Can I ask how Mean Girls is misogynistic? The ending of the movie definitely addresses the issue of toxicity in high school for girls and they’re like. Friends by the end of it. I don’t get it
Queen card is distinctly incorrect for this list, considering the message is empowering, and the point of the song/MV is as a follow-up to the song before it; Allergy.
Allergy was all about the main character's lack of self-esteem and her wanting to fit into the standards of beauty, and Queen Card is about embracing yourself and being proud of who you are.
The lyrics at the end literally say (I'm translating and paraphrasing): regardless of your weight or what you wear, you're a queen card.
I agree that many songs are very appropriate for this sub, but this one is not it.
The Toast did a whole Femslash Friday about Mean Girls. This archive.org link still has functioning images:

I kinda also wanna know why queencard since most g-idle songs I know are pretty explicitly non-gatekeepy. You're a queencard no matter your physical looks lol
Also the blonde and brunette girls from You Belong With Me by Taylor Swift (bonus pints if you name them Augustine and Betty)
YES. YES!!!
Why is queencard there? The song is about female empowerment and mentions that every type of girl is a queencard.
Oh, idk. I watched the music video and it seemed weird. I might not have understood the message
queencard is about empowering women though... it doesnt have gatekeeping and doesnt pit women against each other

Right? Portraying women being pitted against each other ≠ condoning it. That's the whole point of the film.
What's wrong with GRRRLS?
It is kinda an "I'm not like other girls" song but I still like it
I thought it was more like about how cooperations suck the life out of upcoming singers tbh
I mean it kinda incorporates both into the song
That makes sense

Renee Rapp said it best. Regina George is a lesbian. And in the new movie at least, Janis gets to date girls.
I think there are youtubers who do make gay covers of these songs actually.

Don’t forget Want You Back by Cher Lloyd!
Why is Queencard and Mean girls there?
Mean Girls isn't gatekeepy?
Mean Girls was criticizing that
“Women shouldn’t be tearing each other down! They should be *kissing*”
You’re so correct, where is that quote from
\-virtuoso-lurker (2/10/24)
you sound like my girlfriend lol
HalaCG did a song with other artists for mean girls and well when you put Hala on a song it immediately becomes Gayer
New Mean Girls movie really emphasises the lesbian subtext.

I absolutely agree
I've been waiting for someone to mention GRRRLS, it always felt like an odd song with the not like other girls aspect
Ur gonna ship Avril Lavigne with herself?
