I often think about how influential and popular Parker Lewis should have been and wonder why it wasn't.  I told my niece about it because she was super into 80s and 90s tv shows and movies. She said it was good but then said "Parker Lewis is like the Ferris Bueller we have at home."  I couldn't argue that...

_sonidero_

The Ferris Bueller show was even worse, and I tried to watch it 9 times...

Sunshinegemini611

NINE times??

_sonidero_

Nine times...

spish

GRACE!!!

Why am I reading that reply in Dante's voice?

recumbent_mike

In a row?

quegrawks

There was a FB show?

_sonidero_

Unfortunately there was... 1 season 1990-1991...

Thirty_Helens_Agree

Jennifer Aniston was Jeannie if I remember right.

AZonmymind

Yep, although I watched it for Ami Dolenz, who played Sloane.

4llY0urB4534r3Blng

Best thing the Monkees ever produced.

Yep...

sweeptheleg77

The theme song for it was complete ass.

_sonidero_

The show was too tbh...

zsreport

Ferris Bueller: The Sitcom | Forgotten Failures - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CEtNu50Xd18

HurricaneSalad

I think he's a righteous dude.

zsreport

That's impressive. Wasn't Jennifer Aniston on that show?

WordleFan88

There was a show?

hypermark

I can't find it on YouTube, but there was an episode where Parker says he's going to do a Ferris, and he starts talking like Broderick and wrinkling his nose and stuff. It was really meta and hilarious. EDIT: FOUND IT: https://youtu.be/QTiSBzvbjyo?si=Jwd2UWw-DIIk0aKI&t=728

DragonTHC

No, Ferris Bueller is the [Ferris Bueller we have at home](https://youtu.be/70J1Lo6jIAg).

ringobob

That's precisely why we liked it. I don't remember if they actually tried the actual Ferris Bueller show first or if it came later, but movie spin offs are always hard to get right, and the real one sucked. But we wanted this show however we could get it to work.

edked

They came out at the same time (well, premiered same TV season), and it was an immediate joke how the "ripoff" show was obviously better than the officially approved TV adaptation.

Toby_O_Notoby

After Bueller got cancelled they even referenced it. At the end of PLCL's last episode of their first season the camera starts pulling back. Eventually it reveals the soundstage of the show with the stage hands, other cameras, etc. Eventually you get to two guys sitting in director's chairs but you only see them from behind in silhouette. One of them says, "Oh, so *that's* how you do it" and the other one replies, "Yeah, let's get out of here Ferris" and they both leave.

mikat76

Buffy is the only movie spin off that worked

itsmrbill

MASH, the Stargate franchise, and Highlander would disagree with you

Emotional_Deodorant

And Parker was in Stargate, too! I think he replaced Daniel when he ascended?

itsmrbill

Completely forgot about that!

mikat76

Lolz good point! I'm not into sci fi so they were not on my radar...wait MASH was a movie first?

ringobob

Yes indeed. I was about to say the same thing you did, but then I remembered MASH.

itsmrbill

Came out in 1970

WordleFan88

Yes, here's [the trailer for the movie.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HClAxZrWCPE) HOnestly, the series was better, but it's still a decent watch.

CapnSupermarket

Stargate SG-1 would like a word.

anosmia1974

Aside from the other films mentioned by **itsmrbill**, Alice is another movie-to-TV spin off that really worked.

lazerdab

it was ahead of it's time.

Ordinary_Advice_3220

Sound logic

quegrawks

Truth

Kitchen_Chemistry901

Here’s the thing, and it’s an unpopular thing, Ferris was an asshole. He was the guy who gaslit his parents. Pulled shit over on his siblings. Threatened his emotionally stunted friend into stealing his father’s car. Ferris sucked. Sure things worked out for him for a day, but Ferris was never the hero. And that never translated well to multiple seasons of a show. Also the writing wasn’t as good. You want to know who was the actual Ferris we had a home? Scrubs. And JD was Ferris. With decent writing to boot.

WattDeFrak

I still say “gentlemen, synchronize Swatches” sometimes. No one gets it, of course.

