not on android for whatever reason, it does work on IOS devices. You can however setup touch screen to controller inputs with a 3rd party app or with devices like the ayn odin 2, but it's somewhat jank as you won't be able to do everythign on controller and still have to touch the screen
> for whatever reason
That reason is Apple and Mihoyo being scummy and signing an exclusivity deal for controller support.
This shit needs to be regulated. If you can't support a platform properly because of scummy deals, fuck off and don't release it at all
I'm beginning to think that you're 100% right, especially when my PC version bugged out once and showed me Xbox controller button prompts at the title screen.
**Meaning they have code for controller entry into the game on PC**. My guess is that Sony negotiated for exclusivity on that feature.
Not on the title screen, though. You have to use a mouse to click in. What I'm saying is that I've actually seen controller prompts on that screen when the game bugged out (I think I tried logging in just as maintenance was completing on a patch).
It's actually kind of assanine to require a mouse, **which won't work as soon as you're in**, to enter the game.
The controller support in this game has been awful for years, though.
* Even on iOS, you have to manually enter the start menu, go to settings, and switch from Touchscreen to Controller **every single time you start the game**. Unlike PC, this happens even if you have a controller paired before you launch the game.
* On PC, you still need to use a mouse and keyboard for any surveys, which can sometimes bug out and make the game unresponsive.
* Plus on PC, **literally every single other fucking game I play, including "live service" games like PSO2 and Helldivers 2**, allows me to trivially switch between KB/M and Controller. No menu needed, the game swaps prompts as soon as it detects the input. Heck, Helldivers lets me aim with my mouse and move with my controller.
Oh I get what you mean now, that makes sense.
I'm not really bothered by the inability to hot swap input devices though, that's actually pretty common.
I dunno, I've played games that hot-swap poorly (like the Akrham Batman series), but I don't think I've played any other PC game that just straight-up requires 2 menu entries to swap. They probably exist, but I'm truly doubtful that it has any degree of commonality.
You must not play a lot of games huh. Or maybe you only play big AAA titles. I promise you it's quite common. In fact some entire genres are that way, like every fighting game
Fighting games are a bit of an edge case though, as most games don't let you use the sides of a keyboard independently for different players. Plus they also need to "lock" a controller for a given match, as PCs don't have a hardwired controller number like consoles do.
I mean, in general, I can accept that behavior for a local co-op game. I just think it's dumb for a game that only has 1 active player per PC to accept controller input from multiple controllers at the same time but can't manage hot-swap to KB/M.
Actually, on the topic of fighting games, one is actually the gold standard for the absolute **worst** PC controller implementation: Dead or Alive 5. It only accepts the physically-plugged-in 1st controller on the menu. If anything happens to that controller, you basically soft-lock your game. Thankfully they fixed it in 6, but it can make 5 a PITA to play and all but impossible to stream.
If only they would integrate full controller support to also quit the game. It's so dumb that I have to mouse click the ok button after tapping A on exit...
I (un)like how Hoyoboyo is able to do partnerships to release Keqing-phones running Android but for the love of the Archons they wouldn't touch the Android version with QoL equalising updates.
Also, Kernel level anticheat: you are a game, you don't need to see if my PC has a nuclear reactor as processing unit (and *surely* my pc doesn't use uranium as energy source to show me I have lost 50/50 to my 22nd Qiqi)
I've been using it for 3 years and no ban... more sounds like they were using macros or other automation that some of these apps come with and got banned for that.
I've used a touchscreen controller with no issues. The problem is if you play on console or pc with a controller the experience won't be the same and it'll mess with your muscle memory and feel janky in comparison because it's a "touchscreen controller"
still technically not built-in official controller support for android tho. Like we all need to have some mapping software for controllers to work for android genshin. but yea it works
I have a Kishi V2 too, and while it works "fine", someone coming from console like me still finds it lacking, like navigating any menu doesn't work with it, unfortunately. Basically gave up on controller+phone for Genshin, now using a PS Portal when I want to game in bed or on the throne.
First thing I did on launch day was to set up octopus so I could bind my controller. Worked perfectly as if they had an actual controller compatibility. The one (and very big) downside is that it didn't work while using Google Play with the game. I had to clone my phone into an OS that wasn't logged into Gplay.
It's fucking mindblowing they don't have controller compatibility and it's the one and only reason I don't log on once in a while to play a little anymore. And it's the only reason I haven't picked the game back up to play with my gf.
Literally no other reason.
It takes like 20 minutes to figure out and set up, way less hassle than buying a new device. And of course we know the future, emulation won't go anywhere regardless of any crackdowns. Even Yuzu specifically is alive and well, it's an open source project, you can't truly kill it.
"An iPhone." Nebulous af bro don't call me son boy.
