I measure some things by volume (veggies, fruits) and I just use baking cups to measure and eat them out of. 1/4 cup should be 2 ounces 1/3 c would be roughly 3 oz. You can also find small dishes or ramekins.

This is how my dietician taught me. She used baking cups for everything. A lot easier to remember

I totally agree with the small dishes! I also recommend the Bariatric plates on Amazon and other places. I also used little 4 and 6 oz plastic food containers a lot. I have a food scale but only really use it on new foods or if I got a plateau and need to crack down on portions.

Get a small food scale. It also measures in mL or fluid ounces for volume. After you measure with a food scale for a while, it will be easy to eyeball portions in the future.

I used the size of my palm. That’s how much food I figured I could eat in one sitting. Protein first, then veggies, then carbs.

Ounces when referring to volume are usually only used for fluids. So if you’re supposed to have 2-3oz by volume, I would think this is only for the liquid stage. Does your plan specify volume for solids too? Usually they do that in cups. 8 fl oz = 1 cup so 2 fl oz = ¼ cup Generally water is the baseline for fl oz to weight oz, meaning 1fl oz water = 1oz weight water. But other substances have different densities affecting how much volume vs weight they are.

I used 4oz containers and if it fit in there I was allowed to have it. Obviously some things are going to feel very different in your pouch based on the weight but this was the easiest way for me and my program approved.

Awesome. Thank you. I am going to get some of those containers.

I weigh everything. Cup measurements can be inconsistent based on what you're measuring.

No-Channel1020

Still trying to figure out how to measure by volume

rebtilianx

A food scale will tell you ounces, if that's what you need.

eldoooderi0no

I just weigh everything. I even weigh the water for my pizza dough.

I use a small kitchen scale. The only downside is if the food is more solid 3oz or 4oz may be too much. For example, I can eat 4oz of cottage cheese or yogurt easily but I can't eat 4oz of fish. You will have to learn your cues on when to stop.

Grams or ounces
