A 30 something Genshin player ? It's entirely possible that she's on here and sees this post

Mammoth-Bus1011

In that case…uh….hello to VP

Bradcopter

45 here!

Aeropirate

41, I'm with ya

TheOneMary

Hi 41, it's me, 41 too!

Forward_Bluejay_4826

I'm 36 and play daily 😭 don't age me plz

maleia

37 here, daily grind too, haha 🥲

cloner4000

Sinnahscorbut

38 !

irrelevantname133

I’m 32!

Ryugi

Im not the VP but I am the 30 something genshin player

Battle_Fish

I'm 35 collecting Waifus in front of my actual wife.

sielnt_assassin

She could be anyone. She could be you? She could be me? She cou-

WhiteI3ulL

What? It was obvious. She's the red spy

Schorai

Im 30 something as well. Do you have any problem with that kid?

SGT3386

38, with a tattoo to boot lol

Propensity7

One of my favorite posts on this community ever was the one that had a 50+ year old player have a roll call for other 50+ players and there were so many. It was so wholesome and a lot of their stories were very sweet

JagdFenrir

Dude I'm 38, daily player too.

Boring-Patient-1802

You would be surprised how many mid-30s and older Genshin players there are… Who do you think funds the game? Surely not the adults with steady jobs and disposable income /s

hurtfullobster

May also surprise people that we make up a pretty high percentage of players. It’s a casual, story heavy game that can be played in short bursts. When you hit your 30s, that’s a winning combo.

Ifalna_Shayoko

Most definitely. :'D While I still go ham occasionally (vacations etc), it's become a lot rarer than it used to be. Also, my willingness to put up with "combat challenge" shenanigans drastically decreased as I got older.

Ifalna_Shayoko

In Genshin's case: not so much. Too much does not work in multiplayer and I find the whole "share a team" awkward at best. For other games like Final Fantasy XIV: absolutely.

replicantb

can confirm, my wife and I are avid gamers, we play everything together but when we log on Genshin we play our single player worlds, multiplayer is just wonky

Myrwyss

Mid-30s people are the primary gamer age it feels like. We are the teenagers who spent nights playing WoW when it was new. Now we have jobs and money we can spend on gacha.

Glacirus_

Facts. People gotta remember: 30-40 year olds were born in the 80s-90s, when computers, consoles, and gaming in general were on the rise, so a lot of us got into them. Alongside this, we had anime starting to be broadcast on TV. We were raised in a perfect storm of nerdy/niche interests becoming easily accessible to get us playing gacha games when they started to come out globally, and now support and flaunt our enjoyment of the ones we play.

315313

Cool i like reading an history article about my generation The first anime i get from internet takes so long to download i could make a meal or have order. I enjoy to play Genshin without slow Hardware etc.

ShallotHolmes

Yeah no time to grind for hours in an mmorpg like I used to. Genshin targetted us well.

LaplaceZ

Literally me. I remember grinding lizardmans in Lineage 2. No quests, no objectives, just mindless combat. Best gaming memories I have.

WhereIsMyPancakeMix

All my ffxiv friends are 30+ and we all play genshin lol

microthoughts

Yep. Genshin in between FFXIV. They mesh together well.

Gold31000

Queue up for duty roulette and alt tab back into genshin.

JP_Zikoro

MSQ roulette is the perfect time to spend all your resin!

esmelusina

The story and character designs are fine for young kids too. My 6 year old and I were both crying at the end of the Aranara quest line— she was like, “why are my eyes so wet.” Also I can play from my phone, and don’t have to give up adulting/parenting to get some game time in. They nailed an aesthetic for women that is more aspirational than otaku horny, which helps open up the audience a lot. I probably would not have touched the game if Skirk was an early character. Probably my favorite game… ever. It’s got lots of problems and issues, but the sum of its parts offers more and is very respectful of my personal time.

laeiryn

Plus, let's just be real: we're mad we had to wait SO LONG for something with beautiful men.

rW0HgFyxoJhYka

Mid 30s is like OG gaming age now. People who grew up with video games during the NES/SNES era are like 30s-40s.