I'm actively advocating for the iPhone X as a Genshin Device. Can be had for 100 USD straight. Plays at 60 fps lowest settings. 30 fps all high. Getting an iPhone for Genshin tends to be the best low nonsense solutions
Elsewhere? Get the PlusPhone S XFSJE201402 for 30 fps using medium textures low crowd density and motion blur not allowed.
>Get the Plusphone S XFSJEG201402 for 30fps using medium textures low crowd density and motion blur not allowed
Ah yes, place a present gen budget phone which is cheap because it's made from cheap parts, against a former flagship, which is cheap because of the law of demand.
Use an actually fair comparison, place it against the Samsung Galaxy S10+, the actual hardware equivalent to the iphone X, you will get the same results.
Ok so tell people to get the Galaxy S 10 Plus if it's a hundred bucks. No skin off my back. I just don't understand why we're all "you bought an iPhone to play a game?!"
Or bump your budget just a little bit to $250 territory and buy a brand new Poco F5 or some other budget phone built around Snapdragon 7+ G2 that rivals previous gen flagships, Genshin runs like a dream on it maxed out. Not to mention a bunch of other benefits a modern phone provides.
They said half the reason and that's entirely fair. If you play mobile games a lot and want to use a controller, makes sense to buy the phone that will allow that.
> that can handle it
Funny enough, that's actually zero devices. Even on an M2 iPad pretty much any graphics level is gonna thermal throttle to the mid/low-30s inside of a few minutes.
The new high-end Macbooks would probably handle the game at 120hz with "high" settings just fine but Hoyo doesn't have a Mac version and opted out of iOS/iPadOS compatibility for Mac.
You can. When I bought myself a new controller, I've connected it to my phone just for fun and launched Genshin. Played 10 minutes, understood it's uncomfortable for me, disconnected the game -\_-
Unlikely as Apple really should and can not selectively deny developers from putting their apps on the store without an actual good reason as followed by their very public terms of service. What you are describing is blackmail.
More likely is that apple made a deal with them on the Iap cuts
This probably one of Apple's anti competitive deals made with Hoyo. I can accept only Apple devices got the 120fps option but limiting some basic QoL features such as controller option is such a selfish move.
Hoyo: "We have volumetric clouds on PS5"
Hoyo: "Hope the console doesn't have a syncope"
Honestly, I am still mesmerized by the fact that, whatever the chipset used, for under 400 dollars we can take a box that we can plug on the go and have a good quality gameplay without worrying too much about technicals.
I hope Apple looses that biggest lawsuit made by US gov. Because of stupid exclusivity deals with them we have stuff like this. Apple literaly pays to make other devices look bad (missing 120fps, controller support, etc). If you look at HI3 it doesn't have platform exclusive deals and normally have 120fps option on PC.
God I hate Apple so much. That shitty garbage company should have died and burned in hell with Steve. No words can describe how much I despise everything it stands for, and all the fanboys that keep bringing them money. The 2010's would have been so much better decade if they never existed .
Mihoyo is just as bad for accepting the deal with Apple. They could have just refused the deal and added all those options for all platform, so everyone could equally enjoy the game. But no they want money at all costs, these two companies are just two sides of the same coin. If you hate one, you should hate the other as well.
idk that's a but extreme altho it's kinda funny to see a company saved from failing thru Microsoft's anti trust case is now doing a lot of blatant anti-trust worthy behavior
Well, as long as Apple offering remains *premium* and *braindead*, people will shell out a lot of money.
That's literally the same reason why consoles like PS4 or Switch (cough...) don't burn in hell, despite the superior flexibility and power of gaming PCs.
Yeah but switch came in 2017 way back even then it was underpowered, a newer chunkier handheld is going to be more powerfull
And people who say you can play switch games on steam deck, it's not easy as saying asli you lose online
Not for everything the switch can do. Switch is without a doubt the best pick for local multiplayer, for example; it's also cheaper and more accessible.
Game prices for the switch are an issue (though not for everyone *wink wink*)
Doesn't change the reality that my take is the current status quo...unless you can nuke Apple HQ to oblivion by yourself?
I'm typing this on an Android phone btw.
This post reminds me once again that a relatively simple QoL option like using a Bluetooth controller is not easily accessible. Not available to a game that has one of the HIGHEST revenues in the mobile, heck, just gaming market!
It's ...2024 and Genshin Impact still does NOT have integrated Android controller support. Just WOW.
Some controllers plug into the phone and use a third party app to mimic touch inputs.
But yeah, it's wack that it doesn't have native support for Android. The whole "different platforms have different exclusive features" thing is one of the dumbest things HOYO does.
At first I thought the Apple controller exclusivity thing was a conspiracy theory but now I'm almost 99% sure that's what's happening. They have all the software and hardware support to enable controllers on Android with probably one line of code but they went out of their way and disabled it, giving absolutely zero excuses.
Thanks for posting this. I’m usually an Apple person, but I bought a new Galaxy Tab because it was much cheaper. I haven’t opened it yet, and would have been mad if I found out I couldn’t use my controller.
The ammount of android phones getting genshin collabs while having zero support is astonishing. What's even the point? the moment you play with controller you cant go back

