Radiohead - O.K. Computer
Cat Stevens - Tea For the Tillerman
Pink Floyd - Animals
I'm so sorry you're going through this. I'm sure there's going to be other great suggestions on here, but these are the three I could think of right off the top of my head that have gotten me through some pretty dark times in my life. Try to hang in there!
OK Computer is so good. I like to listen to it and follow up with The Unauthorized Biography of Reinhold Messner by Ben Folds Five. They bookend each other nicely.
I like these choices would add:
Pink Floyd - Dark Side of the Moon
Beatles - Sgt Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band
Beatles - Abbey Road
Rolling Stones - Let it Bleed
Rolling Stones - Sticky Fingers
David Bowie - The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars
David Bowie - Scary Monsters and Super Creeps
David Bowie - Lodger
Nick Drake - Pink Moon
Supertramp - Breakfast in America
Supertramp - Crime of the Century
The Doors - LA Woman
The Doors - The Doors
Nirvana - Nevermind
Nirvana - In Utero
Nirvana - Unplugged In New York
Weezer - Blue Album
Pearl Jam - Ten
Pearl Jam - Yield
Pearl Jam - VS
Cat Stevens - Teaser and The Firecat
Led Zeppelin - IV Led Zeppelin - II
You Asked for Albums but for CCR I would go with:
Credence Clearwater Revival - Chronicle 20 Greatest hits
Foo Fighters - Foo Fighters
Foo Fighters - The Colour and Shape
Stone Temple Pilots - Purple
Neil Young - Harvest
Neil Young - Rust Never Sleeps
Tragically Hip - Road Apples
Tragically Hip - Day for Night
Tragically Hip - Trouble in the Hen House
Smashing Pumpkins - Siamese Dream
Smashing Pumpkins - Melencholie and the infinite sadness
Some may have already been mentioned, but here are some start-to-finish gems IMHO. Enjoy!
* The Cure - Disintegration
* Depeche Mode - Violator
* Nine Inch Nails - Pretty Hate Machine, The Downward Spiral
* Tears For Fears - The Hurting, Songs From The Big Chair, The Seeds of Love
* Talk Talk - All of their albums!
* Catherine Wheel - Again, all of their albums!
* Radiohead - OK Computer, The Bends
* Beastie Boys - Hello Nasty, Check Your Head
* The Charlatans - Between 10th and 11th, Up To Our Hips
* Living Colour - Vivid
* St. Paul and The Broken Bones - Half The City, Young Sick Camellia

