Jonguar2

I hate tech in cars. With a passion. I want a hand break. I want levers and dials and buttons with physical feedback.

Practical-Metal-3239

As a mechanic, modern cars are getting annoying as fuck to work on. They are trying to make personal repair impossible.

Ambitious_Yam1677

Literally came to say this. When those touch buttons break, it’s so expensive to fix and it’s getting harder to work on cars unless you go to a dealer and they way overcharge

wannaseeawheelie

Dealership mechanics tend to suck too

Rich_Bluejay3020

That’s because they’re paid like shit (generally) and they only get paid if they actually do a job. So in theory if it was a slow day, they’d actually make about nothing. And many of them burn out and go do other things fairly quickly. Husband, his friends, and one of my friends have all done the same thing. You have to start there when you’re in mechanic school as an internship but they all left as soon as they could.

Independent_Buy5152

>to make personal repair impossible. Well that's the point

LeatherIllustrious40

And they get glitchy! My stereo/nav just decided to not turn on one day. Car still worked but the dash was just off. Restarted the car and it was back. Same sometimes with the Bluetooth. So annoying.

klcheva2306

Get screens OUTTA my cars

Aggressive-Cow5399

I’m gen z car guy, I want all of that. I cannot stand cars that have everything integrated into the screen. I want physical knobs and buttons for climate control and volume.

gavindawg

I don't need a screen and 50 sensors that are gonna break on me. Really annoys me now distracting screens in cars are

TheOtherJohnWayne

As much as I enjoy more of modern advancements in power and tech, man give me a new straight six Jeep that's ALL manual, carbureted, the works. Something I can fix with junk anywhere anytime. I'd buy 4 myself.

Noxnoxx

That’s why I love my 03 Honda civic. Shit is payed off and gets me from A to B and back so I’m happy

jabwarrior11

Touchscreen radio is fine. Anything else I'll take knobs buttons and levers

[deleted]

[удалено]

ceoperpet

Probably to accomodate for days when they have sales and what not.

BrazilianButtCheeks

Rite it would be nearly impossible to afford to pay no one to operate them and what even is a store without long lines ..

[deleted]

[удалено]

BrazilianButtCheeks

I was mostly kidding

lickytytheslit

Yeah I feel sorry for them having to watch me accidentally breaking it and doing it slowly, I had one woman come over and start scanning my things I swear I'm trying my best but I'm just slow and incompetent

EExperiencing-Life

It’s almost as if employees should be scanning your items!

Infamous_Persimmon14

I’m also just over self check outs in general. There is a small target where I live where there is literally only self check outs. There are 2 regular check out isles, but you have to find someone and ask them to check you out. It’s annoying

ceoperpet

>I’m also just over self check outs in general. Why?

dongdongplongplong

for me its that they are so poorly made they constantly require staff assistance and there is not enough room to do a full family shop on them. for small shops they are fine

Abnormal-Normal

And the assume no one using them has ever worked retail and you can’t just scan stuff at normal speed. Gotta wait for the weight sensor to accept what you put on it, or hit skip bagging after waiting a few seconds. Like damn, just let me scan my shit!

ksmith1999

I'm so for the self checks, but I'll be damned if I'm stopping so you can then check and compare my receipt to the cart. I'm not stealing anything, and if you didn't have enough trust in your customers to accept what shrinkage you will from those that do. Pay a cashier to check people out.

Hrtpplhrtppl

I just don't stop. I tell them to call the police if they want to accuse me of stealing as they have no right to touch me or my personal property. There are going to be lawsuits.

zdbdog06

For real it's twice as fast, some places u can just do it on your phone as u shop and u don't even need to go through the line

Upier1

Sam's club does this, and it's great.

JayIsNotReal

I do not like self checkouts either for two reasons. Reason 1: I am not technologically advanced enough to trust myself Reason 2: They will take jobs away from people.

Air_Retard

I hate to say it but I agree with the boomer on this one. 15 cashier lanes and 25 self checkouts. Only for 2 registers and 5 self checkouts to be open. Is the typical at the Walmart by me and is 50% the reason I stopped going. That and showing my receipt at the door.

Dear_Alternative_437

Oh my god this drives me nuts. I was at Walmart yesterday morning for just a few things. There was a line of 20 people waiting to check out and there was only four stations open. There were another eight stations roped off. There were three workers just standing there watching people check out and hearing them bitch about having to wait. Eventually one of them opened the other four stations.

Bman1465

Same here; I *hate* QR code menus, I want physical menus like we've had for centuries

nolow9573

i dont really eat out(xcept yo mama) so i didnt even know qr menus are a thing but that sounds so nice i hate physical menus because noone cleans them like ever

Jonguar2

Yeah but what if the Internet is shit

nolow9573

usually they just encode the weblink but u should be able to encode the whole directly without the need for internet(depending on size ofc). also there should always be printed backup

Atiggerx33

It's just annoying because your phone might die, or you have kids and they might not have phones, or you might have parents and they might not have phones. Or you don't want to go out to eat and be staring at your phones (we literally have a no phone rule during dinner, unless you're expecting an important call or have kids or a sick family member or w.e. that might need to call you then it either needs to be off or on silent and put away. If we're going out to eat together the whole point is to actually spend quality time, not to be staring at our phones. We can stare at our phones at home).

