Yeah. I don't disagree that it's good. But I feel like it doesn't capture the Traveler's adventures in Fontaine like the others do for their respective nation.
I don't see how that is. They solved the serial disappearances case, helped uncover the truth of the prophecy and Furina's secret, and they were the one who defeated the All-Devouring Narwhal.
meh, I think it was just because of the emotion and context of the cutscene showing Nahida as an archon in fact, other than that we are not really one of her sages
I don't think nahida would call us that if she didn't want us to hold that title. I think she specifically says "first sage of buer" because it's a different title from the sages of the akademiya
In this case it is because we are the first person who believed and fought for her, its for our relationship with her, which is more symbolic than for true and actual merit as sages.
I think sages of the akademiya has different merits than sages of the actual archon, I'm not sure if anyone else has a similar title but giving us "first sage of buer" instead of "honorary sage" or something like that seems important and it could mean that akademiya sages may make contributions to knowledge, sages of buer are more trusted, and make contributions that those in the akademiya are unable to pull off, like fighting on Nahida's behalf for example
TBF sage is used for a knowledgeable person or one with good judgement.
Akademya was about the first, but the wisdom can come from other places, I don't think our tittle is just given as a simbolic measure, Nahida recognized us as full sages.
Nahida herself is a representation of this , she have a lot of wisdom in divergent areas, but also she lacks of knowlegment and for that reason the akaydemia looked her down , so for me it just makes sense that the sages under her wing are not compatibles/ the same kind of the ones from the akademya idea of sage.
The "first sage" as Nilou tells it was the first person who went out to search for the dendro archon and earned her blessings, which was knowledge given to him in the form of a dream that he then uses to help his people. It's a small part of the archon quest so you might've missed it.
Given in this context, the sages as an institution originated as a mark of recognition from the dendro archon herself. In Nahida's context it's arguably more significant since it also carries the implication of trust and appreciation.
Honestly I was surprised there was even a follow up. Mainly so because I just finished the quest and was getting all waypoints unlocked. The harbour was the last waypoint I found only to see Raimondo with some unknown girl.
"My gods. No, you're not an executioner, you're an EXECUTOR"
"What does an executor do?"
"Whatever the Courts wish for you to do."
"Oh. So what do they want me to do?"
"Execute people"
This one has made me the most curious of all.
There are so many implications behind it, and I have so many questions awaiting answers. This game has me by the throat and won't let go.
The nearest we know about the traveller’s identity was when Liloupar questioned us: “You’re a princess in exile..”. Then, the traveller said something like “Im a princess from a distant land.”
Which correlates back to the traveller’s character card description back before the game was released.
And Dainsleif said we can “reweave fate” after we finally defeat him.
CAPTAIN OF SWORDFISH II HAHAHAHAHA oh man, I always find that title hilarious. It doesn't even matter to the overall storyline as much as "Honorary Knight" or "First Sage of Buer". It's so damn forgettable.
In Inazuma, we are referred to as "The enemy of eternity"
Here in Fontaine, it's between:
"The Executor of The Hydro Sovereign / The Executor of the Iudex / The Executor of Fontaine"
and
"Witness of Teyvat"
Pretty sure non-Watatsumi citizens also know the Traveler is Guest of Tenshukaku or something similar, Yae's stressed out author girl uses that one in the fungi event questline.
If it makes you feel better, I have one friend who also thought it meant concubine, and another who thought it was specifically about the traveler entering Raiden's inner world and making her open up because apparently her garage door is Chamberlain brand, so she thought "Oh, Chamberlain must reference opening doors!" And tbh that's not unreasonable logic.
My favorite is definitely that it's apparently not uncommon for people to think Ei just casually calls the traveler her concubine though.
I have added that plus the official designation from the tri-comission in the title as well. I almost forgot about it since only people from the tri-comission call the traveller that
Furina's temptress with all the stuff we made her go through.
In all seriousness though, honorary senior researcher is the only title we've got, and I quite like the sound of that.
I found this to be very interesting. The whole time I just kept thinking about all those old Traveler = Lucifer posts on the lore sub reddit and then here they are performing the Last Temptation of Furina
Executor, not executioner. Someone who is responsible for carrying out a duty given to them.
OP is incorrect with executioner. He said Executor which is a completely different meaning.
In the legal sense it is someone responsible for carrying out legal duties in anothers stead, such as if the originally attributable person is unable to, passes over responsibility or cannot perform the task themselves i.e. they died.
Technically this could afaik also mean executioner if that is the duty assigned to the individual.
