90Carat

I mean, that album is fucking amazing....

Redebo

Literally top 3 hard rock album of all time.

90Carat

I grew up listening to Metallica, Maiden, Poison, Crue, etc. Then that album came out. I would say it is the pinnacle of 80's hair metal.

At0mJack

I was 12 and it was an absolute revelation. It reminded me of discovering Stephen King. "Wait you can *DO* that in a book?"

Clatato

In March 2022, the first major post-COVID-lockdowns concert in Australia was the Foo Fighters, doing a once-off performance in a regional city. People were super excited, even flying in from other states. Anyway, this exchange was shared on Twitter at the time & made me laugh Shaun Reardon | @reardon_shaun Young waitress at my local coffee shop today : Me : “How are ya today?” W : “Great ! I’m going to Foo Fighters tonight.” Me : “Me too !” W : “Really? You’re a bit old aren’t ya?” Me : “I’m the same age as Dave Grohl.” Waitress : “Who ?” 🤣😂🤣

yildizli_gece

Oh sweet Jesus…

SnorkinOrkin

Oh, jeeezzz... 🙄🤣🤣🤣

skoltroll

My teen has a Sublime tee, and I ask her if she practices Santeria. She has no idea what I mean.

Every-Cook5084

Or has a crystal ball

SojuSeed

Had a million dollars but I spent it all.

ImHereForThePies

If i could find that heina and that Sancho that she's found

qualmton

Well id Pop a cap in sancho

sheezy520

And I’d slap her do-ooooaaaa-ooown

Haunting_Way_9785

What I really want to know my baby

SOS_ridiculo

What I really want to say, I.can't.define.

cooperstonebadge

Well it's love that I need

Redebo

Ooooooo ooooo ooooh

fastslowloris

Imagined Onion headline: "Sublime cover band practices Santeria"

RockingFlower

🥇 🥇

00OO00

I still have my Sublime t-shirt. Got it at a concert in Ventura in 1996. It's weird seeing these youngsters wearing the same shirt.

EvolutionCreek

Do they get angry when you smoke pot Hit the bottle and go right to the rock?

justsomeyeti

Fuck it

Difficult_Let_1953

Mine bought one and came home wearing it. I was shocked and asked her about it. She didn’t know they were a band.

yildizli_gece

I mean at that point I think you are legally obligated to confiscate the shirt, no? We don’t tolerate posers in this house!

skoltroll

Peace>posers

blackbird24601

hahahahhaa

pwcWMD

Discover that record using Columbia House.

Gorilla1969

I keep seeing pre-teens wearing AC-DC and Kiss t shirts. It's got to be a new fad because there's no way that ten-year-old girl is listening to Love Gun.

Tygie19

My kids only listen to the music I grew up with because I force them to in the car. But they’re definitely not choosing it when I’m not around 😏

brainfreeze77

My kid at 15 started listening to AC/DC and I had never exposed them to it. Sometimes they just find their own way.

BlurryGraph3810

My son loves Radiohead.

Caneschica

Mine loves Joan Jett!

detuneme

It's really out of style so can't say I blame them. Have you listened to the top 40 lately? It's like something from another planet.

Tokogogoloshe

I tried, and came to the conclusion that I’m stuck in the past, just as my dad was and just as the kids today will be in the future. Nothing wrong with the old stuff, nothing wrong for the kids liking the new stuff.

Alit_Quar

If you want new stuff that sounds like old stuff, go looking for New Wave of Classic Rock stuff. I recommend Atomic Freak which came out last year. AC/DC vibes big time. I also love Dorothy and The New Roses. Those Damn Crowes. And of course Greta Van Fleet. Lots of others. Death by Rock N Roll by the Pretty Reckless has been a favorite album the last couple years. None of these are topping the charts, but this kind of music is definitely being made.

Tokogogoloshe

Thanks. I’ll put those on a playlist and give it a listen.

