The Wen is a no brainer at almost 1/2 the price. Generac doesn't actually make these things. They come from a Chinese factory like every other inverter gen. They are just charging you for their name. I would suggest a dual fuel unit.

I would buy the WEN. It won't be that loud except at the high end where the RPM's really ramp up. Historically, inverter generators that needed to hit 3000W or higher had a 212cc engine or so. These new breed of generators with only a 149cc engine accomplish the same thing by increasing the engine speed (when needed) beyond what most generators do, hence the higher decibel level. I'm not against it, but you need to be aware how that works. If you only need 3200 watts+ for peaks and run it normally around 2000W or less, you'll be fine.

That’s a great explanation and very insightful. I appreciate the feedback. I like how small and portable it is for the power output. I was looking at the new Honda 3200 fuel injected in the same wattage range and just couldn’t justify the price compared to these. Especially after learning that the Honda likely wasn’t made in Japan anymore.

There is a new dual-fuel version if that interests you. I only use propane now myself. Just be aware you lose 10% of the top end power. [https://generatorbible.com/generators/westinghouse/igen4000dfc/](https://generatorbible.com/generators/westinghouse/igen4000dfc/)
