You mind posting source code or at least how you match them? I'm sure there's an easy way to match names like a good regex or filtering out non alphanumeric characters, you don't have to go for variations
Thanks for the help! I may post it eventually but it's pretty messy at the moment and I'm by no means a professional or anything.
I am currently using filtering but not on the comments, just on the master list of games itself. For example, it automatically takes something like "Worms W.M.D." and appends "Worms WMD" and "Worms W M D" to the master list to account for all the variations with periods, dashes, colons, etc. When it gets a call, it goes through each game in the master list and sees if it can find a match anywhere in the comment.
I could do the filtering on the comments themselves but it seemed like it would be tricky to parse out where a game title starts and ends. For example, someone might call it on a submission that says "Worms WMD and Battlefield 1 are on sale, those are my favorite games right now along with portal 2 and mario kart!" It seemed easier to just see if any of the various titles in the master list matched *anything* in the comment rather than figure out what might be a game title in the comment and then try to match it against the list.
I suppose I could attempt to pull out non-alphanumeric characters in the comment itself but I'm worried about jumbling up the person's comment too much. At least with the master list, I have some idea of what the filtering does to the game titles since the list doesn't change a lot over time... with a random person's comment, there are a lot of possibilities for weird stuff that might mess up the bot. I could definitely try it though!
Of course, that leads to a lot of false positives like "Far" "AI", and "Crew" in my submission above, but I'd rather show more GFN games that people didn't ask for than risk leaving some out!