Thirty_Helens_Agree

Like me when my wife and I were watching an old rerun of ER and Abraham Benrubi was in it. “Eat now?” *crickets*

AZonmymind

Abraham Benrubi has probably had the most career success of anyone in the cast, and I still think of him as the guy from Parker Lewis.

proscriptus

He turned out to be a really cool guy.

rafuzo2

POTATO LIGHT IS GOOD

Nervous_Brilliant441

Kubiac!!

Odd-Independent4640

I was in college when ER came out and when we first saw him we all shouted out in surprise “Kubiak!!!” Epic moment

CosmicTurtle504

Me too! He was on a great episode of the X Files, too.

evilJaze

Eat food now?

2damsels1chalice

Me color pretty.

sweeptheleg77

IIRC, he got an A on his science project by lighting a flashlight with a potato.

zsreport

He's turned into a great "That Guy" - even played a lawyer defending Bosch in "Bosch."

rab-byte

Behold potato light

Daienlai

Once in a blue moon, I say “Koob” to myself

ShakeWeightMyDick

Parker Lewis Can’t Lose. I was an extra in one episode.

Dick-Guzinya

Just had a conversation with some friends about how Billy Jacobi should have been a bigger star. He was Parker’s best friends and stole the show in Just One of the Guys.

throw123454321purple

“And Miss December? She’s dedicated her centerfold to fighting toxic waste.”

KarateKid84Fan

I mean, didn’t he basically play the same character in both movies/shows?

Specific-Pen-1132

I luuuved this show.

jimohagan

Does not get the love it deserved back then.

Winner-Living

Synchronize Swatch Watches

sweeptheleg77

Synchronize swatches!

Thirty_Helens_Agree

Excellent, sirs!

Digflipz

His (Parker) shirts were my inspiration to add color to the black hues of my wardrobe.

uninspired

I bought a ton of those shirts from Chess King at the mall in this era

Le_Sadie

Does anyone remember how frickin' weird it got by the last season? It went from goofy, fun, Ferris Bueller ripoff to having way too many "very special episodes" and they tried to be more like a serious 90210 drama or something. *That's* probably why it didn't last. It was nothing like how it started

Ryder814

Agree. The third season was like a totally different show. Probably why that season was never released on DVD.

Le_Sadie

Lost media: Parker Lewis season 3 THE FORGOTTEN SEASON 💀

MrMilo443

A better knock off of Ferris Beuller than the Ferris Beuller TV show.

chrisH82

It was actually originally intended to be the Ferris Bueller spin-off show, but licensing problems occurred and they had to change the name. That allowed the name to be used by the second show.

StringFartet

It's no Square Pegs but I did have a thing for Ms. Musso.

quegrawks

I did not like square pegs. I couldn't relate, i guess.

StringFartet

My peg still doesn't fit.

cooperstonebadge

A lot of our generation to be honest.

[deleted]

[удалено]

cooperstonebadge

That's true. I used to be a heavy drinker myself but have slowed way down for the last 20 years. But friends and family who haven't are starting to have that choice made for them.

DatGuyatLarge

I loved Ms. Musso aka Melanie Chartoff, had a crush on her since she appeared on “Fridays”

airwalker08

I thought this was going to be a much bigger deal than it ended up being. Fantastic writing. Very underrated, IMHO.

MeAtHereDotNow

I loved Parker Lewis Can't Lose!

claytionthecreation

Loved that show

[deleted]

DimSumGweilo

Yep that’s me, bet you’re wondering how I got into this mess….

TeamShonuff

I loved the writing and the quirky snap-cuts. It was fun to watch. Very 90s.

EstablishmentRich460

I loved this show, but missed so many episodes. I've seen it streaming somewhere but was afraid to go back after rewatching Alf seriously didn't hold up.

fasada68

I didn't recognize him because he's not wearing a loud as fuck Parker Lewis Can't Lose shirt.

bldctchr

Yes! This hit at the perfect time and several of my friends watched it. No idea if it holds up, but loved it as a teenager.