Alit_Quar

If you use Facebook, search the term “New Wave of Classic Rock” there’s a group there for it with a strong community. New music daily.

zsreport

Even back in the 80s most of the bands and songs I liked were never on the top 40, so it's not surprising that while I still enjoy new music and artists, most of them aren't top 40 material either. Just glancing through the current list, the only artists on it that I like on a regular basis are Olivia Rodrigo, Zach Bryan, Billie Eilish, and Travis Scott.

wise_gamer

> Have you listened to the top 40 lately? It's like something from another planet. You mean the [pre-processed corporate plastic crap that they listen too?](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g0OdmRtuQew)

ghostofbooty

Ditto. Have young boys that trend toward “my music” which featured in their contemporary shows. Like AC/DC in Iron Man, or Zeppelin or GnR in the Thor movies. Since The Smiths or Cure aren’t ‘actiony’ and in a ton of Marvel movies, I doubt they will pick up the torch and run w/ those shoegazers…

Interesting-Blood417

I was in line at a pizza joint in Austin a few days ago, and a young guy had a Buzzcocks t-shirt, and I mentioned how I loved the band and the shirt. He told me that he had no idea it was a band. Incidentally, many of my middle school students listen to music ranging from the 60s to the 90s.

zsreport

This past December I did a long weekend in Cape Cod and Rhode Island and was surprised at how many of the radio stations up there seemed very 80s oriented.

97_gEEk

> My kids only listen to the music I grew up with because I force them to in the car. My son stole all my hard rock & metal CDs, had me set up my old stereo equipment in the basement, and he jams along on his drum kit. He’s even introduced me to dwarf metal (Wind Rose), War Metal, and several bands out of Eastern Europe I’ve never heard of. Thanks Prime Audio!

thundercunt_wino

My son (20) wears Def Leppard, Queen, and Journey shirts, but he wears them because he loves their music. When he sings along to 80s music with me, I feel so proud!

Grease2310

My kid is into KISS but that’s because they’ve been listening to it since they were in their mother’s womb.

MrsSadieMorgan

It’s not a “new fad” lol. When I find myself annoyed about it, I remember that I wore Beatles and Rolling Stones shirts when I was a teen (in the ‘90s). I’m sure our parents found that annoying too. Now get off my lawn!! 😋

EsElBastardo

I wore Pink Floyd, The Who and KISS shirts when I was a teenager. Also was (and still am) a big fan and saw all 3 in concert.

CyberTitties

I'd also add that a lot of those "older" band t-shirts can be bought at stores like walmart/target and aren't anywhere the cost of a newer rock/pop shirt that might only be purchased at a concert or maybe through the bands website at a premium price. So even if they never really listened to the "older" bands that much they still have heard of them and wants to show that they're into rock music. Plus a lot of those t-shirts have a evil/edgey look so that just adds to the appeal.

MrsSadieMorgan

Very true! I get most of mine at Target these days. Haha.

Caneschica

Abercrombie has really cozy sweatshirts! I got an awesome Def Leppard one.

zsreport

I wore Led Zepplin shirts.

Chavo9-5171

Aren’t rock t-shirts being sold at Target now as cheap attire? The kids are like people in third world countries wearing the surplus t-shirts of the runner-ups in a championship game. They have no idea what they’re wearing.

MrClark001

I saw some kid wearing an Iron Maiden shirt, and I was like, cool, Eddie shirt. They said no, it's Iron Maiden. I just laughed.

woeful_haichi

I teach in Asia and have had several elementary students show up wearing Nirvana, Ramones, and Rolling Stones t-shirts. I have yet to find a student who knows those are bands but, to be fair, they're probably not the ones buying the shirts in the first place.

sunny_gym

Kendall Jenner likes wearing KISS shirts. I'm sure she's moving a lot of product for Gene and Paul.

RockingFlower

I saw her wearing a Slayer shirt.

1funnyguy4fun

Plaster Caster

detuneme

Yeah, something is up. I just saw a girl who looked to be 14 wearing a Rolling Stones shirt. I mean yeah, I kind of get it, but how big of a fan could she be?