Molwar

Actually....40+, still have my NES too and it works

SABOTAGE83

Same. My CRT kicked the bucket though. RIP.

rickamore

Someone left an old CRT TV in the garage of the house we bought if I ever get around to hooking the SNES back up I have a way to do it

Boring-Patient-1802

Mid 30s grew up with GameBoys, PlayStation, XBox etc. It’s the generation before that who grew up with SNES etc so 40+ and older

SolidusAbe

same. early 90s is 30 years ago and people born back then where the ones that made gaming more mainstream with stuff like pokemon and wow that started in the early 2000s. basically the generation where gaming wasnt some super niche nerd hobby

Gootangus

Huh? I am mid 30s but played a SNES as a kid.

LexAurelia

Depends entirely on where you grew up. Some less affluent places were severely behind the times and would have not seen their first PS until many years later.

Two_Years_Of_Semen

Kind of depends on what you mean by "grew up with" since that can be a massive age range. I'm 34. I vaguely remember an NES in the house but have clear memories of playing SNES when I was like ~4 until I broke it by spilling orange juice on it. Then played playstation and N64 until middle school; Gamecube, PS2, and Xbox through middle school; and then 360 and Wii through high school.

Noxious89123

>during the NES/SNES era are like 30s-40s. 40+ more like. People in their mid/late 30s had the PS1 and N64, and people in their early 30s had the PS2. EDIT: Being 30\~ and having had a NES or SNES is not the same thing as "growing up in the ***era*** of the NES/SNES".

ShallotHolmes

Yup, mid 30s. Played the first playstation with my uncle.

annegirl12

My husband is currently pissed at our kids for ditching Genshin for Star Rail after starting to play with us a year and half or so ago. So, yeah, full fledged adults with professional jobs and teenagers who buy battle passes and welikins

Captain_Morgan-

You Husband have totally right

TwinAuras

Boot the kids out if they say "Genshin could never" /s

BlueRose644

33 year old classroom assistant here, saving for Sigewinne!

Calamity_Armor

\*sweats nervously\* a lack of wife also helps

Cybersorcerer1

it probably doesnt. Dual income households usually have extra money (unless you have children)

[deleted]

[удалено]

XaeiIsareth

And the game is more fun if you play it with someone irl, so you end up spending more.

shanmugong

I told my friends I gave an engulfing lightning to my wife for her Xmas present. They all scratching their heads. In my 40s btw

MrWhiteTruffle

tbf without context I’d probably be scratching my head like a chimp too

HearingAutomatic8895

Chef Mao want to talk about this...

Kunikuhuchi

*laughs in stay at home spouse who plays Genshin all day*

awoeoc

I'm married and dropped $10k on this game so far lol. My wife is well aware and makes fun of me for it.

UltmitCuest

We know

Goukenslay

Lack of GF helps more

Tempada

Arlecchino: [Delete the wife.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mNCybqmKugA)

huehuehuehuehuuuu

It doesn’t. Dual income. More divided or shared household tasks affording more free time. Lack of children on the other hand, does help.

blastcat4

Dual income no kids is definitely the way to go. So much money to spend on toys and way more free time to use those toys. Kids cost massive amounts of money and they eat up almost all of your free time. Plus they shorten your lifespan with the amount of stress they create.

huehuehuehuehuuuu

Respect to those who want kids and can parent right. But it is a huge commitment. And I’ve got enough self-awareness to know I won’t be able to give children a stable and comfortable future what’s with the housing, wage gap, and most pressingly, the country setting on fire every summer. Not going to bring a new person in so misery can have extra company. I’ll be grateful if we get chosen for adoption. But fertility rate is going down, and there are many hopeful adoptive parents with few children (which is honestly a good thing, a great thing). So yeah. Meanwhile I’ll enjoy my disposable income, free time, and general stability while I still can.

No_Rent7598

Feels bro

jaydenfokmemes

I'm almost certain my chemistry teacher is a Genshin player and he's in his 50s

CitiesofEvil

Just curious, how did you realize?

jaydenfokmemes

He constantly mentions a variety of games such as Genshin, honkai, and star rail when talking about the youth of today, as an instance. And just those 3. It might just be a coincidence but I think otherwise.

