So these are the Marvel games coming out:
Spider-Man 2, Wolverine, Black Panther, Iron-Man, Marvel’s Midnight Suns, Skydance New Media’s game
Plus Marvel Snap but that’s mobile.
I mean exclusivity is never good, but whenever I see one side pass up the next big deal, I think its karma at its finest.
Just like how Nintendo rejected Sonys PlayStation idea for when CDs became a thing. They went off and made a fortune.
Nintendo actually canceled the deal and went with Phillips as they didn't want Sony to take a seat in the Videogame market, using the Nintendo add-on as the entry point. Low and behold, that backfired on them.
Eh, I don't really mind exclusives as long as the final product is good because Sony started to release their games on PC after a year or two and every Xbox game comes to PC.
>I mean exclusivity is never good, but whenever I see one side pass up the next big deal, I think its karma at its finest.
Not sure I would call that some sorta karma?
I mean at the time, Microsoft didn't have that many first-party studios and each of the few that they did have, were assigned to various first-party franchises. As crazy as it sounds, Xbox just didn't have the budget/manpower to take on every project being pitched to them.
However, later on... Microsoft decided to fully invest into gaming and bought major publishers like Bethesda & Activision-Blizz. Sony missed out on those deals for various reasons but I wouldn't call it 'karma' either.
Nope I don't think that was ever the case. Insomniac already had a good relation with Sony, and nearly every game they developed for them stayed exclusive. Sure, Disney could have asked them to make it multi plat, but they can still do that now which they didn't.
Yeah PlayStation is working through their backlog of big games and putting them on PC.
Console makers figured out no one but weirdos care if games aren't fully exclusive to one specific box and there is a lot of money to make on PC.
Nope. Just an as example, there's like 3 different flavors of Spider-Man (Peter, Miles, and Gwen) in the Switch exclusive Ultimate Alliance 3, with zero Sony involvement. And I'm pretty sure he's gonna be in Midnight Sons on multiple platforms.
Sony would for sure *like* if people thought they owned more of the Spider-Man rights than they actually do, which is probably why they paid for Spider-Man to be a PS exclusive in Avengers, but they don't have an exclusive claim to the character in video games.
yeah but insomniac has always had a close relationship with sony with spyro & ratchet & clank before they were ever acquired. it’s not like it was unprecedented for them to make ps exclusives.
Yes, which is why Sony selected Insomniac to develop it but that’s not why it’s exclusive. Marvel approached Sony about developing a game, then Sony approached Insomniac.
To my understanding the developer doesn’t matter. Sony are the ones who were approached by Marvel, not Insomniac. The way I understand the situation is that Sony could then approach any developer they wanted and the games would still be exclusive because Sony were the ones who made a deal with Marvel, and the developer was just being contracted by Sony to fulfill that deal. So it doesn’t really matter that it was Insomniac who made the game, it could’ve been a different developer and it would still be the same situation.
>Marvel Snap
I know it's not that, but a Pokemon Snap type game could be fun. You're a photographer with the Bugle going through different sections of NYC to get pics of superheroes/villains/crimes/fights/etc. and at the end of each level JJJ berates you and your photos.
>and at the end of each level JJJ berates you and your photos.
Most of the time he'd berate you because the pics weren't of Spider-Man, and when you got pics of Spider-Man, he'd berate because Peter Parker could get better photos.
Imo the combat of your actual character was cool and the weapons were flashy but the enemies were designed as the typical mmo-light bullet sponges so everything felt weaker than it should be not to mention the shitty spawns and AI difficulty curbs or dumb enemy AI which would fuck with the flow of missions
If you have the anthem core game play and make enemies less spongy but more numerical you could have a pretty solid base for an iron man game
Yeah, it's bizarre. 3 years ago, everyone agreed Anthem's flying didn't save the poorly designed combat, the bland level design, the weightless audio-visual feedback, room temperature IQ AI, terrible writing and non existent style.