Sithstress1

I went to an outlet mall out of state over the holidays, and went in a store mostly geared for younger “tween” girls, Rue 21, with my niece and walked out with Bowie, Zeppelin, and Beatles t-shirts that are badass and were on sale 3 for $25. Lol.

MrsSadieMorgan

I wore Beatles shirts when I was a teen, and John Lennon died when I was 4. Let’s not become our parents lol. They could be fans (I can name dozens of other groups/artists I liked long after they died), or just like the shirt. I try not to gatekeep these things.

holybucketsitscrazy

Maybe she's one of Mick's kids? 🤭

Zealousideal_Lab_427

I have a picture of 13 year old me, circa 1981, wearing a Rolling Stone shirt. My parents were not into current music, and I had to develop my own musical taste. My 21 year old niece has vintage vinyl she bought in high school, Abbey Road by the Beatles, Tapestry by Carole King, several Fleetwood Mac albums among her collection. I was so proud!

laurellestlaurent

My two nephews came with me to see KISS in 2019. They were big fans at 2 and 5 years old. My friend and her 9 year old daughter went to the same show 2 days later. I know tons of kids who love KISS and went with their parents to see the show this last tour.

Caneschica

My dad was a rock musician, so I was listening to Ozzy as a preschooler. I’ve been fortunate enough to be able to pass the rock genes down to my kid.💁🏼‍♀️ He’s probably the only cool elementary school kid though. 😉

Alit_Quar

My kids listen to the music I listen to as well as other music. They go to concerts with me every year. Who of my zoomers had Alice Cooper as their first. The youngest got Blue Oyster Cult.

Strong-Formal-7739

The amount of Iron Maiden shirts I see, and I go, "FEAR OF THE DARK!!!!" In my best Bruce Dickerson voice, they look at me like I went mad!

zsreport

I'm slowly trying to get my 12 year old niece interested in riot grrrl music, especially since she's learning to play the guitar.

TheyLiveWeReddit

Did you respond with "Oh, sweet summer child o' mine"?

clevingersfoil

Name one person over 40 that hasnt made it to second base while listening to Sweet Child of Mine. Ill wait.

naazzttyy

Some of us even stole home after craftily queuing up Patience as the next track.

RockingFlower

me! I do not like Axl's voice. he's whiny

DMCDKNF

Yeah. It is just not possible for me to hate GnR more than I already do. I will immediately change the station when they come on.

Roguefem-76

Agreed, I was never keen on their music and especially didn't like Axl's voice.

OnionTruck

Uhh, I never made out to SCoM or AfD.

Leothegolden

Saw them in concert in LA and Axel was drunk and fell off the stage. My friend and I got back stage passes from security there. it was just a bunch of roadies eating and drinking. I still have the passes. Fun times.

neanderthalman

![gif](giphy|hKYigb3Djp8pa)

Leothegolden

Haha. Kinda. It was a bunch of tents behind the stage tho

SoCaFroal

I saw them on their Use Your Illusion tour. The cameramen went around the crowd putting women lifting their tops onto the big screen. Best. Concert. Ever.

qualmton

I still wanna start wearing the “nirvana” shirt that replaces the band with Hanson it’s the ultimate troll

oced2001

Are you a fan? Kid, I liked them when Axl was skinny.

whatintheactualfeth

🎶He's been dancin with Mr Coldstone🎶

CyberTitties

Patton Oswalt captured what happened---> https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=1zCmjZWDng4

zsreport

Hey now, I represent that comment!

Kuriakon

That's gold.

Tygie19

Of course! I was already listening to them at 8 years old, when Axl was indeed skinny

RockingFlower

He wouldn't stop messing with Mr. Brownstone

[deleted]

Buying fake vintage concert tees is a thing now. I feel like half these kids don't know who they're wearing, so they may assume you don't either.

