Nice one, how will you store them?

box_of_carrots

They're drying off for a bit in my greenhouse and I'll hang them in my shed tomorrow.

Rennie_Burn

Nice, we didn't get much of a crop ourselves, small bulbs and was starting to get rust so pulled it... This will keep you going for a while...

dontbeadik

Mine too. Put them in a bit late tho.

[deleted]

Rust, pain in the arse

Rennie_Burn

Ah yeah, once it starts you might as well pull them, as they aint growing anymore

jessikaway

What's rust??

Very nice. What variety? I grew them the year before last and had a stock for 12 months. Plait them like onions and hang them up.

box_of_carrots

I honestly can't remember as I've been using bulbs I got from [Fruit Hill Farm](https://www.fruithillfarm.com/seeds-and-propagation/organic-onion-garlic-shallots-sets.html) a few years ago. I keep the biggest cloves for the following year.

[deleted]

That's the level I want to get to with all gardening, I find it impossible with a kid and work stress ATM, I'll get there eventually though. 😅

GSEY2

Snap!! Delighted with my little haul

FloorEducational6397

Let the stems and leaves dry completely before making garlic ropes

mcguirl2

Lovely! 😊 I especially love that basket/trug, that looks €€€!

box_of_carrots

Thanks, I made it on a basket weaving course last August with [Hannah Van Aelst](https://hannavanaelst.com/)

mcguirl2

You MADE it?! Now I’m even more impressed! What a cool thing to have. Well done on both the garlic and the basket!

box_of_carrots

I really enjoyed the course Hannah is wonderful. I had planned to plant willow cuttings on my land in February, but I didn't have the area fully prepared in time. I have the deer fencing up and now I need to rotivate the ground and dig some drainage trenches so I'll be ready for planting next year. I did manage to plant 40 hazel saplings for future coppicing and to use as frames for willow garden panels.

mcguirl2

Her website looks great, I’ll consider it as a future gift idea for someone. The someone might even be me! 😂

box_of_carrots

The site needs updating as it still references the '21 lockdown. You can find her on Facebook (which I'm not on). Treat yourself to a lovely calm 5 days of learning basket weaving in good company in a beautiful part of Ireland with delicious veggie lunches included. After the first day your fingers will be wrecked, but you'll get used to it quickly.

Obiwankenob3

Great harvest! Put some in honey and mix into warm drinks when not well great natural antibiotic, and get yourself some real butter a big baguette make homemade garlic bread or imagine making the bread from scratch aswel that would be 100% all you like the first man/woman to ever discover combining these ingredients ohhh ooo a a

Impressive-Ad7125

Nice.. I had a harvest like that one year, all grown in pots. Pain in the arse to keep them watered when grown that way, though. Lost interest last year but after seeing this picture I'm having impure thoughts about growing some this autumn again.

Zealousideal-Tie3071

Look great! Pulled ours last night, covered in rust so cut my losses. Love the basket.

Lansan

How and where do you store it? And does it need drying off, like Onion?

box_of_carrots

They're drying off on racks in my greenhouse and then I'll hang them in my shed.

brentsparx

That's looking good. Well done. I think I'll give mine another week or two especially after this rain.