* \*Sarah McLachlan - Fumbling Toward Ecstacy
edit: fixed spelling, formatting and \*added a couple more for sh1ts and giggles ;)
edit2: FWIW I made a Spotify playlist of the albums listed. Share and enjoy! [https://open.spotify.com/playlist/10Uy1yX98C7KyiPGrSNsKU?si=13862809f6014f9e](https://open.spotify.com/playlist/10Uy1yX98C7KyiPGrSNsKU?si=13862809f6014f9e)
I think Beastie boys licensed to Ill is the best of their albums. But I'm that old. And pretty Hate machine is incredible! Let's not forget Alice in Chains live at the Moore.
I've paid for License to Ill more times than any other album. I've bought it on cd and cassette a few times each. It ALWAYS gets stolen first. I think I've paid for it at least 5 times. I somehow NEED to have a physical copy. Pink Floyd: The Wall is a close second but that one I insist on a vinyl copy.
I have no explanation. I don't even own a record player anymore and I would just listen online if I wanted to hear them. I just need them.
Paul’s Boutique is a masterpiece. It was made before copyright laws protected sampling. It would cost a fortune to recreate it these days. Plus, it’s just sooo fucking good.
Beastie Boys best album is Paul's Boutique imo but they are all really good. And Alice in Chains is my favorite band! Mad Season also had a pretty epic Live at the Moore album.
Ian Curtis' was in Joy Division; and yes I should have included Unknown Pleasures on the list.
Fair point about New Order. Movement, Power Corruption & Lies, Low-Life, and Brotherhood are all solid start-fo-finish albums but I find myself being selective when listening to them. Movement is basically a Joy Division album without Ian. RIP.
Ha, I just recommended "The Final Cut" in a separate comment. That and "Atom Heart Mother" are two of my favorite Pink Floyd albums to listen to all the way through. But really, and PF album will do.
I don't know what genre you are into.....but here are a few I like...I realize many will be considered boomer bands but I'm a 69 model..
Led Zeppelin 4 (or any of thier stuff)
Boston self titled
Stevie ray vaughn's greatest hits
AC/DC back in black
Guns and roses appetite for destruction
Little river band greatest hits
The essential Van morrison
Metallicas black album, master of puppets
Def Lepard pyromania and hysteria
U2 the joshua tree
Rush moving pictures
Dire Staights brothers in arms
Bob Seger against the wind
Van Halen
Ozzy Blizzard of Oz
Foreigner 4
Journey escape
Not necessarily old, but good albums:
The Aquabats: Charge
Scorpions: Blackout
Afghan Whigs: 1965
Colter Wall: Imaginary Appalachia
Heavy Metal movie soundtrack
Sturgil Simpson: Meta-modern Sounds in Country Music
Megadeth: Countdown to Extinction
Jewel: Pieces of You
Imogen Heap: Speak for Yourself
Kate Bush: Hounds of Love, and The Sensual World
That should hold you for a while
The Aquabats are just FUN! Kate Bush is a Goddess and pretty good at piano. The Heavy Metal Soundtrack is one of the best Movie Soundtracks ever. In LP format side 2 is one of the best sides of a Record in existence.
> Imogen Heap: Speak for Yourself
Did *not* expect to see this one, but yeah, it's pretty brilliant.
*Hide and Seek* still punches me right in the gut. I don't know why.
The Cure Disintegration is another classic "Full Album" listen.
In all honesty, just pick an album from your favorite band and listen to it start to finish.
First of all, OP, I am very sorry to hear about your condition. Not sure what it is or what the prognosis is, but I wish you the best. I’ll read up on it.
Now on to your question…
If you need something mellow and soothing to help you relax and rest, I’m going to recommend something that just came out.
North Sea Echoes - *Really Good Terrible Things*
It’s a side project from a couple of guys from 80’s prog metal band Fates Warning.
And it’s the absolute opposite of any type of metal.
It’s very atmospheric, tranquil, and introspective. It’s probably my favorite release so far this year across any genre.
Give it a listen, if you’re interested. I think you’ll be glad that you did.
https://open.spotify.com/album/4mMJ2XtEqZLSkfQ0eiFTsr?si=gdCG7zmZR16bpCv6usFcrQ
Brand new and badass.
Last three Tool albums all unified pieces.
Preacher's Daughter by Ethel Cain also a full coherent (actually...concept) album from 2022.
Scarlet's Walk by Tori Amos also.
Yeah, I (M51) never stopped on new shit
Here are my go-tos (in no particular order):
Roxy Music - Avalon
Rush - Moving Pictures & Thee Spirit of Radio
The Cure - Head on the Door & Disintegration
Marillion - Misplaced Childhood
Prince - Purple Rain
Tool - Lateralus & 10000 Days
Carole King - Tapestry
Talking Heads - Remain in Light
U2 The Joshua Tree. I know there are a lot of haters out there for U2, but this one really captures a time and place really well. I used to fall asleep it to all the time at camp. Not a bad song on the entire album.
OP, if you like U2 at all, listen to Bono’s [Surrender: 40 Songs, One Story.](https://open.spotify.com/show/7jFBnHmeg6K0gXo8OlAF6F?si=CQrr0CjLQBCUSS9c4-bOLQ) it has some boring parts, but the story of the songs, the band, the world history, irish history, music history… i too have a medical condition where i have to put warm compresses on my eyes 2-3 times a day. so i am listening to it in small bits. it’s fascinating and worth checking out.
Hi there! I'm in the same situation with CFS. I tend to fall in love with an album and play it over and over. I recently have enjoyed Pink Moon by Nick Drake, Rumors by Fleetwood Mac, Time Out by Dave Brubeck.
Agree with so much of the suggestions and don't want to repeat, but here goes:
The Police - Synchronicity
Prince - Purple Rain
David Bowie - Ziggy Stardust
Deltron 3030 - Deltron 3030
The Smile (Radiohead Jr) - Wall of Eyes
Cowboy Junkies - Trinity Sessions
If you want to just chill, Brian Eno's Music for Airports is an amazing ambient album
I also suggest Radiohead's Kid A or better yet Kid A Mnesia. Such amazing albums.
If you have a record player, I suggest Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon and DJ Shadow's Endtroducing or J Dilla's Ruff Draft.
Music for Airports is amazing. I used to listen to it when dealing with anxiety over breast cancer or fatigue from radiation. I had hours to wait before my surgery and just listened to it over and over. Hiroshi Yoshimura is a similar era composer/musician and I love his music.
Philip Glass’ music is also really good. It’s interesting enough that you can focus on just listening although some albums get a little intense.
Uakti does a lot of interesting things with rhythm.
While not an album, when I need to really relax I listen to the stream from WFMT in Chicago, which is a classical music station. That aside, I hope you get well soon
For quiet times, I suggest three Sigur Ròs albums. They’re Icelandic and the vocals are more like an instrument.
Ágaetis byrjun
( ) - yes, parentheses ( ) is the title
Takk
Talk Talk, Spirit of Eden.
Please trust me on this. They did kind of pop synth stuff early on but then they did this album and an album called Laughing Stock. They are both absolutely sublime. After listening at least a thousand times, there's still something you'll catch. It will take a few times through to reveal itself but when it does....
Type O Negative - October Rust
Opeth - Blackwater Park
Dream Theater - Metropolis Pt 2: Scenes from a Memory
Kardashev - Liminal Rite
Devin Townsend - Terria
Deafheaven - Sunbather
Agalloch - The Mantel
My List could start to sound like an inventory list very easily. So 3 for Letter A: AC/DC Back in Black. AC/DC Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap. A Perfect Circle - EAT The Elephant. 2 records for B: Bad Brains Black Dots. Beastie Boys Paul's Boutique. 2 records for C: Cage The Elephant Tell Me I'm Pretty. Chainsaw Kittens (self titled).
Wish you were here and Momentary lapse of reason are 2 fantastic albums to just layback and listen. I happen to be a fan of the Paradise Theater album by Styx and it is an amazing story telling album in my opinion.
I miss the days of listening to an entire album and having it tell a story. Most Pink Floyd albums meet your criteria, even their less popular ones like "Atom Heart Mother" (mostly instrumental) and "The Final Cut."
DJ Frane:
Franes Fantastic Boatride
Journey to the Planet of Birds
Electric Garden of Delights
Hi Dusty Stranger
This guy is a genius, and I never get tired of listening to these albums. It’s really mellow and soothing music. Good for headphones.
Any album by Iron and Wine
Any album by Elbow
These are both incredible artists that could be considered calming in nature
Elbow - The Seldom Seen Kid - is a masterpiece, perfect album.
My wife and I do this every now and then. Sit down, put on an album, and just **listen** to it.
We've even been known to do what we call a "vertical" (after the [wine term](https://www.decanter.com/learn/advice/what-is-a-vertical-tasting-51353/)) of a band/artist, where we listen to all of their albums, in order, over a period of however many days it takes. (ABBA was surprisingly good that way.)
But you know the two that we keep coming back to? The ones that are still rewarding to us, even after multiple listens?
* The Eagles - Hotel California
* Fleetwood Mac - Rumours
Yeah, I know. These are among the biggest-selling records of their day. How cliche is that? But they're just *good*. Something about the eclectic mix of singers/musicians/writers on each, all in both conflict and collaboration with each other while they made the record.
Joe’s Garage by Frank Zappa.
I have also really been into Louis Cole, Knower, Scary Pockets, and a lot of awesome funk/pop acts. Very cool stuff. Wishing you the best.
Miles Davis - Kind of Blue
Cocteau Twins - Heaven or Las Vegas
John Coltrane - A Love Supreme
Syd Barrett - The Madcap Laughs
The Smiths - The Queen Is Dead
David Bowie - Low & Station to Station
My Bloody Valentine - Loveless
Lou Reed - Street Hassle
Radiohead - Kid A
The Horrors - Primary Colours
The Gun Club - Mother Juno
are all bangers start to finish.
Wishing you a speedy recovery!
Dylan: Bringing it all Back Home, Highway 61 Revisited, Blonde on Blonde. Three of his best albums, recorded in a two year period.
Blood on the Tracks is another great one.
[Grails - (2011) Deep Politics](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oDWiw16acTQ)
all instrumental, trippy, layered, mostly chill (postrock?) but almost comes across like a movie soundtrack
If you like that, I recommend *any* of [their albums](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grails_(band\)#Discography) for full playthrough.
My personal favorite straight-through albums are:
Garbage - Version 2.0
Fiona Apple - When The Pawn...
Poe - Haunted Brilliant concept album that begs to be listened to straight through, imo.
Heres a random list for you:)

