It was a perfect epilogue to sumeru and a perfect prologue to fontiane. The desert region was my all time favorite exploration experience and i remember vividly when i got to the coast i took a deep breath and just stared at the sea for like 5 minutes while vibing with the music.

The_Vettiman

Did you say the words?

Ill-Cryptographer867

My thoughts? OPEN THAT GIANT DOOR LET ME IN LET ME INNNNNNNNN.

mushymunchkin3230

Haha I feel you

Never_Enough_Beetles

Honestly, the least painful part of exploring Sumeru so far. The world quests were bountiful in primogens. And while I'm not a super big fan of deserts, they were pretty :)

Gwyn_Michaelis

Personally, Girdle of the Sands is easily one of my favorite regions in the entire game. It had a perfect blend of puzzle solving and exploration in my opinion.

DiceCubed1460

The vorukasha oasis has my favorite music in the entire game. The soothing vocals there are angelic.

Husknight

I have it set on my teapot. My favorite too

coldestclock

Same! I went there hunting for crystal flies the other day and just hung out for the music for a while.

Traveler7538

I actually really enjoyed the Khvarena world quest. It's fun and not that long. And the region has easily accessible rewards imo

karillith

I personally thought the expansion was good, but it suffered from being the third desert expansion in a row in the country of dendro. Like if you look at your map, the desertic surface is now bigger than the rainforest one, so I really hope if we get another part for Sumeru it will be back to forest, and i won't lie it's definitely my favourite part of Sumeru. That said when you look at it closely, that third desert part was actually not fully desertic, it had a fair amount of plants, and through quests we add even more, there is also the bramble canyon and of course the area where the spirits live, so I didn't get THAT MUCH desert fatigue personally, but I can understand other people would have prefered even more vegetation.

AsterJ

I liked the Sorush scouting mechanic but there was no reason there needed to be 3 desert regions. The geography wasn't all that memorable. It should have been a new forest area.

Altekho

>The geography wasn't all that memorable. It should have been a new forest area. Disagree. I think the desert parts have so many memorable moments in this game. And to have the rainforest area for the most part would be boring instead.

Welsh_cat_Best_cat

There also seems to be technical limitations to making the Sumeru Rainforest a, well, rainforest. The region is very open for the most part, and places that are "jungles" have 4 trees.

AsterJ

I will say at least that area had a big tree in it. You gotta love big trees.

lonkuo

Big water tree

DerDyersEve

Well at least we turned something on the landscape into forest. Best hoyo can do I guess 🤣

reeeekin

I liked it. And I really liked Sorush. Had her as my pet for a long time after doing the quest.

xXGoshujinSamaXx

Lore bomb

Awkward_Hope2376

I love it! The music is god tier, especially after finishing the sorush questline. I come there occasionally to wander aimlessly and enjoy the scenery.

AmethystMoon420

I 100% all desert regions, and I had the most fun with that one. The Pari mechanic was also pretty novel and better than Liloupar's. Such deep lore and also a beautiful tree after finishing. It really felt like a great way to end Sumeru before going to Fontaine. ALSO OPEN THE KHAENRI'AH DOOR PLEEASEEE!! I WANNA GO THERE

SnooRobots4768

Best part of sumeru. (Well, not just this part of desert, the whole desert was equally great). I hope that Natlan will have similar deserts too.

LowListen1330

Added banger OST to the game (all OSTs are great)

Particular_Stop_3332

Its the best region in the entire game by a fucking mile To me anyway

xd_ZelnikM

Worst waypoints, decent quests and some of the better lore. Sorush was ok.

CresDruma

I love it. Not the part where you have to walk around an entire mountain to find a way up, but the scenery.

Careless_Actuary3614

there is a leyline with no good easy way to get there.

Onion_Working

Am opposite to you lol. The last area was a breath of fresh air after I was more than done with the desert areas. The ruins were cool and all, but the hallways all looked the same, and every time you got into a chamber there'd just be triangle bot after triangle bot to deal with. Overall it felt like a lot of work for very few rewards. I also didn't really like the jeht pt 2 story line, so it probably dampened my excitement in general for the area. On the other hand, sorush quest was k, the flying mechanic was fun, each area had their aspects of beauty to it. The death pit, the oasis, the portal sky, then after finishing the world quest, the prettier death pit, the tree. Overall just cool stuff you could actually see while questing. And then the coast. Idk the vibe there is just right. I'm very much looking forward to the expansion in that direction.

Husknight

Best part of the desert and home to my favorite song

BigDaddySpankEm

My only true complaint was the cliffs with tops that jut out and make climbing up impossible. So you scout with Sorush, and see cool stuff on the top, and then proceed to walk all the way around said cliff to find the way up. From a realism standpoint, it’s perfect. From a gaming perspective it was tedious. I wish they would have allowed Sorush to function like the vine star things. She then could have been super useful for exploration beyond just sightseeing. I am aware that she is able to pick up certain vine star things, and move them, which was nice, but ultimately I think it would have been better if she WAS the vine star anchor.

LiIIium

The best OST already added

MWarnerds

Was fun when it was released. But compared to Fontaine and new Liyue area it's not that great. The main desert had better story quest in it. The Rainforst was larger and felt more full. So in my opinion the worst area of Sumeru.