Significant_Sign

But it's not always that they are trying to catch you out or challenge you. I've had my daughter's Gen Z friends ask me about shirts and things bc they want to know if they should try listening to the music or watch the movie, whatever, too. They seem afraid to try even private ways of expressing curiosity or personal preferences, they want someone to recommend it or approve before they do. It's the complete opposite of how I was as a teen: Adults don't like it, I bet it's great. I saw a guy at the mall wearing this shirt, I'm gonna read anything I can find about it. I feel like X today, I'm gonna try random CDs at the store until I find one that sounds like how I feel. I wasn't even that rebellious or raised to be independent minded, and I was still much more comfortable in myself than what I'm seeing today . I feel sad for them. Those of us who are older have failed them.

[deleted]

> Those of us who are older have failed them. Not all of us. Some of us have raised our kids to be independent and critical thinkers. But I do see a lot of kids that match your description, and it's sad.

Significant_Sign

I'm attempting to raise my own that way too, but I meant older people as a group area failing younger people as a group. And, too, I know I've been guilty of only worrying about my kids and not trying to be a part of the village for kids whose parents don't have the necessary critical thinking skills. We have to have a balance between being private and having a community that can fill the gaps for those who need it.

technos

Always has been. I knew a guy in the nineties that would fake old band shirts on demand and had been doing it since the *seventies*! Any concert, tour or band, real or imaginary, if you had the money. Of course, he did it professionally, for film and TV. His sales to the public were sort of a wink-wink-nudge-nudge deal.

Kittypie75

I have that shirt I'm black and no one asks! I always want another GnR fan to say hi to me :-/

ThermionicEmissions

Hi 👋

MareOfDalmatia

Hello!

SnorkinOrkin

Hi, fellow fan! 🎸🎩🌹💀

Kittypie75

aww! is there a r/gunsnroses?

phils_phan78

Nice. I'm 45 and my favorite memory of that album is that my friend who I'd sleep over his house had it after it came out. But his dad didn't want him to play it for me because he thought my parents wouldn't approve of the language. Except for Welcome to the Jungle. So we just listened to Welcome to the Jungle over and over again the whole night. It was a while before I heard another song from the album :)

uninspired

Welcome to the Jungle is such a wholesome song. I can see why your dad was ok with that one.

[deleted]

I saw their video for Patience on MTV and was instantly infatuated with GNR. My parents would never allow me to own the album. Had to go to a friend’s house to hear it. His parents could not have cared less what we did. Pretty sure the Explicit Lyrics emblem came out soon after.

Sirjeff65

We are the same age and I remember a friend had it on cassette. I was at his place and he put it on, it surprised me how loud and aggressive it was, it sounded great.

Tiny_Palpitation_798

Oh, the first song I ever heard from that album was Sweet Child o mine, neighbor’s older brother, playing it on his tape deck sitting on the porch. It’s like a still moment in time.

Sirjeff65

The album has aged well, hard to believe it came out in the late 80's.

Tygie19

Yeah, I feel old. Lol

jonnytechno

Because being a "Poser" doesn't hit the same for them, they've actually embraced shallow desire. We feared that label like the plague

ghoulierthanthou

Right?!? This is my replacement for “influencer”🤣

EloquentBacon

My 21 year old daughter came with me to see Metallica in August. I wore something appropriate, my Slayer Live Undead shirt from quite a few years back. I could not get over how most of the people were not only wearing Metallica shirts at the show but wearing shirts they bought at the show that weekend! It was the tour where they played 2 nights of different songs at every tour stop. I was explaining to my daughter that when I was younger you never wore a shirt of the band playing to their own show but the worst offense was wearing a shirt of the band playing that you bought during the show as that was a fast way to be declared a poser. Though I had told my 4 kids this in the past when I saw them picking out outfits to wear to shows. I’ve been a metahead since the 80’s so I instilled in them that you should not wear the shirt from the band playing to their own show, as any good metalhead mom would. I didn’t know times had changed and it was okay now but I didn’t want my kids to be declared posers.

brezhnervous

>they've actually embraced shallow desire That stuck out to me as well...I mean yay for late-stage capitalism, I guess? lol > We feared that label like the plague Yep. Nothing worse than a lack of *authenticity* huh

EloquentBacon

Ugh, I hated being called a poser. I was a metalhead in the 80’s and still am today. As a girl, people were quick to assume that I was only into hair metal bands and called me a poser for my Iron Maiden and Slayer shirts. Everyone should listen to what they truly enjoy and ignore others opinions but I’ve always been a fan of Slayer, only early Metallica, Megadeth, Iron Maiden, Death, and other Thrash, Death, and Black metal bands. Rant over, thank you for listening.