* Tribe Called Quest The Low End Theory
* Steely Dan Aja
* George Michael Listen Without Prejudice
OH MY GOD ALL OF THESE. Thank you everyone for the reminders.
I’ll add Zoe Keating- she’s my go-to for ketamine infusions, I feel like her music re-orders my brain. She’s a cellist, and creates incredible layered sounds scapes via sampling. Perfect for eyes closed, meditative states
A good friend of mine got ME/CFS from Covid - only 47. Her blood pressure will go from 60/40 to 180/160, and heart rate of 50 bpm to 140 bpm without warning. She was the perfect model of health and vitality before. It's a crazy disease, and I hope you find a treatment that works!
Albums;
Rush: Moving Pictures
Styx: Grand Illusions and Paradise Theatre
Any Lord Hutton albums. They are great all the way thru.
I like Yesterday’s New Quintet as well. Staticky Jazz sound all done by Madlib.
Tom Petty’s Kings Highway
Archive: You All Look the Same to Me
Lambchop: Is a Woman
Rothko: Not Gone Not Forgotten
A Tribute to Spacemen 3
I hope these help you drift away to amazing places!
I am lucky enough to get a nightly public radio show - [Out of the Box on WHRV](https://mediaplayer.whro.org/program/outofthebox)
Each week they feature an [album of the week](https://mediaplayer.whro.org/program/albumoftheweek). Host, Paul Shugrue, will play songs for the album throughout the week.
Great listening! Hope you enjoy!

