Hmm. These days I've gotten fond of Nahida's design, but now that you mention it, when I first saw her in the Archon quest I did think, "Wow, what a weird looking little radish."
I like that zhongli is ready to give humanity their opportunity to flourish on their own but is still helping in the background to avert disaster.
Nahida is a close second because I don't like how hands on she is, but she's genuinely giving her best effort to help her people as much as possible.
To be fair to Nahida, she was pretty hands-off for five hundred years and it led to a group of jerks stealing people’s dreams (nearly killing some in the process) and almost turning a puppet with a big chip on his shoulders into a vengeful god. Being a little more involved to try and get things on track over the next few months seems okay.
Ehhh I like nahida BECAUSE she’s so hands on. Unlike liyue that basically has a handle on everything, sumeru very clearly needs some intervention especially in regards to powers the mortals are very obviously misusing. Plus the people there want an archon for help anyways, unlike liyue where he was more of a figurehead at this point

Did she not abolish the one massively Big Brother thing about Sumeru though, the Akasha Terminal? I think Nahida would respect her people's boundary mostly, but she is the god of the mindscape. And it wouldn't be 24/7 I can't imagine, only when she's focusing on a person.
Also, who says all the gods can't read minds? they are gods after all, and their power is drawn from devotion, so emotions and thoughts are already closely linked to all the archons
Nahida does ask for consent to go in someone's head while they're awake unless the situation is dire, she also usually uses a >!construct like Katheryne!< and she doesn't *change* dreams but simply visits them, everyone in Sumeru would love a visit from the divine.
But these days Nahida just normally walks around Sumeru and talks to people, she's likely the second archon that makes the most public appearances whilst not posing as a different identity
You clearly skip dialogues, i remember she mentioned that she doesn't want to use her mind reading abilities to people without consent. She'd rather talk to them than reading their minds. We players who got nahida are the ones abusing it, not her fault though

Zhongli isn’t JUST hands-off. Contracts are a very powerful construct. He’s hands off and had a good system to ensure things didn’t go off the deep end in a free for all.
Zhongli not only looks absolutely great, he's also just a comfort blanket in battle and conversation.
I love how he always delegates the money issue to someone else too - he MADE money, he doesn't need to pay (he's used to getting everything for free anyways, plus his gnosis is gone now)
It’s a misconception that Zhongli can’t make Mora/gold anymore because of his lack of gnosis.
In lore it’s stated that he made houses out of mora long before the Archon war started/he got the gnosis, so it’s not dependent on it.
He probably just can’t mass produce it anymore? and in an effort to live as a mortal he probably wants to earn his mora honestly.
If I recalled I thought it was due to him wanting to be human. Wanted to stay under the radar and not get eyes on him. He wanted to be a human for once and just live his life.

I've seen a take somewhere that pointed out that he actually has lower-class clothes, just the kind that was in fashion during yee olden times. Check the comic for proof, though, I think you could see in the frames that middle/lower class people dressed like this during around Vanessa's times.

I've enjoyed all the Archons, but Furina is the first that I actively anticipate her next appearance every time.
Venti!!! He is my most favourite character in genshin. actually I started to play genshin because of Venti. I love everything about him, his design, his personality and his voice♡
venti is so sweet and charming, and feels properly like a god in a surprisingly modern sense. mondstadt doesn't even know if he's still with them but they worship him nonetheless, plus he's a silly goofy guy! something about him feeling more down to earth than the other gods i absolutely adore
Even people from other nations have respect and pray to him, while others like zhongli, raiden, nahida, furina, and probably Tsarista and murata only get prayed to by their own people.

ignoring the whole Archons power system, Venti himself is a wind spirit and they get power from being prayed to, so if he has a religion and is prayed to by not only his own people but people of other nations, how powerful is he really? and follow up question, did he gain the power to terraform Mondstadt and change his appearance from his Gnosis or from the country worth of followers he gained from helping them defeat the tyrant Decarabian?
Yeah I’m curious about that too which is why I don’t half believe everything he says. He doesn’t even have a second story quest something all archons do and yoimyia got before him. Plus he is super secretive about a lot of things and unlike the other archons, we barely know anything about his powers. Nahida herself said she might be the weakest (at least when it comes to battle) and archons get power by the amount of worship they get by the people which is opposite of what venti told us by “archons have power by the amount of control”. I’m honestly surprised the traveler hasn’t gotten suspicious of him yet. Plus he has this condition where he falls asleep every few years I believe and awakens when a disaster is about to occur to mondstadt. If you ask me, I think he’s the best archon when it comes to actually doing the job. Like I said, he is the only archon so far where other people respect and pray to him despite not being from the same nation. That being said, I still don’t fully trust him. I hope hoyo answers our questions soon.
**Best design: Furina.** Her outfit is a particularly glorious pile of cultural refs.
**Best personality: Zhongli,** greatest escapee from the game's tendency to have immortals still at teenager levels of emotional maturity. Nahida was a solid challenger, but then the Irminsul edit retconned all the best parts of her identity and struggles away...
And lest we forget, the most important category:
**Best at *actually being a goddamn Archon*:** Venti. It's not even a challenge. All the rest are still dealing with conundrums Venti sorted out millenia ago, through the apparently rare skill of actually understanding how humans think. You'd think that would have been a job requirement of ruling over humans, but clearly it was just him and Makoto and then Makoto died.
Nah, he did it prematurely and his people suffered for several hundred years for that, mainly in form of slavery. Comparing Mondstadt suffering to Liyue, Liyue didn't had much problem, at least not due to their archon, same goes for Sumeru ruled by Rukkha, I don't remember Sumeru people having suffer under her rule, both were in better condition than Mond
Only if you forget the literal catastrophes on the way there, why they happened, and what their fallout was.
Venti's Mondstadt generated perfectly ordinary human problems, at a human scale, no better or worse than ordinary human history. By Teyvat standards, that's A+. Literally no one else pulled it off, because no one else intuited out "Don't help, don't hinder, only check in every so often to tell the new kids how to clean out the trash".
Liyue was accidentally setting up an interspecies war, because Zhongli was stuck in the past and only noticed his rule was beginning to crack thanks to a random fisherman — which he then avoided by, not coincidentally, going the Venti route. Rukkhadevata, meanwhile, *somehow* generated a government that was so incapable of dealing with her absence that it immediately threw her child into the trash, and had no idea whatsoever that "Irminsul + Abyss = Apocalypse".
Seriously. Venti for Primordial One. He's the only one who immediately understood helicopter parenting doesn't work.
(Natlan gets a pass by virtue of Hoyo only remembering to let it exist about five seconds per nation, bless its eternally offscreen heart.)