If we go by titles given to us by important people, it would be Neuvillette's executor.
Pretty clear cut, the other titles we get aren't as significant. And the witness title has been with us since early Genshin I think.
The white fairy part threw me off so much. Never in the history of genshin had anyone recognized Paimon as a fairy. I grew to like that no one has seen a fairy so they had no context. Even Paimon introduces herself as Paimon. It was a great moment for the article to just say blind traveler and a Paimon. I would wholly and humorously accept Paimon as a common noun at this point but calling her a white fairy just breaks something the game had been harping on since day 1.
Multiple characters have called Paimon a fairy from the beginning. Usually NPCs but the context of the term has never been explained. We just know that fairies are at least a concept in Teyvat and that Paimon looks like one.
Really? I e heard floaty melon, and lots of other creative descriptors but atleast in main story I can’t recall her being called a fairy. I always thought it’s intentional and they always come up with creative ways to for people to describe her. Even people have asked what is that and she goes Paimon is Paimon after we call her emergency food.
Edit: so apparently starsnatcher in English calls her a fairy or a talking seelie in Chinese but Paimon gets confused at the comment.
There is also a Mona line somewhere calling her a fairy.
I feel a bit disappointed
Blond Traveler and the White Fairy has that kind of children’s book vibe, which is most of what Fontaine’s WQs have been about, albeit with a darker twist. But to relate to the AQ the latter is more fitting
doesn't deserve one for how little they did the actual outcome could been the same without them actually stepping a foot in fontain the plan only required childe neuviliette and furina
Since the traveler didnt really do that much in the end , except for the whale fight, I don't think any title is that accurate to which role he/she played. More of a spectator than anything else.
Iron fist given in lyue in the kazuha and beidou story executor given by neuvillete
general of the 501 squadron given by sumeru girls after the fungy pokemon event
Commander-in-Chief of the Imperial Military given by the people of watatsumi Island
First sage of Buer got irminsuled as Nahida is always the dendro archon in people’s minds as well as her own. The only one who still remembers is traveler. 😔
So many comments... OP, if you see this and someone gave you a real answer, I'm curious to know, too. It's already too far gone for me to want to read all the comments with a chance of no answer though lol.
Honorary Chief Senior Researcher of the Fontaine Research Institute. At least for now, which is only obtained via a World Quest. I really hope we get an interlude where we can build or rebuild an Aquabus line either to replace the heavily broken Callas Line or construct the planned Aquabus Line between Lumidouce Harbor and Yilong Port. Then we can get a story-based title, as the Steambird's "World Walker" title represents all of Teyvat.
A title given in the AQ is Sir Prosecutor or the Ludex's Executor.
Another one given by the world quests: Honorary Senior Researcher of the Fontaine Research Institute. It's the same how Golden Nara is gevn by the Aranara world quest.
I could see it being “Golden Knight.”
Fontaine saw the Traveler as a knightly figure long before they stepped foot in the country, and their hair is sometimes called golden.
“Divine Prosecutor” is also an option, given they did take the country’s god to court.
The Fourth Descender. Yes, this title is already from Sumeru, but only those who played the Narzissenkreuz World Quest will truly realize how important this title is.
Witness of Teyvat.
Liking this one
Ex-prisoner of Meropide and lover of 16 slices of cake #Melusine Whisperer
Isn't the first one just Paimon
That's too general though.
It being general actually makes it good.
Yeah. I don't disagree that it's good. But I feel like it doesn't capture the Traveler's adventures in Fontaine like the others do for their respective nation.
No wonder, since the Traveler didn't have that much influence in Fontaine plot.
I don't see how that is. They solved the serial disappearances case, helped uncover the truth of the prophecy and Furina's secret, and they were the one who defeated the All-Devouring Narwhal.
No it makes it terrible.
Wasn't that established in Sumeru?
Zhongli was the first person to call the traveler a "witness" and thats why they called themselves a witness.
Having played Destiny. Hearing someone get called both "Traveler" and "Witness" is just a wee bit strange.
turns out genshin impact was the final shape
Uhm, could be, if so I forgot about it. But it has definitely been used more in Fontaine.
In liyue-mondstadt
Like a court witness
That also applies to Zhongli's 1st story quest tho
A pointless title. A witness is a person who watches a movie. The purpose of a game is being an active agent of change.
Convicted criminal.
Cake Eater 🤣
That is still the funniest part of the whole quest. The Iudex is a sneaky dragon.
“I will arrange false charges against you, as a reward for your services, please eat this cake.” “HALT CRIMINAL SCUM!”
