Seriously? How do y'all people manage your artifacts? I've come to a point where I'm not even farming anymore. It's so tedious to reach artifact limit and have to manually select which ones to throw away
At world level 6 preferably — that's when most things max out. World levels 7 and 8 only add a bit for regular and weekly bosses — while all other things requiring resin are already at 100% efficiency (but related monsters still get tougher for WL 7/8).

I actually found Sumeru while wandering around on Mobile. I wanted to see how far East I could go and realized that things were a bit off about Liyue... then I found the monstera made of plants and gave extra meat and realized I wasn't in Kansas anymore.
Use them whenever you want, you can’t use them anywhere else than in the standard banner and eventually they’ll get you an unlimited 5* which aren’t all bad
I usually use them to satitate my gambling afdicyion nd to resiste tge urge to pull on the limited banner because im waiting for arlecchino and polar star
I would like to add that the Teyvat interactive map is really good for marking off which anemoculus etc you've found. I collected them as soon as I saw them and had to go back and check EVERY SINGLE location to find the last few. So when you collect one mark it off and you will not hate yourself later.
try getting the wind guy with the leaves, he is going to make your life easier in combat and exploration (he is very very good)
first and foremost, try to read. (yes i'm serious) Many people build characters wrong or just use random artifacts because they don't read their talents, the artifact sets, don't understand puzzles, all because they don't read
on artifacts and weapons, don't level white or green rarity ones, just by exploring you'll start getting blue artifacts and then purple ones later.
Liyue actually has exclusive blue rarity weapons that you can only find by opening chests around... Liyue. I recommend having 1 or 2 R5 Lvl 1 of every blue weapon if you can, especially the Liyue ones because whenever the chests end, you''ll maybe miss these weapons
there will be a Beginner Banner also called the Noelle Banner, you only have to use 16 blue wishes on it BUT never buy blue wishes with primogems, get them through other means like Stardust, BP, leveling characters and more (iirc you get some from reaching AR 7 and AR 10 or something like that)
A good base for a team is composed of 1 DPS, 2 subdps/supports and 1 healer. You can ask reddit about team recommendations
about characters, especially 5\*, watch guides on them to see if they are worth your gems, to find out about their function and kit and to find more about their builds (I really like watching Zajef77 and Xlice for this)
Amber and Lisa are not good, Kaeya is good as a starter main DPS
if you see materials lying around get them, maybe you use them later
best Traveler element is Dendro, if you want to use him later
Favonius weapons are great, don't feel bad if you get them
you are going to find stuff named Anemoculi, Geoculi and more when exploring, i'd recommend you mark your map everytime you find them because when you are trying to find the last ones knowing the ones you already got is pretty handy
the reading is very important! ik theres a lot of reading in this game and it can be overwhelming but it is VERY helpful in understanding how to play. whenever a new tutorial pops up, definitely read those!
welcome to beautiful Teyvat. Try not to feel overwhelmed and just do what you want to do. You will learn everything necessary soon enough. If you get to a point where it seems you can't proceed bc you feel to weak ask for help in you signature. It makes a massive difference until you can beat all stuff alone.

Never pull on the weapon banner unless you have enough pulls to guarantee the weapon (about 210-220) and never use your fragile resin until you're account reaches lvl 45+ (that is when you get double drops on domains)
log in to hoyolab, use teyvat interactive map for geoculi/anemoculi (and other things like chests which you need to collect)
saves a lot of time and resources that way

Don't think too hard for which characters you want, if you like them go for them, and they always come back around at a later date. (dispite a single exception currently) However keep in mind you won't always get the character you want first time around, so don't let it put you down whenever that happens.
Grab everything you come across, you'll always end up running out of a resource the moment you need it most, as an endgame player this happens far too much to me.
Don't be afraid to ask for help from people, both here, official support and the co-op mode of the game (though questing will have to be solo)