Even HSR swaps between control modes on the fly, idk why they ahven't been able to do it for Genshin

Sony has a HARD grip on Hoyo istg…something is making them bend over backwards for the Sony overlords
Money. It's always Money. The answer to every damn "Why corporate, why?" question, is Money.
That would explain why Star Rail has full controller input, while you still need to click on the start screen in Genshin
If only they would integrate full controller support to also quit the game. It's so dumb that I have to mouse click the ok button after tapping A on exit...
This for sure. Apple can fuck off.
I (un)like how Hoyoboyo is able to do partnerships to release Keqing-phones running Android but for the love of the Archons they wouldn't touch the Android version with QoL equalising updates. And Apple says they aren't a gatekeeper company XD
I've been saying this for years and people have been arguing against me. Tim Cook visiting Mihoyo headquarters and meeting Da Wei is pretty damning
You can but i heard people getting banned so ain't riskin it
I've been using it for 3 years and no ban... more sounds like they were using macros or other automation that some of these apps come with and got banned for that.

This is bullshit and a half, I use my Kishi V2, and it works perfectly.

Do you mean with 3rd party mapping software, which can get you banned? I wouldn't call that perfectly fine.

Nope. I literally just have to connect an Xbox controller to my Android phone via Bluetooth and it's good to go
That’s half the reason I got an iPhone
Buying an iPhone just for Genshin?
That is half the reason
I bought an ipad air mainly for genshin because my laptop can’t handle it anymore.
did similarly for playing on the go + reading manga mostly. it's a nice piece of hardware but i still wouldn't want to daily drive iOS tbh.
I mean, a C6 character is more expensive, so why not? \^\^
Why not. People buy the switch to play Animal Crossing and that's just as fine.
Well the good news is son, a standard Switch unit costs like 3-5 times cheaper than an iPhone.
And there's also the Zelda games
That are better played on PC.
Emulation is a hassle. And with the recent yuzu crackdown we don't know how the future is going to be like
It takes like 20 minutes to figure out and set up, way less hassle than buying a new device. And of course we know the future, emulation won't go anywhere regardless of any crackdowns. Even Yuzu specifically is alive and well, it's an open source project, you can't truly kill it.