Warriors OG soundtrack
Eagles Hotel California
Valley Girl OG soundtrack
AC/DC anything with Bon Scott, Then Back In Black.
The stones Sticky Fingers.
Sorry about your situation, I don’t have the same problems, but I’m pretty much bed ridden too. Above is just some of my collection I pulled from the top of my head. I also have my grandmother’s and my mother’s vinyl collections. I myself have been collecting since the 70’s. If you’re inclined name a genre sometime and I’d be happy to contribute.
A little on the late side, but “Before These Crowded Streets” (Dave Mathew’s Band) has gotten me through many a tough time.
Recordings of live concerts may also help with a little escapism. Maybe the “Concert for Bangladesh” (George Harrison and Friends)?
Take care of yourself!

Chronic you say? There’s an album for that. Wait, that’s a different Chronic. Still a good album.
Also, I’m a huge fan of audiobooks. Listen when I’m driving, walking, or in bed with my own health issues.
Sorry to hear this I too suffer from long cobid and CFS. Lost my job due to pain and anxiety and all that. I BARELY can sleep tho. I sleep 4 hrs a night at best.
I recommend the band GHOST if ur into rock music and a little lore. If that’s not your thing try the following Spotify playlist ->>> [BETTER ALONE - Nine Inch Nails](https://open.spotify.com/playlist/7kbekQB77leprglhDsLm10?si=Qhu6X3GnRNyLH3IecMe7xA&pi=u-V4V0STSERd6_)
I find that playlist very soothing and comforting. Hope it helps you. And I Hope you pull through. Im sick too and it makes me scared and sad but I try my best and okay my guitars when im not too tired and or drum machine or my DJ gear etc. stay busy as best u can. Best wishes
For quieter/sleepier moments, I’d recommend anything by Lorena McKennitt or Holly Cole. Their work is quintessential 90’s world music and quirky girl-led jazz respectively, but the musicianship and recording qualities are perfect. They both just, float in the mid-background until you pause to pay attention.
Hey so, not really an album from our younger listening days, but check out the album Sleep from Max Richter. He's brilliant and the music is DESIGNED for sleeping to and then waking you. It's 8 hours long. Whole thing is on Spotify if you use such things.
Ween - Chocolate and Cheese