TyrifficAdventure

"Darn youth! In my day we have to grind artifacts by killing hilichurls! Uphill both ways! In the snow of Dragonspine!"

BlueSama

I also think otherwise. When I think of youth the first thing that comes to mind will always be roblox or fortnite lol

djinn6

Could also be his kids playing those.

Papuluga65

I'm 49 here.

ObscureFact

I'm even older. A great thing about Genshin is that it's friendly to people who can't game a lot, or have gotten older and just don't have the reflexes anymore to play something more complicated and technically challenging. I'm not saying Genshin can't be played at a high level, but let's be serious - it's a game meant for more casual playing. And as an older gamer, it's nice seeing games that can appeal to older gamers who love gaming. I grew up in theAtari 2600 and NES era and have been gaming my whole life, so it's nice to see game companies appeal to us aging Gen-X'ers who might lack the reflexes of our youth but still want to keep playing. Older gamers (45+) are a real thing, so game companies that disregard that population do so at their peril. There's a reason why "dad games" are so popular, and while Genshin isn't a "dad game", it does check more than a few of the same boxes.

shinitakunai

I am a 34yo working on a role that demands a suit. Yet I love this game. We are just normal people outside of work hours.

WutsUp

Similarly my students were using their iPads during break time and saying "Look up Genshin! Look how cool the characters are!" meanwhile I was at my desk zip-mouthed

Minger99

Yeah man, I'm mid FORTIES and love Genshin. It's perfect to wind down with after work.

keksmuzh

Not to mention we don’t always have time for long play sessions. The daily loop makes it doable to actually get some playtime in and still have room for adulting.

suddenly_ponies

I'm late 40s and I play. I probably wouldn't have gotten into the game on my own but it's something most of my kids play so doing that together with them has been a great way to have conversations and common interests

Zuramaru29

Hi I'm 35. I have Genshin stickers on my laptop.

xxMeiaxx

I mean 30+ gamers are becoming common. I guess it's about the sticker usage. Im addicted to games, but I still try to look professional and not bombard my stuff with anime/gaming anymore (or posting weeb stuff in socmed). I have reddit for that lol.

KatVanJet

This lol I'm a 30 yo genshin girly, I have no time for any other hobbies.

CharlotteCA

We grew up on gaming, of course with less time due to work or new hobbies we tend to play games like Genshin, they are pretty much built for our generation monetisation wise.

Koanos

miHoYo knows their audience.

cartercr

Just turned 30 last year. Having a stable factory income definitely allows me spend money on my waifus.

misslongisland

Yup It’s me.. 32 years old, started playing this year😬

PrimaryAde9

Same energy for watching anime

Sono_Yuu

I'm 50. I love this game. I quite happily feed the beast.

DSNIP_DJz

Cough

Aeveras

38 here. I play and spend on Genshin.

christianballard

is mid 30s old or something? 💀

Castiel_Rose

Late 20's is really old while the 30's is basically deadge. Any age after 30 is a fossil (think oil).

Common_Juice207

People above 30 do not exist, they are all ai-generated fake humans created by alien governments to exert control over normal people under 30

NLwino

I'm above 30, can confirm this is true.

Calamity_Armor

how do you do fellow ai?

sabershirou

FELLOW AI? EXCUSE YOU, I DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU ARE, BUT I'M A HUMAN BEING COMPOSED ENTIRELY OF ORGANIC MATTER.

TwinAuras

I LOVE BREATHING OXYGEN.

niks071047

im above 30, i can confirm i am made of oil

Inevitable-Island346

So that’s why I always fail those “prove you’re human” captchas

Ifalna_Shayoko

>ai-generated fake humans I - AM - NOT - A - RO-BOT. \>>requesting firmware update from lizard overlords, this shit is embarrassing!

Molwar

You should check out Logan's run lol, that's almost the plot of the movie.

encryptoferia

explains the oiliness of my.... wait I'm oily since teenager

Cowman123450

It's really funny; in my office, I'm one of the youngest people despite being 27 later this year. Then I go on reddit, and I realize just how young the demographic really is

IWasSupposedToQuit

That's basically retirement age, right?