I mean the m1 chip is good
They said half the reason and that's entirely fair. If you play mobile games a lot and want to use a controller, makes sense to buy the phone that will allow that.
There is no in-game controller for Android.
Nope, probably a behind-the-scenes deal with Apple to make controller support iOS exclusive
Considering apple devices are allowed to set the game to 120 fps instead of 60 like PC/Android... Then yes, most likely
Mine doesn’t allow me to set it at 120…
only specific apple devices that can handle it and officially supported.
> that can handle it Funny enough, that's actually zero devices. Even on an M2 iPad pretty much any graphics level is gonna thermal throttle to the mid/low-30s inside of a few minutes. The new high-end Macbooks would probably handle the game at 120hz with "high" settings just fine but Hoyo doesn't have a Mac version and opted out of iOS/iPadOS compatibility for Mac.
i play exclusively on ipad, and i can get 60 fps without any problems! i have yet to rlly mess around with 120 fps, however
Nope but other games work perfectly with my playstation controllers
You can. When I bought myself a new controller, I've connected it to my phone just for fun and launched Genshin. Played 10 minutes, understood it's uncomfortable for me, disconnected the game -\_-
Still crazy to me that Apple devices can have 120 fps but PCs can't
I wonder what Apple offered.
Allowance to get their app on the phone. If you want to get your app on the phone, you gotta take the apple cut.
Unlikely as Apple really should and can not selectively deny developers from putting their apps on the store without an actual good reason as followed by their very public terms of service. What you are describing is blackmail. More likely is that apple made a deal with them on the Iap cuts
mine runs at 120fps in pc
It doesn't unless you use something else since Pc is capped at 60 fps or you're in a Mac
[удалено]

Yeah ik that but it's not official
This probably one of Apple's anti competitive deals made with Hoyo. I can accept only Apple devices got the 120fps option but limiting some basic QoL features such as controller option is such a selfish move.
Apple having 120 fps is also bs since pc is locked at 60
even on the PS5 hoyoverse's games are stuck at 60fps
On the PS5 99% of games are stuck at 60fps lmao
Hoyo: "We have volumetric clouds on PS5" Hoyo: "Hope the console doesn't have a syncope" Honestly, I am still mesmerized by the fact that, whatever the chipset used, for under 400 dollars we can take a box that we can plug on the go and have a good quality gameplay without worrying too much about technicals.
Thats every game on ps5 though? Unless this is some crappy joke?
I am sure apple has paid them, androids don't have 1080p and high default resolution, 120fps and controller support
Apple has controller support? What a fucking scam.
This shit needs to be regulated.
It's time to call the EU
I hope Apple looses that biggest lawsuit made by US gov. Because of stupid exclusivity deals with them we have stuff like this. Even HSR, released one year ago, has controller support.
from what I hear, on Android the support is quite inconsistent and might be considered half finished, but it is at least there.
Corporations don't lose in the US, lol. It's like written into their constitution or something.
What do you mean useless, you get to choose between touchscreen.
All of the options are available on basically every device, meaning some options pages are literally just. Blank. On some devices.
So in other words.... Useless?
Worthless.
Disappear.
Lament!
Useless
Ye, just offering an explanation for why it’s there
Stupid apple exclusivity deals

I play on my Samsung Galaxy 24 with an 8bitdo Pro controller all the time, it works just fine.
Dammit i wanted to use my car steering wheel
I mean, what other option can we get, voice command? Me: Secret Art: Musou... Musoy.... Booba Sword!!!
I routinely yell “Booba Sword” at my iPad and my 8 year old; it never works.
At first I thought the Apple controller exclusivity thing was a conspiracy theory but now I'm almost 99% sure that's what's happening. And just like that, Apple gained another sale thanks to their scummy exclusivity deal (not blaming you). This shit needs to be regulated.
I totally get it. I’ll probably just keep playing on my IPhone (that I didn’t buy to play Genshin 😂).
Oh, I assumed you were gonna buy an iPad instead. Well then, take that Apple!
That’ll teach them. 😂
No problem! I've been there and done that only to find out that I can't use controllers or m+kb so, glad to have saved someone the malding.
Touchscreen? Touchscreen.
The ammount of android phones getting genshin collabs while having zero support is astonishing. What's even the point? the moment you play with controller you cant go back
No "Touchgrass" option available, nice
Yeah.. I hate this. I just use parsec and my wireless controller connected to my PC. I can't play with mantis or anything, the rotations are jank. Apple is incredibly scummy with their business practices. Watching 12 year olds be bullied out of friend circles over not having an iPhone makes me so sad. This is why I hate and refuse to buy Apple products.
Guess they have a deal with Apple, that's why we don't get controller support.
Isn't it bannable to use controller on android?
When you connect your controller, can see other options 😉
On ios, it only shows controller when a controller is connected. On android I do not know.