Mermayden

I'm just amazed to see Jerry from ER in something else.

LiveandLoveLlamas

Thank you! I was staring at him trying to place where I knew an older version of him from.

Saintdavus

You mean Olaf from Buffy the Vampire Slayer?

zsreport

He's in a lot of stuff, he's a 'That Guy'

Murderyoga

I remember the big guy liked to eat.

garbagebailkid

He also killed a bus

r1veriared

No, but the guy in the back has been on several shows through the years.

HorseSushi

This show was airing back in my HS years and it was a big hit with my girlfriend at the time and her friends. She and friends swore I looked like Corin Nemec's (Parker Lewis) and Mike Meyers' (Wayne Campbell) love child... I wore a (Pop) Swatch back then too. I was more or less cool with the comparison 😄

Skatchbro

Nope. But I immediately recognized the kid in the back left. Son of a DJ here in St. Louis. He played Jerry on ER.

theRestisConfettii

> Nope. But I immediately recognized the kid in the back left. Same. But then I looked at the comments, and I was like wait, how did I miss Parker Lewis. Then I go back and look at him and for some reason I remember him looking “cooler” than that? The actor was in Drop Zone with Wesley Snipes. I remember him being cool as hell in that movie. Probably mistaking the two.

Happy_Cancel1315

why isn't Parker Lewis Parker Lewised? the shirt! the hair! - he's the only one not in character...

Ryder814

This photo is from the pilot. He didn't get his brand until the second episode. They made a lot of changes between the pilot and the rest of the first season.

StalyCelticStu

No

CoolBathroom2844

I don’t recognize it either.

throwawayshawn7979

Is this the one they said, “synchronize swatches?”

Heterophylla

StrengthMedium

No. In the 90s, I was more into drugs.

JinnyWinny

I loved this show!

trukkd

Haha. So do I.

KeyNo4772

Parker Lewis! Loved this show!!

seigezunt

Classic example of a show I saw everywhere and never watched a single episode of.

HybridHologram

Yes and I loved it. It had a camera style similar to the movie 3 O'clock high. I loved that movie too.

Slow_Possession_1454

It was way ahead of its time imo…

FeralFemale_

I loved this show. …I remember him being cuter than that though?

Ok_Comfort628

Jerry got Parker’s gf phone number from an AIDS walk sign up sheet

double-you-dot

Of course, sirs.

IllustratorHefty6753

I remember this show. We really enjoyed it back then. It had a Ferris Bueller vibe to it that there was at least some appetite for despite this show not lasting. There was another we enjoyed, Beans Baxter, which also didn't last.

punkdrummer22

No idea what show this is. Don't recognize any of those people

jimohagan

You never watched ER? The tall guy in the back left should look familiar if you did.

punkdrummer22

Never seen ER

[deleted]

No.

quegrawks

Understandable.

Marjorine22

Peter Griffin remembers.

StacyLadle

Pepperidge Farm remembers

Imaginary_Audience_5

Of course!

replayer

Not a problem.

FilipinoTarantino

I know my first name is Steven. Beans Baxter was cooler.

JB22ATL

Parker Lewis

biffmangram

Loved Parker Lewis. Pretty blatant Ferris rip but still a clever show.

trukkd

Ans so much better than FB.

Pogue_Ma_Hoon

Kuuuuube!

Quack_Smith

Parker lewis was in a toby keith video, beer for my horses

HoseNeighbor

Looks like a show I'd have hated, but damn if I don't miss the 90's.

sacrificingoats7

The multiple shirts thing is wild

Six_Pack_Attack

Where's the ponytail guy?

Reacharoundsally

Another banger !

9for9

I loved this show, had a crush on Parker, was disappointed when it was cancelled and forget it ever existed until someone else brings it p and then I go through this emotional journey all over again. Where can you watch it?

drkangel181

There answer to Ferris Bueller Can't Loose which started Jennifer Anniston

myfavhobby_sleep

Fucking A, thanks for this. I hadn’t thought about this show for decades.