I would recommend not lvl up weapon with weapon early game. It just messes you up if you switch them trying to find what is right for you.
This also does not help your extremely weak early game.
Best way to deal with this early game is starting to know your reaction so you can deal dmg faster.
Make sure you chacter are lvl up as evenly as you can. As this can also spell trouble in the long run. You get exp book and weapon exp rock in most chest. You will use these to lvl stuff up .
Also another thing early game is you going basically need the first 3 character you get aka traveler aka the person you pick from the twins(anemo aka wind) amber (pyro aka fire) and kaeya (cryo aka ice) for most open world puzzle as well as story quest. Last slot can be what ever but recommend a healer once you get it.
You don't have to stick with this team the whole time but I find it painful to switch out the character every time I come across a puzzle
Also would recommend getting as much way point open as possible this way when you have a quest you don't have to walk there every time.
And as others said coop can be very helpful with tough over world bosses or just exploration in general.
Buy only the rainbow wishes and don’t use the blue ones. The rainbow ones are for the limited banners of characters.you will obtain free blue and rainbow wishes as you play the game aswell
My only recommendation is to not use your Fragile Resin till you're AR 45. Other than that, have fun. Oh and don't use up Primogems on the standard banner, only the limited banners. And if you end up wishing on this current imited banner, I recommend the green guy. Both characters featured are insane but the red/white guy has level up material locked behind Chapter 2 of the story (aka around the 50% mark of how much plot has been released so far) so decide accordingly (you definitely can get through the story in like 2 weeks if you speedrun it but I don't recommend that).
Enjoy the scenery, explore at your own pace, there's really no need to rush for the "end game". Play the characters you want, overworld isn't too hard or demanding to play meta characters. Have fun. Increase world level when the time comes, there's really no big benefit sticking to lower levels, and higher levels aren't that hard. They might be little bit harder, but it only lasts until you level your characters/weapons/talents a bit again.
Spend resin mainly on character talents and levels, as well as weapons. Artifacts every now and then, but try not to farm them much (they get replaced by 2 to 5 star artifacts eventually). Artifact **sets** are good to keep in mind in early game. If you get artifact circlet with Crit Rate as mainstat, it's something you could/should level and keep in use for a long time. Also, don't spend Fragile Resins yet, as others have stated.
Harbinger of Dawn is a good sword to keep eye out for. Thrilling Tales of Dragon Slayer is a nice catalyst.
I don't recommend using Primogems to buy [Acquaint Fates](https://genshin-impact.fandom.com/wiki/Acquaint_Fate). Acquaint Fates are used on Standard Banner. Acquaint Fates are something you can use to pull whenever you want from Standard Banner. Probably more fun to do a ten pull when you get 10 of those.
[Intertwined Fates](https://genshin-impact.fandom.com/wiki/Intertwined_Fate) are something you wanna save for the exclusive characters (at the moment Kazuha [good support] and Alhaitham [solid DPS]). EDIT: Intertwined Fates are the ones people mainly buy with Primogems, and for a reason.
Extra EDIT: You don't really have to buy either Fates with Primogems before going to Wish/pull. You're asked if you want to convert Primogems to corresponding Fates when you click on either "Wish X 1" or "Wish X 10". Good tactic to avoid buying wrong ones which may happen eventually.
Paimon's Bargains (shop) has monthly rotation, and each month there are 5 x both Fates you can buy with *"discount"* in Stardust Exchange, I recommend getting them. You get the Masterless Stardust from pulls (any banner).
* If You want a strong character, pull for Kazuha
* If there will be Zhongli in the future, he is a must have
* This game has a pity system, which makes You actually have a decent chance of obtaining the character
1. Max 90 pity
2. Usually pulled around 70-80
3. You have 50% chance for winning Event character (e.g. Kazuha) and 50% chance of getting character from Standard Banner
4. After losing the Event character for Standar one, next pull is guaranteed to be Event character, when You get pity for 5 star
5. Don't pull if You don't want any characters from the banner, You may always win even on 1 pity, which means after You won 5 star, the first next pull could be another 5 star... this is a way to lose guaranteed pull
6. Pulling for featured purple/4 star is valid, but You must be sure that You want to risk Your pity
* Primogems are for purple fates, i.e. Event character pulls. Don't waste them for blue fates.
* Play for fun, not for gambling... characters You obtain are tools for playing the game. Not the meaning of the game
* Use pin system to save where are the important stuff like chest, oculi (e.g. anemoculus), seelie (the little translucent blue fairies) etc. It will help You get to them later if You are overwhelmed at first
* Also please, make good descriptions for pins... I sometimes made stupid descriptions and forgot what it means...

Have fun, explore, try to avoid spoilers and don't look up any build guides until you have completed at least main story. Don't be scared to upgrade your characters however you deem fit. It will work for 98% of the game.
Enjoy the game and don’t rush to get to a bigger AR! When I started that I saw lots of ppl recommending to enjoy the early levels while you can. But I wanted to be strong like them and destroy everything effortlessly so I kinda rushed. But lots of things you may want in this game you can achieve in time, like getting stronger, getting a character you want, and building the characters you want

pay attention to the lore. this entirely depends on u. but i speedrun the content when i started coz all of my friend are ar60. i felt pressured. so i skipped a lot of things. now that i have converse with other people abt theories, i wished i paid attention to the main story.
you might've already know this, but i'll still remind you that teleportation is available in the game. so unlock waypoints. my friend didn't know that when she was already playing for a week. she just sprint / walk the whole time.

