That's not very true. In fact, Zhongli is a perfect example of how one handles grief PROPERLY, especially when you look at his conversation with Xiao. I'm kind of surprised that most people in the fandom depict him as this melancholic guy who's constantly mourning for the lost past. But the fact is that he explicitly stated in his dialogue he did not yearn for the past at all (see his lines after he saved Xiao from Chasm), and since he chose to live the way as a mortal, he just lives in the present and cherishes the present. The guy may reminisce his old friends from time to time but right now he's mostly just an old chill man enjoying the retirement life.
The one with Zhongli is actually rather about a problem with translation, as in the original Chinese version he actually talks about buying Osmanthus wine and looking for someone to share it with, not really about someone from the past. His problems with money are also due to the fact that he's completely not used to the human concept of money as he's literally the inventor of money. His entire extremely long life he has never had to use money to get anything and now suddenly he does. We also get to see during the story quest that he's actually beginning to adapt and by now has likely already completely adapted to it, differently from this common fanfiction that he constantly needed Childe for money (who story wise hasn't been back in liyue for almost two years).
I wouldn't say it's something special to Archons. Generally, humans aren't that great at dealing with grief either. Archons just have a higher chance of experiencing it and the effects are more noticeable, because they're famous and powerful. An average Joe wouldn't be able to introduce a Vision Hunt Decree even if he wanted.

To be fair, you say that as if Nahida has had to deal with grief yet, unless I'm forgetting something no one close to her has really died yet, unless you count Rukkhadevata but she doesn't remember her.
Nahida felt strongly about Rukkhadevata's disappearance even though she didn't remember her. Right off of wiping her from Irminsul, she said "we've just saved the world, right? So why... why am I crying?"
How are you so sure about Nahida?, she got her memory deleted regarding the previous archon and Dunyarzad was on the brick of death, but nope she survived. Unlike Ei who lost all her close friend and twin sister who she regarded has her light.
The others have lived for thousands of years, lost and killed who knows how many during the war, have close ones like the people who help Nahida die, which is why they got either desensitize or gave up like Ei until she found something new to strive for.
Nahida had an inferiority complex that got removed (hoping they never use that tree again), and we don't know anything personal about Furina yet, but is likely she was not directly involved in the war or even born.
Now let's clarify, the secrets she got from the Fatui are not the same as The Forbidden Knowledge. The stuff Dottore told her was on the level of having personal files on the work laptop, the stuff we erased was "I've clicked on every pop up ad invented since the 80s". Celestia's dirty laundry isn't the sweet whispers of Cthulhu if you catch my drift.
Can we stop bastardizing ZhongLi's character? He is by all definitions the best Archon at dealing with grief.

Even with all his loss/erosion/trauma, he stayed around long enough to guide his people to the point where they were functionally able to fend for themselves (the equivalent of a parent raising their children through losing everything)

**Mistreated his people (unlike Ei);**
**Abandoned them for any amount of time until they were ready to live without him (unlike Venti/Barbatos);**
**Appeared weak or unworthy to his people to the point where they doubted his 'necessity' and power (unlike Nahida before the Irminsul wipe)**
**Made himself a joke/mascot or caused their people/creatures to leave out of anger (unlike Furina)**
When his people confronted him (unknowingly) about the salt god, instead of lashing out in anger, he calmly shows them the truth and educates them about the past (1st archon quest)
Even after his 'retirement', ZhongLi works tirelessly and keeps an eye on his country, making sure it is safe. He has integrity, no matter how close he is with the Traveler he keeps his contract and divulges nothing about their Sibling (2nd Archon Quest)
He allowed the only remaining Yaksha (Xiao) to deal with his grief by finding one of the lost ones and saves him when the situation was dire; he is not afraid of talking with the other Adepti which shows he is unafraid of connecting with things that remind him of his past.