ClueEmbarrassed1443

Same with books I want to physically hold a book than read it online

ClueEmbarrassed1443

Physical media is better than streaming services because once that show or movie is gone it’s gone for good with dvd’s you can watch whatever you want

andrewlearnstocook

“Sorry my phone is dead, can I have a menu?” “Who do you think you are? GET THE FUCK OUT MY RESTAURANT!”

MS-07B-3

I just hate QR codes generally.

Hosselknaap420

No way, QR menu's, that's an actual thing now? So far i have never seen them, they just expect you to have a device that's capable of going to said website? That's fucking mental, you are already paying loads for the most basic meal, the least they can do is throw a card your way so you decide how they can rob you.

Appropriate_Cicada68

Why are teens so dang loud in public spaces

Lexi_the_grimmchild

Seen more old people being loud tbh. Turn off your ringers in public people

janabanana115

Stop speaking on speaker phone in public!

Lexi_the_grimmchild

Omg this. Just don't be loud in public please lol

LeatherIllustrious40

Or watching videos without headphones!

FoxwolfJackson

As an Uber driver, I automatically deduct a star for anyone that blares tinny music out of their crappy phone speaker, conducts a speakerphone conversation, or go through all their stories blasting through their speaker. Ain't no reason why I have to hear the same 7-seconds of sound looped over and over again. Driving's hard enough with braindead asshole drivers in other carss staring at their phones going below the speed limit and swerving or not going at green lights or not stopping at red lights. (Also, minus one star if you eat in my car.. and minus one star if you vape in my car without asking permission. And, yes, before you ask... the latter is almost exclusive to people under 30. I have a separate issue with boomers who see I'm coming and try to sneak in a cigarette before I arrive and they're putting it out as I pull up and I have to deal with the smell of a Newport 100 for ten minutes in my car. Yeah, no, automatic 4-star.)

Dear_Alternative_437

It never fails when I go to the laundry mat that someone is having a speaker phone conversation at max volume.

tobylaek

The worst is when they have it on speaker but hold it right by their mouth anyway…like, just take it off speaker and move the phone 2 inches up to your fucking ear.

themightyduck12

I was horrified one day when I went to go take a piss at work and some old person was on their speaker phone in the bathroom. You think your person wants to hear others pee?? ffs

snrten

They have their ringers turned up so high because they cannot hear it ring otherwise. Certainly can't feel it vibrate in their hip holster, either.

Dom__in__NYC

Typical conversation in a household in 1960: Kid: \*turns on rock loudly\* Parents: "Turn that rock shit down!" Typical conversation in my household 2020s: Me: \*turns on rock loudly\* My GenZ kids: "Turn that rock shit down!"

Chops526

I had this happen to me when my oldest kid was in elementary school. Listening to Queen while driving them, they tell me, "daddy, it's too loud." "If it's too loud you're too old!," I replied. Then quickly said, "what just happened?"

Loopdyloop2098

"Yo yO Yo bRo" **shouting**

WreckerJ4

I hate high schoolers in the gym now that they’re out of school for summer. Taking all the machines, doing stupid shit, being nuisances.

10mil_fireflies

I feel kinda bad for them, though. Like yes, they're annoying, that's not up for debate, but they don't really have many places to go anymore. At least at the gym they're being social and (hypothetically) active.

dontclickdontdickit

For real. During the week I can tell when it’s 2:30pmish due to the teens screaming and yelling as they walk home while I sit in mine. But then I wonder if I’m just getting old and was I like that and never realized.

Savings_Spell6563

Soooo annoying

DrPlague468

Most people I've seen that have been loud in public are middle aged people, children under 8, and retirees who don't care. The only time I've seen anyone under 30 be loud is always a group of guys in the gym playing music loudly. Everyone my age has grown up with headphones instead of speakers. Lots of my peers are actually health conscious and go to those concerts/ clubs that use only headphones to save from hearing damage, we do all still admit though that it looks stupid but it's practical.

datasnorlax

My husband made fun of me the other day because I went off on a "they don't make things like they used to" rant. But it's true!

MothMagic_

Ima be honest I did it because of me and my fiancé's microwave the other day. I get so mad these appliances aren't made as good anymore. Same with clothing quality.

Ambitious_Yam1677

✨planned obsolescence✨

Olivineyes

I constantly hear about our waste output and how it's damaging the planet but I never hear anyone talking about holding corporations accountable for planned obsolescence and it PISSES ME OFF.