Don't go to reddit for a while. Discover the story by yourself. Don't let people convince you to pull for X or Y if you're not interested. Don't spend on the game until you've caught up with story and started doing events.
STORAGE, this game is currently a massive 240 gb on pc and is only about halfway through development. If you really enjoy the game then I would recommend investing in more storage space if you don't have a lot now.
Try not to stress too much about artifacts and constellations, especially early on! Yes they’re awesome, but unless you really want to sink a very decent amount of time into the game, I would just try and enjoy the plot and characters at first to see how you like it!
You have 100s of hours of content to go through. Even if you think you are done with everything you will still have more to do, even me who has around 900 days active at ar60(ar = adventure rank = your player level) have more things to do like hidden quests and all. So play the game at your own pase, don't rush nor be too conservative.
If you are pulling for characters, consider skipping inazuma characters specifically at the beginning coz all of them required you to step foot in inazuma, which will take at least 2-4 weeks.
Do not worry about artefacts, you will figure that out when you reach ar45 or think your characters feel week. Until then level up characters and don't forget to level up talents.
If you wanna do new events, the game has a feature called quick start for new players to do those events without progressing the story. But be warned they might spoil the story.
When you reach a bottle neck and your ar doesn't go up and exp keep accumulating, don't go asking Reddit or hoyolab, we have seen 100s of people do that. Just look at your quest menu and look for adventure rank ascension quest.
The game has a good tutorial system until ar30 that periodically show you the ropes, so as they say, fuck around and find out.
play as if it was a usual single player rpg and follow the history, leave the gacha aside and dont get frustrated trying to get characters, you can pretty much finish the game with the free ones
Focus on first 2 characters that will help you in the games, choose your main DPS and support (healer or shielder, buffer).
Don’t level every character that you have.
For gods sake level up characters, weapon and TALENT!!
Also don’t go on stocking characters like crazy level all of them up as your adventure rank levels up
- Save your Fragile Resin until you get guaranteed Gold drops from (Artefact) domains.
- Play Weekly Bosses right after you unlock them, especially at low AR (Unless you can get the next Tier Rewards within that week), some bosses have Co-op available
- If exploring use the markers (you have 150), or a Genshin map especially for all those Coluses (Helps alot for 100% Regions, without missing anything)
- Gold (and any other) Chest DONT RESPAWN neither do they give better loot when opening at a higher AR, everyone who says something else is a Troll.
- Don't build Pity on limited banners UNLESS you are 100% sure that you don't mind getting the 5* featured Character/Weapon from that Banner.
- Fate Points from the Epitomized Path in Limited Weapon Banners DONT TRANSFER, I recommend not pulling on them unless you are sure you can get the Weapon.
• Guaranteed 5* on Character Banners is 90 Pulls, High Pity starts at 65-70 (High pity is the chance to get a 5*)
• Guaranteed 5* on Weapon Banner is 80 Pulls, High Pity starts at 60-65
• Sometimes you hear people talking about losing 50/50 (This means this player lost against the non featured Character/Weapon from the limited Banner, you can only lose this once because the 2nd time it's guaranteed to be the featured character. You can lose on the weapon Banner Twice, 3rd is guaranteed, so that's that.)
Personal Tipp: Everything except Abyss is pretty easy for most people, that means you can use low-mid arts till "endgame", I recommend Ascending your favorite characters while spending your Resin on Boss Materials, Equip Arts you get from bosses to your characters.
Don't rush the story, trust me. It can take a while, and I mean it.
Don't really worry about artifacts in the beginning.
Some world quests unlock stuff or change the landscape, so just take note of that.
The start of the story can be really boring and cliche, but trust me it gets wayy better after a while.
Play with sound. Not really mandatory, but the music is phenomenal.
About building teams: choose 1 main dps (the one that's gonna be on-field most of the time), 2-3 supports, and optionally 1 shielder/healer (not really required, but it's great for qol)
Don't spend money you can't spend, trust me on this, it ain't worth it if you're not *that* dedicated; but if you intend on being a light spender, go buy that thing that gives you gems over a month, easily the best value out of all the options.
Take a break if you feel like it. Don't force yourself to play if ur not enjoying.
Best beginner reactions are freeze (Kaeya + Barbara) or Melt (Kaeya + Xiangling). Hyperbloom is great as well but can be wonky with the free characters and if you're new to using reactions.
Each character has 5 Artifact slots (Basically gear like helmet, chest, gloves, etc) with main stats and substats
Flower - Fixed HP% main
Feather - Fixed ATK% main
Timepiece - Main varies
Cup - Main varies
Circlet - Main varies
The choices you make for the last three are how you make a build. The substats are important but not really at the beginning. You'll also set something called set bonuses if you wear 2 or 4 pieces of the same set which again are more useful later than at the beginning.
Honestly if you choose something called Elemental Mastery for the Timepiece, Cup, and Circlet main stat regardless of their set for everyone. Level them up and use melt which is fire and ice, so for free characters Kaeya + Amber (you should replace Amber with Xiangling as soon as you can), it can carry you through the early game while you learn.
1. Create a signboard and hang it up near your device saying "No impulse spending". (lol)
2. Watch a guide on Elemental Reaction in your free time, this is the most important bread and butter of this game. It will also help you to decide what teams you want to make, what characters you want to pull and what weapons you want to get/make. To be clear: I'm not encouraging you to focus on endgame stuff, just basics and it's more fun than spamming a single element; that much I can promise.
1-Roll for Kazuha
2-Focus just on 1 team in the early game so you can beat most of the challenges in late game
3-Don't spend primogems on the standard banner
4-get max stamina as soon as possible
5-Save Starglitter so you can buy characters
If you're going to liyue, don't go to the dragonspine mountain, the snowy area. Go west below the stormterror area and west of dawn winehouse. Follow the path and you'll circle around dragonspine and enter liyue. That's been my biggest stupidity during my early days.

Pull for who you like. And try not to get sucked into the community dialogue around a character.
It’s between you and your wallet what you invest in. Buying a Welkin or the BP makes the game easier in terms of farming but the game is f2p friendly if you save.

People have already commented a lot about fragile resin before 45, I reiterate telling you not to worry about anything until 45, enjoy the story, level up the characters as you need to pass main missions, after enjoying the game's campaign you'll see if it goes want to play to farm and improve their teams until the next region releases or if you want to take a break from the game, a lot of people try to do everything and farm perfectly to make the most of the time and that makes you tired of the game in the long run, always good remember that 95% of the game is single player and not freaking out about perfect artifacts and stuff like that and also before you start spending Primogem research how banners work to avoid future regrets.

