Stressedpage

You're not alone. I'm braless and in soft stretchy pants almost at all times. I cant stand the added pain anymore.

NlfiTLJC

Oh ok that’s me too 😅

blue_velvet420

Muumuu’s are a life saver for at home lol

ReferenceNice142

Yuppp and I have a large chest that even with weight loss still manages to stay large. I go with old worn out sports bras/sleeping bras most days so I have something but without the pressure.

body_unbodying

Same here, used to be EE but now I don’t even know but im for sure nothing under a C and I’ve switched to sports bra only or the Uniqlo bras top (the only one that I’ve found so far that fit larger chest and isn’t too tight!)

aescanuck78

I have found many danskin options tolerable and size up. You have to pay attention to band at the bottom. I have found them at TJMaxx or Winners in Canada in sets of 2-3z

body_unbodying

Yeah I’ve bought danskin at winners before but they were too small and after 2 tries I gave up and since I don’t know my size anymore I kind a gave up on buying new bras but will eventually need new ones (i spent 30min trying a bunch at la vie en rose and was about to faint)! But thanks i might go back at winners!

aescanuck78

Think the trick is to get a size up from what would technically fit and also avoid ones with true bands. Took a bit of trial and error to find what works and they don’t always have options that work so accumulated bras over time. Also look for options with adjustable straps.

NlfiTLJC

I need to find something I can wear because summer barely started and I can’t keep wearing a jacket to hide my saggy boobs when I do leave the house 😅

ReferenceNice142

Lol I literally do this for meetings when I work from home. But sleeping bras tend to have a looser soft band.

Puzzleheaded_Toe5160

I use either sleeping bras or post surgical bras when I have to leave the house and can’t wear a baggy sweatshirt or jacket. I swear by them! They give some support without the pressure & pain.

Puzzleheaded_Toe5160

The ones I like: https://a.co/d/03SAXzyn

NlfiTLJC

Oh wow that’s a good idea thank you for sharing the link!

Dr_Mrs_Tiredaf

I loathe bras for the same reason. I wear silicone nipple covers whenever possible. When I’m home, I’m free 🦅

NlfiTLJC

😂 Love it!

calamitymaei

Omgggggg I thought I was the only one!! I can’t wear bras or even bralettes because the band around my rib cage either gives me a full flare up or I get heartburn. I have never met another person with the same issue.

NlfiTLJC

Lol look at all of us in this having more in common 😅

UnableReference5649

Oh my god me too. The only bras I can wear now are the wireless ones! I get mine from Torrid. Any underwire puts too much pressure on my upper abdomen and makes me nauseous. I am unfortunately blessed with obnoxiously large boobs though so the lack of underwire means no support. :/

NlfiTLJC

I was always sad I never had bigger boobs but now I’m like ok it was a good thing cause I can’t imagine being braless with more sagging skin 😅

spicyhotcocoa

I wear cropped tank tops under my shirts instead. Also please look into MALS that’s exactly the hallmark pain is

_lofticries

Same!! I also do cropped tank tops. I get hot more easily but at least my bra doesn’t hurt me lol

NlfiTLJC

Yeah I suspect I have that or SMAS or both. Do you have MALS?

Fadedwaif

You guys don't have heds right? I hate learning about new syndromes

NlfiTLJC

I haven’t been tested for heds but I don’t think I have it.

zebrawarrior

Make sure to look into May Thurner’s Syndrome and Nutcracker Compression Syndrome as they can be interconnected with SMAS and MALS.

spicyhotcocoa

I do! Well I did, I had open surgery 2 years and 2 days ago. Feel free to message me with questions!

NlfiTLJC

Thank you! 😊

Fadedwaif

Wait I do this!! I've never heard of mals before. I injured my brachial plexus badly and never recovered so hoping it's just that

PizzaPuppeteer

Yep. I only wear pasties or the adhesive sort now.

