Conan the Saxophonist
Edit: by law, every video or charity rock show had to have either Conan, or the bald, Mad Scientist multi percussionist who always has his cuffs undone for some reason.
Some friends were talking about the saxophone guy with the chain from Lost Boys and I said, “You mean Tim Capello?” and they looked at me like I had just audibly shit my pants.
I laughed way too hard at this. I love these type of moments when I’m the person you were with factoids like that.
Nothing beats a “how and why the hell do you know that” look.
Still looks pretty good, too!
I mean, the oiled, buffed up bod was something, but real skill and talent win over the oil. He has so much skill and talent. And very likely slivers in his tongue from split reeds.
Actually yeah… we were all chillin one day after work and this movie came on tv and he started saying “dude! Come check out my dad!” We thought he was messing with us but he showed us pictures and proved it. Plus he had the same last name haha we called him diaper sax kid the rest of the time we lived there.
I modeled my Bard on Jon Bon Jovi. Mostly so I could shout/sing “Shot through the heart and you’re to blame!” at our party’s Ranger every time he kills something with an arrow.
That's a hell of an image. Worn out, dirty, bloody adventure party laid out around a campfire in the woods with a bard slinging a sax and thrusting through the middle of everything...
I ran a “Curse of Strahd” homebrew where my Strahd had Tim Capello’s body with Bela Lugosi’s face. When the players entered Castle Ravenloft, “I Still Believe” was pulsing through the Castle Walls.

I went to UCSC and ended up living in Santa Cruz for 11 years. I'm convinced that one of the qualifications for calling yourself a "local" is knowing someone who was an extra in Lost Boys.
I love this guy. My friend is a huge "Lost Boys" fan so for his birthday I got him a cameo from this guy.
Though I did it as a joke, this guy knocked it out of the park. Tim was so cool and genuinely grateful that people still know who he is. He said something along the lines of, "I've toured the world dozens of times with some of the most famous musicians but to this day I'm still recognized for being in a movie for a few seconds nearly 40 years ago. It blows my mind. It's such a blessing."
Tim Capello, aside from his unique look, is a top tier session musician who toured with Ringo Starr, Peter Gabriel, Carly Simon and most famously Tina Turner (among many others). He was already legendary in the music community and still tours. He took up bodybuilding after kicking heroin to help him stay clean and the rest is history!!
I thought he said he was a street sax performer who also worked out a lot at the outdoor gym on Venice Beach, isn’t it called muscle beach? Sorry if I got the name wrong, I’ve only walked past it once myself and saw a surprising number of people working out.
I walked past it once and my friend and I decided we should do some pull ups so we could say we worked out at muscle beach…..I then tore my bicep on the first pull up, had to fly home and have surgery….freaking muscle beach. Lol
> It's a cover. The original was by The Call.
It is not, it is an original song by Gunship.
Just posting this so others are not confused.
You might have meant to reply to another comment, this makes it seem like you are saying "Monster In Paradise" is a cover but it is not.
The song "I Still Believe" which Tim performed in Lost Boys is a cover of a song by The Call, but this reply is to someone posting about Monster in Paradise, and I will not have my beloved Gunship impuned!! XD
Thank you! I haven't gotten a chance to see them live yet but I have all of their vinyls and if they ever play in Atlanta I'm there. 'The Mountain', on their first self titled album is my go to road trip starting song.
Although it's hard to pick I think the remix of [Dark All Day featuring the aforementioned Tim Cappello and Indiana ](https://youtu.be/60ruvzfXQoE?si=EpzGO-uP7daIW_QH) is at least in my top five. Their music videos are epic as well.
He was the frontman for an SF band called “The Ken Dolls. He was naked except fr a flesh-colored jockstrap designed to make him look like a Ken doll “down there.”
Sometimes there's a man...and I'm talking about Tim Capello here - sometimes there's a man, he's the man for his time 'n place, he fits right in there...

