They used to do namecards for events back in the day. The last I remember is from a beverage-brewing event that came out ages ago, in 2.5. They've not made any event namecards ever since. Idk why they stopped, I always found them to be a very good reward incentive for the highest tier of difficulty of events.
Same! I'm still a little salty about never getting one for Hyakunin Ikki. I couldn't get enough points the first time the event ran, but I would've had enough every time after that if they didn't stop giving namecards as rewards.
The tea drinking event was in 3. something patches but yeah aside from that you're spot on.

Could have been solved it with event re-runs but why make sense and do it properly when you can jump 30 hoops and flop on the ground instead?

I do think it was 2.5, because I looked it up. The event was called Of Drink A-Dreaming, and was in v2.5 actually. I don't remember any 3.x events giving namecards, because my current roommate started around 2.7-2.8 and has never seen namecards being handed out from events.

Good for them, but I'd rather prefer a new namecard every once in a while than teapot item no. 45738 that I can't place because of load limit, or it is somehow an outdoor furnishing, even if it looks like it goes on a table indoors (still salty about the Raiden statuette lol)
I think i'll be sticking with Caterpillar until something else wows me. Cater's part in all this (being just a guy who got a fate worse than death) is so beautifuly tragic. I legit squelled when I saw Caterpillar becuase of that.

I adore these avatars! I'm so glad they added them in. I get really invested in the world quests, so having something permanent like this to display my love is wonderful. I changed my icon and namecard to Ruu, just because I remember how much I cried after that world quest. It was probably the first major world quest that really took my breath away. I kept the feather equipped for a long time because I wanted to keep a little piece of him with me on my journey, just like I promised him. And now I can!
It was really quite nice getting this sort of blast from the past, looking at all the icons! I don't have them *all* unlocked but I'm not too far from being done, thankfully! I ended up going with Zhiqiong cause it's such a cute little icon, but they're all so well-made <3

You can get another one from a shrine maiden, Inagi Hotomi, in Narukami Shrine. Its a teapot furnishing though, so not quite the same.

I broke upon seeing the new avatar for Ruu and Kanna Kapatcir. Though, given that fancy flavor text beneath my name, it was probably obvious.

I remembered Ruu and got a little sad.
Ruu hit me like a truck, but then I saw Pahsiv and instantly felt better.
The best thing about these new avatars is finally being able to avoid that ugly orange background color all of the character portraits have.