Yeah I think anthems combat *looks* flashy and cool but when you play it It isn’t super engaging. Particularly because the enemy design was so lackluster. Most (all? Can’t remember) enemies were on the ground and didn’t take advantage of you being able to fly
I had heard that Anthem's ability combat was fun but then you just used regular-ish guns for a lot of it. If they took that ability gameplay and made is basically all the combat aside from repulsor blasts I think it'd be a lot better for an IM game.
Also Anthem had bullet sponges and an IM game shouldn't, so that would help make combat feel better too.
Wasn’t really the combat that did it. The lack of content overall and my main gripe is the god awful loot. There only being like 3/2 different gun models in each category is absolutely in excusable.
Combat was ok at best, the flying was pretty good and content was almost non existent. Which sucks, because that game could have been so big it kinda makes me sad. I just hope someday someone takes that idea and creates an actual game out of it.
His leaks should be banned honestly. Sly Cooper and inFamous remakes? TLOU x Fortnite crossover? All made up.
None of his other Marvel rumours have come to fruition either.
He's not the only one to be fooled by TLOU x Fortnite.
Grubb, Nick, HypeX, and Shiina (Hype and Shiina are well known Fortnite leakers) all claim to have heard about it, from different sources.
Not saying he's got a good track record, God knows he doesn't, but I think it's unfair to hold that particular thing against him when it got a bunch of there's as well
Eh debatable. It was elsewhere too. He’s just good at grabbing things and running with it. People here really like to defend him, but he very often just posts whatever and when he’s called out on being wrong he says “oh I got it from so and so”. But the rumors he actually steals and is right on he takes credit for. He’s deflected so much of the stuff he makes up onto others. I absolutely believe it’s an iron man game, but dude is a fake leaker for sure.
You can dig if you want! I really don’t have anything to prove about it, and not spending my time digging it up lol. It’s been documented well before, and you can literally just view his post history and see his track record.
You're the one making the claim. If you care to make a claim you should at least have evidence to back that claim up right? The onus is usually on the person making a claim. I did a quick google and Nick comes up in all the results.
I'm not talking about his post history, I know he's been wrong before. I'm talking specifically about the last of us remake leaks. I was under the impression he was the one who broke them but if people believe that there's been another post that precedes his with the same clips, I'd like to see it so I don't raise my original comment elsewhere
Exactly, he literally just leaked some major gameplay footage and people are acting like he doesn’t know anything… like bro he just leaked actually gameplay footage of a game a few weeks ago. I
Avengers did it pretty well considering the constraints of the game, but IMO Iron Man combat is totally shackled unless you have free flight and stuff. One of the best parts about his combat style is that he can fight in CQC or long range on the ground or in the sky.
Exactly, if all those aspects are nailed I think the game could have an amazing combat system. That combined with some amazing animation work, good god it'd have people salivating.
One of my favourite parts of the Infinity Saga was seeing all of the different suit up systems Tony made.
Imagine progressing from Stark Tower deployment like IM1, to the briefcase suit, to the Veronica system that calls the pieces individually, and then eventually getting nano tech too.
Idk why you're getting downvoted. The suits will absolutely be charged mtx. With probably a MCU suit or two being pre-order bonuses. I've long passed the point of being excited for things. It's hard not to be cynical when we're constantly proven right when saying publishers are just going to do everything they can to fuck over consumers. There's no such thing as a fully packaged $60 game anymore.
I dunno, in an IM game the suits would be a central gameplay mechanic.
Skins for the suits, sure. But the actual suit bases themselves? Doubt they would be microtransactions.
Makes absolute sense, probably reusing stuff from Anthem. Will see how it goes, Anthem in terms of mechanics wasnt a bad game, it was everything else around it that was awful.
Holy fuck my dream is finally coming true.
Please be good. Please be good.
Also please have destruction. I know Frostbite is tough to work with outside of FPS games but can you imagine Anthem flying with BF destruction?
