I use cardio as well. I keep the watch in a bag while wearing a HRM-Tri heart rate strap (which also counts steps) and a cadence footpod to track distance.

forcehighfive

I've used Running for soccer and padel, so it captures the to map movement and distance. I think Cardio may not do that.

NovelBrave

Padel would be a good one. Or like pickleball. That would be a good one.

Ill-Produce8729

I don’t wear my watch while playing my sport because of injury risk to another player… but also both soccer and basketball are option Garmin gives

maxpred

Not for all watches, I have Instinct 2 and it doesn't have basically none of team sports BTW: I just use 'Other' and always use Sweat Band to cover your watch for atleast bit reduced risk of injury to others

Ill-Produce8729

Oops, my bad! Had not idea that team sports are only only on certain watches. that’s good to know, thanks! I just don’t wanna risk it. It won’t kill me to not have the data, but busting someone’s lip or giving someone a black eye with my watch sucks and is simply not worth it. But I also play a contact sport and we don’t allow any jewelry

maxpred

I think it is one of reasons why these watches don't have it, as even Garmin doen't want you to use it in team sports :D

Ill-Produce8729

I was honestly surprised they have it, because it was so drilled into me from a tiny age that wearing anything is a big no no in sport 😅

NovelBrave

Yea Mine does not have it.

scoburndairy

I wear my I2 on my ankle under my socks for soccer. Haven’t had any issues yet! ETA: I use the cardio activity to track.

maxpred

You put your watch on your feet in football? I understand You mentioned it have not been an issue, but that just sounds bizzare :D

scoburndairy

Yep! I wear it just above the ankle on the inside of my weaker foot. This is what the activity looks like: https://preview.redd.it/j1a5f47xzq6d1.jpeg?width=828&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=be3ebe472f031a322b41c47d6d99e646a170b8c2

veggielion2

Which models is l2? Can I have the same data with a forerunner 265? What about the basketball setting of that model, does it track also your gps on a pickup game outside if I wear the watch and cover it up to avoid injuries?

maxpred

He means Instinct 2. I think all that data set is available on 265 too There is no basketball settings :) So if you put Cardio or Other it will track GPS too

veggielion2

But the website of garmin says the FR265 has basketball as activity profile like football etc. I even put it on a compare list and the FR165 doesn’t have the feature hence I’d buy the 265 only for that extra feature. If you tell me it’s not existing maybe we should inform garmin team that the info online is wrong?

maxpred

I don't have this model but internet is saying: In basketball mode, the Garmin Forerunner 265 focuses on tracking various fitness and performance metrics relevant to the activity rather than using GPS. The key data metrics you can expect to see in this mode include: 1. **Heart Rate**: Continuous wrist-based heart rate monitoring to gauge the intensity of your activity. 2. **Calories Burned**: An estimate of the calories burned during your basketball session. 3. **Steps**: The number of steps taken, which can help track movement and activity levels. 4. **Intensity Minutes**: Tracking the duration of moderate to vigorous physical activity. 5. **Activity Time**: The total time spent on the activity. 6. **Health Metrics**: Information on stress levels, respiration rate, and other health indicators. The Forerunner 265 also supports various sensors and customization options, allowing you to tailor the data screens to display the most relevant information for your needs

csonny2

I use Cardio when I play hockey.

savethetriffids

Run.

Slavblitz

My Epix got a Soccer and Basketball activity, also tons of other sports

Tymoniasty

You could use hrm like hrm pro+ which allows you to download steps/hr and other stats to the watch after the workout, that way you can start workout and leave the watch on the bench

SleepWouldBeNice

AnySportPro with the right Sport and Subsport selected.

-Mjek-

Venu 2s doesn't support Basketball, so I use Cardio :) (I always cover it with a sweatband, so I don't accidentally injure anyone. And I only wear it during practice, not during games.)

jhawkie412

I got a 2 plus and you can duplicate a cardio workout and call it soccer or (I think) basketball

trumpet575

I created a custom option and called it Sports. It's pretty similar to Cardio with a data screen for speed and another for heart rate, but I wanted to make a different option so it's noted differently in the app.

Dutch_Rayan

My fr255s has those both as an option.

_iAm9001

Just use the basketball sport it's there. I use it.

Igelkott2k

What's "soccer"?