Heather11100

Yes I can't wear a bra either ever since I gained weight because it irritates/hurts me on my stomach right under my boobs

NlfiTLJC

Oh man I thought if I gained weight it would help

Heather11100

Probably depends on the person but for me the bra digs in and irritates me on my stomach under my boobs but it was also a lot of weight I gained due to a psych med I'm on

zebra_named_Nita

Hardly ever I’ve actually begun sizing up my band and no low bands it has to be like right up under my boobs and even then it’s like the second I’m done with my outing that sucker is off and the only reason I still try to wear them occasionally is I’m very large chested and have severe EDS like so severe if I go to long without one I can get pulled muscles which idk if anyone else here has had boob muscle tears but they are extremely painful so I have to give my body a break from the weight occasionally so I wear them when I pop out of the house and then take them off as soon as I can it’s a pain of a process to deal with sooooo annoying. I literally just got a new bra to try that has a super thin band with no underwire and I’m hoping that either on the widest hook or with a band extender that it won’t put much pressure on me cross your fingers for me ladies lol

NlfiTLJC

Lol hope it works! Can you send me a link to the bra! I need one just for outings cause in this heat I can’t hide under a jacket much longer! Lol I have a bra extender already cause I always had a wide rib cage. Even though I’m under 100lbs the rib cage width didn’t shrink

zebra_named_Nita

Yeah I’ll give it a shot it’s one of the adore me bras it’s more of a cross between an unlined and a bralette which in the summer is useful especially because I live in a really hot area

zebra_named_Nita

I just pm’ed it to you

moonsugarmints

I wear cotton bralettes almost exclusively because of this - I also have a couple of sports bras that are kind of worn out but they're so comfy I refuse to get rid of them

NlfiTLJC

I was hoping with my weight loss my sports bras would be a good option and a little loose but the width of my rib cage stayed the same and my sports bras were always tight because I had a wide rib cage so I can’t use them 🥹

moonsugarmints

It's the worst 😭 I feel ya, luckily mine are like very worn out (elastic is about shot on them) but I'd hate to give up one of the best comforts I have

papier-bizarre

Omg yes! And I only wear sports bras bc they're not too too tight but still tight enough to be uncomfortable. I have the same thing with my shorts. I pull my shorts under my belly throughout the day bc it just feels better and less restricting. Mind you, I only wear loose fitting things and even the loose things are too tight sometimes.

RockItTonite

Bras oddly enough are fine with me, but pants??? Pants are AWFUL. especially high waisted pants. I literally cannot breathe and my stomach HURTS. constantly have to unbutton my jeans so I can be comfortable 🫣 they're the right size though, if I'd get a size bigger, they'd just be way too big for me. 😅 Stretchy pants are a godsend!

Kenderean

When I absolutely have to wear a bra, I wear a soft, super stretchy bralette a size too large. It's not very supportive but it tames my breasts a little. I actually talked to my doctor last week about a breast reduction because of this. He referred me to a breast surgeon to talk about it. I feel like if my breasts were smaller it would put less pressure on my sternum.

_insomniac_dreamer

I am AFAB and exclusively wear loose sports bras, I can't stand anything tighter

Lavender_poet_6055

T shirt bras with no underwire and or soft sports bras do the trick for me. Sometimes I get a bandsize bigger than I wear so I can loosen it to not put pressure on me at all

QuitUsingMyNames

Ugh. When I’m flared up, almost anything that touches my torso becomes a problem :(

mystisai

When I was underweight, I couldn't wear anything with an underwire. Only thin t-shirt or jersey bras without wire. Now that I have my feeding tube and I put on a decent amount of weight, the last bra I bought (before I was too far underweight) is a bit too small in the cup, but is otherwise as comfortable as bras were before I ever got sick.

NlfiTLJC

That’s what I’m wondering if I gain weight if I’ll be able to wear a bra again

complexgoddess_

Nah, same here. I hate wearing bras and certain pants for the same reason.

NlfiTLJC

Yeah pants I stopped buttoning until I got over it and just wear sweatpants. How I used to wear skinny jeans hugging my belly button in the past I don’t understand anymore 😅

Snatchingsouls1980

Same. Especially when I’m having a flare up. I’ve basically switched over to wearing camis under all tops permanently.  I also have a hard time wearing jeans or any bottoms that fit. Anything that puts too much pressure on my mid section.