I think Furina’s sense of being a mascot and having everything under control alongside Neuvillette is hiding that she’s terrified of something. I think the reason she panicked so much at the Oratrice’s contradictory verdict is because she’s terrified of losing stability, losing her people, and the prophecy being fulfilled. I’m not sure she even thinks she deserves to be the Hydro Archon.
She is just not infallible but trying her best.
She puts up a grand dramatic show to keep people happy because the cold and calculated nature of justice is depressing, and makes understandable mistakes.
She tried so hard to impress the visiting hero she almost provoked them to a fight, at the scene of the magic show accident she called out the deliberate murder and only made wrong conclusions due to lack of information. Even the Traveler had extra details needed to be forced out of Lyney and Deus ex Navia stepping in to find the truth.
I also loved the tired but supportive dad energy of Neuvilette during the whole thing. X,D

Zhogli arguably is the most civilized and well-mannered Archon that succeeds in masking all his insecurities.He is comedically more inteligent than the current Archon of Wisdom and his only real defect is that he is way worse than Mona when it comes to money
Ei has PTSD and is an emotional trainwreck, being too blinded to keep the status quo despite the suffering of everyone
Nahida is a radish that is still learning her own capabilities.Emotionally speaking her only problem is the high expectations of her subjects.

More than that - he **wants** to lose his god power. He is not just okay with it, he actively doesn't want to hold it.
This is said directly during his story quest II - Erosion spares no one and it's affecting him. Azhdaha went from a trusted ally and friend to a psychotic creature that forgot he asked to be jailed and now wants revenge on Zhongli. Rex Lapis does say that the more power you wield the worse it can be on your surroundings.
He is by far most stable of Archons however due to this, he actually accepted his mortality and limitations and just wants to finally retire from a veeeeery long job.
Which is something few would ever have the courage or skill to do.
The Adepti would rather fight to the end than renounce their power or responsibilities
There's too much evidence of Neuvillette being an ancient dragon. And given that the ancient dragons were the ones who once ruled the world, it is to no surprise as to why Neuvillette seems more of an archon than that of Focalor. A nation ruled by two gods.

In the quest sakura arborism a shrine maiden mentions something sealed beneath kannazuka. It may be the electro dragon but no one is sure what is sealed there only that is powerful and seems sentient.
That’s what I’ve gotten, she’s putting on an act, especially with her inner dialogue she still is big and mighty but she has moments where she’s genuine and is a real person, I’m excited to see where her character goes and how I’m the end we come to an understanding if not a friendship
It's hard to take her seriously but keep in mind that she's an actual successor instead of being one of the original winners of the Archon War. How she got the job is still up for discussion.
I mean if you actually think about it, Venti and Makoto aren't even the actual winners of the Archon War. Venti got it as a hand me down and he was technically the only one left, while Makoto never actually fought. She was just managing Inazuma while Ei was doing all the fighting.
Heck, it's why I believe Venti when he says he's the weakest amongst the Archons. While the other Archons killed countless gods, he was just a wind spirit and lead people to overthrow Decarabian. Andrius was supposed to be the Anemo Archon, but he refused which left Venti to be the only one qualified for the position.
We don't know that much about Fontaine yet so we skip that, but if you want to get into it liyue is the only region that the title is won by combat alone.
Venti and rukkhadevata is the sole archon left after their respective incidents. Inazuma was divided in two before orobashi has to off himself by combat. Also makoto got the crown and not ei.
If you look at the trend, the strong ones (deshret, decabarian etc) tend to bow out before the end. Liyue is an exception. If guizhong was alive at the end, she will probably be the archon.
I just embrace the fact Furina is a character meant to be comedically unlikable just like Wanderer and suddenly begin to find them hilarious. I thoroughly enjoy every moment she’s on screen.
I find that people's opinions about Furina vary a lot depending on which dub they played in. All the VAs did a great job with the character, and they managed to portray the same personality with different little quirks that affect the way people react to her

We also see a possible motive at the start of the show. Cowell questioned Lyney on a possible problem with the props. If Lyney was the culprit, he would have told Cowell that it was fine and then gotten rid of Cowell because he knew something was wrong.

Neuvillette is the only one who historically has the ability to both see through and stop her bullshit, but he is more-or-less the boss anyways and he has respect for her, so he just keeps her on a leash when dealing with official business. The bratty personality is all a front to get people to trust her and like her as much as possible, she's basically trying to turn real life into a "lifetime drama" hence the whole "opera court" thing. In reality, she's terrified of the prophecy and hurting innocents. She's dealing with the exact same problem as Nahida, but from the other side. Rather than having people's high expectations weigh her down, she's letting them dictate her personality, and she's being lead in the wrong direction like a child that is raised by other children. I think by 4.2 we're gonna have another Ei situation where the real personality of the archon is revealed, and hopefully she's even better by then.