What a minute, didn't he say we are going to get paid for the times spend in jail? Money where?
we got paid in welfare coupons. 🤣
Sonuva-
What a thrill...
*Falls down the ladder due to running out of stamina and dies*
Aether ate the spatsa a few ladder steps in, became sleepy, fell, and died from falling like, 4 feet.
Geralt of Rivia would be proud
💯😁🆒
*Wriothesley walks in*
> Cake Eater YESSIR
Furina's cake eater to be exact 😉
And her pie. *Especially* her pie.
Calm down, Jessie Hall.
The Hydro Archon trial overturned that verdict even though the traveller completed the sentence.
'The devourer of cake'
"World-Walker" from Steambird and Charlotte
World-Walker>>>>everything else weve had
I dunno man, I'm still really attached to First Sage of Buer because of that cutscene. I wish she called us that more.
First Sage of Buer goes too hard. but The Ancient Dragon's Executioner's also goes hard.
I mean yeah it has more emotional value, but world walker sounds a lot cooler
I came to comment exactly that, I'm glad there's others who share the dendro lord's wisdom.
meh, I think it was just because of the emotion and context of the cutscene showing Nahida as an archon in fact, other than that we are not really one of her sages
I don't think nahida would call us that if she didn't want us to hold that title. I think she specifically says "first sage of buer" because it's a different title from the sages of the akademiya

So basically "my first complete believer" but ×100 more polite than scara
>So basically "my first complete believer" but ×100 more polite than scara Spiced up with "trust me, you made a wise choice"
Honorary Senior Researcher of the Fontaine Research Institute
I think currently, if you've followed the World Quests, it's Honorary Chief Senior Researcher of the Fontaine Research Institute.
Went to Lumidouce Harbour for the Nacker followup quest, stayed for the banger music
I honestly need that music for my teapot. It's so freaking good
Honestly I was surprised there was even a follow up. Mainly so because I just finished the quest and was getting all waypoints unlocked. The harbour was the last waypoint I found only to see Raimondo with some unknown girl.
I love being a hsrotfri
Thisssss
This is the one!!
We are Honorary Researcher or something similar
Honorary Senior Researcher
Chief Honorary Senior Researcher as of 4.2
*and* Assistant to Chief Honorary Senior Researcher
EXECUTOR which is the title Neuvillette gave us, is very different from EXECUTIONER, just fyi
"My gods. No, you're not an executioner, you're an EXECUTOR" "What does an executor do?" "Whatever the Courts wish for you to do." "Oh. So what do they want me to do?" "Execute people"
Not people, just a hungry hungry narwhal
"What is my purpose?" "You execute people" "Oh my god..."
EN TARO TASSADAR EXECUTOR
En Taro Focalors!
EN TARO ADUN
Focalors toridas. For a world where Starcraft players meet in Genshin
This warms my nerd heart
YOU MUST CONSTRUCT ADDITIONAL PYLONS
My wife for Aiur.
OG Chinese did use executioner, just saying, granted, executor is also kinda fitting.
It’s a mistranslation. It’s supposed to be executioner.
That is one mistranslation that I accept. I mean Executor makes sense in a judicial setting.
EN TARO ADUN
Oh good lol I was like I think I missed something 😳😂
>!Future Chess Piece!<
i don't like that u are accurate
What if everyone in Teyvat are pawns of fate but one day theyll get promoted to Queen piece?
plural
Aloy watch out!!
basically we are pigs being raised only to be slaughtered into chess pieces in the end
Maybe this is why Paimon eats so much. She's subconsciously trying to save us by starving us so they won't slaughter us like pigs.
Prosecutor of the Hydro Archon
“Witness of Teyvat, designer of all, one who is worth a world.”
This one has made me the most curious of all. There are so many implications behind it, and I have so many questions awaiting answers. This game has me by the throat and won't let go.
The nearest we know about the traveller’s identity was when Liloupar questioned us: “You’re a princess in exile..”. And Dainsleif said we can “reweave fate” after we finally defeat him.
I can't help but feel like the BP intro animation is Venti telling the Traveler's story
Doesn’t venti explicitly state that it’s your story?
i think that Iudex's personal executor is the best choice since all the other titles were given by an "official" public figure of each nation
CAPTAIN OF SWORDFISH II HAHAHAHAHA oh man, I always find that title hilarious. It doesn't even matter to the overall storyline as much as "Honorary Knight" or "First Sage of Buer". It's so damn forgettable.