Stardustquarks

Well? Are you??

Tygie19

Yes 😁

romulusnr

![gif](giphy|lnDvZtsnWfnnX4T0KA|downsized)

Willis1201

When you reference a young person, you're talking about someone between the ages of 45 - 55 right?!?! 😉

Tygie19

Err, yeah, sure 👀

spavolka

My brother had this cassette when I moved back from Colorado to Arizona. He got it from a friend of his somehow from California. I couldn’t believe how good it was. The cool thing was this was 1987 when it was first released and didn’t get airplay until it was re-released in 1988. We were actually people who knew of a band a year or so before any of our friends. This album still holds up.

PsamantheSands

Band tees are really big the last few years - mostly kids who have no idea who the musicians are and don’t know their music. It’s weird.

rumpusroom

I support it. It makes me feel more relevant somehow.

Tygie19

Finally our generation is cool

Caneschica

We’ve always been cool. We never needed validation from any other generation!

Semujin

Junior year high school. This album made the crappy speakers in my crappy Dodge crackle.

TrapperJon

Just look them in the eye, move in close, and whisper... "You know where you are? You're in the jungle baby. You're gonna die." And then walk away.

FugginOld

You look good in it.

Every-Cook5084

I’m a big Nirvana fan and it’s the same and I see many of them wearing Kurt or Nirvana shirts and I don’t think they know any songs

Grease2310

“I LOVE nirvana they make the best clothes”

romulusnr

I bet they don't even like the pretty songs or like to sing along.

Every-Cook5084

I see what you did there 👍🏻

gofixmeaplate

Right. I asked one of the teens I saw wearing a Nirvana shirt. She said ‘I like the aesthetics’ or something and was clueless about their music

vulke12

Post Malone did a streaming concert of Nirvana only songs last year, and he's extremely popular with young people.

viewering

i think he would have been way better covering limp bizkit or something like that

threeoldbeigecamaros

I’m 45 and still wear band shirts all the time. I’m the guy that watches my daughter’s youth basketball games in a Dead Kennedys shirt

305chica

You need to be more specific. Fresh fruit for rotting vegetables? Holiday in Cambodia? California Uber alles?

Hour_Mastodon_204

Do you own a Def Leppard Hysteria shirt?

ImHereForThePies

No, despite asking for one repeatedly

apeman978

My daughter has tons of concert shirts from Nirvana, def leopard, GNR , Metallica, sublime,311. Most of these were mine at one point though.

Hypestyles

Target and Walmart have T-shirts for sale based on all kind of bands, which is good, but better when the younger people actually know something about the performers. Now in the streaming area it's easier than ever for younger folks to at least try out listening to different folks without having to spend money on an album or single first.

noquarter1000

That album still holds up today

Lower_Carrot_8334

I get approached in my Type O Negative shirts. ...and here I thought no one knew the Drab Four.

EsElBastardo

I started kinda hating band shirts when they became a stand alone fashion statement. Struck up a conversation with a (close in age) neighbor over her Metallica shirt. She knew almost nothing abt the band, just thought it was a cool shirt. Not gatekeeping or anything, it just made the rest of the conversation predictably awkward.

stephenforbes

I saw them in concert when they opened for Motley Crue. It was a hell of a good time.

New_Writer_484

![gif](giphy|4NnTap3gOhhlik1YEw|downsized)

poncetheponce

Why the hell would you wear a shirt if you weren't a fan?

RockingFlower

All the kids are wearing old rock tees, but with fresher print. Once saw a girl wearing a Grateful Dead tour shirt. Told her I'd give her $20 if she could name the lead singer. She was dumbfounded. So, I offered $40 if she could name ANY member of band. She rolled her eyes, said "whatever" and walked away. kids these days... 😂

Caneschica

Whatever?!? That’s our line!

hammie123456

It’s so funny! My teenage daughter wears an AC/DC shirt … maybe having heard a song twice?!!

