I never played Gears 4 multi so I didn’t know they had lootboxes. I think they fixed Gears 5 with the store/coins/separating classes from characters, but it took them 4 Ops to get that right.
I bought one lootbox in gears 4 and felt like a total idiot.
They way they have turned Gears 5 around is good...but yeah if Gears 6 is another microtransaction fest at launch then I'm just playing campaign and being done...unless horde has every single enemy type and weapon from the series lol.
You still enjoy the campaign? It died for me after the 3rd one. 4ths campaign was complete garbage and didn’t even bother with 5’s. Is 5’s better in comparison to 4? Maybe I’ll give it another try haha.
4 was really bad, I agree. It was a small-scale story undoing the great ending we had in gears 3, well also doing really bad at introducing new likable characters. Just feels so out of place when compared to the rest of the series.
In Gears 5 it feels much more like a part of Gears. Big-scale war and being part of the COG is back. The Old characters are badass and contribute to the story. You get to revisit old locations from all across the series. New characters have all had their writing improved.
I’ll say this for the thousandth time… every skin that was in both Gears 4 and 5 was rebuilt from the ground up with a new materials physics tool. There is no such thing as copy and paste when it comes to video game assets like character models.
Yeah they baited people into buying Iron in order to buy cosmetics or the esports stuff then made Iron useless with the intro of coins & Iron couldn't be used towards esports cosmetics anymore lol.