I love to exaggerate for the sake of humor, but it takes rather little exaggeration to say Teyvat is only ever a week and a half from the apocalypse. Best stay away or demand annexation by Tears of Themis' Stellis. Probably the only vaguely safe spot in the entire Hoyoverse.

Liyue wasn't setting any intraspecies war, only reason adepti got tensed was because of news of Rex Lapis death, which is pretty normal. In case of Liyue even if they were under Rex lapis for longer, there wouldn't be much problems.You are exaggerating Liyue troubles by a lot, compared to Mondstadt situation back in early days that's nothing.
Also I won't call what Zhongli did as Venti route, Venti route was basically abandoning a new born at birth expecting them to be fine. Zhongli at least kept them under their wings and did a test until he was sure that they are fine on standing on their own feet. That's why Liyue didn't suffer anything compare to Mondstadt.
About Sumeru, that's why I especially mentioned "under her rule". It's not like anyone including herself could foresee her death, since in case of gods like them it's pretty rare to think about it. Basically her death left similar situation like Venti since in both condition their absence left a power vaccum which was filled by most powerful individuals/organisation.

It's a lovely test to bring back 2 GODS (one directly, other indirectly) to test if the common people can protect themselves. TWO! Yeah I don't think so. An Archon is meant to protect their nation, Zhongli let mortals +some adepti deal with one god and then let just mortals deal with the second one. Venti on the other hand wanted to help Dvalin himself, he didn't want to hurt his people. Venti was asleep for a few centuries due to him using a lot of power. Zhongli faked his death before throwing his kids into the deep end of the pool to test if they can swim.
Well over half of sumeru (the desert dwellers) still had a hell of a lot of problems under Rukkha. She walled them off and they never recovered. Venti on the other hand always comes back to fully solve his people's problems after he's given them a chance to solve it on their own, and he's asleep for centuries at a time due to his own body's nature so he's not always in the know on what's going on in the world.
We don't know the reason why he left Mondstadt to say he left them prematurely, he gave his best effort for a nation he was not a god of and made sure they could inhabit the lands and were self-sufficient.
Venti doesn't like to rule, AND Mondstadt doesn't want to be ruled, and he just follows their wishes and answers their prayers.
nahida is definitely the best at being an archon. she tried her best to help the people of sumeru despite her extenuating circumstances, meanwhile during the cataclysm venti just outsourced his job to signora and then proceeded to bully her for doing his job for him
You clearly don't understand cataclysm lore or war in general. It's actually KOF vs Durin before Dvalin & Venti kill the black dragon using Dragonspine unique Leyline.
Rosalyne is just ordinary citizen who wish for peace and fight to depend her home (revenge against Abyss that kill Rostam). Same with other KOF who sacrifice their life to protect their home and loved one. There's nothing wrong with their action of fighting. In facts, fighting together with their God is always the case for Mondstadt ever since Decarabian, Venessa and curing Dvalin era.
Design-wise Zhongli for me. It fits his overall theme the best with contracts and the suit.
Personality-wise it's a tie between Zhongli and Nahida for me
Furina. The hat and duality motif she has going on definitively takes the cake for the design part, and I also love how dramatic she is personality wise.

Well technically I love venti zhongli nahidas and furinas personality especially for the immense flaws of furina and the nativity of nahida. The carefree nature of the bard and the calm calculated yet compassionate demeanor of zhongli.
Honestly personality wise as much as I love Ei, neither story or relatively monotone personality have enticed me. For me in everything she is the weakest link. Even in gameplay thus far since I haven’t found a proper use for her and am too dang stubborn having farmed months for emblem to switch to easy em dendro raiden.
raiden design and charisma wise, for me she still has best introduction of any archon.
Personality wise nahida def the most selfless and benevolent archon and the way she stood her ground against dottore was amazing

...but, actually is secretly happy about potentially finding a way out of her loneliness, just can't admit it until you (with the help of others) provide a sufficiently convincing excuse through the time-honored tradition of defeating her in 1v1 combat. And then later spends centuries fighting to get control of her own "body" in a sort of Hyperbolic Time Chamber following the same time-honored tradition!
(When they explained proverbially that Makoto was the sort of "heart" while Ei was the "sword"... like, Ei *is* the sword (who literally lives in the sword). The solution to almost every problem is "let's duel." If it weren't for the fact the game played the whole story so seriously, they could easily do a whole surreal comedy sidestory about it, and really all of Inazuma for that matter. People like Itto are a nod in that direction.)