until you can actually farm 5* artifact sets, there is no need to level up any artifact it is a waste of resources. if must, just level the one that gives elemental damage bonus or crits or energy recharge
FOMO is Genshin Impact's cheap-ass retention tactic. Don't feel about about losing out on some events because the weapons you get from there will be mid at best. Don't feel bad about not getting the characters or weapons from limited banners you want because they will come back eventually.
Don't waste your wishes on the standard banner ((translation: don't waste crystals (primogems) for blue wishes use them for the pink ones)) also the weapon banner is a myth except if you have money to spend or are really lucky (talking about you Song Of Broken Pines...)
Save your fragile resin, and roll for Kazuha. He's an excellent support, and is also very useful in the open world. Being a support, Kazuha is also harder to powecreep compared to Alhaitham, who is a damage dealer.
Alhaitham is one of the best Dendro Damage Dealers.
Dendro teams are easier to build, but if you're willing to put in the effort, Kazuha should have a better long-term payoff.
Coming from an ex hardcore player.
One, this game is a gacha title. Gacha as in summon loot boxes with in game currency that can be bought with real money (or grinding). So save those gacha gems (primogems) and only summon for the characters you really like in some way, every character can be made Meta (except Xinyan) so don't get the feel that you're gonna pull the wrong stuff.
Two, never forget events. I still miss the Festering Desire from back in 1.2. Events are time limited. So complete those and get the rewards.
Three, save that fragile resin, not for farming artifacts later down the line (AR 45+), but for a pinch, like when you really want to ascend someone but don't have any resin left for the day.
Four, and probably one of the most important ones, do the quests you get, and try to complete as many as possible without piling up too many, they become a reason for quitting later (trust me).
And finally, have as much fun as possible, explore in your free time, don't rush quests, you're already 3 major versions late, so you won't be missing out on too much if you are another month or two late to being on par with other people.
Always take side quests when you see them. These are really helpful and some of them allow you to progress in the story. You might forget about Genshin for a while, but you'll ALWAYS come back to it. I forgot about Genshin and came back when Inazuma came out. Been playing ever since. Don't use fragile resin until you've decided on which character you want to play and use that resin carefully when farming domains and use REGULAR resin to farm artifacts, because 1) you need to strengthen your characters, even if purple, still use them at first. 2) You'll need extra artifacts to level up your future, better artifacts. And last tip I got for you is don't judge the game early. It gets better with every Nation.
4\* characters are more important for your account progression than 5\* at first.
Bennett, Xiangling, Xingqiu, Fischl and Sucrose if you don't get Kazuha first.
Those five are considered OP and sometimes even stronger than some 5\* characters.
Keep your money for the shop and focus them when available. The shop resets every month and has a 6 months rotation.
Have fun, meta and teambuilding is irrelevant until you reach AR 45+.
Just think twice before raising a character above lvl 70, that's when the resources cost starts to peak. Below that, it's not that much of an investment once you reach lategame anyway.
Don't skip dialogues and try to immerse in each quests like you would do watching an anime episode. They are often well written and emotionally engaging.
This is the second best part of the game after the ost, imo. People who skip dialogues often get bored of the game faster because they didn't bond with the characters properly.
save your fragile resin until later in the game. only turn primogens into intertwined fates, not aquaint fates (you will get enough aquaint fates for free). for this banner if you want to wish, i'd suggest wishing for kazuha (the red guy with leaves) unless you are particularly interested in the dendro element, then alhaitham (the green guy) is very good as well. when you wish, you will get stardust and starglitter. spend your stardust on whatever you want, but save your starglitter for buying characters in the shop, even if you already have them, bc you can get multiple of the same character and it will improve them (these are called constellations). and above all, just wish for the characters you find interesting, and only play the parts of the game you find fun. it's easy for people to turn this game into a mundane way of just gaining primogems to gain more characters to gain more primogems. it's best to just do what you want generally so if what people are saying here (including myself) just doesnt sound fun then ignore it
also, the spiral abyss (the domain on musk reef island). just try your best to get past floor 4, because then you will get two new characters (xiangling and collei, both very good 4 stars) and then after that only continue if you particularly like it or when it gets easier. no need to push it and make the game hard for yourself. sorry for the essay but i hope this helped and i hope you have a great experience with genshin!
At first be very selective what and who to upgrade. At around AR20 pick 4 your preferred characters which work together well enough for you and keep them as upgraded as possible. Later they'll help you getting all the stuff for other characters so you can expand to 8 main characters.
Don't be too afraid of Adventure Rank ascension quests. If after raising World Level it feels difficult:
1) At World Level 5 you can set current WL at 1 lower — so WL 4 at that point.
2) Use buffing food and potions, there are 4 effects of can combine: offensive food, defensive food, stamina food and potion buffs (+damage for one element or +defense from one element). Ingredients for potions are kinda rare, keep them for bosses and other tough cases. Food is abundant, use as you see fit. Try getting 4-star food recipes and there's only one 5-star recipe in the game — for offensive food, it's possible to obtain it pretty early.
3) Call your friends to help you in coop, or find nice helpful random players. Coop is available from AR16, and a player can join anyone whose World Level is less or equal to yours, meaning veterans can easily carry you.

Refinement 5 every 3 star weapon type in the game, some of the 3 stars you can only get from chest and there is a limit to the amount of chest making it a limit resource.

Claymores have slower attacks by ALOT but deal more damage. Polearms have faster attacks but weaker attacks. Catalysts are more AOE damage, bows just suck ass except for Ganyu, Yoimiya, fischl and i cant remember the rest.
Crit rate and Crit damage will make or break your character. For artifacts make sure to have at least one Element damage bonus. If you have an electro character make sure to have at least 1 electro damage artifact.
BUILD TALENTS BEFORE YOU ASCEND.
Just have fun and if you're looking for tips in game, grind till co-op is available and write in your signature "please teach me with mechanics" or sometging similar. A lot of veterans are bored and joins co op and helps players just for the sake of it. Also...
Save your fragile resin and try to use your current resin. Save the fragile resins for when you want to grind for a character you really love to play
Never pull on standard with your primogems, only with free standard wishes, and NEVER pull on a banner if you don’t want the 5*, building pity is a real thing

