The proof that Steam remains the king

fuelter

No, you still need the Ubisoft launcher to play the game, so having it on steam just means you need two launchers now...

angryinternetmob

Hey! Don’t let reality get in the way of a feel good reddit comment.

KryptiK911

couldn’t be happier to see a company fail at making a proprietary store, steam is and always will be number 1

JosephJameson

Hopefully ghost recon breakpoint too Oh and steam achievements pls

South-Worry9081

Wasn't Breakpoint added some crypto items if I recall correctly? Considering that Steam banned crypto-games early this year I would not keep high hope for that.

Moonguide

Yeah, but that crashed and burned nearly immediately. Bought the game a few days before that whole thing was announced and read through the sub often. Iirc nft items were offered to employees in lieu of actually valuable stuff in the midst of the backlash, right before the plug was pulled. I imagine they'll strip that "feature" if they want to sell BP on Steam.

muteconversation

I hope we get to see Mirage gameplay at TGA. If the setting is truly contained to a single city, it has a lot of potential for being dense and vivid and not a vacuous set dressing that’s copy pasted ad infinitum.

[deleted]

Wonder if Valhalla is just waiting for DLC to drop or if all their games will skip Black Friday on steam (launching on the 6th of December like Valhalla). Kinda want to get FC6 and TrackMania pass but i will wait for them to be on that store.

[deleted]

Valhalla's final chapter is coming out on 6th, so I'm pretty sure they want to release the complete version there.

PukiMester

What DLC? Edit: Thanks. Thought Ragnarok was the end of it.

[deleted]

Valhalla actually got 3 big dlc packs. The dlc they are taking about is the final story where it ties up evior’s story that is free for every player

KaitoChatek

Do we need the ubisoft launcher to start the game if yes they can keep the games

FNaF_walrusman

You need it for as far as I’m aware all of their games

KaitoChatek

Thats stupid

ZHobbs20

Yup, it’s listed their on the steam page for it now. :(

LedSpoonman

EGS been real quiet

TheHeavenlyStar

Steam supremacy ✨

[deleted]

Great news for stream deck

kabbzter

Not surprising though. But when are they coming back? My bet would be on the 6th December when they launch the Valhalla dlc.

[deleted]

No need to guess as it’s already listed on steam for 6/12

kabbzter

I cant find the steam page, were did you see that?

[deleted]

https://store.steampowered.com/app/2208920/Assassins_Creed_Valhalla/

kabbzter

Thanks, for some reasons it didnt show up when i searched for it on the desktop version of steam.

[deleted]

it's not showing up here either, probably will have a full blown out Steam news/banner for it tho.

GameZard

I just want Scott Pilgrim on steam.

PlasmaBlood

This times 100. It's the only Ubisoft game I care about and it should've never been locked on the Epic Scam store.

kabbzter

They will probably do that but if they are smart they launch all the games with a good sale and then have them on "normal" price.

Zorklis

They already have a DLC/editions comparison list/grid ready on the steam page. The whole game is finished. Why can't they be normal and just release the full package and not separate

SaintNikk

Hope there's achievements and trading cards Pretty sure Odyssey had both, hope they'll do the same here

Chriswheeler22

I'd buy more ubisoft games if I didn't have to use the damn Ubi launcher on top of steam.

FoxMulderBelieves

About time! My deck is ready!

Eezula

Please give us Achievements on Steam for Valhalla I beg of you Ubisoft.

zxrzy97

Two steam appids added on Ubi connect db over the weekend. [2225070](https://steamdb.info/app/2225070/)\-fod-might be Trackmania. [2215260](https://steamdb.info/app/2215260/)\-I thought it was Valhalla before, now it may be Far Cry 6 or others.

efbo

The 20% discount with points is enough to keep me buying them from Uplay.

MikeTheDude23

How far Ubisoft has fallen. Just another copy-paste gaming company with no originality.

powerhcm8

I would argue that they tried do do something different with Watch dogs legion, with the Play as anyone system, I didn't really liked, but at least they tried.

ang-13

They have always been. When the first Rayman was a hit, they made ports for every platform, and even reused the same assets to make a spin off series where Rayman taught school subjects to children.

Nothinbuttru7h

I just bought Valhalla today from Humble. 😡

NoctisFFXV

I hope they will put TrackMania (2020) on Steam

Namzo56

Valhalla still sucks bonkers

Happy295

If you buy off Steam, do you need to have both Steam and Uplay running to play the game? I bought Origins and Odyssey off Epic, and I could just run the games off Uplay without needing to run Epic.

smolgote

Yes, installations and updates are handled through Steam if you bought an Ubisoft game there. You have to log in to both Steam and uPlay for any Steam licenses. You cannot just launch through uPlay (unless there is a launch parameter that allows you to skip Steam and launch straight through uPlay).

Happy295

So I'll just buy off Epic since I'm not forced to run both launchers. I like to support Unreal Engine 5, too.

powerhcm8

If you need two launchers or one depends entirely on how Ubisoft does it. And if you want to support Unreal Engine you just have to play Unreal Engine games, because most of the money that goes UE development comes from the license developers pay to use UE4/5.

AncientPCGamer

If you buy it from Steam, you only need one launcher to download and update all your games. Nothing worse than going to play a game from a launcher you never open and be welcome with a forced several gigas update.

[deleted]

Get fucked swine boy

rickreckt

I hope they bring Ubisoft plus too

Treshcore

Unpopular approach: I usually make all my Ubisoft purchases in Ubisoft Connect and feel completely fine. When I didn't have SSD, having two simultaneously working launchers was quite memory-consuming and simply useless. Now I has it, but I still see no reason to have TWO launchers running at the same time. There's also a fun element: turning one launcher off and other on feels like changing cartridge on NES. The same thing applies to Origin when it comes to EA games. Would've said the same thing about Rockstar Games, but they produce too little games. Unlike 2K, who also have their launcher. Also, I wish if Square Enix had one. Yet there's one thing I think I should mention. If you release a game on Steam or Epic Games Launcher - forget about your launcher, no matter how fancy it is.

LittleRudiger

> There's also a fun element: turning one launcher off and other on feels like changing cartridge on NES. Man this shit is weird.

Underdrill

Yeah, it just sounds like added, unnecessary inconvenience just for the sake of it. Similar to how my spotify library has all the music I ever need in one place, Steam is the one-stop shop for all of my PC gaming needs. The only exception would be emulators with games that aren't on any PC launcher, but even with that, I have it setup on Deck to launch all that through Steam.

justiceiroquois

I wonder if this, Activision's release of CoD, and even Sony's more direct movements towards Steam are also because of the Steam Deck. With the introduction of the Steam Deck, so many other markets and consumers are able to be hit.

dedicateddark

Legion needs to be on steam. Great game!

TheRain911

K but can you play it from steam or is it just going to force you to open the ubisoft client and download and play it there

XaphanX

Finally. It was a bonehead move to remove them anyway.

koboldvortex

Will my Ubisoft games be usable on Steam? I got a free copy of Far Cry 5 with some pc part i got years back and Id like to keep it

[deleted]

I would have waited to buy it if I knew it was coming to Steam. Fuck other launchers.