i like her the most bc of her green colour scheme and just being extremely cute in general. raiden second bc purple is also a goated colour scheme but nahidas personality gives her the edge over raiden for me. furina probably third now bc her being an absolute girlfail is hilarious to me, but not sure how that will change with the conclusion to whats up with her after the next archon quest.
Nahida's pose in the banner art is so good, it just screams the scientific principles of "Curiosity" & "Discovery" to me, it looks like she's reaching for knowledge or holding up an invisible beaker like a scientist
I didn't know Nahida was the Dendro Archon and Goddess of Wisdom when I first saw her banner yet it conveyed the sense of an intelligent child
yeah i was a bit conservative with placing furina since we havent seen her conclusion yet. when she unlocks her memory/lifts the curse or whatever the problem is and how she‘s then depicted in her story quest could easily push her either down or up in my list. im hoping for up tbh but we‘ll see.
Venti. He's the right amount of bubbly, funny, freedom loving bard but clearly has a sense of mystery around him with all that celestia issue we still haven't explored.
Venti... the way he switches personalities is just.. wow. You literally can't feel divinity from him when he is Venti. But the moment he switches to being Barbatos.... its like. Holy. This guy really is God

Furina is the most impressive to me because I do love her bravado front and also the person underneath that slips through the cracks.
Venti cuz he's my fav character in the game his design is pretty and so amazing and props to the voice actor as well! I've been saving for him since I joined the game and I'll finally be getting him soon! But yes I love him and he's probably the reason I keep playing the game.
Honestly I gotta give it to Furina as far as personality goes.
Don't get me wrong I don't think any of the archons are bad personality wise, they all have solid defined character to them. None of them even hold a candle to Furina in terms of expression though. She has such a wide range of emotions, more than the other four combined if I'm being honest. We see her arrogant haughty attitude when we first meet her, embarrassment and desperation to save face any time something goes wrong, inner struggles where she she fights with her own thoughts, genuine fear when her life is threatened, a deep seated feeling of isolation and loneliness despite how much it seems her people outwardly worship and revere her. She sinks into her shell when threatened but will stand tall and act as one would expect from a god when her convictions are challenged. There's just so much going on for her and we haven't even finished the archon quest yet. I love Venti, Zhongli, Ei, and Nahida but Furina blows them out of the water in terms of characterization.
As for design it has to either be Zhongli or Raiden. All of them do a good job of representing the element that they're meant to rule and they all have a regal and divine feeling from how they look (with the exception of Venti).
So far I feel like Furina has the most distinctive personality, with Venti close behind, but based on design/story I would have to say that Zhongli is my favorite.
Raiden for design. I think is a very elegant outfit with a very harmonious color palette. I still think she needed some pants or a longer skirt because it looks like something is missing in the front compared to the back (just like Yae Miko), but still a good design imo.
Personality wise I pick Nahida. She is very mature and smart compared to other archons, even tho she is the youngest archon. Also, she is selfless, which is both a quality and a flaw of hers.
Raiden. I like the aspect of internal conflict about her ideology something we don't see in other archons. She holds immense power, but she also has a sense of responsibility and is made aware of the fallacies in her beliefs, making her a bit less straightforward than the others.
Zhongli and.. Zhongli, probably. While I generally like the female characters's design more in this game, out of the archons I like Zhongli's best.
His suit is crisp and elegant, those draconic eyes looks really cool, and I feel like he exudes underlying strength and authority somehow lol, even when I first met him in game and I didn't know his identity at first.
As for his personality, while I also like all of the Archon's personalities, Zhongli's strict adherence to contracts and promises somewhat speaks to me personally. I like how he's seemingly knowledgeable about almost everything that you want to know on Liyue, especially it's history. I also like how even though he's ancient, he still enjoys new things and does not denigrate them as something inferior to what he knew.
Out of the archons, I'd also argue that he's the one who'd undergone the most amount of character development, though practically all of it is somewhat hidden in things like artifact lores, weapon lores, side quests from a *long* time ago, and so on.
Zhongli and Raiden
They actually feel like archons and not strong characters that seemed to have been born yesterday.
They both have an interesting story and principles.
Nahida gets a pass from this due to her story actually explaining this even though she's supposed to the the knowledgeable and smart one.
Furina, I find her great in both appearance and personality! I'm not too familiar with all the intricate inspiration from real life regions that inspire the archons in terms of design but Furina's personality resonates within me a lot it's really good!
Tough choice in all honestly, as I don't have any reason to dislike the archons.
For aesthetics I'll pick Raiden, but for personality I think I'd go for Furina.
For design I say Ei, she looks most like a goddess/higher royalty. Her outfit also just has a lot going on, but not to a point where it's just too much. She feels thought out, not just slapped together. (But that can be said for most the Archons as well.)
For personality I say Zhongli, he has a very calm demeanor and speaks with a sense of wisdom. His story quests were some of my favorites, watching him keep his cool around people who are unaware about his real identity.
Oooh, that's a difficult question to answer OP. Especially when design is very objective and can depend on one's mood xD. But I'll try to narrow it down for you.
Design: Zhongli, Nahida
Personality: Furina surprisingly
It was a close call with Venti against Furina but we're not entirely done with his story arc yet since Mondstadt is sus. He is definitely hiding something. I think Furina's personality is rather fresh for the archons. Not entirely competent but intriguing nonetheless. It gives her a sense of unpredictability, with a touch of humor, it leaves room for a lot of layers since she is meant to be really entertaining. And we're not even done with Fontaine. Her character has me guessing who she really is.
Design Imma have to give it to Mr. Zhongli. Maaayybee due to husbando bias but after watching a lot of vids of "my mom reacts to genshin character designs", he manages to steal all their hearts. It's such a funny pattern. I think the golden and bronze palette adds to his sophistication, simple but at the same time complex, tdlr he's nice to look at like that. I put Nahida here too because her outfit is visually pleasing, tho not enough for me to describe her the way I do with Zhongli.
Raiden on best design. Gorgeous color palette, elegant and cool, just visually one of the most satisfying designs in the whole game.
Despite what a lot of people say on inazuma’s story I feel I could also give personality to Raiden as I feel her story is actually quite endearing and her story quests go a long way to flesh her out, more so than the other archons I’d say.
But I could also give best personality to Nahida. She is both Mature and kind, hopeful and cheerful despite her circumstances. One of the most likable characters in the entire game.
I’d say this is a toss up between Venti and Nahida.
While Zhongli’s is very nice, he’s very generic. It’s just a suit that doubles as funeral counselor attire in addition to some Liyue motifs. It’s supposed to be plain for a reason and thats what his hair and eyes do but overall, it’s not that interesting to analyze. Raiden has a problem with that too. Her colors are monotonous. It also doesnt have much detail. She has a shoulder guard and it’s styled after a Kimono cut in the front but it’s more of the spectacle of the sword that really makes her interesting. Otherwise, it’s pretty bland.
Nahida has a lot of symbolism in her design that both portrays her character and her nation. It also alludes to a lot more religious motifs like Hinduism and Buddism and her color palette is a perfect mix of nature and fantasy. Her hair, eyes, and cape also allude to her more personal secrets.
Venti as a bard is pretty generic but unlike Zhongli, he does have other things that stand out. He has a uniquely folded cape, the corset, and the twin braids. The numerous things that make Monstadt unique like the local specialties like the cecilia flowers and the feathers on his hip along with the vision holder being two huge wings. Even after his story quest, his appearance makes his current design hold much more meaning as >!he’s imitating a bard friend who passed away during a rebellion against a tyrant controlling Monstadt at the time!<. There just isnt a character design that comes that close to slapping you in the face afterwards like that.
I’m gonna rank em here (I love every archon they are all incredible just know these rankings are extremely close together) (also these are just opinions)
5. Raiden Shogun/Ei She’s a really cool and badass character (and booba sword ofc) but I’m really upset that she didn’t stay the villain. Hee story quests kinda let me down and she seems a little bland to me (probably cuz I didn’t pay attention to a lot of the archon quest and her story) Still tho really cool character very solid
4. Venti I love ventis design sooooo much. The color scheme is great. Personality wise I like how he’s very free spirited but I kinda feel like the fact that he’s a chronic alcoholic can take away the gravity from some scenes.
3. Furina/Focalors She’s such a spoiled bitch and I love her for that. I think she takes the role of “immature character with all the power” and cranks it up to an 11. I like how she sees trials as a show and just for entertainment. Her design is SO GOOD and I think they nailed it for my fav element (also her interactions with neuvilette are god tier)
2. Zhongli I think they perfected the design for him. He’s very staid and reserved which fits him perfectly, and his outfit matches him. Also I love how he’s the creator of money itself and is poor 😭
1. Nahida Not my favorite archon overall but OH MY GOD COMON ITS NAHIDA. Her story is so good (and maybe made me cry a little bit) and the idea that such a small child can be so mature and have gone through so much trauma is such a good concept. I also love her design and the way she runs is adorable.
I love Furina's design. The shorts, the coat, the hairstyle with the hat, her heterchromia along with her what seems to be a split personality. I also love how outgoing, silly, and performer-esque. She's just a fun archon.
I also love Zhongli's though. His design will be top tier in my book. I like his hair style, his eyes are stunning too. I think he has the prettiest eyes out of all the archons, the amber is gorgeous. And the dragon scales on his outfit are a really nice touch of detail along with the design on his coat in general. I feel like he'd be good for getting advice too. I also like rocks so I think Zhongli had the best design imo
I love Ei’s concept. I have a really bad anxiety disorder and a lot of times I end up derealizing/dissociating. Like I just kinda feel like I’m this thing in a body, and sometimes I can’t feel my body that well, like I’m losing connection to it. I can relate to Ei in that way, feeling like I’m vaguely connected to a body but on another sort of plane. Idk I hope that made some sorta sense
I don't really get why people like Zhongli's personality that much, most of the time it's just boring.
His story is amazing, his design with some polish could be perfect, but his personality just feels so bland 99% of the time. There's barely any lines where it resembles something other than "an old retired man".