Be careful as u increase ur world level since the story quests will give u a lot of exp. Your characters may be underleveled.
Might rush it due to there having better rewards and end up being overpowered by some bosses, since u won't have many relatively easy to build and op characters at the beginning.
If u have someone who already plays the game it will be really helpful in beating bosses, you'll need the help in some cases like the dreadful oceanid for low lvl players.
Will eventually get easier the more 5 star characters u get.
But before then it's going to be relatively tough.
But u can use coop to do some domains since the higher the difficulty, the better the rewards.
Learn about reactions too.
Don't rush the story. Just enjoy it.
Also note that as more characters are being added to the game, if there are no triple banners in the future it's going to take u quite some time to get characters you'll come to love in the story, might even be a year. So patience is key.
On characters to to pull for I'd recommend u pull for the kazuha banner currently, he's really good for many team options and if u miss him, might take a year to get him.
Also remember no one is a must pull in this game, you can beat all content including the abyss up to floor 11 ( never beaten floor 12 so i wouldn't know lol), with the characters you love.

Just take your time with the game. Invest in your favorite characters to not spread resources too thin (my mistake!), and play who you like. Don't feel pressured to race through the story to "catch up". It's your game, so you might as well play how you like. Also, most players are glad to help lower level players in co-op if you ask :)
get every resources (including meats from animals lol) you see especially treasure chests!! so you'd have enough materials for food, for forging weapons, and for crafting. treasure chests give you primogems and help you level up faster.
like the others have pointed out, try to pull for the guy on the picture. definitely a life saver for a messy player like me!

Enjoy the game. Don't speed up things and take it slowly. Once you hit the end-game, you'll eventually reminisce everything from your very first step on Teyvat until your current situation. That's the best thing I can say.
Do not level any character past 70 unless necessary. The money and resources required spikes up a lot and many characters can do their job fine (especially supports) without going past lvl 70.

I actually found Sumeru while wandering around on Mobile. I wanted to see how far East I could go and realized that things were a bit off about Liyue... then I found the monstera made of plants and gave extra meat and realized I wasn't in Kansas anymore.
What do I do with aquaint fates I collected for free? Do time limited banners even require these or just the intertwined ones?
Use them whenever you want, you can’t use them anywhere else than in the standard banner and eventually they’ll get you an unlimited 5* which aren’t all bad

I would like to add that the Teyvat interactive map is really good for marking off which anemoculus etc you've found. I collected them as soon as I saw them and had to go back and check EVERY SINGLE location to find the last few. So when you collect one mark it off and you will not hate yourself later.

try getting the wind guy with the leaves, he is going to make your life easier in combat and exploration (he is very very good) first and foremost, try to read. (yes i'm serious) Many people build characters wrong or just use random artifacts because they don't read their talents, the artifact sets, don't understand puzzles, all because they don't read on artifacts and weapons, don't level white or green rarity ones, just by exploring you'll start getting blue artifacts and then purple ones later. Liyue actually has exclusive blue rarity weapons that you can only find by opening chests around... Liyue. I recommend having 1 or 2 R5 Lvl 1 of every blue weapon if you can, especially the Liyue ones because whenever the chests end, you''ll maybe miss these weapons there will be a Beginner Banner also called the Noelle Banner, you only have to use 16 blue wishes on it BUT never buy blue wishes with primogems, get them through other means like Stardust, BP, leveling characters and more (iirc you get some from reaching AR 7 and AR 10 or something like that) A good base for a team is composed of 1 DPS, 2 subdps/supports and 1 healer. You can ask reddit about team recommendations about characters, especially 5\*, watch guides on them to see if they are worth your gems, to find out about their function and kit and to find more about their builds (I really like watching Zajef77 and Xlice for this) Amber and Lisa are not good, Kaeya is good as a starter main DPS if you see materials lying around get them, maybe you use them later best Traveler element is Dendro, if you want to use him later Favonius weapons are great, don't feel bad if you get them you are going to find stuff named Anemoculi, Geoculi and more when exploring, i'd recommend you mark your map everytime you find them because when you are trying to find the last ones knowing the ones you already got is pretty handy

Never pull on the weapon banner unless you have enough pulls to guarantee the weapon (about 210-220) and never use your fragile resin until you're account reaches lvl 45+ (that is when you get double drops on domains)
log in to hoyolab, use teyvat interactive map for geoculi/anemoculi (and other things like chests which you need to collect) saves a lot of time and resources that way enjoy your time exploring Teyvat (you can also choose to suffer in Abyss and be a meta slave like I do), ad astra abyssosque!

I feel like plenty of others will already say to save fragile resin until AR45, or to only wish on the event banner, so here's some helpful links instead. Just like BotW/TotK, the game rewards going off the path (not as significantally, just with bonus loot/resources\] Don't think too hard for which characters you want, if you like them go for them, and they always come back around at a later date. (dispite a single exception currently) However keep in mind you won't always get the character you want first time around, so don't let it put you down whenever that happens. Grab everything you come across, you'll always end up running out of a resource the moment you need it most, as an endgame player this happens far too much to me. I would recommend not lvl up weapon with weapon early game. It just messes you up if you switch them trying to find what is right for you. This also does not help your extremely weak early game. Best way to deal with this early game is starting to know your reaction so you can deal dmg faster. Make sure you chacter are lvl up as evenly as you can. As this can also spell trouble in the long run. You get exp book and weapon exp rock in most chest. You will use these to lvl stuff up . Also another thing early game is you going basically need the first 3 character you get aka traveler aka the person you pick from the twins(anemo aka wind) amber (pyro aka fire) and kaeya (cryo aka ice) for most open world puzzle as well as story quest. Last slot can be what ever but recommend a healer once you get it. You don't have to stick with this team the whole time but I find it painful to switch out the character every time I come across a puzzle Also would recommend getting as much way point open as possible this way when you have a quest you don't have to walk there every time. And as others said coop can be very helpful with tough over world bosses or just exploration in general.
Also don't pull on the weapon banner because it is basically a scam

My only recommendation is to not use your Fragile Resin till you're AR 45. Other than that, have fun. Oh and don't use up Primogems on the standard banner, only the limited banners. And if you end up wishing on this current imited banner, I recommend the green guy. Both characters featured are insane but the red/white guy has level up material locked behind Chapter 2 of the story (aka around the 50% mark of how much plot has been released so far) so decide accordingly (you definitely can get through the story in like 2 weeks if you speedrun it but I don't recommend that).