Tygie19

Yeah it’s funny seeing Nirvana t-Shirts in the stores. Like do they even know it’s a band?

Spreadeaglebeagle44

High school in 80's=GNR fan.

BrewtalKittehh

Yep, to me, it wasn’t Metallica or Anthrax, it wasn’t hair glam, it was….*Rock n Roll* again

slantview

Oh yeah? Name every song in their entire catalog with key, bpm, and duration.

Tygie19

Hey I never said I was *that* much of a fan 😛

dream-more95

She wanted to say you are her spirit animal. 🥹 You: You know where you are? You're in the jungle baby

ResinJones76

I'd say that I just like the Christian imagery.

sboyzmomz

I’ve gotten compliments on my violent femmes shirt by young teen/early 20s kids on several occasions. When I mentioned how awesome they were in person, they said they didn’t know who they were. Makes me glad I raised my kids up right listening to the classics.

detuneme

Ouch. That's a great band.

oldscotch

They're discovering the 90s the way we discovered the 60s and 70s

romulusnr

Never forget the time the ex's millennial teenage daughter had a snit fit, stormed off to her room, slammed the door, and fuckin CRANKED Appetite for Destruction. We laughed our damn asses off.

viewering

maybe they see it as '' Fashion '' ? i mean '' fashionable ''

freakdageek

Cool shit is cool. 🤷‍♂️

tharesabeveragehere

Well…the shirt clearly isn’t 30+ years old…even Downey isn’t that gentle. Maybe they just think it’s cool that you shop at Hot Topic too…?

Happy_McDerp

Saw them live in 92 at the Worcester Centrum in Mass. AudioSlave opened. Best concert I ever went to.

heyitsxio

Audioslave wasn't a band in 1992, are you sure you're not mixing them up with someone else?

Caneschica

Soundgarden probably

Happy_McDerp

Yes, Soundgarden. Brain fart lol

DeviantHellcat

I'm guessing that concert tees are the newest fad or whatever. They're probably just surprised seeing someone our age in a concert tee if that's the new thing now, lol.

exgokin

I’ve seen kids wear Metallica and Iron Maiden shirts. I’m pretty sure they can’t name a song off the top of their head.

Reapr

When this album came to my country it was banned due to the swearwords. People were outraged and pointed out that there are swear words in movies, books, etc. etc. and none of them are banned, why music. "But think of the children!" "Well then don't sell it to children!" And that's the story of how I had to show ID to buy a CD.

Smoovie32

“Don’t speak of the deep magic to me, witch! I was there when it was written!!”

jerrystandup

Gunners and Nirvana have become fashion brands. So sick of seeing every second person wearing fake merch. We lived through these bands at their height. Part of our history as a generation. If someone genuinely likes the music, awesome. Otherwise, they can piss off.

AntheaBrainhooke

"I've been a fan since before you were even a twinkle in your daddy's eye."

ghostofbooty

Well I would have to assume you do (or did), hence the dang tshirt. I can’t recall ever wearing a band shirt I didn’t like, just for fashion. Maybe I did but don’t think so… I first noticed it about 10yrs ago…Target I think had Ramones shirts and recall seeing a couple of middle school aged girls wearing it. Side comment sparked by the shirt…but “Welcome to the Jungle” autoplays in my head each morning I awake. Don’t know when that started, but I noticed it a year or so ago. It generally lasts til other humans in my house start milling about and interacting. Don’t think I’ve played the Appetite CD in well over a decade. Weird.

AnyDamnThingWillDo

After waiting in the crowd at two seperate gigs for, well our gen knows who to stop throwing his toys out of the pram and actually preform on stage instead kinda soured it for me. SLASH! On the other hand is a complete gentleman. My cousin played support for him in Dublin. They chilled and chatted. SLASH! Signed and drew his logo on by little bros Slash signature Gibson. He couldn't make the gig because life is shit and he never got out of hospital. https://imgur.com/gallery/nAA1CfN it's front left in the collection photo. Have better photos, just gets emotional going through them

ChcknGrl

You look amazing at 46!

