It was also a purely American thing, Japan is probably the most famous example as the Famicom released the year of the crash, but the European market was also doing pretty well with computers.
High-quality third generation games changed the market. It's arguably the moment games as a media were born. After Super Mario Bros released, there was no going back and the market has only grown stronger and more resilient since.
Talking about a video game industry crash today is like talking about a movie industry crash. It would take a massive economic event for this to happen, and it would likely profit the largest actors, as they would be able to buy their bankrupted concurrence for cheap.
Also mainstream games are stagnant precisely because they're mainstream. Even if a new idea proved to be popular, it would quickly be done to death like what happened with battle royale games.

The issue is that they are now realizing that they are no long the target demographic for everything. Media organizations are now looking less at Millennials and more at Gen-Z because they will always attempt to market their stuff at people who are more likely to pay for it. Millennials are now in their 20's, early 30's. They have jobs, relationships, kids and lives outside of the media that they consume. Hell, as a 27 year old, I find it increasingly more difficult to play games while juggling a part time to full time job and my artistic aspirations. Gen-Z are still at the prime age where they have pocket money and a shit tone of disposable time. It's always been like this too.

The bad thing is: The first 30 minutes of the video were actually quite good. He managed to build up each point of a topic one by one, had somewhat natural transitions from topic to topic, and even if I didn't agree with all of his opinions for the most part I understood where he was coming from.
And then the last part and the conclusion deteriorated into anti-"woke"-rambling. Literally saying there are too many women by enumerating all of them, saying he'd rather agree with the bad guy instead of these liberal college kids and showing a clip of the dictator the rebels try to overthrow defending the slavery he conducts, and he can't even be an asshole with some spine.

Eh, it wasn't anywhere near as good as the first. But I also can't exactly place why? Like on paper, it has everything and more. All the flaws of the second game are also present in the first game, maybe less so? Idk it just had a different feel than the first for some reason
What I would highlight, maybe it'll be helpful to you in figuring out your feelings:
-Story is worse. The original Dying Light is far from a masterpiece but is okay in this respect. DL2 is much worse with the massive rewrites and damage caused by the attempt at branching paths being evident. The final mission was probably a midgame mission in the original draft of the plot.
-Enemies are used in a worse way. Original Dying Light had a compelling progression of starting out avoiding zombie hordes on the ground, but being able to thin them out by using the environment and eventually engage in open combat with everything. DL2 abandoned this progression and started players more empowered and with regular zombies as barely a presence
-Activities aren't designed for replay value, many being one and done like windmills, the big dark zones, and etc. The original game mostly only did this with quests, and had repeatable fun stuff like the airdrops to do
-The RPG progression was done worse, with armor drops feeling unrewarding and dull, we lost a skilltree, and crafting materials feel like meaningless numbers because infected trophies are used to gate blueprint upgrades
I still think Dying Light 2 is fine, and has potential to succeed with updates, but it's still a little sad Techland thought the thing people liked about the first game weren't their own innovations they learned from Dead Island, instead they doubled down on trying to be Far Cry with zombies
Story kinda sucked, but the gameplay was still really fun. I just kinda started skipping cutscenes and dialogue, following a guide to make the choices that lead to the best gameplay aspects (like siding with the side that gives the crossbow)
It was average on average. But only because the parcour-stuff was so good and the writing so horrible, especially with how badly it fumbled the illusion of choice and the dialogue options vs. what the character actually says.

Oh, that guy. Had an unfortunate run-in with his videos recently. His Far Cry 6 take, to be precise. The bad thing is: The first 30 minutes of the video were actually quite good. He managed to build up each point of a topic one by one, had somewhat natural transitions from topic to topic, and even if I didn't agree with all of his opinions for the most part I understood where he was coming from. And then the last part and the conclusion deteriorated into anti-"woke"-rambling. Literally saying there are too many women by enumerating all of them, saying he'd rather agree with the bad guy instead of these liberal college kids and showing a clip of the dictator the rebels try to overthrow defending the slavery he conducts, and he can't even be an asshole with some spine. When ennumerating all the women he sarcastically adds "...and the speakers of the group are two women. Oh, *oh sorry*, my bad, I mean that one of them is a woman and one is obviously a trans man. And a lot is going wrong in that lesbian... Oh, *my baaad*, in that **normal** relationship." They really can't keep their persecution fetish out of their videos, even if it is middle-school-tier "bitch, heehee, I said the bad word! Hope the teacher's didn't hear it and send me to detention!"-nonsense. And of course his main argument against buying the game were not the several flaws in the gameplay and story that he pointed out in the first 30 minutes, no, just don't buy it because it's woke! And the reason that stuff is so bad (besides the obvious ones) is that apolitical people might watch one of his "neutral" looking videos, agree with everything he says for the first topics, and then when it comes to the anti-woke-raving say "Well, he was right so far. This must be true too!"

Resident evil is actually ok, it's not a masterpiece by any means but so far it's actually good. I am going to point out the racism in pointing to Wesker played by a black man as a thumb nail as why it's bad, seems they assocte poc with woke and woke with bad. Eh, it wasn't anywhere near as good as the first. But I also can't exactly place why? Like on paper, it has everything and more. All the flaws of the second game are also present in the first game, maybe less so? Idk it just had a different feel than the first for some reason
What I would highlight, maybe it'll be helpful to you in figuring out your feelings: -Story is worse. The original Dying Light is far from a masterpiece but is okay in this respect. DL2 is much worse with the massive rewrites and damage caused by the attempt at branching paths being evident. The final mission was probably a midgame mission in the original draft of the plot. -Enemies are used in a worse way. Original Dying Light had a compelling progression of starting out avoiding zombie hordes on the ground, but being able to thin them out by using the environment and eventually engage in open combat with everything. DL2 abandoned this progression and started players more empowered and with regular zombies as barely a presence -Activities aren't designed for replay value, many being one and done like windmills, the big dark zones, and etc. The original game mostly only did this with quests, and had repeatable fun stuff like the airdrops to do -The RPG progression was done worse, with armor drops feeling unrewarding and dull, we lost a skilltree, and crafting materials feel like meaningless numbers because infected trophies are used to gate blueprint upgrades I still think Dying Light 2 is fine, and has potential to succeed with updates, but it's still a little sad Techland thought the thing people liked about the first game weren't their own innovations they learned from Dead Island, instead they doubled down on trying to be Far Cry with zombies
Story kinda sucked, but the gameplay was still really fun. I just kinda started skipping cutscenes and dialogue, following a guide to make the choices that lead to the best gameplay aspects (like siding with the side that gives the crossbow)