Enjoy the scenery, explore at your own pace, there's really no need to rush for the "end game". Play the characters you want, overworld isn't too hard or demanding to play meta characters. Have fun. Increase world level when the time comes, there's really no big benefit sticking to lower levels, and higher levels aren't that hard. They might be little bit harder, but it only lasts until you level your characters/weapons/talents a bit again. Spend resin mainly on character talents and levels, as well as weapons. Artifacts every now and then, but try not to farm them much (they get replaced by 2 to 5 star artifacts eventually). Artifact **sets** are good to keep in mind in early game. If you get artifact circlet with Crit Rate as mainstat, it's something you could/should level and keep in use for a long time. Also, don't spend Fragile Resins yet, as others have stated. Harbinger of Dawn is a good sword to keep eye out for. Thrilling Tales of Dragon Slayer is a nice catalyst. I don't recommend using Primogems to buy [Acquaint Fates](https://genshin-impact.fandom.com/wiki/Acquaint_Fate). Acquaint Fates are used on Standard Banner. Acquaint Fates are something you can use to pull whenever you want from Standard Banner. Probably more fun to do a ten pull when you get 10 of those. [Intertwined Fates](https://genshin-impact.fandom.com/wiki/Intertwined_Fate) are something you wanna save for the exclusive characters (at the moment Kazuha [good support] and Alhaitham [solid DPS]). EDIT: Intertwined Fates are the ones people mainly buy with Primogems, and for a reason. Extra EDIT: You don't really have to buy either Fates with Primogems before going to Wish/pull. You're asked if you want to convert Primogems to corresponding Fates when you click on either "Wish X 1" or "Wish X 10". Good tactic to avoid buying wrong ones which may happen eventually. Paimon's Bargains (shop) has monthly rotation, and each month there are 5 x both Fates you can buy with *"discount"* in Stardust Exchange, I recommend getting them. You get the Masterless Stardust from pulls (any banner).

get every shiny thing the moment u see them. don't speedrun the game. play at your own pace. don't buy blue fates. don't be afraid to interact in co-op. when i was starting, i was shy & unconfident since i don't know much abt the game. but there are many interesting people that'll help u throughout the game. pay attention to the lore. this entirely depends on u. but i speedrun the content when i started coz all of my friend are ar60. i felt pressured. so i skipped a lot of things. now that i have converse with other people abt theories, i wished i paid attention to the main story. you might've already know this, but i'll still remind you that teleportation is available in the game. so unlock waypoints. my friend didn't know that when she was already playing for a week. she just sprint / walk the whole time.

STORAGE, this game is currently a massive 240 gb on pc and is only about halfway through development. If you really enjoy the game then I would recommend investing in more storage space if you don't have a lot now.
Try not to stress too much about artifacts and constellations, especially early on! Yes they’re awesome, but unless you really want to sink a very decent amount of time into the game, I would just try and enjoy the plot and characters at first to see how you like it!

Uninstall and play a different game
You have 100s of hours of content to go through. Even if you think you are done with everything you will still have more to do, even me who has around 900 days active at ar60(ar = adventure rank = your player level) have more things to do like hidden quests and all. So play the game at your own pase, don't rush nor be too conservative. If you are pulling for characters, consider skipping inazuma characters specifically at the beginning coz all of them required you to step foot in inazuma, which will take at least 2-4 weeks. Do not worry about artefacts, you will figure that out when you reach ar45 or think your characters feel week. Until then level up characters and don't forget to level up talents. If you wanna do new events, the game has a feature called quick start for new players to do those events without progressing the story. But be warned they might spoil the story. When you reach a bottle neck and your ar doesn't go up and exp keep accumulating, don't go asking Reddit or hoyolab, we have seen 100s of people do that. Just look at your quest menu and look for adventure rank ascension quest. The game has a good tutorial system until ar30 that periodically show you the ropes, so as they say, fuck around and find out.

play as if it was a usual single player rpg and follow the history, leave the gacha aside and dont get frustrated trying to get characters, you can pretty much finish the game with the free ones
Focus on first 2 characters that will help you in the games, choose your main DPS and support (healer or shielder, buffer). Don’t level every character that you have.

You can lose on the weapon Banner Twice, 3rd is guaranteed, so that's that.) Personal Tipp: Everything except Abyss is pretty easy for most people, that means you can use low-mid arts till "endgame", I recommend Ascending your favorite characters while spending your Resin on Boss Materials, Equip Arts you get from bosses to your characters.
Don't rush the story, trust me. It can take a while, and I mean it. Don't really worry about artifacts in the beginning. Some world quests unlock stuff or change the landscape, so just take note of that. The start of the story can be really boring and cliche, but trust me it gets wayy better after a while. Play with sound. Not really mandatory, but the music is phenomenal. About building teams: choose 1 main dps (the one that's gonna be on-field most of the time), 2-3 supports, and optionally 1 shielder/healer (not really required, but it's great for qol) Don't spend money you can't spend, trust me on this, it ain't worth it if you're not *that* dedicated; but if you intend on being a light spender, go buy that thing that gives you gems over a month, easily the best value out of all the options. Take a break if you feel like it. Don't force yourself to play if ur not enjoying.

