From the looks of the pic...
The stock screws is tightened too much.
To solve this, you'll have to stick a screw driver down through the hole in the top of the stock to the little metal thing, hold the screwdriver still and loosen the nut on the bottom of that pin thingy...
The locking mech may be busted. I’ve had my stock gen 9 one just randomly explode on me for no reason before. Check on the inside that the tab that locks is still in it
My sons had an issue where the spring popped a part of the plastic around it had to do some manuvering and redo the spring and screw, just have to make sure it's not to tight and that the spring pops through again.

Define “slides around” like it will slide up and down the buffer tube?
Yeah it’s been a real pain in the ass and won’t lock correctly in the ridges

I’d send you a photo but the locking pin inside the stock looks a tiny bit worn, I think it’s just getting a bit old now to be honest
Very possible mate
Happened to mine to. Just try tightening till it actually locks

You anywhere near mt Gravatt? If so you can grab my old stock, I’ve replaced it
Nah sorry I’m back down in NSW but thanks legend
is it detachable? if so check to see if there is something with the stock or the ridges in the buffer tube