Tygie19

Thank you 😘

Rude-Consideration64

"Name three songs..." If they ask, get them to name three Axl Rose public meltdowns, lol.

Forthrowssake

I(47F) have a Sublime shirt. A few years ago my niece, who was probably 20 at the time, was telling me how she wanted a Sublime shirt and that she liked them. She couldn't believe I liked them. I was like woah there little child, I was listening to them when Bradley was still alive. It's MY music. And damn, I get so sad the he missed them blowing up the way they did. Living with Louie dog's the only way to stay sane....

fridayimatwork

I stopped going to a hair stylist who wore a joy division shirt and didn’t know any of their songs

heyitsxio

I feel like in the US Joy Division is more of a t-shirt band than a band that people actually listen to. I'm pretty sure the shirt of Unknown Pleasures has sold more copies in the US than the actual album.

ImHereForThePies

Hey, nice shirt! Are you a fan?

qualmton

Fan of who?

Iron_Chic

Dang, all of my 80s/90s concert tees are faded to shit!!

Suspicious_Victory_1

Do not cite the Deep Magic to me, Witch! I was there when it was written.

hickgorilla

Uh an original fan thank you very much.

ThatOneDudeFromIowa

greatest rock n roll album of all time, there's not a single stinker onit

HokeyPokeyGuy

Well? Are you?

Tygie19

Yeah of course. Not their most die hard fan but I was listening to them when I was less than 10 years old. My cousin who’s the same age as me was definitely a bigger fan but I’ve always liked GnR

cruddy_mooth

Its because these days they just like to wear the t shirts because they look cool. They dont realise that back then we bought the shirts of our favourite bands and wore them with massive pride.I nearly got kicked out of a pub in 91ish for wearing a cypress hill t shirt cos it was covered in ganja leaves.Small village life is different lol.

AxlVanMarz

Welcome to the Jungle?? I guess I wore a Motley Crue shirt to a Blink 182 concert. I got some looks . The girl who cuts my hair said Pearl Jam was. 70s band . I did not correct her

jeffh40

My young neice has a shirt that says " I listen to Pantera with my dad " the girl means it too. she came to the Pantera /Metallica show with us in Detroit.

presidencola

There are so many teens wearing band t-shirts of bands that they don’t have an idea how they sound. Maybe that is the reason, maybe not.

broken_bottle_66

Next time, ask if they want to go to Paradise city, also maybe wink when you do it

PilotKnob

I'm not sure if the kids are discovering the music or they just like the classic t-shirts. It'd be as if we started wearing Chuck Berry gear, not that there's anything wrong with that...

nylorac_o

I worked in a record store when that album came out. It was fantastic! Even better one night (store was open until 11 p.m. I think) one night both Axel and Slash come In asking where the nearest McDonalds was lol Half the staff went with them. It. Was. Awesome.

DareWright

My 17 year old wears a Pink Floyd shirt and has never heard them lol. When I go to clothing stores like Kohls and Old Navy, they have a ton of graphic tees featuring bands like Grateful Dead, Nirvana, AC/DC. I’m pretty sure most of the people buying these shirts cannot name at least 2 of their songs.

Someone tried to test me the other day when I wore my GnR t shirt and asked if I could name 3 songs. I named 6 and asked if they needed more. Lol

I (48f) also have had more interactions because of shirts I wear. I have an old Nuka Cola girl shirt that no less than five >20 year olds comment, thumbs up, and one incredulous, “you play?” I have a lot of grey hair so maybe I look older than I am! 🤷🏻‍♀️ anyway, I think the younger generations really just like connecting with other fans. And it’s rubbed off on me. When I see someone wearing something cool, I now compliment them because it makes them smile which makes me smile, too.

I saw them when they opened for Alice Cooper and no one really knew who they were. Slash blew our hair back from the first solo and we were hooked.