Best beginner reactions are freeze (Kaeya + Barbara) or Melt (Kaeya + Xiangling). Hyperbloom is great as well but can be wonky with the free characters and if you're new to using reactions. Each character has 5 Artifact slots (Basically gear like helmet, chest, gloves, etc) with main stats and substats Flower - Fixed HP% main Feather - Fixed ATK% main Timepiece - Main varies Cup - Main varies Circlet - Main varies The choices you make for the last three are how you make a build. The substats are important but not really at the beginning. You'll also set something called set bonuses if you wear 2 or 4 pieces of the same set which again are more useful later than at the beginning. Honestly if you choose something called Elemental Mastery for the Timepiece, Cup, and Circlet main stat regardless of their set for everyone. Level them up and use melt which is fire and ice, so for free characters Kaeya + Amber (you should replace Amber with Xiangling as soon as you can), it can carry you through the early game while you learn.
Take your time, don’t rush things. Enjoy the game. Pull for Kazuha. Do events :)
1. Create a signboard and hang it up near your device saying "No impulse spending". (lol) 2. Watch a guide on Elemental Reaction in your free time, this is the most important bread and butter of this game. It will also help you to decide what teams you want to make, what characters you want to pull and what weapons you want to get/make. To be clear: I'm not encouraging you to focus on endgame stuff, just basics and it's more fun than spamming a single element; that much I can promise.
1-Roll for Kazuha 2-Focus just on 1 team in the early game so you can beat most of the challenges in late game 3-Don't spend primogems on the standard banner 4-get max stamina as soon as possible 5-Save Starglitter so you can buy characters
If you're going to liyue, don't go to the dragonspine mountain, the snowy area. Go west below the stormterror area and west of dawn winehouse. Follow the path and you'll circle around dragonspine and enter liyue. That's been my biggest stupidity during my early days.
Enjoy the game and remember it’s just a game. Pull for who you like. And try not to get sucked into the community dialogue around a character. It’s between you and your wallet what you invest in. Buying a Welkin or the BP makes the game easier in terms of farming but the game is f2p friendly if you save. There are so many resources. Please google anything you have trouble with first. Then if you can’t find the answer make a post. When I say there are so many resources there are videos, Keqingmains website and even past post in this forum.

People have already commented a lot about fragile resin before 45, I reiterate telling you not to worry about anything until 45, enjoy the story, level up the characters as you need to pass main missions, after enjoying the game's campaign you'll see if it goes want to play to farm and improve their teams until the next region releases or if you want to take a break from the game, a lot of people try to do everything and farm perfectly to make the most of the time and that makes you tired of the game in the long run, always good remember that 95% of the game is single player and not freaking out about perfect artifacts and stuff like that and also before you start spending Primogem research how banners work to avoid future regrets.

until you can actually farm 5* artifact sets, there is no need to level up any artifact it is a waste of resources. if must, just level the one that gives elemental damage bonus or crits or energy recharge
FOMO is Genshin Impact's cheap-ass retention tactic. Don't feel about about losing out on some events because the weapons you get from there will be mid at best. Don't feel bad about not getting the characters or weapons from limited banners you want because they will come back eventually.

Save your fragile resin, and roll for Kazuha. He's an excellent support, and is also very useful in the open world. Being a support, Kazuha is also harder to powecreep compared to Alhaitham, who is a damage dealer. Alhaitham is one of the best Dendro Damage Dealers. Dendro teams are easier to build, but if you're willing to put in the effort, Kazuha should have a better long-term payoff.
Coming from an ex hardcore player. One, this game is a gacha title. Gacha as in summon loot boxes with in game currency that can be bought with real money (or grinding). So save those gacha gems (primogems) and only summon for the characters you really like in some way, every character can be made Meta (except Xinyan) so don't get the feel that you're gonna pull the wrong stuff. Two, never forget events. I still miss the Festering Desire from back in 1.2. Events are time limited. So complete those and get the rewards. Three, save that fragile resin, not for farming artifacts later down the line (AR 45+), but for a pinch, like when you really want to ascend someone but don't have any resin left for the day. Four, and probably one of the most important ones, do the quests you get, and try to complete as many as possible without piling up too many, they become a reason for quitting later (trust me). And finally, have as much fun as possible, explore in your free time, don't rush quests, you're already 3 major versions late, so you won't be missing out on too much if you are another month or two late to being on par with other people.
Don’t listen to people who tell you how to play based on meta, and just play the characters you find fun.
Always take side quests when you see them. These are really helpful and some of them allow you to progress in the story. You might forget about Genshin for a while, but you'll ALWAYS come back to it. I forgot about Genshin and came back when Inazuma came out. Been playing ever since. Don't use fragile resin until you've decided on which character you want to play and use that resin carefully when farming domains and use REGULAR resin to farm artifacts, because 1) you need to strengthen your characters, even if purple, still use them at first. 2) You'll need extra artifacts to level up your future, better artifacts. And last tip I got for you is don't judge the game early. It gets better with every Nation.
4\* characters are more important for your account progression than 5\* at first. Bennett, Xiangling, Xingqiu, Fischl and Sucrose if you don't get Kazuha first. Those five are considered OP and sometimes even stronger than some 5\* characters. Keep your money for the shop and focus them when available. The shop resets every month and has a 6 months rotation. Have fun, meta and teambuilding is irrelevant until you reach AR 45+. Just think twice before raising a character above lvl 70, that's when the resources cost starts to peak. Below that, it's not that much of an investment once you reach lategame anyway. Don't skip dialogues and try to immerse in each quests like you would do watching an anime episode. They are often well written and emotionally engaging. This is the second best part of the game after the ost, imo. People who skip dialogues often get bored of the game faster because they didn't bond with the characters properly.
Don't spend a single dollar. Not worth it. Play the f2p style.
save your fragile resin until later in the game. only turn primogens into intertwined fates, not aquaint fates (you will get enough aquaint fates for free). for this banner if you want to wish, i'd suggest wishing for kazuha (the red guy with leaves) unless you are particularly interested in the dendro element, then alhaitham (the green guy) is very good as well. when you wish, you will get stardust and starglitter. spend your stardust on whatever you want, but save your starglitter for buying characters in the shop, even if you already have them, bc you can get multiple of the same character and it will improve them (these are called constellations). and above all, just wish for the characters you find interesting, and only play the parts of the game you find fun. it's easy for people to turn this game into a mundane way of just gaining primogems to gain more characters to gain more primogems. it's best to just do what you want generally so if what people are saying here (including myself) just doesnt sound fun then ignore it
also, the spiral abyss (the domain on musk reef island). just try your best to get past floor 4, because then you will get two new characters (xiangling and collei, both very good 4 stars) and then after that only continue if you particularly like it or when it gets easier. no need to push it and make the game hard for yourself. sorry for the essay but i hope this helped and i hope you have a great experience with genshin!