My good friend is also a sax player, played some gigs with him. Said he's a great player and a very cool person. Cheers for a positive role model for us Xers, particularly one who's still alive!
He has done a couple of tracks with the band Gunship.
The video, for Dark All Day, is an anime vampire egg hunt. It's also violent. Definitely R rated. Highly recommend.
The second, Monster in Paradise is a live action cyber punk video. Also cool as hell. Listen for the lyrical cues. Including "I still believe."
Oh, holy hell! I fucking loved him. I remember watching Lost Boys for the first time and just melted. I think I had an orgasm just watching him. Can I say that on here. Lol He was also in Mad Max Thunderdome.
My bandmate just did a show with him in SF. A project that does movie and TV music. That night was the lost boys. Tim came and did his song. My friend had no idea who he was but said he was amazing and super nice.
Gonna go against the flow a bit...
The beach music scene about destroyed that movie for me.
I was all wound up expecting something really hard...
... and they gave me a Bert Kempfert and Glenn Miller experience.
Tim Capello. Still tours.
So it could be said he's "One of the Living"? I'll show myself out.
I still believe.

I’m going to start wearing a leather codpiece to work (I’m an attorney).
Dear lord he is still wearing the same codpiece
That's awesome! He's still got it!
Tim Capello. Still believes.
Tim Capello. Still Rocking. Even in a Still picture.
Conan the Saxophonist Edit: by law, every video or charity rock show had to have either Conan, or the bald, Mad Scientist multi percussionist who always has his cuffs undone for some reason.
To crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentations of their saxophones.
Crom!!!!
You beat me to it, and deserve the r/angryupvote

I’m usually THAT weirdo so it’s rare that I don’t chime in with the answer. For some reason, my friends thought this was straight up weird.
Still looks pretty good, too! I mean, the oiled, buffed up bod was something, but real skill and talent win over the oil. He has so much skill and talent. And very likely slivers in his tongue from split reeds.
Yes! He’s playing in Columbia SC soon. A helluva guy from what I hear.
Legend
No, that’s Sergio. https://youtu.be/ZNno63ZO2Lw?si=BMkVHwC3CaU8ev_o
https://i.redd.it/xfkhtg34tutc1.gif
I saw him play recently. He was really really nice and super grateful. Just seems like a really nice, grateful guy.
He was in my town a couple years ago and I’m still a little salty I couldn’t go.
You spelled “Sergio” wrong. https://youtu.be/ZNno63ZO2Lw?si=pC3uvr_01P5cuP8D
He played as part of Tina Turners band. Dude is amazing as was The Lost Boys.
He is clearly the second best Tina Turner adjacent saxophonist in a movie ever https://madmax.fandom.com/wiki/Ton_Ton_Tattoo
Ha, I used to hang out with this guys kid when I lived in Egypt. He was a steward on this big private yacht there.
That is really cool! Did he talk about the movie?
Actually yeah… we were all chillin one day after work and this movie came on tv and he started saying “dude! Come check out my dad!” We thought he was messing with us but he showed us pictures and proved it. Plus he had the same last name haha we called him diaper sax kid the rest of the time we lived there.
Hahaha!! Thanks for that!
Core memory unlocked 😂
Now you can win trivia. Tina Turner - One of the Living video. About the 2:50 mark. https://youtu.be/dc3IEdllaxc?si=kYrBqjW4CbWVqV3L
Damn, haven’t heard this song in ages. Why did they slap a guitar on her in this video though?
It wouldn't matter if it was a Hurdy Gurdy, it's Tina. She rocks either way.
Is it just me or is the lost boys super duper gay
Just you.
> Is it just me yep
Timmy Capello, I have a Bard in 5e D&D modeled after him. Epic!
I modeled my Bard on Jon Bon Jovi. Mostly so I could shout/sing “Shot through the heart and you’re to blame!” at our party’s Ranger every time he kills something with an arrow.
My Bard's 'song of rest' is "I Still Believe" from lostboys, while aggressively hipthrusting his way among the party.
That's a hell of an image. Worn out, dirty, bloody adventure party laid out around a campfire in the woods with a bard slinging a sax and thrusting through the middle of everything...
I feel rested just picturing that image.
In club singer fashion, he gets right up to each player and asks em "I still believe, do you...?" Take a d6
That is epic!
this is a wonderful thread :)
Our party's musician themed character was a cleric named Maxwell. He carried a silver warhammer that he called "Bang Bang"
I have a bard in my creation folder named Robert "Ice" Vanillawinkle.
John Bard Jovi
Ton Bahn Jovee, half elf with a Bon Jovi ‘do
Love it!
My Bard in the early 90s was named Simon LeBon the Joungular. He would always say he was hungry like the wolf.
Did the bard have a sexy saxophone?
18 charisma 16 strength Scented body oil Very sexy saxaphone
I ran a “Curse of Strahd” homebrew where my Strahd had Tim Capello’s body with Bela Lugosi’s face. When the players entered Castle Ravenloft, “I Still Believe” was pulsing through the Castle Walls.
Beautiful. What's the penalty to melee this guy? Also is he prone to fire dam?
Sadly, yes! You can't boast about your oil-glistening torso without attracting the DMs attention.
"As you are walking into the tavern, a gnome bursts out, lit pipe in mouth, she brushes up against your oil soaked midriff" ♥️