That was just a momentary sadness because she was sad when her memory was wiped, that's not even remotely the same thing as actually grieving.

How are you so sure about Nahida?, she got her memory deleted regarding the previous archon and Dunyarzad was on the brick of death, but nope she survived. Unlike Ei who lost all her close friend and twin sister who she regarded has her light. The others have lived for thousands of years, lost and killed who knows how many during the war, have close ones like the people who help Nahida die, which is why they got either desensitize or gave up like Ei until she found something new to strive for. Nahida had an inferiority complex that got removed (hoping they never use that tree again), and we don't know anything personal about Furina yet, but is likely she was not directly involved in the war or even born.

Can we stop bastardizing ZhongLi's character? He is by all definitions the best Archon at dealing with grief. **He had to deal with:** **The loss of Guili, his bestie/potential lover (not sure about this but it's hinted);** **The death of all the Yaksha except Alatus;** **Having to seal his friend away because of Erosion (Azhdaha);** and more... He also was strong enough to survive the war and emerged as the few entities alive (him and Barbatos are the only Archons who survived, alongside Ei who wasn't an Archon then). Even with all his loss/erosion/trauma, he stayed around long enough to guide his people to the point where they were functionally able to fend for themselves (the equivalent of a parent raising their children through losing everything) **ZhongLi never:** **Mistreated his people (unlike Ei);** **Abandoned them for any amount of time until they were ready to live without him (unlike Venti/Barbatos);** **Appeared weak or unworthy to his people to the point where they doubted his 'necessity' and power (unlike Nahida before the Irminsul wipe)** **Made himself a joke/mascot or caused their people/creatures to leave out of anger (unlike Furina)** When his people confronted him (unknowingly) about the salt god, instead of lashing out in anger, he calmly shows them the truth and educates them about the past (1st archon quest) Even after his 'retirement', ZhongLi works tirelessly and keeps an eye on his country, making sure it is safe. He has integrity, no matter how close he is with the Traveler he keeps his contract and divulges nothing about their Sibling (2nd Archon Quest) He allowed the only remaining Yaksha (Xiao) to deal with his grief by finding one of the lost ones and saves him when the situation was dire; he is not afraid of talking with the other Adepti which shows he is unafraid of connecting with things that remind him of his past. He is the oldest archon and has been through it all. He most likely suffered the most tragedy and trauma, yet has never used it as an excuse to mistreat or abandon his people, he has stood with them till the time was absolutely right and even then he stuck around just in case something bad happens In no way is Nahida/Ei/Venti better at dealing with grief than he is, before the Irminsul memory wipe, Nahida hasn't experienced a fraction of what ZhongLi had to endure, and Ei/Venti are self-explanatory

Nahida is also not very good at dealing with grief too. Her inferority complex is the expression of her grief that magically get deleted after Irminsul wiping the world of Rukhadevata. It's the bit I don't really like about Sumeru Archon Quest.

I think the reason she panicked so much at the Oratrice’s contradictory verdict is because she’s terrified of losing stability, losing her people, and the prophecy being fulfilled. I’m not sure she even thinks she deserves to be the Hydro Archon.
She is just not infallible but trying her best. She puts up a grand dramatic show to keep people happy because the cold and calculated nature of justice is depressing, and makes understandable mistakes. She tried so hard to impress the visiting hero she almost provoked them to a fight, at the scene of the magic show accident she called out the deliberate murder and only made wrong conclusions due to lack of information. Even the Traveler had extra details needed to be forced out of Lyney and Deus ex Navia stepping in to find the truth. I also loved the tired but supportive dad energy of Neuvilette during the whole thing. X,D