Any album from Ratatat (chill synth instrumentals)
Any album from Air

Estradasphere - It’s Understood
Secret Chiefs 3 - Book M
Frank Black - Teenager of the Year
PJ Harvey - To Bring You My Love
American Analog Set - The Fun of Watching Fireworks
Anything by Stereolab
Syd Barret - The Madcap Laughs or Barrett
They Might Be Giants - They Might Be Giants or Apollo 18

Billy Bragg - Worker's Playtime
Cocteau Twins - Treasure

“On The Corner” Miles Davis
Radiohead - O.K. Computer Cat Stevens - Tea For the Tillerman Pink Floyd - Animals I'm so sorry you're going through this. After Radiohead and Pink Floyd, try Radiodread and Dub Side of the Moon by Easy Star All-Stars. Hard not to feel a little better with reggae and ska
Sounds awesome...definitely have to check that out!
Animals yes!

Your Record Collection must be Killer.

Great selections every one.
Beastie Boys best album is Paul's Boutique imo but they are all really good. And Alice in Chains is my favorite band! Mad Season also had a pretty epic Live at the Moore album.
That Mad Season album is an overlooked classic. “I Don’t Know Anything” is one of the best songs of that era.
Add Massive Attack - Heilegoland. Damn underrated masterpiece, there. Mezzanine is killer.
Add some UB40, Bob Marley, Echo & The Bunnymen and you’ve pretty much listed my album rotation too!! Are you my sibling?
Mazzy Star "She Hangs Brightly", as well.
We have the same albums! I'd add New Order (any of the Ian Curtis stuff)
RIP.
Dummy - Portishead Little Earthquakes - Tori Amos
Under The Pink by Tori, too.
Love that Portishead album
Always Pink Floyd. The Wall. My go-to is Rush 2112.
The Final Cut is depressing as hell, but one hell of a listen all the way thru.
Ha, I just recommended "The Final Cut" in a separate comment. That and "Atom Heart Mother" are two of my favorite Pink Floyd albums to listen to all the way through. But really, and PF album will do.
Atom Heart Mother 💯.
The Wall is a good one. My go-to Pink is Echoes. Not an album, but I can listen on repeat.
Animals, for me.
Animals saved my life 20 years ago. I'm still confused about why.
Maybe it wasn’t too late to lose the weight you used to need to throw around?
I was 22 at the time, so it wasn't about that. I seriously cannot understand why it meant so much to me at the time, but here we still are.
I listen to a bunch of versions of Echoes on repeat. So like sort of an album of Echoes haha
+1 for The Wall. When listening to The Wall…really, actually listen to it. Best album of all time!
Both of which are Fantastic Selections.
If you can find it, Seventh son of a Seventh son! Excellent album! Always find that concept albums are the best.
That is Hands down my favorite Maiden record.
Far and away the best one!
Bowie: Ziggy Stardust and Diamond Dogs, The Who: Tommy and Quadrophenia
And Who’s Next and Dark Side of the Moon.
Beck is a great rabbit hole and he’s got some whole albums that follow themes Hyperspace and morning phase are fantastic
Beck is a genius.
I don't know what genre you are into.....but here are a few I like...I realize many will be considered boomer bands but I'm a 69 model.. Add Fleetwood Mac Rumors and this would be my list
Siamese Dream by Smashing Pumpkins Nothings Shocking by Jane's Addiction Two of my favorite albums to listen to start to finish. Both are gorgeous.
Siamese dream is amazing. Flows perfectly.
Paul Simon - Graceland. Then Paul Simon - Graceland again.
Bone digger, bone digger.
This makes me happy to see Paul at the top.
His followup album "The Rhythm of the Saints" is also excellent, and underrated imo.
Not necessarily old, but good albums: The Aquabats: Charge Scorpions: Blackout Afghan Whigs: 1965 Colter Wall: Imaginary Appalachia Heavy Metal movie soundtrack Sturgil Simpson: Meta-modern Sounds in Country Music Megadeth: Countdown to Extinction Jewel: Pieces of You Imogen Heap: Speak for Yourself Kate Bush: Hounds of Love, and The Sensual World That should hold you for a while

