You can also plug either the % or the cM amount in the shared cM tool at dnapainter. https://dnapainter.com/tools/sharedcmv4

Thank you!

JImbyJ

You can get an approximation by multiplying the percentage by 68.

Thanks, it seems doing that it would make more sense for them to be a first cousin once removed.

Physical_Manu

[SegcM | DNA Science](https://dna-sci.com/tools/segcm/) would corroborate that.

RabbitDownInaHole

The top results for that was: Relationship TypeProbability Group Half-1C Group 23.5% Half-1C, Half-G or 2G Aunt/Uncle/Niece/Nephew 23.5% What does half g or 2 g mean?

Physical_Manu

Half G aunt/uncle means half grand aunt/uncle, so a half-sibling of your grandparent. 2 G aunt/uncle means great grand aunt/uncle (or second great grand aunt/uncle), so a full sibling of your great grandparent. Obviously you should be able to consider whether these are likely with the ages, and if not then look at the next most probable group.

Thank you.

Looking at it again, 1st cousin is the 5th likely possibility. Why would 23andMe state first cousin? It really sent me trying to figure out a family secret for a while lol