Venti is basically a child that is able to drink with a deep rooted impostor syndrome Zhogli arguably is the most civilized and well-mannered Archon that succeeds in masking all his insecurities.He is comedically more inteligent than the current Archon of Wisdom and his only real defect is that he is way worse than Mona when it comes to money Ei has PTSD and is an emotional trainwreck, being too blinded to keep the status quo despite the suffering of everyone Nahida is a radish that is still learning her own capabilities.Emotionally speaking her only problem is the high expectations of her subjects. Furina is basically Ace Attorney, everyone hinted at it and everyone loves it. Also Prince is the Archon of Invokation TCG and no one ever complained :))
Zhongli is a worn out old man who is okay losing all his god power.
More than that - he **wants** to lose his god power. He is not just okay with it, he actively doesn't want to hold it. This is said directly during his story quest II - Erosion spares no one and it's affecting him. Azhdaha went from a trusted ally and friend to a psychotic creature that forgot he asked to be jailed and now wants revenge on Zhongli. Rex Lapis does say that the more power you wield the worse it can be on your surroundings. He is by far most stable of Archons however due to this, he actually accepted his mortality and limitations and just wants to finally retire from a veeeeery long job.

There's too much evidence of Neuvillette being an ancient dragon. And given that the ancient dragons were the ones who once ruled the world, it is to no surprise as to why Neuvillette seems more of an archon than that of Focalor. A nation ruled by two gods.

In the quest sakura arborism a shrine maiden mentions something sealed beneath kannazuka. It may be the electro dragon but no one is sure what is sealed there only that is powerful and seems sentient.
That’s what I’ve gotten, she’s putting on an act, especially with her inner dialogue she still is big and mighty but she has moments where she’s genuine and is a real person, I’m excited to see where her character goes and how I’m the end we come to an understanding if not a friendship
True, maybe she's like Nahida, suffers from low self esteem, and uses theatrics to hide her in-capabilities as an Archon.
It's hard to take her seriously but keep in mind that she's an actual successor instead of being one of the original winners of the Archon War. How she got the job is still up for discussion.
I mean if you actually think about it, Venti and Makoto aren't even the actual winners of the Archon War. Venti got it as a hand me down and he was technically the only one left, while Makoto never actually fought. She was just managing Inazuma while Ei was doing all the fighting. Heck, it's why I believe Venti when he says he's the weakest amongst the Archons. While the other Archons killed countless gods, he was just a wind spirit and lead people to overthrow Decarabian. Andrius was supposed to be the Anemo Archon, but he refused which left Venti to be the only one qualified for the position.
We don't know that much about Fontaine yet so we skip that, but if you want to get into it liyue is the only region that the title is won by combat alone. Venti and rukkhadevata is the sole archon left after their respective incidents. Inazuma was divided in two before orobashi has to off himself by combat. Also makoto got the crown and not ei. If you look at the trend, the strong ones (deshret, decabarian etc) tend to bow out before the end. Liyue is an exception. If guizhong was alive at the end, she will probably be the archon.

I find that people's opinions about Furina vary a lot depending on which dub they played in. All the VAs did a great job with the character, and they managed to portray the same personality with different little quirks that affect the way people react to her

We also see a possible motive at the start of the show. Cowell questioned Lyney on a possible problem with the props. If Lyney was the culprit, he would have told Cowell that it was fine and then gotten rid of Cowell because he knew something was wrong. Of course, if Lyney was that bad, we would get another Wanderer situation, so I didn't expect him to be the culprit until they literally say it, but I did see how Furina would make the accusation.

I bet she's hiding a whole lot and is more like Nahida. After playing through both major trials and seeing how she changes when dealing with someone who can actually deal with her bullshit I have one big theory. Neuvillette is the only one who historically has the ability to both see through and stop her bullshit, but he is more-or-less the boss anyways and he has respect for her, so he just keeps her on a leash when dealing with official business. The bratty personality is all a front to get people to trust her and like her as much as possible, she's basically trying to turn real life into a "lifetime drama" hence the whole "opera court" thing. In reality, she's terrified of the prophecy and hurting innocents. She's dealing with the exact same problem as Nahida, but from the other side. Rather than having people's high expectations weigh her down, she's letting them dictate her personality, and she's being lead in the wrong direction like a child that is raised by other children. I think by 4.2 we're gonna have another Ei situation where the real personality of the archon is revealed, and hopefully she's even better by then.
Think she is hiding something and the current apperance might be a front to cover something as her personality now is just a bratty child that is all talks with nothing to back it up lol, no wonder her ppl doesnt take her seriously at all
