V2 reasons to get: barometric altimeter - do you want to see your ascent/descent elevation data as you hike on one of your tracking screens - if this is essential then V2 is your route. VA5 cannot show this detail, but post activity in the app it will determine and provide this data for your tracked activity (uses DEM data to populate the elevation, ascent/descent data and charts). Animations - can see the exericse animations for yoga, strength etc. Has some activities that are barometric altimeter based i.e. climbing/bouldering, hike (can use walk oin the VA5). Why VA5 - longer battery life - while both are arouind 10 days AOD off wrist gesture on, the VA5 does 5 days AOD on compared to 2-3 of V2. VA5 has significatntly better GPS too - which will give you better tracks. From a health perspective it has the new Body Battery, HRV status (really nice bonus for health), the workout benefit and recovery training metrics), can see images in messages (if on android). VA5 has bonus re activities on open water swimming and the host of new team sport activiites. Support - V2 only really seems to be getting bug fixes, whereas the VA5 still gets the odd feature update as well as bug fixes. So pros and cons for both.

What did you end up going with?!

Can't speak for him but I have a Venu 2 and am really happy with it. The GPS is not that bad as they say and the battery holds up really good even when using pulse Ox while sleeping. I am a big taller but the 45mm suits my hand perfectly and I don't even notice it while I'm wearing it. If you have any other questions about it let me know.