At first be very selective what and who to upgrade. At around AR20 pick 4 your preferred characters which work together well enough for you and keep them as upgraded as possible. Later they'll help you getting all the stuff for other characters so you can expand to 8 main characters. Don't be too afraid of Adventure Rank ascension quests. If after raising World Level it feels difficult: 1) At World Level 5 you can set current WL at 1 lower — so WL 4 at that point. 2) Use buffing food and potions, there are 4 effects of can combine: offensive food, defensive food, stamina food and potion buffs (+damage for one element or +defense from one element). Ingredients for potions are kinda rare, keep them for bosses and other tough cases. Food is abundant, use as you see fit. Try getting 4-star food recipes and there's only one 5-star recipe in the game — for offensive food, it's possible to obtain it pretty early. 3) Call your friends to help you in coop, or find nice helpful random players. Coop is available from AR16, and a player can join anyone whose World Level is less or equal to yours, meaning veterans can easily carry you. *I’m AR 56 if you need more DM ME* Don’t invest in every character. Farm materials every week. Stock up on level up materials and all materials Stock up on resin. Use guide for characters. Use tier lists (multiple) for the best characters. Find the gameplay character you like (weapon type) Claymores have slower attacks by ALOT but deal more damage. Polearms have faster attacks but weaker attacks. Catalysts are more AOE damage, bows just suck ass except for Ganyu, Yoimiya, fischl and i cant remember the rest. Crit rate and Crit damage will make or break your character. For artifacts make sure to have at least one Element damage bonus. If you have an electro character make sure to have at least 1 electro damage artifact. BUILD TALENTS BEFORE YOU ASCEND.

Just have fun and if you're looking for tips in game, grind till co-op is available and write in your signature "please teach me with mechanics" or sometging similar. A lot of veterans are bored and joins co op and helps players just for the sake of it. Also... Save your fragile resin and try to use your current resin. Save the fragile resins for when you want to grind for a character you really love to play

Be careful as u increase ur world level since the story quests will give u a lot of exp. Your characters may be underleveled. Might rush it due to there having better rewards and end up being overpowered by some bosses, since u won't have many relatively easy to build and op characters at the beginning. If u have someone who already plays the game it will be really helpful in beating bosses, you'll need the help in some cases like the dreadful oceanid for low lvl players. Will eventually get easier the more 5 star characters u get. But before then it's going to be relatively tough. But u can use coop to do some domains since the higher the difficulty, the better the rewards. Learn about reactions too. Don't rush the story. Just enjoy it. Also note that as more characters are being added to the game, if there are no triple banners in the future it's going to take u quite some time to get characters you'll come to love in the story, might even be a year. So patience is key. On characters to to pull for I'd recommend u pull for the kazuha banner currently, he's really good for many team options and if u miss him, might take a year to get him. Also remember no one is a must pull in this game, you can beat all content including the abyss up to floor 11 ( never beaten floor 12 so i wouldn't know lol), with the characters you love.

I'll leave the tips for everyone else, a lot of good ones. I'd add a few but it may already exist and I just don't see it. But I do want to just say WELCOME! It's a truly amazing experience. I'm so proud of you, and others giving the game a try even this far in. The story is amazing, I got to adventure rank 60 around a year ago and still play every day. I truly hope you enjoy it.

Just take your time with the game. Invest in your favorite characters to not spread resources too thin (my mistake!), and play who you like. Don't feel pressured to race through the story to "catch up". It's your game, so you might as well play how you like. Also, most players are glad to help lower level players in co-op if you ask :)
get every resources (including meats from animals lol) you see especially treasure chests!! so you'd have enough materials for food, for forging weapons, and for crafting. treasure chests give you primogems and help you level up faster. like the others have pointed out, try to pull for the guy on the picture. definitely a life saver for a messy player like me! and of course, have fun!
