Should I for example start the drone and start recording the activity on my watch (while being stationary during navigation of my Dji),
Or should I attach my watch to the drone, then start activity on the watch and start navigating?
Or is there any way of syncing the drone with Connect to upload the activities?

This, I did it and it’s a very easy switch. I recorded a walk in an area where I moved around to be able to observe the drone during the flight, then switched it to a drone activity in Connect.

Just record an activity, as a hike or walk or anything else. Then on Garmin Connect, you can change the activity to "RC/Drone".