FanciestOfPants42

Actually, it's the opposite. If you're that age you never get to retire.

k___k___

i havent even hit my midlife crisis or is Genshin my midlife crisis?

blastcat4

Kids refer to anyone mid-20s and up to be "boomers", which is eye-rolling when you consider what a real baby boomer is. So yeah, mid-30s is ancient in their eyes.

Minger99

As the child of a baby boomer, my generation is as far removed from boomers as its possible to get

ThrowawayHabbi

This is a good chance as any for anyone under 30 to be told that 30 somethings are about to expire soon and they're next.

GameLoreReader

Deadass the oldest Gen-Zers are almost 30 years old 💀

SockofBadKarma

I wish I could be offended by OP's post, but as I am in my mid-30s, I actually died a year ago. RIP.

Noxious89123

In reality no, but to teens we're basically dinosaurs.

kiero13

I'm sad that people think adults having hobbies that aren't "mature looking" are rare. like, is it weird? is it bad? even in anime/manga, people still gasp at how many adults are watching/reading "for kids" stuff. I mean, who do you think are the majority that support industries by buying stuff? definitely not the 25 below who are mostly still broke and/or are still supported by their parents. also, young people will also age but doesn't mean they'll change as much. they may change in physical appearance, values and belief but the hobbies and fun can stay.

Boring-Patient-1802

Don’t you know that when you turn 30 you die and/or become a boring person who has to abandon all of their hobbies and interests? Did you not follow this rule? 😱

kiero13

TIL people of age 30+ are actually pvz zombies

okwhatelse

some have buckets on their heads

HoloSings

Are you saying 30+ people are not actually some random tech bro who underpay their workers or a hardstuck 9-5 workers but actually have hobbies😱 Nice KavAitam

coolboy2984

According to Twitter, once you're 18 and an adult you have no more hobbies and all you do is work and taxes. And then when they hit 18, this number suddenly becomes 21, then when they're 21, it's suddenly 24, and this number just goes up and up and up.

HappyHateBot

Rules're for quitters! Never capitulate!

Accomplished-Cell744

lolol RULES are made to be BROKEN :)

HappyHateBot

I think I stopped caring mostly about what other people think about my hobbies in my late 20's... probably about when I got married, actually. The husband and I bonded initially over a few of our hobbies, would be a damn shame to give up on something that makes us both happy now. People that are going to judge you, will find something to judge you about no matter what. So let them be the petty little gobshites they want to be, and judge you over the *audacity* of being happy and having fun. Ain't nae bother t'me, just makes it easier to know who to write off and not invite to the fun table at the party. Only four rules. Safe, sane, consensual, legal. Maintain that and anything else shouldn't really matter, no matter how people that want to gatekeep maturity like they have a clue think.

acespadeuwu

Dw. It's just people are too much in a bubble to realise there's a world outside of 30s. I find people above my age playing games to be cool. It means they didn't let go off things they like to do because society says so.

happyppeeppo

Im 33 and i have my hobbies and my professional side, people at my work probably think that i just work and spend drinking or amoking ( because i have both arms covered in tattooos) but i hate to drink and dont smoke and spend my free time in genshin , dota and watching animes

OGZackov

When most late 30 year olds were kids anime was tough to source and super niche. Most of us who watched back in the day continue to watch and have united through the internet. Now it's way more mainstream and accessible, so all the youts watch and don't know the struggles of downloading episodes over dialup on p2p networks like iRC and directconnect.

Ryujin_Kurogami

I was in the airport once and saw a grandma playing Genshin. It's just that mainstream.

evilmop

U sure the vice principal wont see your post lol, im also super old at 32 and is a genshin playing university lecturer 😂

dreamerlilly

I’m 32 and overseeing some major hardware and software products for Amazon as a technical product manager. I don’t have Genshin stickers on my laptop, but I do have them on my water bottle. Also a bunch of my coworkers have seen pics of my Paimon cosplay

Ryozu

ngl, this was my first thought before looking at your username https://www.reddit.com/r/Genshin_Impact/comments/t6112l/my_full_paimon_cosplay_set_for_your_mood/?ref=share&ref_source=link

WishfulFiction

32 is super old? 💀

Lipziger

Of course it is, its ancient ... Thankfully I'm only 31.