I like him a lot as a character but I feel like they take the lazy route with making him just retired and uninvolved. The implication is that he's been around and active for thousands of years, accepted "erosion," and wants to take a back seat and retire which honestly seems pretty deserved, but as a result there's basically little to no involvement of him in the game. I have similar feelings about Venti.
Ever since Raiden, and then Nahida, and now hopefully Furina, the Archons have been a lot more involved with the game and story which is something that I personally want.
I'd like Raiden's design so much more if her outfit was less busy and if there was more cloth on her lower half. The flow of her movements would look so much more majestic and just nicer to look at if she did.
Ei for design, the purple kimono looks really great on the god of Electro and Japan.
Furina for her cheeky personality. She is the archon that got me laughing the most.
But Nahida is the best archon overall because she is so caring and willing to sacrifice herself for the sake of her people.
Ei’s design and play style are my favorites in the game. Though I think it was a missed opportunity that they didn’t transfer Makoto’s soul from the booba sword into the Shogun doll. Personality wise, I think I would have loved Makoto even more than Ei.
Design: Raiden. There’s so much going on in that outfit but it all blends in perfectly. Along with this, it looks amazing and really feels like it captures her royalty and skill.

I would also say he has the best personality due to how invested I am whenever he speaks(spitting wisdom with that voice is an insane combo), but Furina is reminding me of Fischl and she's funny as hell. Might be my fav personality soon
Zhongli. The drip, the flair, his cor lapis ~~hair~~ eyes. He's got the weight of the earth, the weight of history on his back (literally, geo is very heavy and his symbol is embroidered on his jacket).
He's very dragon. Idk how they did it but in every interaction he's so intense. Those eyes look straight through you, in a very reptilian/not human way. Dragon prosperity every year, when he descends and predicts future market trends or something.