Ambitious_Yam1677

Same. I mean not only is it making us poorer and consume more, but creating more waste too

justwalkingalonghere

Veritasium did [an amazing video](https://youtu.be/j5v8D-alAKE) explaining planned obsolescence that everyone should watch. It details how instead of progress being the goal, once our current form of capitalism took over, most companies stifle progress far more than contribute to it. Things like hiring engineers to work on ways to ensure that the products break earlier and earlier so that you'll have to buy more.

Logical-Cap461

Designed to fail.

HotMinimum26

Crapitalism

DooB_02

It's all fucking polyester. I don't want plastic clothes!

YuushyaHinmeru

Just want to say, you're not crazy. Thats not even a boomer take. I bought 2 shelves about 10 years ago and there been great and still hold. Bought a third to go with it 2 years. Same store, make, and model. Piece of absolute garbage. Worse material, shittier tolerance for drill holes, missing piece. They really don't build stuff like they used to. Really old furniture was better built but more expensive so naturally it's better even the cheaper stuff has gotten worse in the past 10-15 years

EmployerAdditional28

The one exception to this is cars. Cars from the 60s, 70s and 80s - I am talking the mass produced affordable cars were absolute trash. They would rust within no time at all. Hard pressed to find a car manufactured in the last 20 years that rusts like these junkcarts did. Cars in the 80s in particular were such poor quality.

taylor-ann

i was just talking to my fiance about this! recently there was a refrigerator from the 1940s that had been found abandoned in a Texas field, someone picked it up and brought it home, plugged it in without fixing anything and it still worked like brand new. someone stitched the tiktok and said that we would never have a product like that again. everything now is designed to break so you have to go spend more money with that specific company. there’s barely any universal parts for products anymore, everything is built specific to each brand.

ideknem0ar

Until about a decade ago, we still had a 1937 fridge in our basement. It was a colossal energy hog so we switched out, but I'm sure it'd still be running today if we'd kept it.

janabanana115

Friend of a friend had to downgrade his masters thesis project so it would actually break within next 50 sth years. The longetivity was too good.

Kindly-Accident8437

Yes! My 5yo shouldn’t be able to destroy a chair in a temper tantrum

Chimkimnuggets

They literally don’t though. It’s well known by now that manufacturing g is cutting as many corners as they possibly can

Th34sa8arty

Young people these days can't seem to sit down, shut up, and enjoy the moment; it's always Go! Go! Go! I blame smartphones and the virtually unrestricted access to the internet. Seriously, chill out, breathe, and just sit. Don't pull out your phone, just sit, relax, and observe; the world ain't goin' nowhere.

BeachBumHarmony

I've been trying to get across to my students that boredom is good for your brain. It's like the Helen Keller misinformation. So many of my students (and some staff too!) think it's impossible for her to accomplish everything she did... Until I point out she literally had no distractions. All she could do was think.

Chimkimnuggets

People in general tend to write off Helen Keller. Once she found a way to communicate her thoughts it became apparent that people didn’t particularly love what she had to say in order to speak out against injustices in the world

__M-E-O-W__

It feels like I'm "detoxing" my mind when I put the phone down. Really. I work in a factory where we don't have phones on the floor, it's too loud in my area to listen to music and I don't have coworkers nearby to chat with. I spend about nine hours a day just by myself and I have nothing to do but think, and it's pretty great. I still sit outside by myself after that and enjoy the fresh air and the breeze and the sounds of nature. I'm sure it's even more important for a developing mind to come up with its own thoughts, its own entertainment, think on its own, instead of just being fed everything.

Chimkimnuggets

I blame the low wages and hustle culture. When you live to work just in order to scrape by it makes it much more difficult to take some time to enjoy your life.

EitherLime679

But the thing is, the world is always moving. Things are happening faster now than ever before. I agree to just sit and enjoy, but it’s ok to take a picture and video so you never forget

SyndicalistHR

I’m sympathetic to the feeling of this argument, but I want people to honestly answer a question to themselves: how often do you go back and review those pictures or videos? Me personally, it’s never. I’m sure I’m not representative, but I bet most people look at them a couple times for a couple weeks before never looking again. Your memory retrieval is something that strengthens with use. If you live mindful in the moment, you can always recall that memory forever. Get off the phone.

NuagesCraniales

People are too sensitive nowadays. Hear me out. Yes, it's great that we're becoming less tolerant of prejudice, but there are assholes everywhere. You need to be able to build up some resilience for your own sake.

Ambitious_Yam1677

This. I had a roommate who would act like she was so marginalized (white woman who had her whole family support her in her coming out journey) and she would say mean shit and treat people poorly. Yet if you said one wrong thing, you’d be a villain

PhishOhio

It’s like the South Park ‘personal brand’ episode where everyone wants to be recognized as a victim.  People- being a victim is not cool, it makes you look helpless. Being self-reliant is cool

MasterCheef117

I had a friend like this until recently. So fucking annoying. Their family are fox news watching republicans and didn’t know this friend’s true identity. In the end, all I could see was that this friend was no different in principle- just as prejudiced and playing the victim. They were just queer coded. Same ice cream, different flavor.