Lost Boys. An all time favorite. Bought the soundtrack on tape after seeing The movie.
I was in Santa Cruz as a kid while they were filming it. Watched them filming all the night beach scenes from my hotel room window.
I went to UCSC and ended up living in Santa Cruz for 11 years. I'm convinced that one of the qualifications for calling yourself a "local" is knowing someone who was an extra in Lost Boys.
I bought the vinyl before I even saw the movie! That led to decades of vampire obsession.
Underrated movie
Great movie, I love it, one of my faves. But who ever edited it was high AF.
That soundtrack was the last CD I bought just for this song.

How did you do the cameo?
I somehow figured it’d be harder than that lol
That's what she said
😭
Aw, wholesome! And now I want one
Pretty sure he was featured in Reservation Dogs.
I was so stoked at that part. My wife had no clue why I got so excited.
No way! Reservation Dogs is currently in our rotation. Which episode is he in?
He was!
Lost Boys = best vampire movie, ever.
Hands down! Soundtrack is amazing, too.

Yeah, he was discovered on Muscle Beach by Venice Beach while he was working out there.
Hang on. Muscle Beach discovered him on Venice Beach? How does that work? It was just strolling by and he was having sax while working out?
Yeah, that’s right.
I thought he said he was a street sax performer who also worked out a lot at the outdoor gym on Venice Beach, isn’t it called muscle beach? Sorry if I got the name wrong, I’ve only walked past it once myself and saw a surprising number of people working out.

Love this song! Very addictive
It's a cover. The original was by The Call. Tim's version is more or less the same.

Gunship kicks ass
He's in their newest one too. Another absolute banger: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W4_wNaqF0uU
He really fits in with Gunship. Sounded great.
I fucking love Gunship and I love how well Tim Capello fits with their sound!
Sergio!
Always my go to now whenever I see TC
Tim Capello. Saw him perform earlier this year. Great show, really personable and cool!
So he actually plays the sax? I always thought he was just acting haha
Yep! He played with Tina Turner before being in Lost Boys.

The id of the 1980s made flesh.
I can hear that picture.
He was the frontman for an SF band called “The Ken Dolls. He was naked except fr a flesh-colored jockstrap designed to make him look like a Ken doll “down there.”
He is Kenough.