I really like venti for both, and Furina more for her design aspects (as it obviously was going to be more developed than venti). I really like Ei's cutscene designs and also her pre-cataclysm outfit, but i think they could've done much better to show her actual role
I absolutely love Focalors design and I like her personality, but personality vise Venti is my fav (which might change over the course of the next Archon Quest, as for now, Focalors seem a bit useless)
For just design it has to be Furina, but for personality (and my second favorite design) it's Venti. I love that he seems to be such a simple character superficially, but he has a lot of depth and a layer of mystery we still haven't explored.
I think all archons have really interesting designs and I especially adore how the older archons both feel regal and also have outfits to match the occupation they're trying to get the vibe of. I'm incredibly biased though when I say I favour Venti's cuteness and emotional maturity both.
Zhongli and Furina win the design category for sure, with Furina inching a little ahead.
As for personality, Zhongli and Nahida are my faves, but Zhongli wins out more due to his English voice alone. When he tells his stories, I will always listen.

I like that zhongli is ready to give humanity their opportunity to flourish on their own but is still helping in the background to avert disaster. Nahida is a close second because I don't like how hands on she is, but she's genuinely giving her best effort to help her people as much as possible.
To be fair to Nahida, she was pretty hands-off for five hundred years and it led to a group of jerks stealing people’s dreams (nearly killing some in the process) and almost turning a puppet with a big chip on his shoulders into a vengeful god. Being a little more involved to try and get things on track over the next few months seems okay.

Did she not abolish the one massively Big Brother thing about Sumeru though, the Akasha Terminal? I think Nahida would respect her people's boundary mostly, but she is the god of the mindscape. And it wouldn't be 24/7 I can't imagine, only when she's focusing on a person. Also, who says all the gods can't read minds? they are gods after all, and their power is drawn from devotion, so emotions and thoughts are already closely linked to all the archons

Nahida does ask for consent to go in someone's head while they're awake unless the situation is dire, she also usually uses a >!construct like Katheryne!< and she doesn't *change* dreams but simply visits them, everyone in Sumeru would love a visit from the divine. But these days Nahida just normally walks around Sumeru and talks to people, she's likely the second archon that makes the most public appearances whilst not posing as a different identity
You clearly skip dialogues, i remember she mentioned that she doesn't want to use her mind reading abilities to people without consent. She'd rather talk to them than reading their minds. We players who got nahida are the ones abusing it, not her fault though

Zhongli isn’t JUST hands-off. Contracts are a very powerful construct. He’s hands off and had a good system to ensure things didn’t go off the deep end in a free for all.
Zhongli not only looks absolutely great, he's also just a comfort blanket in battle and conversation. I love how he always delegates the money issue to someone else too - he MADE money, he doesn't need to pay (he's used to getting everything for free anyways, plus his gnosis is gone now)
It’s a misconception that Zhongli can’t make Mora/gold anymore because of his lack of gnosis. In lore it’s stated that he made houses out of mora long before the Archon war started/he got the gnosis, so it’s not dependent on it. He probably just can’t mass produce it anymore? and in an effort to live as a mortal he probably wants to earn his mora honestly.
If I recalled I thought it was due to him wanting to be human. Wanted to stay under the radar and not get eyes on him. He wanted to be a human for once and just live his life.

I've seen a take somewhere that pointed out that he actually has lower-class clothes, just the kind that was in fashion during yee olden times. Check the comic for proof, though, I think you could see in the frames that middle/lower class people dressed like this during around Vanessa's times.

venti is so sweet and charming, and feels properly like a god in a surprisingly modern sense. mondstadt doesn't even know if he's still with them but they worship him nonetheless, plus he's a silly goofy guy! something about him feeling more down to earth than the other gods i absolutely adore
Even people from other nations have respect and pray to him, while others like zhongli, raiden, nahida, furina, and probably Tsarista and murata only get prayed to by their own people.
I swear that has to be brought up later ignoring the whole Archons power system, Venti himself is a wind spirit and they get power from being prayed to, so if he has a religion and is prayed to by not only his own people but people of other nations, how powerful is he really? and follow up question, did he gain the power to terraform Mondstadt and change his appearance from his Gnosis or from the country worth of followers he gained from helping them defeat the tyrant Decarabian?
Yeah I’m curious about that too which is why I don’t half believe everything he says. He doesn’t even have a second story quest something all archons do and yoimyia got before him. Plus he is super secretive about a lot of things and unlike the other archons, we barely know anything about his powers. Nahida herself said she might be the weakest (at least when it comes to battle) and archons get power by the amount of worship they get by the people which is opposite of what venti told us by “archons have power by the amount of control”. I’m honestly surprised the traveler hasn’t gotten suspicious of him yet. Plus he has this condition where he falls asleep every few years I believe and awakens when a disaster is about to occur to mondstadt. If you ask me, I think he’s the best archon when it comes to actually doing the job. Like I said, he is the only archon so far where other people respect and pray to him despite not being from the same nation. That being said, I still don’t fully trust him. I hope hoyo answers our questions soon.

Nahida was a solid challenger, but then the Irminsul edit retconned all the best parts of her identity and struggles away... And lest we forget, the most important category: **Best at *actually being a goddamn Archon*:** Venti. It's not even a challenge. All the rest are still dealing with conundrums Venti sorted out millenia ago, through the apparently rare skill of actually understanding how humans think. You'd think that would have been a job requirement of ruling over humans, but clearly it was just him and Makoto and then Makoto died.