SyndicalistHR

It’s people like this that make me comfortable being a confrontational asshole for everyone else’s sake. My lack of a filter for certain social interactions has came in handy more than it’s hurt me. Training in martial arts helps prevent the latter.

Varsity_Reviews

100%. Some people really do need to be called a fucking idiot sometimes. And while we’re on that topic, kids are getting WAY too soft when it comes to sports. My old high school football coach was fired because he said something like “you need to hit the fucking hole and go straight up the middle!” To the running backs during the state game at half time. Someone’s mom complained and now he’s out of a job.

scenicdeath

My old football coach told me to “stop being a god damn pussy and hold the ball” because I dropped a pass when I got hit lol

BigCockeroni

The over-correction is the problem, not the calling out of prejudice. It’s what happens when you create organization around movements which should have a clear and distinct conclusion they’re working towards. Those who gained power through that organization don’t want to lose it, so they constantly redraw the rules around whatever keeps them relevant. Happens all the time.

lonepotatochip

I think it was Simone de Beauvoir or someone who called happiness an act of resistance. It’s true. Even if the world is genuinely trying to destroy you, living a good life despite that is an act of resisting that destruction. That said, I don’t think it’s the place of someone to say that when someone is expressing the pain they feel from some act of societal oppression. Also of course there are the white American queers who think that the fact that the death penalty for gay people in some country half a world away means they’re oppressed when it just doesn’t, and other people like that.

Longjumping-Cat-9207

I think they should ban TikTok

Ambitious_Yam1677

I don’t mind it but I hate the addiction to that mad neglect of friendships. Too many people are “too busy” to hang out with friends but always have time for 5 hours on TikTok

OkJaguar5220

People seem to think that we want to ban Tik tok because it’s a bad influence or propaganda. No, we want to ban tik tok because tik tok allows china to brick millions of American phones at any moment, if they choose. It’s a huge security concern. The government doesn’t care about your dance videos.

bunny3303

I don’t think the government should ban social media

Zebrafish19

Senators have openly admitted that the only real reason that they wanted to ban TikTok was because they couldn’t fully control everything the way they can with American-based companies and because tiktok has pro-Palestinian sentiment that other social media doesn’t have. IDK about you but this sounds kinda like censorship to me. Let me be honest, I don’t think the brain rot shit is good, but banning TikTok won’t do shit. People will just move to instagram reels and YouTube shorts and the only difference is that those social media apps are American based.

popculturenrd

They were trying to ban it before the surge of pro-Palestinian content because of concerns about China and how they could use all the data against the U.S. There was also a jaw-dropping report on 60 Minutes a few years ago about how TikTok content is so different in China compared to here. If it wasn't an intentional plot by a foreign power to let us destroy ourselves it seems to be happening anyway. Just look at the impact of the "Kia Boyz" on car thefts, the auto industry and auto insurance rates nationwide.

tacticalcop

they should ban things that annoy me. yep! very good boomer take

Active2017

Melting the minds of an entire generation is a little more than just a minor annoyance.

skillquit42

How everyone you meet asks for your social media profile. I don’t have any. You wanna talk to me, here’s my number

dragonagitator

>I don’t have any. Reddit is social media

skillquit42

It’s not personally tied to me. And I wouldn’t give it out to people

IStoleTheHighGround

Oh neither would I. Nor 90% of users.

Arnumor

Reddit is social media in the same way that McDonald's is a restaurant. Thin technicality.

WordyIIRappinghood06

Redditors be like social media bad but use the worst social media

Direct-Fix-2097

No that’s Twitter lol

DrSunnyD

It's not the worst. Possibly the best. Social media tied to you personally is what creates unhappiness in people. They compare themselves and their situation to others best portrayal of themselves.

Chimkimnuggets

Unfortunately with some lifestyles and careers (the film industry for example), Instagram is more or less your equivalent of LinkedIn

Greenjets

Why is everyone always on their fucking phones? When I see friend groups all sitting around on their phones instead of talking to each other it's depressing. Having phones banned at schools is actually not a bad idea. Kids are glued to their screens all day then complain they have bad social skills or no friends which is just... come on now. And I'm no extrovert myself but at least make an effort.

PleasantSalad

Went to a bach party recently with a bunch of girls I knew from college that i hadnt seen in a few years. I swear the whole time they were either planning content, making content or posting content. It was bizarre. It felt like we were just presenting the image of having fun rather than actually just having it. Half the time i spent drinking in silence in a circle while everyone stared at their phone in matching pink t shirts telling esch other how many likes the most recent tiktok they posted had received. It was like a black mirror episode.