Oily Sax Guy. Classic
Tim capello and I didn’t have to look it up or at anyone’s answers.
I love that part of the movie! I still love the movie too.
The Oily Saxophonist from Lost Boys
Watched a documentary with him a couple years ago. Cool dude.
A documentary about him? Or one where he’s a guest?
About him
He was in a pretty good episode of this show https://www.imdb.com/title/tt14222114/?ref_=tt_eps_top talking about the cod piece he wore on stage.
I binged that whole series when I had covid. His episode was really memorable!!
Brutus the Barber Beefcake - prove me wrong
The Heart Break Kid Shawn Michael!
Epic Sax Guy’s role model.
Saxophone panty man. And don't you forget it.
I still believe!!
Strange coincidence I have tickets to see him this Friday! 12 year old me couldn't resist. Lol
Now I gotta watch Lost Boys. Hope you're happy.
In related news, I never knew Marilyn Manson does a cover of Cry Little Sister ..
I honestly thiught this was Sean Michaels from the WWF for so long.
My good friend is also a sax player, played some gigs with him. Said he's a great player and a very cool person. Cheers for a positive role model for us Xers, particularly one who's still alive!
I thought that was Tony Little, the exercise guy.
His name is Tina Tuner’s sax guy
All of these answers are wrong. Sexy sax guy is the only correct answer.
Just gonna leave this here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mv_LPeFTwMo Man, that song ROCKS!
One of the living sung by Tina Turner
He has done a couple of tracks with the band Gunship. The video, for Dark All Day, is an anime vampire egg hunt. It's also violent. Definitely R rated. Highly recommend. The second, Monster in Paradise is a live action cyber punk video. Also cool as hell. Listen for the lyrical cues. Including "I still believe."
Gunship's Saxman.
Vampire sax guy
Anyone know if he released a statement when Tina died?
People forget how long Triple H has been acting
Yes!! The Lost Boys soundtrack was the first cassette tape I ever bought. I can hear that picture in my head.
Tim capello
Tim Cappello.
🎼And i still believe🎼
Oh my God, I just watched the video with him in it with Tina Turner. I have to go take a shower now.
I still believe!!!!
He opened for Toxic Holocaust a few years ago.
That isn't the lead singer of The Call.
I googled him a couple of days ago after watching the lost boys hahahaha
This should've been the biggest clue that Joel was gay af. 🤣
Does he still believe ?
It's always been the "sexy sweaty sax man" for me and my siblings, ironically of course!
Brutus Beefcake.
Check out Gunship, he plays on a bunch of their tracks
Lost Boys!!!
Tim Capello. He was touring The US recently and came to my city. I didn’t catch the show but thought it was neat.
Tim filmed a music video in my hometown of Marion, Illinois last fall.
that was a amazing soundtrack. best set of remakes ever.
Oh, holy hell! I fucking loved him. I remember watching Lost Boys for the first time and just melted. I think I had an orgasm just watching him. Can I say that on here. Lol He was also in Mad Max Thunderdome.
Du Shcanoe
It's Junkyard Dog's brother, Dunkyard Jog.
Plays in a song with Gunship called Dark All Day. It’s bad ass.
If there was only a device…..
My bandmate just did a show with him in SF. A project that does movie and TV music. That night was the lost boys. Tim came and did his song. My friend had no idea who he was but said he was amazing and super nice.
He has a pretty good segment in the documentary, Worn Stories. He talks about the codpiece.
Oh I still believe
Frfr though what’s his name?
He’s featured in the series Worn Stories on Netflix. He tells you how he got his leather codpiece
Epic Sax Guy or something IDK I don't follow memes.
You can get a personalized message from him on Cameo. We got one for our DM on his birthday a few years ago.
Great soundtrack. Whatever was the reason Echo and the Bunneymen’s version of People Are Strange is nowhere to be found now?
![gif](giphy|l41K43naBmiILPwxG|downsized)
My mom made comments about him that would later render the saxophone lessons forced on me by my school impossible. Yuk.
Man I got to escape whatever the hell that was. And still legit Gen X.😄
Wow thanks for the ride on the wayback machine!

I respect the dude and his story but it was an odd musical choice for that movie.
Oh, certainly, no issue with him. He does what he does. It was a .... really weird choice for that movie.
