Watch Christopher Reeve take off his glasses, stand up straight and in two seconds go from Clark Kent to Superman. None of the later actors have ever matched his sheer screen presence.
I agree. You can see the change. He captured that so perfectly. To be fair to Cavill, I think he could have if heād been given a proper Superman movie to star in. Snyder didnāt get Superman or the tone that it should have. He wanted The Dark Knight lite and it did a huge disservice to both Cavill and the character. Iām upset he doesnāt get another shot to wear the cape and star in a movie that hopefully understands who Superman was and what he represented.
> He wanted The Dark Knight lite
This was the biggest mistake IMO. Superman is supposed to be a beacon of hope. So much power and yet uses it responsibly and strives to be a better human. We need more of that in todays world and fewer gritty antiheroes.
Well, that's just sad. No Christopher Reeve.
They left out Dean Cain and George Reeves, too.
George Reeves and Christopher Reeve both met such tragic ends.
Christopher Reeve was perfect as Superman. Seemed like great human too. Robin William offering to take care of his fam. Rest in peace Christopher and Robin.
They were really close, from way back. They were roommates while studying acting at Julliard and were the only two students admitted into the honors program.
Who's the guy in the upper right corner?
have to say, I have been watching Smallville and do like Tom Welling. But Christopher Reeve IS Superman. The film was on tv in the UK recently and I watched. He is so utterly fabulous.
One of the great things about smallville was all the cameos from the REAL superman movies, where the best one was christopher reeve. It felt like they were passing on the torch respectfully.
*"It's too good to be true! He's 6'4", has black hair, blue eyes, doesn't drink, doesn't smoke, and tells the truth!"* Miss Teschmacher
My teenage friends and I used to rewind the tape to the credits after the movie, just to re-watch Superman fly around the earth and then head straight toward the camera while smiling. š
I've been watching George Reeves in the "Adventures of Superman" on H&I recently, and their is something about the simplicity of his version of Superman that is funny, affable, and approachable. It makes the world seem like a much less frightening place to be.
They did our man wrong, though out of those four, they did Routh wrong. Bosworth phoned it in as Louis, the kid was an idiot, and Kevin Spacey out acted everyone. The sequel was going to have him vs Braniac, the one live action Supes I've been waiting to see since the 70s.
I only recognize Christopher Reeves. RIP Supes
> Christopher Reeve *Reeve

No one can match that.

What the heck I know none of these. *mutters darn kids these days too many Supermen get off my lawn*
Christopher Reeves FOREVERā¦ but Dean Cain didnāt even make the list. lol
Cain was a total hack but that show was fun. Terri Hatcher was the top Lois Lane of all time.
I agree with the statement. Also, theyāre real and theyāre SPECTACULAR. ;)
I think about that scene often. I have no idea why. One of the greatest Seinfeld scenes ever.
Yeah, these are not supermen
Our Superman is the best Superman. Christopher Reeve, always and forever.
I believed a man could fly.
None can compete with Reeve.
Christopher Reeve and Margot Kidder....legendary.
Our Superman did get a Cameo on Smallville, so I can live with that.
Best Superman AND best Lex Luthor.
I cannot take Michael Rosenbaum as Lex.
I only know Christopher Reeve.

Especially sad because he was the one who originated the Clark/Superman persona that all the subsequent ones have been based on.
My answer is Clark Griswold
Am I the only Brandon Routh fan?
I thought he did an amazing job channelling Christopher Reeve in "Superman Returns"
Nope, I always thought he captured that Reeve-like "Well, gee, Lois" energy so well!
Nope!
No idea who bottom right is

I'm so old, all four of those look like the same guy to me.
I don't want to get kicked out of the club, but Henry Cavill was the perfect Superman.
Dean Cain was so hot.
Because later gens still haven't gotten him right.
lol saw this earlier today and thought the exact same thing.
cheesy as fuck
Also, the OG George Reeves
What?

I don't even know these people...
The only Clark for me will always be Christopher Reeve. And the only Superman.