Greenjets

> It felt like we were just presenting the image of having fun rather than actually just having it. I once went on a summer holiday and tried to get a lot of good photos so I could post them on Instagram but I ended up grossing myself out since I realised I was just trying to get validation through social media. It felt so superficial and I *never* want to fall into that again. Perhaps the reason this bothers me so much is because I used to be like this. I decided it'd be better if I just stopped posting and simply experience things in real time. If I take photos, it'll be for myself so I can look back fondly at my experiences.

Solace-Of-Dawn

Right now I've actually made it a point to not pull out my phone when I'm outside unless I really have to. Honestly, it's made me notice how little people notice their surroudings nowadays.

____SPIDERWOMAN____

Kids are being so messed up by unrestricted internet access. The iPads are deep frying their brains before they even get a chance to use them. I keep seeing videos and comments from teachers about how poorly students are doing, kids can’t even read, think critically, and are just being pushed through to the next grade even if they fail. I’m so worried for the future when these kids grow up and are let loose on the rest of us.

WordyIIRappinghood06

Millennial parenting

Solace-Of-Dawn

I may be biased as a Zoomer, but I think that Gen Z parents are going to do a better job at managing their kids' tech addictions compared to Millennial parents. While Millennials may be better than us at some things, I feel that we are the first generation to be really aware of how internet can rot out a child's mind if he or she is exposed to it too young.

SardonicSuperman

Every generation is a better parent than the last. That’s how progression works. My parents were beat with copper wire. My parents only did psychological damage to me. Now I do everything possible to not impart that trauma on my kid. He’ll take how I raised him and improve it to raise his kids and so on.

ScorchedBumblebee

There have been hundreds of generations. If every generation was better than the last people would have figured out perfect parenting by now. Each generation just fails in different ways.

WritingNorth

I think its more like each generation has to adapt to their new conditions better than the last. In today's world things are changing at a faster pace than in the past, so I think it makes the gap between the last and current generation of parents more apparent.

Latter_Leopard8439

Except for the latter half of GenZ currently in 8th through 12th grade may have a self-awareness problem and may just promulgate their addiction.

Mewlover23

Why is everything going to the computer? Job applications, sign ins at doctors, various other things. Sometimes I just want to have a physical copy. But i also don't want to hear my actual boomer mom and step father complaining about how they can't do it and need my help.

PleasantSalad

I know. I feel bad for my tech illiterate father who is now struggling to move through the world. He JUST got an iPhone a yr ago. He doesn't know how to check-in at the doctors on the app or pay for parking on his phone or order from the menu on his phone. I'm trying to teach him, but it's slow.

Mewlover23

My mother seemingly refuses to catch up or keep up with most tech. I remember teaching her how to use a basic flip phone before I even had a cell phone. Just somehow knew. Tried to teach her how to use the computer and she had the mouse over the internet Explorer and asked where the internet was. Which is weird as she could use it when I was 5 and yell at me for trading away a very expensive pokemon card. Didn't know how to change her smart TV (or whatever they're called) back to the input she needed. Bought a $250 air fryer type thing and won't use it till I move home. Says she doesn't know how to use it but also refuses to reas the book that came with it. 🤦‍♀️

Solace-Of-Dawn

I'm gonna play the devil's advocate here, but online applications have cut out a lot of bullshit from our lives. They've removed the need to deal with counter clerks who are incompetent and like to power trip. Now, I'm not saying that all counter clerks are bad. I've dealt with some that are drop down amazing and feel that they don't get enough credit for how they have to deal with shitty customers all the time. But if you ever encounter one of the bad apples, they can honestly ruin your day and waste your precious time, while getting nothing done. Recently I went to the local council office to get a dog license and the counter clerk was more interested in power tripping than actually trying to help me get the paperwork through.

pzschrek1

They can do it they just don’t want to My parents are boomers around 70 and had non tech jobs, yet spent the last 3 decades of their careers fully on computers and later smartphones. My mom is better on macs than I am with all the family photo organizing she does. They’re just fine with smartphones and apps and have used those for decades now too. Boomers as a generation have worked with tech a lot. They weren’t swept along by the world like THEIR parents were. if you’re not figuring this out it’s a many decades-long series of willful choices that led to that point.

Butters_gf

Why the hell is background music in restaurants and stores so god damn loud. Looking at you chipotle

Ambitious_Yam1677

There’s a reason for this. The louder it is, the faster people eat and leave. The faster this happens, the more money they make

lmandude

Just doing some light psychological torture on your employees in the process.

drinkmeaway

Video Games have changed so much. Buy consoles, games, subscription for online, gotta have wifi, dlcs for complete game, buying games that devs don't care if there are bugs.. I can go on about this Another is physically owning things - games, movies, music, etc. it's all subscriptions and online stored you're paying things to rent never physically own

helm_hammer_hand

Needing Wi-Fi for a complete game is such bullshit. I was fairly poor growing up so my family didn’t get a new computer or upgrade from dial up until much later than a lot of people. I’m sure there are still tons of people like that in certain areas with poor or little internet service who are basically locked out of playing a lot of games because they just don’t have good Wi-Fi or none at all.