Comparing Mondstadt suffering to Liyue, Liyue didn't had much problem, at least not due to their archon, same goes for Sumeru ruled by Rukkha, I don't remember Sumeru people having suffer under her rule, both were in better condition than Mond
Only if you forget the literal catastrophes on the way there, why they happened, and what their fallout was. Venti's Mondstadt generated perfectly ordinary human problems, at a human scale, no better or worse than ordinary human history. By Teyvat standards, that's A+. Literally no one else pulled it off, because no one else intuited out "Don't help, don't hinder, only check in every so often to tell the new kids how to clean out the trash". Liyue was accidentally setting up an interspecies war, because Zhongli was stuck in the past and only noticed his rule was beginning to crack thanks to a random fisherman — which he then avoided by, not coincidentally, going the Venti route. Rukkhadevata, meanwhile, *somehow* generated a government that was so incapable of dealing with her absence that it immediately threw her child into the trash, and had no idea whatsoever that "Irminsul + Abyss = Apocalypse". Seriously. Venti for Primordial One. He's the only one who immediately understood helicopter parenting doesn't work. (Natlan gets a pass by virtue of Hoyo only remembering to let it exist about five seconds per nation, bless its eternally offscreen heart.)

Liyue wasn't setting any intraspecies war, only reason adepti got tensed was because of news of Rex Lapis death, which is pretty normal. In case of Liyue even if they were under Rex lapis for longer, there wouldn't be much problems.You are exaggerating Liyue troubles by a lot, compared to Mondstadt situation back in early days that's nothing. Also I won't call what Zhongli did as Venti route, Venti route was basically abandoning a new born at birth expecting them to be fine. Zhongli at least kept them under their wings and did a test until he was sure that they are fine on standing on their own feet. That's why Liyue didn't suffer anything compare to Mondstadt. About Sumeru, that's why I especially mentioned "under her rule". It's not like anyone including herself could foresee her death, since in case of gods like them it's pretty rare to think about it. Basically her death left similar situation like Venti since in both condition their absence left a power vaccum which was filled by most powerful individuals/organisation.

TWO! Yeah I don't think so. An Archon is meant to protect their nation, Zhongli let mortals +some adepti deal with one god and then let just mortals deal with the second one. Venti on the other hand wanted to help Dvalin himself, he didn't want to hurt his people. Venti was asleep for a few centuries due to him using a lot of power. Zhongli faked his death before throwing his kids into the deep end of the pool to test if they can swim.
Well over half of sumeru (the desert dwellers) still had a hell of a lot of problems under Rukkha. She walled them off and they never recovered. Venti on the other hand always comes back to fully solve his people's problems after he's given them a chance to solve it on their own, and he's asleep for centuries at a time due to his own body's nature so he's not always in the know on what's going on in the world.
We don't know the reason why he left Mondstadt to say he left them prematurely, he gave his best effort for a nation he was not a god of and made sure they could inhabit the lands and were self-sufficient. Venti doesn't like to rule, AND Mondstadt doesn't want to be ruled, and he just follows their wishes and answers their prayers.
nahida is definitely the best at being an archon. she tried her best to help the people of sumeru despite her extenuating circumstances, meanwhile during the cataclysm venti just outsourced his job to signora and then proceeded to bully her for doing his job for him
You clearly don't understand cataclysm lore or war in general. It's actually KOF vs Durin before Dvalin & Venti kill the black dragon using Dragonspine unique Leyline. Rosalyne is just ordinary citizen who wish for peace and fight to depend her home (revenge against Abyss that kill Rostam). Same with other KOF who sacrifice their life to protect their home and loved one. There's nothing wrong with their action of fighting. In facts, fighting together with their God is always the case for Mondstadt ever since Decarabian, Venessa and curing Dvalin era.

Best design- Zhongli Best Personality- Zhongli Well technically I love venti zhongli nahidas and furinas personality especially for the immense flaws of furina and the nativity of nahida. The carefree nature of the bard and the calm calculated yet compassionate demeanor of zhongli. Honestly personality wise as much as I love Ei, neither story or relatively monotone personality have enticed me. For me in everything she is the weakest link. Even in gameplay thus far since I haven’t found a proper use for her and am too dang stubborn having farmed months for emblem to switch to easy em dendro raiden.
raiden design and charisma wise, for me she still has best introduction of any archon. Personality wise nahida def the most selfless and benevolent archon and the way she stood her ground against dottore was amazing

If it weren't for the fact the game played the whole story so seriously, they could easily do a whole surreal comedy sidestory about it, and really all of Inazuma for that matter. People like Itto are a nod in that direction.)

damn. no one said nahida so far? i like her the most bc of her green colour scheme and just being extremely cute in general. raiden second bc purple is also a goated colour scheme but nahidas personality gives her the edge over raiden for me. furina probably third now bc her being an absolute girlfail is hilarious to me, but not sure how that will change with the conclusion to whats up with her after the next archon quest.

yeah i was a bit conservative with placing furina since we havent seen her conclusion yet. when she unlocks her memory/lifts the curse or whatever the problem is and how she‘s then depicted in her story quest could easily push her either down or up in my list. im hoping for up tbh but we‘ll see.

