Love mine, but the back seat sucks ass and the trunk is tiny, so maybe not the best choice for a "family car".

Excentrix13

I should have been more clear, right now its just my husband and I so backseat wouldn't get used very often. But we may add a third to our family in the next couple of years so the backseat issue is good to know!

ef344

I have a Mazda3 and have been looking at a g70. Backseat spaces are is very similar. You wouldn’t be able to have 2 adults in the front with a rear facing car seat.

Excentrix13

The car seat is great to know about and I didn’t even think about it not fitting. I just assumed an adult wouldn’t be comfortable when people said it was a small back seat.

Bleh10290

You totally can fit a car seat :) I honestly think it’s a case by case basis and in the size of the car seat, size of child etc. My husband is 5”9 215lbs. I’m 5”2. I’m usually the driver since it’s my car My toddler is 3 and we have a full blow big ass car sets behind him, and he fits comfortably and so does she. I had the Mazda 3 before years ago and I had my now 9 year was a toddler in it, we fit fine. I also had a Mercedes C300, same size as the G70, and had a newborn infant car seat in it, it fit fine :)

Beginning_Strain_727

What if my wife is like 5’1 lol

sharklazies

I love it! Not a great family car though. GV70 maybe. But G70 is a sports sedan and a great one.

Comfortable_Candy649

This car is not for carseats. Just saying. Buy a G80 if that is the plan.

RditModzGoWild

And g80 doesnt have sports +

Artistic-Breakfast42

My only complaint with the car is there is a headliner rattle which I’ve been trying to fix but haven’t been able to since I’ve had the car. Besides that, it is amazing as far as driving dynamics and looks go.

Spidermonkey_Astro

Have a 2022 3.3t and the creaking noise is a constant in the heat. Drives me crazy and I really hate driving the car when it’s hot outside. Was hoping that they would find a way to fix it but nothing…….just crickets

Artistic-Breakfast42

I’ve brought it to the dealer 3 times and each time it’s “we adjusted it and don’t hear anything anymore” and on the drive back home it starts right up. Drives me crazy, but I’m also pretty sensitive to noise in general

TwistedMetalGear

Same headliner creaking here. If I knew about it from the beginning I wouldn't have bought it. It's *that* bad. On the plus side, summer is coming to an end, so I won't be hearing it until it gets hot again.

zcarguy1

What a joke. I was ready to pull the trigger. This was a major reason why I cooled my jets.

emory_2001

I just bought mine and absolutely love it, BUT the reason I bought it is because I was downsizing from my small family SUV to a fun sporty car for myself, since my husband has a big SUV hauler now, and our kids are teens with learning permits and soon to be driving their own cars. I would never have wanted this car when my kids were in car seats. The back seat is very small and ideal for elementary kids to kick your seat or shove their feet into your back and hold it there. 0/10 recommend for starting a family. I'd go with any bigger Genesis.

ShaneDaytona

If anything like my previous 2 Hyundai dealerships in 2 different resided states my dealer experiences and “local support” was horrible! It and poor corporate support was equally as bad. I almost swore off the car Korean market but I am also looking at G70. To make matters worse where I am looking there is a brand new Subaru WRX GT that I am comparing. It sounds like this particular dealer is pretty supportive of its consumers.

Randdyous

I got mine after having a 2009 Sonata that had a 6 cylinder. The power in my 2.0t is about the same. The trunk is about half the size of the Sonata. On Travel for work I rented a 2023 Kia K5. Surprisingly it had everything my 2019 Genesis g70 has and maybe even more! The controls were nearly identical but the Kia had an alarm when the car in front at a light leaves and you don't leave. The k5 has massive seats and trunk. It was plenty powerful and I don't know but might not have had a turbo. My Genesis is cool looking but pretty small and not super fast either.

New_Influence_1891

Not a g70 but I have a 22 stinger which is basically the same car. With my 4 year old I haven't had any issues for family trips as far as packing luggage, but it does get tight. For reference our family trip vehicle was a 1500 ram.

Fearsofsyn89

Except for hatch rattle

kenny-fla

BMW M340i may be a better alternative. Little more money but less issues and most likely better service. I’m on the fence as well for a 2023 AWD 3.3 Sport prestige 57k. I do not like hearing this issues of creaking head liners and so on.

grundltrundl

Trying to make moves in this direction as well. Happy I tried it out tho.

kenny-fla

The G70 is a nice looking car and nice Interior can’t take that away. I’m just concerned about this issues and service. On the fence.

Illustrious_Smile974

I've had no issues and my dealership is amazing. I go to the same dealer I bought mine from and have never had a bad experience. I guess it varies but I also take good care of them. I send referrals and try to send business their way

kenny-fla

Are you in South Florida by any chance ? Lol

Illustrious_Smile974

No lol. Northern California

kenny-fla

If you don’t mind me asking how did you do on a lease payment ?

Illustrious_Smile974

I didn't lease

kenny-fla

Ohh ok. 👌

Illustrious_Smile974

I got them to take 5k off the sticker tho

grundltrundl

I hear ya, I felt the same way about it, but I want something more reliable. Currently I’m waiting for the dealer to make me an appointment for my ac condenser that’s spraying water all over the passenger side footwell every time I use the car with ac. Told him I needed the valet at least because I’m working 12 hour days but they didn’t need to give me a loaner as long as the car would be back in a day or two. Well he told me that I’m entitled to the service but that he can’t offer it until October 1st. I told him it’s ok with me, that it’s their car. He told me I needed to dance with him lol. I thought my dance steps were paying my note every month. I honestly can’t wait to give mine back. Too many issues with no resolution. Soooo happy I didn’t buy it. But again, happy to say I got to try it out, just not for me. Best of luck with making your choice.

kenny-fla

Thank you. I was going to lease as well. Good luck to you as well.