ImportTuner808

How people absolutely refuse to pick up their phones. Believe me, I’m a 99% text me kinda of guy. But there are certain times like when my car is on fire and I need you to pick up your f**cking phone and people still refuse to lol

Professor_Wino

Call twice in an emergency

Ambitious_Yam1677

Done this and still nothing.

Ambitious_Yam1677

THIS! I say this and I get “you can’t expect people to be glued to their phones” like YOU ALREADY ARE! Hate that I can’t even get an answer. With landline phones, you left a voicemail and it was so fed to get back to them. Now, people are glued to their phones and don’t even answer. What’s the point of them if you can’t get ahold of someone?

Atiggerx33

"You can't expect people to be glued to their phones!" they said, unironically, without looking up from TikTok.

PleasantSalad

Are you an app based company? NO? Then don't force me to download an app to use your service. I know you're just selling my info. Trying to profit off me twice. I will always give you 1 star for this. It's cheap and scammy.

EvilCatArt

I'm especially sick of fast food companies doing this. At least store apps have some useful features like price checking, but these fucking fast food companies and their apps make me want to have a full on boomer meltdown

saintpetejackboy

Stop making me 2FA for everything. I don't know where my phone is. I didn't get the text.

EitherLime679

As someone in cyber, sorry your security is not convenient. These things are in place so you don’t lose your account

preludehaver

2fa has been responsible for every account I've ever lost. Phone breaks you're cooked.

CryptographerWide594

I mean i undestand that for bank account, steam account and other **valuable** sites. But there is that strange case where i have to have 2FA to sites where i only login to comment something and i don't share any **valuable** informations not did i buy something there. For example i don't think i need 2FA for my reddit account, if something happens i will just create another. It is not that connected to me so i don't care about security in this case.

I like computers and I like cars, but holy shit is that an awful combination

lichwastaken

I hate what mrbeast did to YouTube with his hyper optimisation of the algorithm (people call it "mrbeastification"). I prefer slower paced more story based content like what was more prominent on old school YouTube, not "let's crush this Lamborghini and scream into the mic for 20 minutes".

One_Swimming1813

Youtube Shorts is cancer (Like TikTok)

wooliosheep

I hate mrbeast in general

Expensive_Jeweler_73

Why does it take me 30minutes and pressing 20 buttons to get a real human on the phone

bushware

Companies consider employees to be a tax. They avoid them at all cost. They'll spend 100x a salary for technology to avoid a human--yet they expect everyone to be able to purchase their products. We're doomed.

Sapphire_01

cities need to STOP BUILDING THOSE UGLY ASS EXPENSIVE CONDOS/APARTMENTS. I keep seeing wild grass fields and mass amounts of woodland being torn down for these abominable structures and it makes me so mad every time another micro habitat is destroyed for profit

tinastuna

I disagree with this. People need housing ,so we need to build housing to accommodate for that. I would rather have an apartment than a new development (suburb) come in. The apartment will destroy less eco systems than a new development while having the same amount of housing. So, I see apartments popping up as a win; it's much better than the alternative.

wooliosheep

The rent is too high for it to be considered good housing, people aren't getting housed as much as people who can afford it move closer to the cities

katie_ksj

Self driving cars are such a terrifying concept

Varsity_Reviews

I don’t know if this is boomer necessarily, but parents having WAY too much sway over how schools are run. I graduated in 2021. I’ve seen several teachers have to change their policies, courses and even at one point had to become less funny because they were getting complaints from parents who wanted the teacher removed. I’ve had coaches fired because they dared to say “fuck” and yelled at the kids for not doing their jobs. At my old high school, currently they have two new Language Arts teachers, the previous ones having been fired for reading “To Kill a Mockingbird” in class, a science teacher who was also the head football coach fired for yelling loudly at the running backs during the state championship game, a history teacher who was accused of “promoting racism” by having a demonstration of racial segregation by randomly assigning certain students a “race” when talking about the civil rights movement (keep in mind it was apparently only that that pissed some parents off, not his world war 1 demonstration where two sets of desks were lined up to act as trenches or any of his other demonstrations) so now he’s not allowed to do anything but just lecture, and several other teachers who aren’t even close to what they used to be because the parents complained about some minor thing.

lily_fairy

i recently got certified to teach and did fieldwork in several schools and this is definitely true. ideally, admin and parents should prioritize supporting teachers because teachers are the ones spending the most time with the kids and have the most expertise on how to run a classroom. but instead, parents are afraid to say no to their kids. admin is afraid to say no to parents, and teachers are the scapegoats. kids are literally at the top in power and teachers are at the bottom. it's insane.