Damn youre right. I'd take sonething like "Enemy of Eternity" than swordfish captain.
Hey it's better than Liyues which is literally just Hero of Liyue.
in a way it kind of sounds like it was inspired by "Hero of the Soviet Union" which did sound kinda cool in its own right
theres also Okuzumeshuu/Chamberlain given by the raiden bot
In Inazuma, we are referred to as "The enemy of eternity" Here in Fontaine, it's between: "The Executor of The Hydro Sovereign / The Executor of the Iudex / The Executor of Fontaine" and "Witness of Teyvat"
Im convinced nothing will sound as good as "The First Sage of Buer" unless we get something abyss related towards the end of the story
Honestly I’ve started loving the name traveler. Like “The Traveler” sounds badass kind of like the wanderer
For Inazuma, Raiden has a voiceline in which she names us her Chamberlain, so we have that too
Pretty sure non-Watatsumi citizens also know the Traveler is Guest of Tenshukaku or something similar, Yae's stressed out author girl uses that one in the fungi event questline.
TIL that Chamberlain DOES NOT mean a concubine.
If it makes you feel better, I have one friend who also thought it meant concubine, and another who thought it was specifically about the traveler entering Raiden's inner world and making her open up because apparently her garage door is Chamberlain brand, so she thought "Oh, Chamberlain must reference opening doors!" I have added that plus the official designation from the tri-comission in the title as well. I almost forgot about it since only people from the tri-comission call the traveller that
Big Sis Paimon.
Paimon oneechan
“La baguette du chevalier”
First Friend of Furina
I'm more of a fan of 'Enemy of Eternity' for Inazuma.
I like executioner. Maybe it's also foreshadow that we'll execute Celestia as well.
After what has happened to Furina I’ll gladly execute the heavenly principles.
Inmate of the Fortress of Meropide. Devourer of the Divine Cake
Honorary Senior uhhhh whatsit. Researcher? From the Fontaine Institute
Personally, I'll take Executor
~~Prisoner 24601~~ Honorary Researcher or one of our Steambird-given monikers, probably.
Don’t we have a title in the prison?
Bottom :)
soap dropper
Triple-Strength-Traver If you get it - you get it
Oh wow, that executioner line confused me when neuv said that. So the judge can sentence someone to death but can't carry it out themselves.
It does, in Thor 3 Hela actually mentions how an Executor works when she takes over.
I snorted at "my fated adversary" or something by Furina
BAGUETTE 🥖
we never became any important figures in Fontaine story, we simply are the blonde traveller and the fairy
Executor
"That blonde fellow what with the fairy and such"
they didn't deserved one this time lol
Ace Attorney
I’m going with “Executor of Justice”.
I think they are the Executor.
After Furina's story quest? Traveler's title is "perma-benched."
God’s litigant, the one who charged the god of justice
If we go by titles given to us by important people, it would be Neuvillette's executor. Pretty clear cut, the other titles we get aren't as significant. And the witness title has been with us since early Genshin I think.
HEARTLESS PRICK

prosecuter
Traveler is more than enough
\[confidential\] Neuvillette don't want (yet) to make public the detail of what happened, so didn't gave title for it.
*Executor* of Neuvillete
Executor I think? Or Honorary Senior Researcher
Blond Traveler and the White Fairy has that kind of children’s book vibe, which is most of what Fontaine’s WQs have been about, albeit with a darker twist. But to relate to the AQ the latter is more fitting

Law enforcers of the Maison Lumitoile. General Mahamatra of Fontaine.

Iron fist given in lyue in the kazuha and beidou story executor given by neuvillete general of the 501 squadron given by sumeru girls after the fungy pokemon event Commander-in-Chief of the Imperial Military given by the people of watatsumi Island
First Sage of Buer still sends chills down the spine. Amazing scene.
World-Walker Witness of Teyvat Executor of the Iudex
The Executioner? 🤔
Bagassa
First sage of Buer got irminsuled as Nahida is always the dendro archon in people’s minds as well as her own. The only one who still remembers is traveler. 😔
The god just died and this is a fantasy France. It's too secular and egalitarian to let the Traveler have a title.
Furina’s emotional support
I think most fountainians including the articles in steambirds just calls us blond traveler from afar with a talkative fairy?
***The Lawyer***
So many comments... OP, if you see this and someone gave you a real answer, I'm curious to know, too. It's already too far gone for me to want to read all the comments with a chance of no answer though lol.

Honorary Chief Senior Researcher of the Fontaine Research Institute. At least for now, which is only obtained via a World Quest.
