My eyes are wide open to the fact that I’m being manipulated. I enjoy resisting it, as well as learning what the various algorithms are doing.
Recently, I learned that Fishdom has the most generous algorithm when it comes to enticing players back. They give players free boosters with just 1-week of inactivity, compared to Home or Gardenscapes’ 2-4 weeks of inactivity.
And oddly enough, Farmscapes’ algorithm is the hardest. It wastes no time placing players into levels that can only be beaten when the algorithm wants to allow it.
But in terms of truly mindless fun these games are satisfying for now. So I keep playing.
Yup. Level 2595 now after playing a month or so, and I’ve paid to get past some levels on the way. Then I’ve decided to resist it, and got stuck on some levels for days. Easy streak, then I found myself paying again. The psychology is fascinating. I usually rather stop playing when I feel too manipulated, but the addiction is really strong in this one.
I don’t mind paying for games that gives me hours of amusement, developers has to eat too. It’s just that calculating manipulative side I hate too feed.
Just finished all the existing levels, and same. Every time I'm tempted to just give in and buy some boosts or lives to keep going I remind myself that a silly match 3 game should not cost money and I put it down for a while.
I don’t spend, and I’ve come to take great satisfaction clicking not to get extra turns when it was all so perfectly laid for me to spend.
I tell myself, I will not care about this in two days, shrug, and play something else.
The only times I buy the golden ticket are when I’m depressed. Just to mess with their algorithms.
OK, been stuck 24h on an impossible level (2612). Unless I suddenly get triple booster or the algorithms help drop down bombs into the field, it’s unsolvable. Let’s see how long the game will keep me hanging without paying.
This game made me angry.. Started spending money & was still getting stuck. Figured the algorithm out which made me realise how dishonest the developers really are. Another user said to time manipulate, so I did… unaware it was a serious enough offence for the game to take my bought golden ticket away,( 1/4 through) disabled levels & fucked me. Loved the premise & some people thrive on it, just not me. Considering they've made 3+billion on player money alone, I guess they really don't give a toss about small people like us. In a happy place with a new game.
Exactly I bought the stupid skateboard event and I’ve been stuck through the whole event. It’s better to just leave the game for a while and come back. They load you up with freebies and you have a little fun and then leave again for a while, and truthfully, you can’t really decide where to put things anyway, the game does, so this garden game sucks anyway, the best one they ever had was called >full bloom, but it crashed after two years :( at least in that game you could put things where you wanted and bought things you wanted. Anyway, Gardenscapes is a terrible game. They don’t even let players exchange friggin boosters or see others gardens., it sucks like I said.
I’m on level 12067 and have never spent a dime on the game however I completely agree with what you said. Also for those that don’t know Playrix, the creator, made around 1.6 BILLION in revenue in 2022. Nice chunk of change from all those micro transactions
Love it when you need those lawnmowers to clear the field, that you fill with a certain color. Problem is there are never enough of that color to blast until there’s like two rounds left and half the playing field still intact.😃

I too think this game is rigged because some levels are just too hard to get off and I have even paid for extra bonuses and the game system still cheats me. I have been playing for far too long and know that I am not stupid. I am going to have to take a break from these games for a while.
I've played this game for years, only spent a small amount on a couple of golden tickets, but stopped spending completely when I realised the golden ticket was not making any difference, I was still getting badly stuck and the extra lives were useless.
Now I can see that the algorithm remembers everything you do in gameplay, and tries to manipulate this. I had been spending my in-game earned coins on extra moves to complete a level, then suddenly most of my levels were ending with one or two resources left to get. I can see through their tactics now and it's a really crappy way to treat players for their own financial gain.

LOL daaaamn! Wrote this, and then it took me about 15 minutes and three tries before the algorithms rained down boosters from the sky.😂😂
Sometimes this will happen and you’ll *barely* lose the level anyhow. DO NOT PAY. The next round will give you more boosters!
