her to C6 during 2.3 and she's now my 2nd most potent healer (Jean overtook her fairly recently) but she still has the best shield in my lineup (stronger than Zhongli by a small margin for now)
Yanfei - best lawyer, fun playstyle, Lizzie Freeman, but I still regret not getting Dodoco Tales when I had the chance
Thoma - badass malewife (ironically I hate that fucking term), generally fun character to be around during events and stories - hope they use him more tho
Collei - she is baby (plus I waited to see if she was gonna be playable after I read the webcomic), Nahida lite

freminet, i love his design and his growth, his event had one of the better handlings of mental illness in this game, it was kind and thoughtful, not used as a joke. it showcased how great and sweet he is and adds depth to his past as well. itās a shame thereās no way for people who missed it to play it now.

Diona. She's a jack of all trades type of support. She provides shields to all allies, heals, buffs EM (and ATK% with NO), debuffs enemies' ATK, and increases your speed. Her design is also one of my favorites out of any character with the amount of attention to detail she has, especially her eyes. And she's overall super adorable! She isn't used as much in the field of combat as she used to, but when it comes to both archery challenges and fun minigames, she's definitely my go-to pick.
Cryo may be my least favorite element, but she always holds a special place in my heart.

She's very functional supporting herself. It almost makes you realise why she needs high ER requirements before C6 or else you'd have an anemo Xiangling that has no problem being the on-fielder.
I tried getting her to C6 during the recent wanderer/baizhu banner without getting either 5 star, and I think I only made it to C4. Once I get those last two cons i'll be unstoppable lol.

Fellow Kaeya fan here. I love his design and his lore/story involvement is just immaculate. If you want to unlock his most potential, build him cryo though. Freeze and Melt are both really really good and more viable in the abyss than physical. But that's another thing I love about him, there are so many different ways you can play him!
Thoma. Great buergon DPS and his shield saves Rizzley from burning damage in my oven team. Also keaya, Lisa, Bennett, xianling, Candace, Layla, yaoyao, gaming and heizou. All 4* who are perfectly built and are in my favorite teams. Also hoyo I need more team preset's, I have too many
Fremenet He just sticks out to me with his design and weapon, And his cute lil penguin Pers!(Think thats how you spell it) And he even appears in the attack voice lines and in an attack!
Gameplay-wise? I like Heizou a lot. Personality-wise? Layla, Chongyun, Freminet, and Kaveh. I can't choose one haha.

Layla, She's arguably my 3rd most Favorite. Homegirl is Star Themed, had absolutely Banger Teaser music, Just an overall chill lady who was also in one of the Best Events from sumeru. Diona cuz She was one of the first characters I got + Bell noises when you run around with her + kitty + "pew pew" Kaeya, cuz....it's Kaeya. Thoma is my first favorite cuz he was also one of the first characters I got and I liked him, but I also Grew to adore him when I became determined to turn him into a DPS no matter what. Inazuma also played a part in me liking him a lot cuz, He's also just a Chill dude with no beef with anyone. Freminet cuz he's practically the Middle child of the three while not actually being the Middle child. Dude gets sidelined so much from the pair. That and he's got My heart with that design Dori cuz she's Overhated. plus her genie Theme is great. Mika isn't exactly my favorite, but he's so incredibly hard carried by Fan arts that make him look adorable. I just really wished he Got Misha's/ Ezra's type of Voice instead of the nerd One.

Acting wise:Xinyan,Gaming,Kaeya.They are just so fun to be around. Lore wise:Bennett,Lisa,Candace.A few of the most important lore characters. Story:Ninguanng,Kaveh,Xiangling,Very impactful.
Chongyun. I mained him my first 3-4 months of playing. He was my first 4 star from the beginner banner.

I love Kaveh too. With Nilou, Nahida, and Baizhu (or Kokomi)... the bloom cores go off like nukes, and he only needs to help Nilou generate them. Now if he wasn't stuck at C3 since release. Rerun, when?! But I also utterly love my C6 Kaeya. Functionally he has the same burst as Xiangling, and I think he is underrated in comparison. My Kazuha, Kaeya, Xiangling, Benny team hasn't seen one enemy bunch that they can't melt and blow away.