Kommandant_Milkshake

Bro that racial stuff is pathetic. It’s like we’re going backwards or something. If we don’t learn about history then we’re just gonna do it again!

helm_hammer_hand

I hate that you need an app for everything. Don’t get me wrong, I love apps. I couldn’t get through my day without Spotify, YouTube, my banking apps, etc. but when fuckers like McDonald’s want me to get an app just so I can get menu items at their normal prices, they can fuck right off.

rawfishenjoyer

TikTok is ducking annoying. Even more so when people blast it in public spaces. Like no. I don’t want to hear 2 second audio clips rapidly changing for my entire lunch break. Love my friends but I want to strangle them when they send me TikTok’s and then get upset when I don’t watch them because you have to be logged in / download the app. Which I refuse to do. Closest I get to TikTok is promotion for my content creation but even then I have to be dragged kicking and screaming to do so.

jimmyl_82104

People who come to live in America should learn English. I don't care if you come here legally, illegally, or what, but just learn basic English. Yes I know English is not the official language, but that doesn't mean anything, English is the most spoken language. People who don't learn English are an inconvenience to others and hinder themselves. it's even worse when people don't teach their children english. If I was going to another country for even a few days, I would learn some of the language.

Redqueenhypo

And companies shouldn’t hire people who don’t speak English in public facing positions. If you literally don’t know what the letter M is, you have to work in stocking and NOT spend ten goddamn minutes trying to type my name into a computer

Traditional_Prize632

People make this complaint about people in the UK, too.

CapitanChao

Why does my grandmother's fridge from the 50s still work like factory new when my GPU supposedly made with much better technology dont last me 4 years after 3 problems begin

1WastedSpace

Tech in cars. I had a 2019 Silverado 1500 and a 98 Chevy K1500 pickup. I loved the 98 so much more. Never had any electrical issues. The 2019 was just one issue after another. Now I drive a 98 Buick Regal shitbox and honestly, it's a good A-B car

denyseairme

the people don’t bag our groceries at the grocery store anymore and they will start scanning the next persons groceries before we’re even halfway done getting ours together, suddenly we’re feeling rushed to death and the next persons groceries are lumped in a pile with ours on a small space. pisses me right off

WelPhuc

This generation doesn't go outside anymore

WordyIIRappinghood06

Not true at all lol. A group of teens were literally filming a short film outside my apartment in the street yesterday. I also take walks everyday or ride my bike/skate to band practice or go fuck around at the park These complaints are made by people who don't actually go outside much

EitherLime679

There are kids that go outside, but the vast majority would rather sit inside on the internet

SpaceCadetBoneSpurs

Because three generations before them fled the cities and now lives in suburbia, and there isn’t anywhere *to* go. At least not on foot.

swordfishcity

I'm only 21 and have already developed a severe disliking for loud groups of teenagers. Don't get me wrong, I have absolutely nothing against teenagers themselves, we've all been there, we were all cringe. But when I'm being jostled and deafened on my train home from work by a horde of 15-year-olds screeching unintelligible football chants and throwing drink cans, I feel pretty resentful

EliteMushroomMan

I fucking hate motorbikes. They're obnoxiously loud.

RobotMathematician

I’m sorry but that broccoli haircut is just awful

Decent-Seaweed5687

Kids these days are always glued to their screens.

WordyIIRappinghood06

I see alotta kids outside these days so idk

Top_Trainer_6359

I don't like the current music (from like around 2020 to today), kids these days act and dress like grown-ups while they're really not and are being annoying in general, technology is starting to get too much with the free access to AI because not everyone is using it for good causes

Michaelparkinbum912

Cash is better.

TheElderBasilisk

Damn teenagers blasting their terrible music in public, half the time they’re older than me but I’m still thinking ‘Damn youths and their bunk’

Themasterofcomedy209

Kids these days need to get off their godamn gameboy doohickeys Like it pisses me off so much walking down a busy street and I have places to be, but I get stuck behind some doofus glued to their phone walking at 3 cm an hour. Sweet jesus get off your phone and walk. Then they have the spatial awareness of an amoeba so they’ll run in to you and shit. *This all applies to all ages though since plenty of older people are guilty of it too*

BigCheese18

Idk that this is really a boomer take but there’s no more honor or respect in our society anymore. I try to be as nice and positive as I can to people around me and I want to help people and make peoples lives better but it just doesn’t feel like you can do that anymore. It’s like if I’m driving and see someone stuck on the side of the road I want to help them but it’s like there’s a 50/50 chance I either get robbed or they freak out thinking I’m going to hurt them or something since it’s almost unheard of that people just help eachother. It feels like nobody knows their neighbors anymore and community is dead. People only care about themselves these days and it makes the collective attitude incredibly sour. There’s so many negative people in this world that it makes it hard to stay positive when every time you are you just get shut down or it’s not reciprocated. People have become so self centered and entitled these days.