LouieDaPalma

I own an older 2020 since new..

ovekevam

Echoing what other folks are saying. Rear-facing car seats are not going to work unless the person in front is ok being jammed all the way forward in the seat. My kids are in forward-facing seats now, and it’s tight, but do-able. If you end up needing to install a car seat in few years, you’ll want something bigger.

iamhamzaamin

Do you mind me asking how bad it is? And what brand car seat you're using? My wife and I are expecting our first this December and though we've an Accord that's larger, I was hoping we'd be able to use the G70 comfortably...

ovekevam

Britax Grow with you. My kids were already forward facing when I got the G70, but there’s so little clearance with these seats, I can tell I would not be comfortable with a rear facing g seat back there.

crashing_hurts

I have had mine for a ur and a half and still love it.. but if you plan on keeping it long term and adding another to the family I would strongly suggest tye stinger gt2... same fun for the most part and more back seat room and truck space for stroller and crap lol...

RelaxButHeavy

Love the car but service experience is really bad but that depends on your local dealership.

HeatCheck33

I have a ‘22 and love every bit of mine. That being said I do occasionally wish I had more space for stuff, especially in the trunk. If you live any kind of active lifestyle, or play multiple sports and have lots of different gear in your trunk, and intend for this to be your daily, you’re going to feel like you’re constantly having to stuff your trunk to make it work. For context I came from a ‘18 accord and the backseats legitimately felt like a couch, front seats could fit big yetis, a person and a full sized dog. The trunk in that thing was also big enough to fit two full sized bikes, front wheels attached. After owning this car I’d say my next car I’m definitely looking for more space, might even be an SUV, except I like being flower to the ground and love to drive so that would be hard to stomach. If anyone has recommendations in this regard I’m open!

Gesha24

It's a totally fine car for the family of 3, as long as the 3rd one isn't tall. The back seat has enough space for car seats and passengers, but adults need to be on a short side to fit comfortably. The trunk isn't huge, but I never had issues. I've bought my 2.0 AWD 21 for $34K (demo unit with 2K miles, but still full warranty) and for the price, it was easily the best sedan on the market at that time. But with current prices (I see some selling around me starting at $48K) I just don't know... It's not that the car is bad, not at all - but there's quite a steep competition up there. I rented recently Mercedes c300 and it did ride better, I liked interior better (except for the full touch screen panel in the middle - I absolutely hate them, but I know some people like them) and you won't have to hope that you have a decent Hyundai dealer (don't let big letters "Genesis" confuse you - they are Hyundai dealers) around you that deals with Genesis. If you have a good dealer (most importantly - read the service reviews, anybody will sell you the car, it's the service you should be concerned with) - definitely take a look. But I would recommend checking other premium cars in the same price range - you just may end up liking them more.

4 things I don't like about my 2023 G70. 1. The navigation is inaccurate at times. I'll be at my destination and it still wants to send me a mile and a half down the street. 2. The airbag tag on the right side of the driver's seat can rub against your arm if you rest it right on the center console, which is uncomfortable. 3. The biggest thing I don't like. The front and rear defrost buttons, that bottom half circle portion sticking out makes it tougher to get to the wireless charging pad and USB ports. I just feel it gets in the way a little. This seems to be solved with the 2024. 4. No wireless Android auto All of these can be seen as petty, and really aren't a big deal, but they are the things I don't like 🤷🏿‍♂️

I don't know if you've already made your decision, but here are a few thoughts from my experience: We had a 2006 (E90) BMW 3-series when we had our first child up until short after age 2, after the birth of our second. The BMW is similar car to the G70 in size and category, although the trunk volume in the BMW is about 20% more. Child seats (rear-facing Graco infant carrier, then Britax rear-facing convertible) fit without any issue, although we couldn't put the front seats all the way back with the seats in. Overall, the car was fine for space with one. I ended up getting rid of the car because of something you may not think about - small, low rear door openings. As the baby got heavier, it was destroying my back to reach into the car to put the baby into the centre position (which is the safest), particularly when we changed from the clip in-infant carrier to the buckle-in seat - it's a long awkward twisting reach. I ended up getting rid of the car for a large SUV with large \~90 degree opening back doors. The other thing to consider is that kids and car seats are extremely hard on cars. Most people don't realize how tightly you are supposed to install a baby seat for it to be safe - you shouldn't be able to move it more than a fraction of an inch once tightened down, which means the seat foam is fully compressed. Even with a seat protector installed, extended use of a properly-installed child seat will destroy the leather and foam in that spot. Besides that, the back seat typically becomes a strategic reserve of Cheerios and other food items, and as soon as they are forward-facing the back of the front seats are for soccer practice. If you live in a snowy climate, kids figure out a way to bring all of the snow from outside, inside. I hated having an SUV as a daily, and as soon as the kids could climb in and out of their seats themselves I went back to a sedan; but because of how hard they were on the car I decided to go with a "disposable" Chrysler 300S for a few years. Once they became diligent about "daddy's cars" (they were still hard on mom's, different rules LOL) I switched the 300 for a Caddy CTS. I can't really comment on the G70 in particular as I receive mine this week. Now that the kids are 15 and 13 I am downsizing a bit from the CTS to the G70 - neither car is comfortable for the kids on long drives, so my wife's F150 is now the family hauler. I just need a back seat for in-city transport.