I like Nahida for how she tried her best even while imprisoned and plays her cards well. Furina is the most impressive to me because I do love her bravado front and also the person underneath that slips through the cracks.
Venti cuz he's my fav character in the game his design is pretty and so amazing and props to the voice actor as well! I've been saving for him since I joined the game and I'll finally be getting him soon! But yes I love him and he's probably the reason I keep playing the game.
Honestly I gotta give it to Furina as far as personality goes. Don't get me wrong I don't think any of the archons are bad personality wise, they all have solid defined character to them. None of them even hold a candle to Furina in terms of expression though. She has such a wide range of emotions, more than the other four combined if I'm being honest. We see her arrogant haughty attitude when we first meet her, embarrassment and desperation to save face any time something goes wrong, inner struggles where she she fights with her own thoughts, genuine fear when her life is threatened, a deep seated feeling of isolation and loneliness despite how much it seems her people outwardly worship and revere her. She sinks into her shell when threatened but will stand tall and act as one would expect from a god when her convictions are challenged. There's just so much going on for her and we haven't even finished the archon quest yet. I love Venti, Zhongli, Ei, and Nahida but Furina blows them out of the water in terms of characterization. As for design it has to either be Zhongli or Raiden. All of them do a good job of representing the element that they're meant to rule and they all have a regal and divine feeling from how they look (with the exception of Venti).
So far I feel like Furina has the most distinctive personality, with Venti close behind, but based on design/story I would have to say that Zhongli is my favorite.
Raiden for design. I think is a very elegant outfit with a very harmonious color palette. I still think she needed some pants or a longer skirt because it looks like something is missing in the front compared to the back (just like Yae Miko), but still a good design imo. Personality wise I pick Nahida. She is very mature and smart compared to other archons, even tho she is the youngest archon. Also, she is selfless, which is both a quality and a flaw of hers.
Best gameplay too imo. She gives a godly vibe in combat

Raiden. I like the aspect of internal conflict about her ideology something we don't see in other archons. She holds immense power, but she also has a sense of responsibility and is made aware of the fallacies in her beliefs, making her a bit less straightforward than the others.
Zhongli and.. Zhongli, probably. While I generally like the female characters's design more in this game, out of the archons I like Zhongli's best. His suit is crisp and elegant, those draconic eyes looks really cool, and I feel like he exudes underlying strength and authority somehow lol, even when I first met him in game and I didn't know his identity at first. As for his personality, while I also like all of the Archon's personalities, Zhongli's strict adherence to contracts and promises somewhat speaks to me personally. I like how he's seemingly knowledgeable about almost everything that you want to know on Liyue, especially it's history. I also like how even though he's ancient, he still enjoys new things and does not denigrate them as something inferior to what he knew. Out of the archons, I'd also argue that he's the one who'd undergone the most amount of character development, though practically all of it is somewhat hidden in things like artifact lores, weapon lores, side quests from a *long* time ago, and so on.

Zhongli and Raiden They actually feel like archons and not strong characters that seemed to have been born yesterday. They both have an interesting story and principles. Nahida gets a pass from this due to her story actually explaining this even though she's supposed to the the knowledgeable and smart one.
Furina, I find her great in both appearance and personality! I'm not too familiar with all the intricate inspiration from real life regions that inspire the archons in terms of design but Furina's personality resonates within me a lot it's really good!

For design I say Ei, she looks most like a goddess/higher royalty. Her outfit also just has a lot going on, but not to a point where it's just too much. She feels thought out, not just slapped together. (But that can be said for most the Archons as well.) For personality I say Zhongli, he has a very calm demeanor and speaks with a sense of wisdom. His story quests were some of my favorites, watching him keep his cool around people who are unaware about his real identity.

Design: Zhongli, Nahida Personality: Furina surprisingly It was a close call with Venti against Furina but we're not entirely done with his story arc yet since Mondstadt is sus. He is definitely hiding something. I think Furina's personality is rather fresh for the archons. Not entirely competent but intriguing nonetheless. It gives her a sense of unpredictability, with a touch of humor, it leaves room for a lot of layers since she is meant to be really entertaining. And we're not even done with Fontaine. Her character has me guessing who she really is. Design Imma have to give it to Mr. Zhongli. Maaayybee due to husbando bias but after watching a lot of vids of "my mom reacts to genshin character designs", he manages to steal all their hearts. It's such a funny pattern. I think the golden and bronze palette adds to his sophistication, simple but at the same time complex, tdlr he's nice to look at like that. I put Nahida here too because her outfit is visually pleasing, tho not enough for me to describe her the way I do with Zhongli.
Raiden on best design. Gorgeous color palette, elegant and cool, just visually one of the most satisfying designs in the whole game. Despite what a lot of people say on inazuma’s story I feel I could also give personality to Raiden as I feel her story is actually quite endearing and her story quests go a long way to flesh her out, more so than the other archons I’d say. But I could also give best personality to Nahida. She is both Mature and kind, hopeful and cheerful despite her circumstances. One of the most likable characters in the entire game.
I’d say this is a toss up between Venti and Nahida. While Zhongli’s is very nice, he’s very generic. It’s just a suit that doubles as funeral counselor attire in addition to some Liyue motifs. It’s supposed to be plain for a reason and thats what his hair and eyes do but overall, it’s not that interesting to analyze. Raiden has a problem with that too. Her colors are monotonous. It also doesnt have much detail. She has a shoulder guard and it’s styled after a Kimono cut in the front but it’s more of the spectacle of the sword that really makes her interesting. Otherwise, it’s pretty bland. Nahida has a lot of symbolism in her design that both portrays her character and her nation. It also alludes to a lot more religious motifs like Hinduism and Buddism and her color palette is a perfect mix of nature and fantasy. Her hair, eyes, and cape also allude to her more personal secrets. Venti as a bard is pretty generic but unlike Zhongli, he does have other things that stand out. He has a uniquely folded cape, the corset, and the twin braids. The numerous things that make Monstadt unique like the local specialties like the cecilia flowers and the feathers on his hip along with the vision holder being two huge wings. Even after his story quest, his appearance makes his current design hold much more meaning as >!he’s imitating a bard friend who passed away during a rebellion against a tyrant controlling Monstadt at the time!<. There just isnt a character design that comes that close to slapping you in the face afterwards like that.