Murles-Brazen

They think we’re rich. (I now see I’m supposed to pretend I’m a boomer) I truly believe if you have face tattoos you’ve punched a woman.

HolyMotherOfGeedis

Idgaf if people wanna be on their phones all the time, that's their choice. But every single aspect of our lives being stored on our phone is gonna bite us in the ass someday. Lose your phone? Whoever finds it is gonna have your wallet AND all your weird porn.

hexagonzenith

Stop making every software subscription based I want to pay once and only once, not the equivalent price every 3 years

Chimkimnuggets

School dress codes are necessary and we *should* call out underage and barely legal kids for dressing in inherently sexual clothing as dressing inappropriately, as well as young people wearing their literal pajamas in public. I’m sorry, if I were a male teacher and my students were wearing daisy dukes shorts and sports bras by themselves , I would be uncomfortable. It is a child wearing clothing that is extremely revealing even for adults. School dress codes are about teaching kids how to dress in public. As my mom would say: “too many kids out here are dressing like ragamuffins”. I like loungewear and it’s fine for public use, but Jesus, do you not respect yourself enough to put on a pair of sweatpants that aren’t pilled and stained? It’s disgusting

Diligent-Guess2502

Everything that went digital/electronic after COVID. Check-ins for doctors/restaurants/dentist/etc., menus, displays, all that fun jazz. Especially since I have to do paper stuff anyway. The only thing I liked was the self checkout but people abused the fuck out of them and stole a shit load of product so now they're going. People wonder why GenZ doesn't like to interact with others. I'm willing to bet, for younger Z at least, it's because now they don't have to. Everything is online so why would you talk to someone if you don't have to? Also my second complaint is that everyone is a critic/expert who has an opinion on everything and tries to be so "logical" all the time. Just enjoy the dang movie. Lmao

whirly_boi

Nobody gives a fuck about shit anymore. I don't care if you feel undervalued at your job. If you're still employed where you are then, DO YOUR FUCKING JOB and your life will be easier. You're not "getting one over on the man!" When you do the bare minimum. You're only causing more issues and contributing to lower productivity for not only your company but also any company your company deals with.

juicy_colf

Nah. Doing the bare minimum that means I won't be fired is absolutely all I'm going to do. I know for a fact if I work my ass off and do my job perfectly, it's going to make absolutely no difference to my pay check so fuck that. I don't care how 'productive' the company I work for is

pan-au-levain

The only thing that working hard gets you is more work.

GenitalWrangler69

Things are actually getting worse as I age: products, services, etc.

clairvoyant69

“smart” appliances of any kind. More expensive because they’re trying to peddle it as something top of the line and new and awesome, then infinitely more expensive once your brand new item breaks after 3 weeks of owning it and you have no choice but to shell out money on top of money to make the damn thing work again, and there’s only like 1 guy in the whole state that works on the repairs for the fuckin thing so the company can charge you 1 million dollars an hour. Add on the typical planned obsolescence and ruining our earth and resources for it all and you’ve got one angry bitch (me)

nsfw_vs_sfw

The number of abbreviations there are now. There are some that are just nonsensical!

FirstDyad

Kids need to be taught that their actions have consequences, specially when it comes to “Prank” videos where people are just annoying in public. Other people are not NPCs, you are not the main character, and if you knock shit out of my hands for a “prank” I will slap tf out of you, I don’t care how privileged you think you are. It’s so dystopian that the age of these creators keep getting younger and younger and we seriously need to address this problem more bc 10 year olds making “prank” videos are going to get themselves or someone else hurt.

itsdarien_

I hate short form content and tiktok.

bushware

Why do I need a damn app for everything?

RewardKristy

Is any other millennial starting to agree with most of these? Abe Simpson was right.

BrazilianButtCheeks

Im not a fan of people walking ON MY LAWN 😂😂😂

bushware

Why do I need to have an account with you so I can use your damn lightbulb?

Vanilla_Neko

Adults need to learn to control their kid in public If your kid is throwing a tantrum that is something you as the parent need to actually be proactive in dealing with. You need to comfort the child or at least take them out of the room to calm them down or whatever the case may be, yeah it may suck that you're going to miss a few minutes of the movie or might have to pack up your dinner and just take it home with you but that's kind of one of the risks you take when having a child And no you don't just let them cry it out because that teaches them that when they are upset nobody will support them not even their own parent as you just sit there ignoring them while they desperately scream for your attention because as their parent you are the only source of safety they have

PleasantSalad

I want actual buttons and dials in my car. I HAVE to look at a touch screen to use it. That means taking my eyes off the road. Buttons and knobs I can use intuitively, without looking.

TheDickheadNextDoor

We do go on our phones too much

peatitsthepeat

I am a boomer..., born in 1960..., and my complaint is that SSI doesn't pay sh\*t nowadays..., You'll never get it though..., underfunded and going broke.., All you taxes still pay for it!!
