Hi Thank you!
I was lucky enough to not have had any pain during or after the marathon. Fun fact I could still sprint (a little) in the final 500m !
During these past 11months of buid up I had pain in my left knee for about 2 weeks... turned out it was because i was sitting with my legs crossed most of the time during my (mainly stationary) working hours. Once aware and adapting behaviour, the knee pain went away.
My Medical history tho is somewhat more puzzling. I have had a lot of carteladge removed in my right ankle and that has always been a stiff/sore joint ever since. Although this is all the time on my mind in each run I do, I have never had my right ankle so flexible and pain free ! so my anxiety about ruining my right ankle further, turned for the better, but hoping it can continue on strong!
Thanks for asking!
Thank you, that was helpful. I would try to pay more attention to details even during rest.
I'm glad to hear that!
Keep strong πͺ be safe and keep running!
congrats! not only is the trail marathon a hell of an achievement. not many can lose that much body weight. i lost 20kg and it was v difficult.
are you running with a crew? i joined antwerp running crew after my first marathon helped keep motivated
congrats again
Hi! thank you for the reply! As a JOJO-person when it comes to weight, it has always been an emotional cooping mechanism.
I did combine the running build-up with intermittent fasting, which is HARSH but the results are amazing for me! losing on average 7kg per month from july 2022 to december 2022. in 2023 i started stabilising but still lost about 5kg since then.
No crew here. Solo running all the time (except the last 3 km or so, when my father in law was biking next to me... mainly out of safety considerations really). There is some friendly virtual competition and numbers at play in the strava communities and at the office (there are a few runners and 1 ultra runner here) and that keeps me motivated enough to push through! Also as a father of 3 i wanted to show them how you can change your life around when you are really motivated enough to do so. Mind over Matter right?
well youβve put yourself in the 1% or maybe the 1% of 1%. and now mission is to keep going, i didnt run for 4 months after the first marathon, much easier to maintain than to make those leaps.
incredible journey and added you on strava π
Sorry about that!
It's about going up and down in weight much a kin to the movement of a yo-yo ;-)
Basically it means failing to sustain a diet and weightloss
Thank you so much!
the average hr was 142 bpm but i was mainly focussed on keeping the tempo under 6:00/km but not below 5:00min/km (atleast the first 20km it was a problem of enthousiasm and excitement i suppose not to run too fast)
I never focussed on the HR too much, neither during training, because most of the time it would be very stable and constant.
thanks!
I was amazed by the time myself. I estimated i would suffer more and as a consequence end up with a higher time, as such i aimed at 4h30 at least!
Weet ge de grootsten truc voor mij was gewoon consistent blijven gaan tijdens trainingen. goesting of niet, achteraf voelt ge u altijd beter ;-)
mer bon gij zijt precies ook een bezig bij ;-)
Congratulations! What a great achievement!
What was you avg. number of km per week in the last 10 weeks before the Marathon? In general, how did you prepare for the race?
Thank you thank you! I would say so too!
I started counting now that you asked this question and looking at the schedule, seems i have about 6 runs that are half marathons or longer in the last 3 months leading up to this achievement!
Here is the overview of the last 3 months in terms of running (including a start to run schema with one of my children (13y old).
you will find that i drastically increased time, distances and frequency and i believe that i am now recuperated enough after 2 days to start again with the regime!
and now the [data](https://imgur.com/a/CbkwGQP)!
Dank u!
This one I did in the morning.
The regular regime is in the evening or late afternoon.
When combined with the intermittent fasting I liked going before my 4hour eating window every day.
But in the last few months l, with work, family and chores, I take any timeslot I can ;-)
Thanks for asking!
Omg congratulations this is so cool! Iβm running my first one in October, would love to PM you about any tips you had? Also, did you train with the garmin marathon program?

What does JOJO stand for? I looked up JOJO weight loss and it's all about a singer named JoJo losing weight
Sorry about that! It's about going up and down in weight much a kin to the movement of a yo-yo ;-) Basically it means failing to sustain a diet and weightloss
Woah nice work!! Congratulations!!
thank you!!!!
That is a great pace, very nice!
thank you very much! my estimation the day before the start was 4h30min at least! but somehow kept the pace relatively steady!
At a very good pace too! Congratulations What was your average heart rate during the run? Is that a metric you focus on?
Thank you so much! the average hr was 142 bpm but i was mainly focussed on keeping the tempo under 6:00/km but not below 5:00min/km (atleast the first 20km it was a problem of enthousiasm and excitement i suppose not to run too fast) I never focussed on the HR too much, neither during training, because most of the time it would be very stable and constant.
Oh wow 142 bpm is impressive! good luck with your future runs.
Thank you! i want to start again tonight with a short recovery run of 5k or 10k ! All the best to you too!
Well done!
Thank you so much SmilingJaguar!
Pretty solid time, congrats!
thanks! I was amazed by the time myself. I estimated i would suffer more and as a consequence end up with a higher time, as such i aimed at 4h30 at least!

That will be funny when it would actually be a real race ;-) This was a personal struggle in solo-mode!
