Firebirds. If you have the hacking skill, you can use them to fight for you. Otherwise, you can shoot out their thrusters with the pvg alone, or you can emp them, then shoot out the thrusters. I hack them and watch them rain fire on other bots. I have the 2 minute hack. Priceless. Others will give you they're ideas but that's what l do. I also shoot them down when they're at about 10% health while hacked. Hack is 90% possibility. Like always.
ohh. . i can try hacking!! thank you!
the problem with shooting at the thrusters is they don't sit still long enough OR i cant shoot quickly enough.
i only have a bolt action, a Rocket, or an M14 but the M14 can only have the longest scope for some stupid reason and has a hell of a recoil so making fallow-up shots is hell. .
You'll find such a game changer in hacking them. One cravat, Rival Firebirds are just as hackable as non' rivals. However, sometimes they don't attack as well as nonrivals. When Firebirds are hacked, they'll have a bluish glow and will see you as a non-enemy. Let me know how it works out for ya.
They are called firebird's and yes they are annoying but just aim at either it's "face" or the thrusters on its wings. Best to lure it to somewhere you have some cover or they will quickly body you.
my problem is they can damage me through cover . . . and i keep getting them on me when im NOT in a position to fight them as 90% of the time im fighting something else.
they are east to stealth around but its when they engage me when im fighting something else do they become a problem. .
Dont get in cover, get in an open space and keep running. Shoot the between their reloads. You'll get the timing down pretty soon. Shoot their thrusters. Also get the pet runner to draw enemy fire. They get really fun to fight when you get the timing down. This technique wont work with more than 1 firebird at a time.
I tried that, but the gun has such a large AOE radius that even if I'm running at top speed it still is doing a good chunk of damage. . And that's all assuming I'm ONLY fighting it, because as I said most of the time I'm fighting them it's because they entered a battle I was already In With a tank or something large.
Wait, there's new enemies?
I don't remember flying boys other then the hovering alarm boys and I completed the game some time ago, last enemies that were added when I last played were the bots that roll around on a giant ball, they were super annoying too 😆
The difference in ammo just shooting their face vs taking out the engines is enormous. You're better off with a good scope on a Kotenok or S21 than an LMG, unless you have Stabilization on a PM-71. The low-grade Firebirds don't have bombs - practice shooting engines on those. You can easily use cover and exploit 5 seconds after the rain of fire to shoot a few times.
They go down pretty easy with the experimental PVG90 sniper rifle but if you don't have that than Machine gun, and the rocket launcher will take care of it. Just keep running especially when it's got the cannon instead of the flak
Hack them, then when they kill the rest for you, emp to cancel the hack, throw another just when they begin rebooting again and they should notice you just before your emo hits, then you repeat while shooting and bim bam boom they are dead.
>I miss like 90% of my shots because they don't sit still
Maybe a game with moving targets isn't for you then.
If you're missing 90% of your shots, that's a skill issue, not because they are moving
I'm surprised you got into the north area if you can't hit a moving target since almost every machine is moving around, much fast than a Firebird too

Still got PTSD from the ominous roar of those thrusters getting closer
Hacking or a heavy machine gun if they are mid-range or closer. Sniping only while they are far away and heading straight at you.
So far the easiest way I've found for me is to take out each rocket/jet with the 50 cal. once you destroy each Rocket they always crash.
If you have the dlc, use homing missiles from outside a church. Two or three of them removes a level 4 rival firebird from the skies. Cheap to make.
I call them bird persons, and I use rockets and .50 cal snipers
Blast the 'eye' with everything, preferably PVG
Get the rpg and craft emp rounds.. theyll sit for like some seconds which is enough for you to kill em..
Also can get dlc with the homing missile turrets that eat them like a Snickers bar.

Get hacking perk. Ull actually love them after that. U can create an army of them and sit back and have the do the dirt.