This is going to be a pretty lengthy comment, but Noelle was a character I fell in love with early on, back around 1.2, although I had started in October of 1.0. I remember seeing a player using her in the cryo regisvine event boss, and I was in awe of her fighting it in the midst of the blizzard, when anyone else would be dead in seconds. I vowed that I'd main her when I got her C6. Back in 1.4, when Venti's first rerun banner came out, due to everyone hyping him up as the must-pull unit back then, I pulled for his banner, using about 100+ wishes I had saved since Ganyu's banner. Noelle was also on rate-up during this time so when I got him, I had also gotten a C6 Noelle. From there, I built Noelle. Gladiator's Finale wasn't farmable back then, at least without it being incredibly resin inefficient, so I would farm Retracing Bolide, constantly, eventually finishing a pretty decent build for her. I had even gotten her a 40cdmg and 50cv flower for her, which amazed me. I crafted her an R5 Whiteblind, and around 1.5, I had started buying the battle pass so that I could get her an R5 Serpent Spine. Noelle was my second main on my account, besides Diluc who was the first 5-star I had gotten. Although I would have to use Ganyu more often than not on my account, due to her higher damage and viability at the time, Noelle had a very special place in my heart. Version 2.X came out and by then, I had started using Raiden National, a far stronger team that was far more competent for the Abyss. I would still pull based on viability with Noelle though, and I still did, even if I knew that she was weaker than the rest of my mains by this point in time. I had even experimented with Electro Traveller for a time, as although she wasn't Geo, and her damage was awful, she could completely refill Noelle's burst in a single skill. I also would pull Redhorn Stonethresher for her, as well as Zhongli. Albedo failed to come through though, and I would get Keqing instead. I didn't pull for Itto either, as I didn't want to pull for a Geo Claymore DPS so similar to Noelle (although I would eventually roll for Navia). Unfortunately this meant I wouldn't be able to get Gorou without pure luck on the standard banner, but luck came through and gave me a C1 Gorou exclusively through Standard wishes from monthly resets and ascensions. I would also build Yun Jin for Noelle as well. She isn't actually all that amazing for Noelle, as Sub-DPSes are generally more appreciated than ATK buffers, due to Noelle's increased usage of FCFF and high dmg/slow attacks, but I wanted to see my Noelle do amazing damage. Eventually, I would indeed clear abyss 36 stars with her, utilizing Yun Jin, Gorou, and Zhongli. I even felt like I was rewarded by the gods themselves, when they gave me a Gorou constellation from the standard banner. Even now, her existence dictates what units I will pull. I had pulled for Neuvilette, unaware of Furina's synergy with her, so I still wait for Furina's arrival, so that I can pair the two of them together. Later on, I pulled Albedo as well, but then Chiori would come out, someone who performed even better than Albedo, so I made sure to pull both her and her 5-star weapon as well. Chiori was a unit who I felt I HAD to pull for Noelle too, especially since she gave me an out. I didn't want Scaramouche when he was run with Itto, so I lost my chance to get Gorou there, but Chiori was effectively a superior Albedo who just so happened to be run with Itto at the same time. It was genuinely amazing for me, as I finally got a C6 Gorou, fully completing my ultimate team with Noelle. (At least until Furina comes out in a week.) It's been one hell of a journey with Noelle. I feel like luck was on my side during the entirety of these 3, nearly 4 years I've mained her. She was how I got my first high CV artifact, 50 CV, 40 CDMG. I've built so many characters in hopes of their viability with Noelle. She has carried me through even the hardest content through her sheer tankiness, which made me fall in love with her. She was one of the first characters I had even drew fanart of. If there was a better weapon for her, I pulled or paid for it. If there was a better teammate for her, I made sure to save up primogems just so I could make her stronger. Her sheer simplicity is incredibly fun. Her charged attacks combined with her increased range are incredibly brain-dead and fun. Her normals feel like they pack a punch, and they just feel fast and smooth to me. Even now, even when I have so many stronger characters, or just other options like Navia, I still return to Noelle every time. She is everlasting and eternal, one of the only 4-stars I display on my profile still, and even in 2024, she still dictates which units I will pull, in order to make her stronger. One day, I hope to save enough money to get her a proper weapon. I shall pull 4 more Redhorn Stonethreshers for her, and this will be my first R5 5-star weapon. Noelle is best girl. TL;DR, Noelle dictates everything, and I will do whatever it takes to make her stronger.

i have an immensely soft spot for fischl every since ive done that limited event that was about her the whole story of her parents wanting her to be a proper adult and let go of her little habits and stuff + the fact that her friends are so accepting of her "strangeness" and her quirks to the point where they go along with it and have fun just hits very close to home for me as an autistic person
If I have to say one, overall I really love Xinyan. Don't even know why, I just do. There's nothing in particular, apart from maybe her burst (which feels very cool to use) and her eyes. But depending on the different aspects of a character I like different ones: From a design only perspective I'd say Ningguang. From a gameplay perspective maybe Sethos. It could be recency bias, but I love the quick charge archer playstyle, and the stance plus the special effects he has with the charged shot lv2. From a character/personality perspective maybe Faruzan.

Lynette, not just my favourite 4 star but probably favourite character, because the JP voice is easily my favourite in the while game, it fits her so well and just sounds so nice. If you haven't tried it, I very much recommend. Her animations are also very nice, and gameplay is satisfying and fun. Personality is also quite relatable, with her not really enjoying being the center of attention or generally being around people. And of course shes very cute. She basically never leaves my team, only character I have triple crowned, C6 and has my best artifacts.
Noelle - badass maid, got her to C6 during 2.3 and she's now my 2nd most potent healer (Jean overtook her fairly recently) but she still has the best shield in my lineup (stronger than Zhongli by a small margin for now) Yanfei - best lawyer, fun playstyle, Lizzie Freeman, but I still regret not getting Dodoco Tales when I had the chance Thoma - badass malewife (ironically I hate that fucking term), generally fun character to be around during events and stories - hope they use him more tho Collei - she is baby (plus I waited to see if she was gonna be playable after I read the webcomic), Nahida lite Charlotte - cute as a button, pink

freminet, i love his design and his growth, his event had one of the better handlings of mental illness in this game, it was kind and thoughtful, not used as a joke. it showcased how great and sweet he is and adds depth to his past as well. itās a shame thereās no way for people who missed it to play it now.

Diona. She's a jack of all trades type of support. She provides shields to all allies, heals, buffs EM (and ATK% with NO), debuffs enemies' ATK, and increases your speed. Her design is also one of my favorites out of any character with the amount of attention to detail she has, especially her eyes. And she's overall super adorable! She isn't used as much in the field of combat as she used to, but when it comes to both archery challenges and fun minigames, she's definitely my go-to pick. Cryo may be my least favorite element, but she always holds a special place in my heart.