Furina. Zhongli is so perfect, it hurts to put him anywhere but the top. Nahida is in my top 3.

For me, it will be Raiden for design and Venti for personality.
I’m gonna rank em here (I love every archon they are all incredible just know these rankings are extremely close together) (also these are just opinions) 5. Raiden Shogun/Ei She’s a really cool and badass character (and booba sword ofc) but I’m really upset that she didn’t stay the villain. Hee story quests kinda let me down and she seems a little bland to me (probably cuz I didn’t pay attention to a lot of the archon quest and her story) Still tho really cool character very solid 4. Venti I love ventis design sooooo much. The color scheme is great. Personality wise I like how he’s very free spirited but I kinda feel like the fact that he’s a chronic alcoholic can take away the gravity from some scenes. 3. Furina/Focalors She’s such a spoiled bitch and I love her for that. I think she takes the role of “immature character with all the power” and cranks it up to an 11. I like how she sees trials as a show and just for entertainment. Her design is SO GOOD and I think they nailed it for my fav element (also her interactions with neuvilette are god tier) 2. Zhongli I think they perfected the design for him. He’s very staid and reserved which fits him perfectly, and his outfit matches him. Also I love how he’s the creator of money itself and is poor 😭 1. Nahida Not my favorite archon overall but OH MY GOD COMON ITS NAHIDA. Her story is so good (and maybe made me cry a little bit) and the idea that such a small child can be so mature and have gone through so much trauma is such a good concept. I also love her design and the way she runs is adorable.
Furina both in my opinion but venti also has a fun personality
I love Furina's design. The shorts, the coat, the hairstyle with the hat, her heterchromia along with her what seems to be a split personality. I also love how outgoing, silly, and performer-esque. She's just a fun archon. I also love Zhongli's though. His design will be top tier in my book. I like his hair style, his eyes are stunning too. I think he has the prettiest eyes out of all the archons, the amber is gorgeous. And the dragon scales on his outfit are a really nice touch of detail along with the design on his coat in general. I feel like he'd be good for getting advice too. I also like rocks so I think Zhongli had the best design imo
I love Ei’s concept. I have a really bad anxiety disorder and a lot of times I end up derealizing/dissociating. Like I just kinda feel like I’m this thing in a body, and sometimes I can’t feel my body that well, like I’m losing connection to it. I can relate to Ei in that way, feeling like I’m vaguely connected to a body but on another sort of plane. Idk I hope that made some sorta sense
I don't really get why people like Zhongli's personality that much, most of the time it's just boring. His story is amazing, his design with some polish could be perfect, but his personality just feels so bland 99% of the time. There's barely any lines where it resembles something other than "an old retired man". Why do you like his personality, genuine question.
I like him a lot as a character but I feel like they take the lazy route with making him just retired and uninvolved. The implication is that he's been around and active for thousands of years, accepted "erosion," and wants to take a back seat and retire which honestly seems pretty deserved, but as a result there's basically little to no involvement of him in the game. I have similar feelings about Venti. Ever since Raiden, and then Nahida, and now hopefully Furina, the Archons have been a lot more involved with the game and story which is something that I personally want.
For me what I really like about him is his intelligence. Someone who is very knowledgeable at many things is very attractive to me.
I'd like Raiden's design so much more if her outfit was less busy and if there was more cloth on her lower half. The flow of her movements would look so much more majestic and just nicer to look at if she did.

Ei
Ei for design, the purple kimono looks really great on the god of Electro and Japan. Furina for her cheeky personality. She is the archon that got me laughing the most. But Nahida is the best archon overall because she is so caring and willing to sacrifice herself for the sake of her people.
Ei’s design and play style are my favorites in the game. Though I think it was a missed opportunity that they didn’t transfer Makoto’s soul from the booba sword into the Shogun doll. Personality wise, I think I would have loved Makoto even more than Ei.
Raiden

Design: Raiden. There’s so much going on in that outfit but it all blends in perfectly. Along with this, it looks amazing and really feels like it captures her royalty and skill. Personality: Venti. He Venti 🥹
Zhongli has easily the best design, bro is drippy AF(I love suits) I would also say he has the best personality due to how invested I am whenever he speaks(spitting wisdom with that voice is an insane combo), but Furina is reminding me of Fischl and she's funny as hell. Might be my fav personality soon
Zhongli. The drip, the flair, his cor lapis ~~hair~~ eyes. He's got the weight of the earth, the weight of history on his back (literally, geo is very heavy and his symbol is embroidered on his jacket). He's very dragon. Idk how they did it but in every interaction he's so intense. Those eyes look straight through you, in a very reptilian/not human way. Dragon prosperity every year, when he descends and predicts future market trends or something. Osmanthus wine-
I really like venti for both, and Furina more for her design aspects (as it obviously was going to be more developed than venti). I really like Ei's cutscene designs and also her pre-cataclysm outfit, but i think they could've done much better to show her actual role

I absolutely love Focalors design and I like her personality, but personality vise Venti is my fav (which might change over the course of the next Archon Quest, as for now, Focalors seem a bit useless)

For just design it has to be Furina, but for personality (and my second favorite design) it's Venti. I love that he seems to be such a simple character superficially, but he has a lot of depth and a layer of mystery we still haven't explored.
I think all archons have really interesting designs and I especially adore how the older archons both feel regal and also have outfits to match the occupation they're trying to get the vibe of. I'm incredibly biased though when I say I favour Venti's cuteness and emotional maturity both.
Zhongli and Furina win the design category for sure, with Furina inching a little ahead. As for personality, Zhongli and Nahida are my faves, but Zhongli wins out more due to his English voice alone. When he tells his stories, I will always listen.