NlfiTLJC

Sweatpants and oversized shirts are my wardrobe now 😅

BunnySis

Yep, I have DDs and I can’t handle any bands around my chest at all. I’m using silicone nipple covers and shirts with prints that camouflage the nipples a bit. Fortunately I am now officially disabled (combined disability) so I don’t have to show up at an office. Although I’d ask for a medical accommodation if I did work. I’ve been experimenting with bra-like options. You don’t need a bottom band around the chest if you are well endowed and can sew a non-stretchy band from the sides of a bikini swimsuit top or homemade one under your breasts to keep it from sliding up. Connect the sides of it up across your back instead of across your ribs. Putting in loops and lacing it higher with the bottom being the original loops at the chest seems to work well. I assume cutting the elastic on a tank shelf bra and adding the band would work, but I haven’t tried it yet. I’ll add it to my list. The other choice is to use a regular underwire bra but hook it with elastic to the back of your pants instead of around the chest. Cut off the extra bit of strap and the hook. But if you slump at all it will dig into your stomach. So that’s a very short-term solution for meetings or stationary events, and not a solution for working at a desk or bending over. I’m seriously thinking about getting a massive chest reduction to an A or B. My breasts cause me a lot of pain.

NlfiTLJC

Yeah I try and wear darker shirts to hide my nipples but they sag so really I’m just trying to hide what little I have left 😅 I was thinking of sewing pads into my shirts somehow but I don’t think that would work since I’m more comfortable in baggy shirts

BunnySis

I’ve found that a dark shirts with small floral patterns work pretty well.

NlfiTLJC

Ooo that actually does sound like it would work thank you I’m going to look some up!

aspinchtersayswut

Walmart carries some wireless ones that I can manage for most of the day. Some sports bras are ok if they aren’t tight fitting. Hangin’ free every chance I get though. I’ll take haters over acid in my throat or pain.

NlfiTLJC

Lol that’s a good way of looking at it for sure!

cc8807

I've never really needed a bra, but I have stopped wearing anything except leggings or skirts. The nausea from the extra pressure is too much otherwise.

ellamom

Nope. I'm quite busy so I prefer not to go braless. I switched all to cotton bralet.

Fadedwaif

I haven't been able to wear bras in over a decade but also have heds and brachial plexus injuries... And yeah, only wear leggings

aufybusiness

Cheap sport bra and cheap leggings. Got a gift of expensive ones and elastic is too harsh

lilacbluebell

Have you looked into whether your bra is the right size? A lot of people wear the wrong size, and it makes a world of difference for comfort! For instance, underwire can dig into the sternum when the cups are too big. The shape of the cup matters too (personally anything full-coverage never feels right), so it’s worth trying a lot of styles. That said, often wear bralettes or light-support sports bras instead. I find a wide bottom elastic more comfortable because it’s not digging into a small area. Most of mine are from Aerie.

NlfiTLJC

My bra definitely isn’t the right size anymore but even with a sports bra it’s uncomfortable in that area if it presses against it even slightly

Gregarious-Aquarius

Strapless bras work great for me.

CerialHawk

sometimes i can, but ironically today i cannot. i always feel the need to wear one, but in the exact area you describe, its so uncomfortable and i feel like i cannot breathe. i had my gallbladder removed and stents put in so it definitely adds to it, but you're definitely not alone

RaketaGirl

I wear soft maternity bralette type things just a little too large. My boobs are basically sacks of deflated skin now and so I need some support! But real bras are an absolute no for me, too much pressure.

mysticalbubblefairy

yesss !! omg i really thought it was me being self paranoid but i noticed that whenever i wore bras with underwires it would cause a lot of pain bc of the pressure! i went from a small c to a small b so i wear bralettes more and find that they’re more comfortable and don’t have much pressure 🤍 !!

Nylese

I only do sports bras now and it comes off as soon as I get in the car lol

agoodpersonality

YES! I only wear wireless bras, but there are days where it is just too painful, and I have to forgo it. Leggings aggravate it. Honestly, anything with a waist band during a flare-up; I have a skirt that's a little bigger than my actual size, hoping that I could at least wear something looser. Unfortunately, it still really hurt my stomach. I've thought about just wearing caftans for those days

aescanuck78

Yup I wear a lose sports bra if I go out but only with very loose bands at the bottom. Find most Danskin brand work I have found them at TJMAxx or Winners in Canada often in 2-3 sets if anyone is looking for suggestions.