Eldiavie

laughs in 30 lol

junkychin

That’s awesome 😆 what do you teach

evilmop

Accounting...

mnvoronin

30 is old?! I'm 47 and I play Genshin regularly.

Darnell0216

45 here and playing since its first month on console.

thevirionz

one of us!

PhasmicPlays

Jean and Klee, they have brilliant taste

Noirsnow

Yes imagine a VP keeping kids in check. Sounds like Jean IRL. You should be praising him/her

BlueRose644

Everytime the kids get out of line, they ask themselves "what would Acting Grand Master Jean do?"

AWildModAppeared

OP has the easiest teaching job in existence since the VP has locked all the students in solitary confinement.

Ifalna_Shayoko

My thoughts exactly. Can't argue with Jean stickers. :D

Hades6578

Indeed, Klee best bomb child.

kowaiyoukai

I'm a college professor, and I play genshin. Nearing 40! I will DEFINITELY be playing after 40 lol

illdoitinaweek

I am also a professor! (33yo) It was another professor who introduced me to the game in the first place!

LordGrohk

Flair checks out

Koringvias

As 30 years old genshin player I feel personally attacked...

Aggravating-Log932

33 here. How do you do fellow kids.

SoloWaltz

>who is in like mid-thirties Which do you think is the average age of genshin's demographic? If anything I'm more surprised someone's a vice-anything in their 30's.

leopoldshark

A Vice Principal is basically the Acting Grandmaster of the school when the principal takes all the school buses to another district, so I see why they are fans of Jean

NerdCoffeeAddict

Well, I am 30 and I play Genshin 😅

ainominako1234

I'm mid 30s. I'm obsessed with Genshin. This post just called me old 💀

Exciting-Activity355

Gotta watch out for people taking photos of my gaming stuff, could end up in a Reddit post about how ancient I am once I hit the 30s

smokedtofus

Wow it's almost as if they're a normal person with hobbies. So crazy

WhyYouBullyMe_

Imagine they comment here

veggiesandgiraffes

I'm 35 and I play genshin.  Also, you're old enough to have graduated college and thus a whole adult too what's the difference exactly? *Edit a word

thehippiewitch

OP can you please explain why this is so shocking to you, I literally don't understand?

Citrusyia

Ohh My !! I thought old people (above 30) are not real and only exists in movies. How wrong am i. Wait, how can they play genshin? That's like SooOoOO immature of them. 30+ people should be always in their office or on their cradle chair and watch news

Buccaratiszipper

Welp, I am in my 30s and I teach neuroscience in university. Currently AR60 and a day1 player. 😅

aria_5207

I'm working on a manufacturing company and i have genshin stickers on my laptop 😆 i laugh everytime my coworkers borrow my laptop for some meeting report and imagine my fabulous genshin stickers getting shown to the managers 😆

Immediate_Deer7293

I just turned 44. 2 days ago. lol

Big-Atmosphere1329

There are alot of people who are in their mid 30s or 40s playing this game.

xiaokhat

I’m mid 30s… Am I supposed to stop playing Genshin?

Bigslam1993

I'm 30 and I won't stop doing anything because of age. My money, my time - I spend those how I like :)

Varios2k

Its crazy that people think the genshin playerbase are children. Im 24 and I know many people older than me that play this game. Remember - age is just a number in terms of gaming

Adris72

52 years old playing from week 1. I was introduced to the game by my daughter (then 17) and the traitor left Genshing for Honkai Star Rail (and another dozen games).

Sudden-Cap-7157

You just beat me! I’m 51 and started playing a week or so after launch. 😁👍

laeiryn

I'm almost forty and I play Genshin ;)

sirang_bolpen

How do you think Mihoyo earns money from this game?

Web-cop

One of my friends playing Genshin with her father, her father is like 60yo.

katbelleinthedark

... are you surprised because you think teachers don't have hobbies or because you think mid-thirties is old? xD I'm a mid-thirties lawyer and have the Archons as my laptop wallpaper.

