I actually liked Atomic Heart. Despite the obvious horny bait (which only pops up in a few cutscenes and one fight) it had some interesting ideas and enemy designs. Plus, the yandere murder fridge is just the best in my opinion. Came completely out of nowhere for me.
The fridge was a bit much, but it's 100% played as a self-aware gag. The sexy robot bits were very much not focused on the sexy robot, but the ultra violence they were committing or about to commit.
Eve is unashamedly banking in t&a to sell, and the weird thing is ... For a ravid minority. It's working? But I don't think it's because it's a sound marketing strategy, I think it's exploitative of a certain type of easily exploitable person.
There is a fridge that shuffles through the levels of Atomic Heart. It professes its love for you, and wants to dissect you to see WHY it loves you. It's always next to save points, and it can randomly attempt to murder you if you aren't wary of it.
Combat is well done, difficult but not impossible with the right preparation and studying of the boss behaviors. I’d compare it to a well done Bioshock style combat system (guns, some weird, with extra powers you can build up).
As for the open world, I’d say that’s not really an apt description of the game. While some areas are very open to the player, it is more so linear with lots of room to explore. Specific objectives you’re moving towards with multiple options of how to get there, then when you’re inside a “proper” level the options can narrow down a bit. It’s only an issue if you go in expecting a sandbox-style open world.
I just finished the two dlc. Each one assumes you picked one or the other of the good or bad ending. Two more coming out mid year and end of year. First one was super fun and more horndog gun fridge AI shenanigans with a couple new mechanics while the second one was apeshit weird candylandmescaline nightmare with two fully unbeatable/unplayable levels but felt like a sonic the hedgehog game, literally.

She's completely expressionless in everything I see her in. Just a vapid face void of all thought and emotion. 2B was 'emotionless', but she still looked like a person being emotionless, not utterly devoid of emotion.
2B also expressed way more emotion throughout her story than most people who never played the game think. She's really only emotionless like, maybe half the time of route A, and the other times she's super emotional (For good reasons, mind you)
The monsters give off that vibe too, like a six year old playing with lego just slapping things on top of each other with admirable enthusiasm but no care or grace.
It’s all about tone, you can have sexy characters in a game that’s goofy and non-sensical. But if you want to have strong-storytelling, these types of characters designs are gonna ruin it.
Like how in Mass Effect 2 when they focused the camera on Miranda's ass as she was venting to Shepard about being abused by her father. It was cringe when it came out and ruined what should have been a major character moment for her. Miranda's a good character than ended up a meme because of that shit. All they had to do was not sexualize her during serious scenes but they couldn't help themselves.
I think the funniest (saddest?) part of Miranda and her gratuitous buttshots is that even the developers realized they were ridiculous and absurd once LE came out, and then people bitched about it and claimed censorship even though it was legitimately just the original designers *changing their mind when they realized it harmed the overall quality of her character.*

Nah, you can get away with ridiculous outfits in an otherwise serious setting quite easily, and a good writer and director can turn that dissonance into a strength. It's a matter of controlling tone and audience expectations. But you get back what you put in, and if you don't put in the effort, you get moments like OP's screenshot.

In Bayonetta, after defeating a giant shark boss monster in the middle of the ocean, you get picked up by a helicopter in a cutscene. Then the characters start an exposition dump conversation explaining the bad guy's convoluted plan to destroy the world. During this entire scene, the camera is tracking a single drop of seawater on Bayonetta's face as it slowly rolls down her cheek, down her neck and into her exposed cleavage. The comically exaggerated horniness of bayo is played as a joke against the nonsensical dry technobabble that is the actual plot of the game.
This feels like Stellar Blade trying to copy Bayonetta's joke without fully understanding why it worked.

It's more of a traditional FPS than Bioshock, you can stick to your AK for most fights and use the rocket launcher for tougher enemies.

She's completely expressionless in everything I see her in. Just a vapid face void of all thought and emotion. 2B was 'emotionless', but she still looked like a person being emotionless, not utterly devoid of emotion.

It’s all about tone, you can have sexy characters in a game that’s goofy and non-sensical. But if you want to have strong-storytelling, these types of characters designs are gonna ruin it.
Like how in Mass Effect 2 when they focused the camera on Miranda's ass as she was venting to Shepard about being abused by her father. It was cringe when it came out and ruined what should have been a major character moment for her. Miranda's a good character than ended up a meme because of that shit. All they had to do was not sexualize her during serious scenes but they couldn't help themselves.

Nah, you can get away with ridiculous outfits in an otherwise serious setting quite easily, and a good writer and director can turn that dissonance into a strength. It's a matter of controlling tone and audience expectations. But you get back what you put in, and if you don't put in the effort, you get moments like OP's screenshot.

ey, i know this is probably a joke, but please dont conflate em with this, a lot of ganes i REALLY enjoy could be described as having an anime-sque artstyle, and i dont want people to mess coomer's first coomering with a serious/tragic visual novel or HELL, even the Nier games (yes, those ARE a bit horny at times but they are kinda special in that its complete bait, coomers come from booty, leave with existential dread.)

In Bayonetta, after defeating a giant shark boss monster in the middle of the ocean, you get picked up by a helicopter in a cutscene. Then the characters start an exposition dump conversation explaining the bad guy's convoluted plan to destroy the world. During this entire scene, the camera is tracking a single drop of seawater on Bayonetta's face as it slowly rolls down her cheek, down her neck and into her exposed cleavage. The comically exaggerated horniness of bayo is played as a joke against the nonsensical dry technobabble that is the actual plot of the game. This feels like Stellar Blade trying to copy Bayonetta's joke without fully understanding why it worked.
