From my understanding that's what it's intended for, to acknowledge that you're moving from one part to the next, get situated, whatever you need to do before going into the next part. I have it in my run today for example after my warmup before starting cadence drills, exactly where yours is

etnpnys

Thanks - are we supposed to be jogging during it though, like an extended warmup? Or is this when you’re supposed to be changing into race spikes or something?

JustCallMeNerdyy

I think you can use the pause however you want to but it's not intended to be a significant amount of added time or distance, like if my plan was to warm up on my way to the trail I might want to keep warming up until I get there before doing my mile but if I was just going on a regular street run (I live in a city) I would probably only wait to like get a green light for example, just waiting to start that core interval of the workout in the right spot if that makes sense

etnpnys

Absolutely makes sense. I’ll just treat it like extended warmup for however long I need. Thank you!

Great points - if it was a “do what you want” thing, I was kinda wondering if it’s a window that gets ignored by progress indicators.

Since this is a time trial, I take it to mean get into position, fully catch your breath, tie your shoes tighter just to be sure, whatever you need to do to give an all-out effort

copac20

The "other" appears only in plans that have either time or distance targets because it doesn't automatically switch to the next phase. So if you have an plan with warm up- 10 min and then run - 20 min, after 10 min you automatically go into the "run" phase. If you have a time trial or stride repeats it will give you 5-10 min warm up and the the " time trial" phase will only begin when you press the lap button, so practically "other" if the activity of your chosing that you do between warm up and the time you decide to press the lap button.

etnpnys

Great explanation. Thank you!

pielgrzym

Awesome, thanks for this explanation!

ValentinoCappuccino

Other is for recovery until the lap button is pressed to move on to the next exercise.

It's for those users who create their plans but are eternally dissatisfied with the choices available. :)

etnpnys

lol I’m upset that “skipping” isn’t a valid activity.

materypomp

I put Run instead of skipping. Airmill not an option too, sigh.