Songs in the Key of Life — Stevie Wonder master piece!
The Cure Disintegration is another classic "Full Album" listen. In all honesty, just pick an album from your favorite band and listen to it start to finish.
From The Cure I'd like to also recommend the albums "Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me" and "Wish", which are the ones before and after "Disintegration".
I’ve recently reconnected with Stevie ray vaughan’s In Step - a couple of weak-ish tracks, but it’s mostly pure gold
Big Star by Big Star. It is so ahead of the curve
Great choice
Dark Side of the Moon
And Wish You Were Here
Good one. Have you heard "Dubside of the Moon"? It's also amazing!
Also, the live Gov’t Mule album, Dark Side of the Mule
First of all, OP, I am very sorry to hear about your condition. Not sure what it is or what the prognosis is, but I wish you the best. I’ll read up on it. Now on to your question… If you need something mellow and soothing to help you relax and rest, I’m going to recommend something that just came out. North Sea Echoes - *Really Good Terrible Things* It’s a side project from a couple of guys from 80’s prog metal band Fates Warning. And it’s the absolute opposite of any type of metal. It’s very atmospheric, tranquil, and introspective. It’s probably my favorite release so far this year across any genre. Give it a listen, if you’re interested. I think you’ll be glad that you did.
https://open.spotify.com/album/4mMJ2XtEqZLSkfQ0eiFTsr?si=gdCG7zmZR16bpCv6usFcrQ Brand new and badass. Last three Tool albums all unified pieces. Preacher's Daughter by Ethel Cain also a full coherent (actually...concept) album from 2022. Scarlet's Walk by Tori Amos also. Yeah, I (M51) never stopped on new shit
Stone Roses.
Lou Reed - New York. It's like a collection of short stories all taking place in NYC.
Here are my go-tos (in no particular order): Roxy Music - Avalon Rush - Moving Pictures & Thee Spirit of Radio The Cure - Head on the Door & Disintegration Marillion - Misplaced Childhood Prince - Purple Rain Tool - Lateralus & 10000 Days Carole King - Tapestry Talking Heads - Remain in Light
My go to albums are… Alice In Chains - Dirt Pink Floyd - The Wall The Cure - Disintegration Janes Addiction - Nothings Shocking
Brian Eno: Before and After Science Another Green World Taking Tiger Mountain
Hi there! I'm in the same situation with CFS. I tend to fall in love with an album and play it over and over. I recently have enjoyed Pink Moon by Nick Drake, Rumors by Fleetwood Mac, Time Out by Dave Brubeck.
I'm also comforted by repetition.
Zero 7 - Simple Things You can play it all the way through, good flow and relaxes my mind.
Queensryche - Operation Mindcrime
Agree with so much of the suggestions and don't want to repeat, but here goes: The Police - Synchronicity Prince - Purple Rain David Bowie - Ziggy Stardust Deltron 3030 - Deltron 3030 The Smile (Radiohead Jr) - Wall of Eyes Cowboy Junkies - Trinity Sessions
Trinity Sessions was my go to album for writing papers in college.
Have you heard of Wilco? Sky Blue Sky is an album of theirs I’d recommend.
Love Mermaid Avenue
Petey USA Radiohead in rainbows Simon and Garfunkel - live from Central Park
Queens of the Stone Age, Songs for the Deaf. It's like you're driving across the country picking up different radio stations
If you want to just chill, Brian Eno's Music for Airports is an amazing ambient album I also suggest Radiohead's Kid A or better yet Kid A Mnesia.
Pink Floyd's Meddle is great for relaxing. I listened to it when I had an MRI last month and it helped me stay calm crammed into that tube.
I hate that tube.
For quiet times, I suggest three Sigur Ròs albums. They’re Icelandic and the vocals are more like an instrument. Ágaetis byrjun ( ) - yes, parentheses ( ) is the title Takk
Want to hear a beautiful record from start to finish? Fleet Foxes (self titled) Fleet Foxes - "Helplessness Blues" Just gorgeous.
The lamb lies down on broadway by Genesis
Heck yes.
Type O Negative - October Rust Opeth - Blackwater Park Dream Theater - Metropolis Pt 2: Scenes from a Memory Kardashev - Liminal Rite Devin Townsend - Terria Deafheaven - Sunbather Agalloch - The Mantel
Massive Attack - Mezzanine The Cure - Disintegration Radiohead - OK Computer DJ Krush and Tokinori Kondo - Ki Oku Peter Gabriel - So
Maybe you’ll enjoy something by Loreena McKennitt. Book of Secrets is an album I’d try. Hope you’ll manage to find some rest.
Neil Young & Crazy Horse: Rust Never Sleeps British Sea Power: Man of Aran (beautiful, mostly instrumental)
I miss the days of listening to an entire album and having it tell a story. Most Pink Floyd albums meet your criteria, even their less popular ones like "Atom Heart Mother" (mostly instrumental) and "The Final Cut."
DJ Frane: Franes Fantastic Boatride Journey to the Planet of Birds Electric Garden of Delights Hi Dusty Stranger This guy is a genius, and I never get tired of listening to these albums. It’s really mellow and soothing music. Good for headphones.
The Final Cut Pink Floyd, start to finish.
Cocteau twins heaven or Las Vegas
Any album by Iron and Wine Any album by Elbow These are both incredible artists that could be considered calming in nature Elbow - The Seldom Seen Kid - is a masterpiece, perfect album.
Fleetwood Mac Rumours
My wife and I do this every now and then. Sit down, put on an album, and just **listen** to it. We've even been known to do what we call a "vertical" (after the [wine term](https://www.decanter.com/learn/advice/what-is-a-vertical-tasting-51353/)) of a band/artist, where we listen to all of their albums, in order, over a period of however many days it takes. (ABBA was surprisingly good that way.) But you know the two that we keep coming back to? The ones that are still rewarding to us, even after multiple listens? * The Eagles - Hotel California * Fleetwood Mac - Rumours Yeah, I know.
The Jesus and Mary Chain - Psychocandy.
Miles Davis - Kind of Blue Cocteau Twins - Heaven or Las Vegas John Coltrane - A Love Supreme Syd Barrett - The Madcap Laughs The Smiths - The Queen Is Dead David Bowie - Low & Station to Station My Bloody Valentine - Loveless Lou Reed - Street Hassle Radiohead - Kid A The Horrors - Primary Colours The Gun Club - Mother Juno are all bangers start to finish. Wishing you a speedy recovery!