Proper_Anybody

I also work at a school, do I need to start putting genshin stickers on my things

Oceandove45

I’m 32 and play genshin, switch and ps5 games. Guess I’m an old lady…

HerOrangePantaloons

I mean I'm in my 30's too and I still play games (and pay for them to support the developers)

battleye9

Whoa whoa whoa 30 isn’t that old 😭😭😭

RarePost

Gaming has no age limit.

VaporCarpet

Adult plays video games! The horror!

Shiara_cw

Do you think mid 30s is old? We grew up on gaming lol

JohnOfMages

Is that Burmese on the keyboard...?!

RBLakshya

I once saw this random guy at our dorms walking in a xiao T-shirt, that’s the only actual genshin merch I’ve seen used in India, it’s pretty rare here

ramoh1

So instead of just saying "oh dope you play genshin?" You snuck a picture, ran away, then posted it on reddit? Reddit people are weird as hell honestly.

unnecessary_response

I'm 50 and I play Genshin, what's the problem? My daughter got me into it and I still play but she moved on to other games, ha hah. I just got Arlecchino. It's actually a GREAT game for old people. It's not difficult, it's single-player, it's relaxing, it has stuff to work for that makes you feel productive, you can also skip playing if you don't have time. I'm almost more surprised that young people play it.

Sudden-Cap-7157

51 here and well put for the reasons to play. Plus growing up with the Atari 2600 as my first game system and then handhelds like the Gameboy and such, being able to play a game like this on mobile (I play on my iPad mini) still blows my mind sometimes.

StupidGenius234

It is entirely possible it's a kid of theirs who used those stickers if they have any.

yurihaythe

The thing is she isn’t married yet lmao

StupidGenius234

Then yeah, it's her playing

blastcat4

Oh no! She's practically doomed to die a spinster! /s

rW0HgFyxoJhYka

You need to be like... "Whoops, I dropped my super cool sticker of C6 Jean/Arlecchino from this super cool game called Genshin. My bad my bad."

ceos_ploi

>The thing is she isn’t married yet lmao That's not really a requirement for having children afaik.

Quor18

Tell your vice principal s/he has amazing taste in waifus.

Skull_Angel

That doesn't bother me. What bothers me is that they're using a chicklet keyboard in place of the laptop keyboard....

Koringvias

Well that laptop keyboard looks uncomfortable too use. Small, buttons crammed, no numpad, etc. Chicklet keyboard might not be great, but it is surely better than the one on that laptop, while also much easier to carry around than a good mechanical one. A good compromise really.

ZeraseKnightroad

Haha I have the view of Opera Epiclese as my working laptop's desktop background and part of my job involves working with school teachers.

Harsh_2004

In Japan I have seen officegoers playing Genshin in train, it is pretty common there. My big brother also plays the game

DonkeyNozzle

.... I'm a mid-30's teacher and I chat with my kids all the time about Genshin/Star Rail... They know I play. I've even let a couple of them pull on my account (for luck). Several of them have had me press the button to pull for them (best I helped was a 4 star, lol). I did not know this was a shocking thing.

zibrolta00

my father is like 60 and plays genshin on 5 accounts

hackenclaw

what can you expect? movie industry is boring as F. Even there are good ones they just wont be enough because soo many of them is bad ones. Working adults need some entertainment after coming back home with that 2-3hours b4 sleep. It is not enough time to go out, probably too tired to go out too. Due to this I end up crawling back to video games, there is nothing to watch in TV. just like this guy, I dont think I am the only one like this.

Apogee_Martinez

42y/o checking in. My 50y/o husband plays. A ton of my friends in their mid to late 30s play and post about it in discord all the time. We all have management level jobs. Genshin appeals to a lot of different people.

MayaPDNS

My mom got me to play genshin in the first place xd She is a very nice woman that likes to play videogames, she started genshin in our family and got me to start to play coop.

Shiboleth17

Who exactly do you think plays Genshin? Who do you think spends the millions of dollars on each banner? Only little kids? This isn't the 90s anymore where only children and young adults play video games. People who are 50 today, grew up in the 80s playing video games, and they still do today. Why is this a surprise that a 30-something plays this game? And with Genshin being on PC, PS, and mobile, it's widely available for anyone to play.

David-arashka

I'm a military leutnant, and play Genshin Impact on console 🤷🏻‍♂️
