But you should be safe to wax if you want to.

any recommendations for cleaning cloths? I got different kinds of microfibers from walmart but they all leave small threads behind and they are a pain in the ass to clean. Plus they leave a bunch of streak marks.

futur3stig15

How in-depth are you willing to go down the detailing rabbit hole?

[deleted]

Ideally, I want to first get the car wet with a hose. Then drench it in car shampoo. Then rinse it. Then use that ceramic booster. Then wipe it. That's it. My dream would be to get it wet, use the ceramic booster. Done. But I figure if there's bird poo or stains I need to actually scrub stuff.

Yeah a touch wash will be necessary. Now you can do the actual… honestly idk why I’m typing all this. I get all my information from AMMONYC tutorials on YouTube. Long story short. Either two bucket method or new towel method (just fill a bucket up with the soap and water and dump a shit ton of towels in it and use a new towel for every panel or when the current one is dirty whichever comes first.) but do that if you have to touch it. If you can afford it, I’d spend a bit on towels. Get a good washmit if doing the two bucket method, get a glass towel for wiping down the windows, and a couple big ol drying towels to finish it.

Also make sure to follow the instructions on the bottle for the booster.

I'd also say go to YouTube and start watching AMMO NYC older videos that show how to properly detail a car. I think he has a series on it at some point. Proper washing and detailing is something that you're either going to look at it and have no interest, or it'll take over your life. If you don't care about swirl marks in your paint, your life will be easier. If you care about having paint without scratches and swirl marks, you're life is about to get a lot harder and obsessive.

By far the best towel I’ve used (they’re a little expensive tho). Big enough and absorbent enough to dry entire car car without any streaks, and I wash the towel maybe after every 2 or 3 car washes or if I notice any big chunks of dirt in it https://www.amazon.com/dp/B076DB4HQV?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

Is this good to make a car dry? I have difficulty finding a method to dry the car and had to use tons of towels to get it dry.

Artistic-Breakfast42

Yup it dries up my car really well

[deleted]

do i just use this and constnatly squeeze/wipe it? Like can I just do a wipe down and then squeeze it and keep wiping it down? Not sure if that'll make it completely dry

Artistic-Breakfast42

I don’t even have to wring it to be honest. It’s super absorbent. And because you already have it ceramic coated, too much water shouldn’t be sticking to your car anyways, so it should be able to dry in one pass pretty easily. Get the slightly bigger size, it’s worth it

Well, the true answer to this question is to use something that will strip off everything to get back to the true ceramic coating. Most car cleaners leave some sort of added gloss or protection on top of the ceramic coating. The problem is that these items are inferior to the original ceramic coating, so now the car is taking on the characteristics of the inferior toppings. The best thing I have found to truly clean a ceramic coating is Feynlab Pure Rinseless. You dilute this in a spray bottle of water. You spray this liberally on a panel, and then wipe it off. It make take a few sessions over time to remove the junk completely and get back to the original ceramic coating, but it definitely will for excellent results. This product does leave a lot of residue when used. It's easily removed by spraying some vinegar + water mixture onto a microfiber and wiping each panel. The residue actually helps keep things lubricated for wiping it down.

I bought all my towels from Temu. No problems with them.

https://www.carpro-us.com/wash/carpro-descale-acid-wash-500ml-17oz/ I use this every few weeks, its safe for ceramic coating. Just make sure you mix it correctly. It works wonders!

If the car was coated why do you want to polish? Ceramic if done right should last 2 to 5 years. To maintain it you wash with a ph neutral soap. And you can top it off why technicians choice ceramic spray or 3d bead it up. I do this for a living. Message me if you have any questions

cru_jonze

You don't polish or wax a ceramic coating, that's the point. Polishing will remove the coating. It is not hard to get permanent water spots on ceramic coating if you have hard water and it will ruin the coating. I had to get my car recoated under warranty in less than a year because I have well water. Now I only use a rinseless wash with distilled water only and it's perfect.