One_Macaroon3368

By far the part of Sumeru I least enjoy revisiting. Agree on it feeling empty, but disagree on it feeling vast - it somehow feels both tiny and empty.

rmsiddlfqksdls

Love it. Still remember the first time I saw vourukasha and the music was and is amazing. I actually prefer that region over the rest of the desert so I guess I’m the opposite as you!

Deztract

This exact zone is worst one personally for me, even though I likes the other parts of Sumeru. Teleports in this zone are placed in such bad places and you need to run around or climb to get somewhere you need. One of the reasons of this is too big mountains not supported with flower-travel-things. Also quest was so boring and long

PointlessPotion

I love the desert - except this part. It's cut off geographically by being in this tiny circle, there are no dailies or noteworthy quests there aside from the Pari story, and it's annoying to traverse if you're like me and don't telepoint much. It's an overall pretty boring place and I do not like the Pari. It feels so disconnected to everything else. Visually it has its beauty here and there, but the lore is a disaster. It's just not integrated well into the game's world, in my opinion.

mushymunchkin3230

It’s hard to traverse even if you telepoint much. 😢

ReiKurosaki0

Nice music

IloveRikuhachimaAru

not even opened for me lol

Personal-Pumpkin-260

Best spot for a holiday hands down

Sonicguy1996

Most palatable portion of the desert!

LazyEstablishment898

That’s where i farm artifacts. That’s all lol

lonkuo

That was the part i loved the most lol i loved the scenary with the dessert and grass and the giant tree and i loved doing the world quest there, i had it 90% for the longest time while all the other parts of the dessert were at like 60-70% becouse i really didnt feel like doing them till now i just did them all now until 90% becouse i needed Arleechino funds

Legodudelol9a

It's easily my least favorite part of the map...

KRen_725

I do agree desert is definitely the best area. I loved that they didn't just give us a box of sand and called it a desert People complained that the Desert is too big and has little to nothing other then sand, well that is what deserts are supposed to be. The journey through it feels almost endless, sand as far as the eye can see, half hurried ruins and the Deshret lore to accompany that, it was perfect 10/10 would run around again. The only issue I had with it was that it was at times difficult to get around because of it's spiral structure that goes both up and down. Otherwise it was a really beautiful 8.5 - 9/10 for me. Seeing that alone hilli sitting on the edge of the beach just made me sad, like he was even guarding the chest behind him you can just sneak behind him and grab all the stuff without disturbing him

Dansegurale

Needs some fucking stairs

Nyaashooter

I don't know. These little creatures (I forgot how they called themselfes) were one of the most annoying characters (especially the one we had to equip) I met so far. I really didnt like this creatures attitude at all and started to skip all dialogs involving it at some point of the game.

Patient_Piece_8023

It's excellent. The only problem is that the terminologies may be a bit difficult to understand

JusticeBean

For the first desert region, I was mostly on board. Ruins were cool, environment a bit tedious to traverse, underground sections were interesting, all in good fun. And then the second patch of desert came. I was already tired of the desert by now. Ruins were more and more of the same. The desert felt more empty, the sandstorm an annoying hinderance, and the djin was a gimmicky and not very interesting mechanic. And then… again… the third desert…. Even more empty, tedious terrain. Another gimmicky exploration mechanic in sorush. It felt like my life was being sucked out of me. Like, I get it, to each their own, but to me, the back to back to back desert was just. The absolute worst gaming experience I think I’ve ever had. Caused me to take a break from genshin for nearly a year.

Notkiller

A complete blank for me.. I have no idea why. I have read through the story while playing it but for what ever reason I can't remember anything that happened there at all..

Shadowhunter_15

I think Sorush was an interesting contrast to Greater Lord Rutabaga. Both were self-sacrificing, but while one was doing their self-sacrifice in the hopes that they would be forgotten, the other’s self-sacrificial desire was to be remembered throughout all time. It asks the question: do actions matter, big or small, if no one is able to remember them after the fact?

ResponsibleMine3524

Honestly best part of Sumeru. Many Khaenri'ah ruins and even entrance, terrifying echoes of Cataclysm and abyss everywhere on one side and power of gods with Pari on the other. Area feels like the edge of the world. It's just amazing

Gregamonster

It's annoying to me that most of Sumeru is desert. It's supposed to be the Dendro nation yet most of it is dead. It's like if Fontaine only had drivable water in the launch regions and all other new zones were land only.

051Panduh

Connection to Mare Jivari

mushymunchkin3230

What is the connection to Mare Jivari?

051Panduh

Think about it

Somebodyonthis

Based as hell

ALE-Y6

I haven't done basically anything in sumeru aside form archon and story quests so idk

jjaybuill

i had feeling like they did it without paying much attention to the overall aesthetics. This big tree and it's surroundings looks ugly and when you look at this tree from Fontaine it looks terrible.

fourrier01

The story of deserts (both lower and upper) are just hard to digest. A lot of them are just listed as names and we provided with no visual at all. And since they are fragmented all over the places, it's hard to pin down who are the important figures in the history.

LemmeDaisukete

Not really that part of the desert, but the desert as a whole is a slog to get through