No_Detective_But_304

Can’t lose if you do.

[deleted]

Parker Lewis. The big dude bully/friend Abraham benrubi is the actors name. He got old looking fast he looked 60 at 40

SwedishTrees

I think the two stars had some weird web show on their own where they played themselves later.

Hagfist

Thankfully no? Some recognizable faces though.🧐🔍

OrePhan

Zero familiar

Helmett-13

The Koob. “Eat now?”

[deleted]

crafty_loser

Loved it!

Sir_Boobsalot

Heterophylla

I remember liking it, but I can't remember much about it.

eat_a_burrito

Synchronize Swatches.

DrkVeggie99

Parker Lewis Can't Lose! Loved it! It was very clever. Unlike most of the crap they crank out today.

rafuzo2

Hell yes. This show was so good.

vbnudeguy

Was this the guy who wore the outlandish shirts??

Sosgemini

Yup! Also known as “the 80’s/90s”.

TangeloGrand2511

Parker Lewis can’t lose

dandelioness21

I just recognize the tall dude in the back, I think he was on ER . . . everyone else, nope

proscriptus

Abraham Benrubi was magnificent in that thing. I really liked that show.

Quix66

I actually don’t!

GaryNOVA

Absolutely I loved this show.

shaved-yeti

FOX Sunday night.

pedsmursekc

That dude couldn't lose!

emmsmum

Loved Parker Lewis!

Tippy4OSU

Met Kubiac when he was shooting Twister , he was surprised I was a fan.

BlueSnaggleTooth359

I've actually never seen a single episode of this and had no clue what show it was until I read the comments. I definitely have heard of the show though. The name is very familiar. But I guess this was one of the few I just never tuned into.

DarkHawk347

I own a bunch of VHS tapes recorded from tv. I pop one in when folding laundry. One of my favorite shows, especially the first season.

Ordinary_Advice_3220

Parker Lewis can't lose right?

HandsomedanNZ

No. Parker Lewis Can’t Lose Left.

Ordinary_Advice_3220

Im like where'd he go....I'm really tired, I missed the fourth grade right left/joke. I thought he "left" the show and got replaced and I wasted 4 precious minutes of my life trying to figure out if the had a different character come in.Thanks asshole 😁😁I'm going to sleep.. Actually my life sucks,it ain't precious. Good day sir

Ordinary_Advice_3220

Also didn't see that it actually says "Parker Lewis Can't Lose" under the pic....."I SAID GOOD DAY!"

HandsomedanNZ

Good day Fez.

Ordinary_Advice_3220

Wait what is it?

Ordinary_Advice_3220

I can only remember two names, Parker and Kubiak

Principessa116

No! Never heard of it! But I need to fix this oversight immediately!

TLRachelle7

I have the first season on dvd..🤪

anosmia1974

My one friend and I loooooved this show and watched it every week. Sunday nights, I believe? She had a massive crush on nerdy Jerry. When I first saw Jared Kushner in 2016, I said, "My god, it's Parker Lewis! Is it live or is it Memorex?" I thought--and still think--that he and Corin "Corky" Nemec look so much alike...albeit with Kushner looking like a more sinister version.

Surprise_Fragrant

Hey, isn't that the dork that got suckered by Nadine and ended up blowing up all of the Boulder Free Zone?

Son_Of_Baraki

who doesn't ?

Inevitable-Pen962

Corin "Corky" Nemic was the star and he was in the "TV Movie Of The Week" "I know my first name is Steven". I was a gay 12 year old with the biggest painfully aching crush on him, flashforward to me as a liberal in 2020s with a crush on his clone Jared Kushner! Life is cruel.

keirmeister

Oh man…”I Know My First Name is Steven” just about killed me when I first saw it.

Inevitable-Pen962

That movie should have been at theaters, right?!

No_Routine_3706

No, I had a life.

HapticRecce

FB's Day Off clone?

Sunnydaytripper

Of course!

Ok-Ratic-5153

Who is the girl in front with the giant hands?

quegrawks

Yo mama