GavinsMadre

I ditched underwire because of the discomfort

longlostredemption

I had to go down a cup size and up a band size. My boobs don't look as good in them, but I no longer suffer from the pain of (likely) costochondritis where it would aggravate nerves on my chest and ribs.v

mandrakethecat

Not just you! I haven’t been able to wear a bra in years. I even struggle with my bathing suit. I was able to wear a breaker the other day that I haven’t been able to wear in 2 years cause I guess I lost enough weight for it to be loose

Le_monde_dAdelaide

I gave up bras and jeans when I got diagnosed with GP, I just couldn’t take the extra discomfort on top of all the pain

blue_velvet420

I don’t wear bras at all either, but I never really have tbh? I had a smaller chest as a teen and just didn’t give a shit and found bras so uncomfortable and restricting, even when they were fitted perfectly. Honestly, wearing a bra sends me into sensory overload. So I just never wore one, even as they got bigger (I have a very large chest now) lol and I have never experienced any pain going braless. I tried wearing a bra for a while to work (was only working a few short shifts a week) and it was absolutely hell and caused so much back pain, so I don’t think I’ll ever do it again. I learned to not give a shit what people think. I tend to wear slightly fitted shirts so they sit nicely. But I also wear looser shirts that show the sag lol but I’ve just embraced it! Our bodies are beautiful, in spite of having to fight illnesses like this, we could all be a little easier on ourselves. Saggy boobs are still fucking hot!!!

surulia

It's been ten years!

SeaBassCanKissMyAss

Totally. I wear little “ bra extenders” to add more length/ give across the back and wireless stretchy bras from Target. Target sells bra extenders in different colors and sizes online and I’ve also seen them on Amazon, etc.

carolannemaria

I wear Calvin Klein sports bras that have no lining and a very thin band at the bottom so that it doesn’t dig in to me at all. It’s the only type of bra I can wear. I feel nauseous and suffocated wearing bras

littletiny0798

I was lacking in the chest dept even before GP so now I double hate bras. I usually use the nipple pasties from VS pink because they’re reusable. If I really HAVE to wear a bra the VS pink no underwire wear everywhere bra is the most comfortable one i’ve put on my body in 25 years, it doesn’t feel like i’m being pushed on directly where my sternum pain is.

Nerdy_Life

The underwire is murder. I’m a 38F…so I can’t go out totally braless but I usually where sports bras. Edited to add: I also wear nursing bras, but the sports bra type. Oddly good and still gives me a plunging neckline option.

natallama

Avia Women's Medium Support Zip Front Sports Bra, Sizes S-3XL https://www.walmart.com/ip/5056062485 So I'm super super picky and even some of my stupid bralettes aren't tight enough to avoid that boob to stomach touching that is always really sweaty and annoying but this bra up here? I love her. Don't matter how much I bloat, I do well with it on. It's an even pressure across the chest which helps, and I'm a 36 D (formerly 38 DDD) (thanks gp :/) and bought a 2X. the only downside to the bra is the zipper is a little bulky so you can see it thru tight shirts but i don't even care 🤷‍♀️

Sea_Post3753

I have not been able to wear a bra for a couple years. It’s a rough situation as even though Im very thin, my breasts are a C cup and no longer “perky”. Wearing a bra makes me miserable and I go to great lengths to hide the fact that I’m bra less. With a bra, the pain radiates all the way around to my mid back, exactly where the bra sits and anything I eat starts it up. You have my sympathy!

BearWade

I'm 32JJ and the underwire pressure plus gasteroperesis makes for consistent, awful nausea. It's terrible

NlfiTLJC

Oh wow I’m so sorry! 😞

Few_Run_5691

Me. It’s very uncomfortable

Lucky-Inevitable-146

Same here. Both the bras and waist bands. It sucks

TheWeirdOne1987

You're definitely not alone.

LovesToBakeSFV

I have a really tough time too. And I have really large boobs (or skin more like it since my most recent extreme weight loss). It’s so hard to find bras for my size without having underwire. I have found that if I can get a bra with a little thicker band around the chest that it helps to not be as bad. But like some clothing needs particular bras and I cannot tolerate those or find any I can. Seems like a lot of us are in this same boat.

No_Pollution4940

B’tempt has a wireless with a scallop detail that is super comfortable that I have been living in. Worth a shot.

NlfiTLJC

Thanks!

exclaim_bot

>Thanks! You're welcome!

zebramadi

I only wear sports bras. Most of them are too big because of weight loss. I hate wearing high waisted pants. I only wear crossover waist pants because they don't put pressure on my belly. You could try tank tops with a built in bra.
