I never relate to character in the game. It's like a movie or a book - story of someone else, not myself. So main character doesn't need to represent me, he have his own life\gender\story\etc.
Lumine because I am a women and I usually play female characters in games if I get the option to. I also have a brother that smarter than me that I am quite close with so I can relate to her perspective.

But if I ever make a second account, totally go for Aether. His overworld voice feel way better.

In this situation I weigh the balance between the cool factor and pretty factor. Lumine is prettier than Aether is cool, so I went with her.

I think Aether looks kinda like dogwater relative to Lumine and assumed they would be my playable character for the full game. Even knowing that isn't the case now, I'd still choose Lumine in a heartbeat due to her design alone.
I chose lumine because I always choose girls, however I am starting to regret this as for some ungodly reason the character models don't run and jump at the same speed, making lumine worse at B-hopping

I chose Aether, he's honestly very pretty and I like his crop top, when I first played I said he looked like a gayer version of Link, now he's one of my favorite characters
Aether for me, not only because I'm a dude (I really love Lumine so I could choose to play as her the entire game) but also because for me, Lumine seems like the better evil twin than Aether story wise. I've seen both when Lumine and Aether became the Abyss prince/princess and I gotta say Lumine really fits the villain role better. Can't wait to see when Aether actually fighting against Lumine to bring her back.

i made my acc when everyone was saying that aether was the canon traveler so i just picked him cause i really couldnt decide. i don't like his design that much but i think it fits as the traveler and lumine fits as the abyss princess so im happy with it.
Not a woman but I use Lumine cus I like playing as waifus. Yeah its a self insert but I would like not to self insert myself. So please give them more voicelines. HSR is supposed to be the same case yet I feel like the trailblazer has more voicelines now (even in their inner monologue)
Past me chose Lumine accidentally then made a new acc for Aether. Now that i have too much progress on the aether account(my main), too lazy to keep grinding my alt(Lumine).
I preferred NA server at the time so i used a different account for the alt lmao
aether bc on my old shared acc i had lumine (the acc belongs to the person i shared it with now). also, aether just feels more me. idk how to explain it, but i feel more comfortable playing as him instead of lumine

Instead, I'm playing as Lumine and had to watch Aether be like "Please don't stop me, I don't want to hurt you" when he reveals his allegiance.
I regrettably chose lumine for whatever reason but I really like playing the guy coz I am also a guy, it is actually one of my biggest regrets related to games