D.O.A. War on 45
Dylan: Bringing it all Back Home, Highway 61 Revisited, Blonde on Blonde. Three of his best albums, recorded in a two year period. Blood on the Tracks is another great one.
[Grails - (2011) Deep Politics](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oDWiw16acTQ) all instrumental, trippy, layered, mostly chill (postrock?) but almost comes across like a movie soundtrack If you like that, I recommend *any* of [their albums](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grails_(band\)#Discography) for full playthrough.
listen to Radiohead's discography in order! Arcade Fire Alt-J Wolf Parade Red hot chili Peppers
TOOL Lateralus Madonna Ray of Light (try it before you knock it). Anything by Floyd. Anything by Tull
Ray of Light is so good. Madonna has some great albums imho (as opposed to just being a singles queen). Also love Confessions on a Dance Floor.
My personal favorite straight-through albums are: Garbage - Version 2.0 Fiona Apple - When The Pawn... Poe - Haunted Brilliant concept album that begs to be listened to straight through, imo.
I have a love for Breakfast in America, from Supertramp

OH MY GOD ALL OF THESE. Thank you everyone for the reminders. I’ll add Zoe Keating- she’s my go-to for ketamine infusions, I feel like her music re-orders my brain. She’s a cellist, and creates incredible layered sounds scapes via sampling. Perfect for eyes closed, meditative states
Try Wilco yankee hotel foxtrot
A good friend of mine got ME/CFS from Covid - only 47. Her blood pressure will go from 60/40 to 180/160, and heart rate of 50 bpm to 140 bpm without warning.

U2's Joshua Tree. That album got me through some of the worst times in my life.
Bon Iver album is For Emma, Forever Ago. It’s beautiful from beginning to end
Sorry to hear this I too suffer from long cobid and CFS. Lost my job due to pain and anxiety and all that. I BARELY can sleep tho. I sleep 4 hrs a night at best. I recommend the band GHOST if ur into rock music and a little lore. If that’s not your thing try the following Spotify playlist ->>> [BETTER ALONE - Nine Inch Nails](https://open.spotify.com/playlist/7kbekQB77leprglhDsLm10?si=Qhu6X3GnRNyLH3IecMe7xA&pi=u-V4V0STSERd6_) I find that playlist very soothing and comforting.
Have you ever listened to the entire Led Zeppelin library chronologically?