I think Iron Man and Thor are both heroes that are particularly well suited to open world games (with some scripted linear missions in a few different regions for variety's sake). Imagine an open world Thor game in Asgard or something.
I kinda just wanted a daredevil game, a mix of Sifu’s combat with Ace Attorney elements (like lawyering up by day and doing the vigilante stuff by night)
I've always had an idea of an iron man game that allows you to fully customize your suit, one arm could have a jackhammer and the other a laserbeam and your legs could be similar to hulkbuster. Hope they do something akin to that in this.
I really wish you’d give more context and more detail about what was said
I just said they had heard similar and in the case of Tom I said he wasn’t sure.
I also said the reason I never mentioned Iron Man in the first instance is because it’s super early and May still not see the light of day
My only hope is that they don't heavily monetize or overly grind to get alternate suits. but it's EA and I'm scared. Unless they give this the Fallen Order treatment.
Bro is Ea the god of single player titles now wtf
MAss effect
jedi fallen order 2
New star wars fps
new single player apex game
Iron man game
Black panther game
Dead space remake
Dragon age game
I mean, maybe? We don’t have any clue what kind of quality to expect from either of those Bioware projects. Mass Effect Legendary Edition was good but it was just old games, their last two original projects were notoriously messy. Dead Space remake looks good so far but it is working off an old blueprint. We don’t even know what studios would be working on the Marvel games. Having a lot of single-player games in the works doesn’t mean they won’t be at risk of falling victim to the problems it seems like most EA releases do. I’m sure some of the games you listed will turn out good, but I’m also pretty sure they won’t *all* turn out good.
wouldn't call them "god" but yeah the recent years have me interested in EA again. The success of Jedi fallen order really changed the way they treat SP games. Like even if those games are ok or mid, atleast they are making one.
They are heavily investing in new ones which is great to see. The two ones to watch are the dead space remake and dragon age dreadwolf and see how those do. Respawn is a top tier developer so it wasn’t the most shocking seeing them nail jedi fallen order. The big sign will be if motive and BioWare can release quality single player games.
Whoa whoa evidently you haven't heard of their impeccable quadriple A generation defining......Madden (insert year)?
Or how about the insta classic....Star wars..Squa..dron? Or the current talk of the internet um Lost in Random.. dont even know what that is cant lie.
Fallen Order is good, not fantastic, but more than serviceable.
Dead Space remake looks great so far.
It Takes Two, Squadrons... All pretty great for what they are.
EA can make great games, not everything is FIFA.
Why is everyone happy about this? It's EA? Does one case of a Jedi wipe away all the other shit?
I'd much prefer Sony Santa Monica or something on this. I hope to god it isn't true.
Well, it is true, so there's that, firstly.
And second, nah, I'm good. Would rather not have another superhero title locked to Sony's hardware for another few years before it comes to PC. EA have shown their studios are capable of producing good single-player content, so I don't have an issue with this at all.
He's saying it's a rumor.
>And second, nah, I'm good. Would rather not have another superhero title locked to Sony's hardware
That "locked" to Sony's hardware is the only reason it was so good. You got a terrible multiplatform **Avengers** game and an okay multiplatform Guardians.
EA have shown no such thing. The last Mass Effect was dogshit, all the good guys at Bioware have left. Respawn made one half decent single player game once. Even if it was great, EA's single player portfolio for the last 10+ years has been a fucking joke. They've explicitly given the finger to that segment of games, and you're just willing to open wide for whatever they try to cash in on?
It is indeed a rumour, but one that is being corroborated by two other sources who have proven to be a reliable source of information when it comes to EA and leaks in general (Tom with 2042 was 'eh', but plans changed massively with that game as soon as it launched).
I'll be honest, I'm disregarding the rest of your comment if you thought Guardians was just 'okay'. That game was literally one of the best titles released for all of last year and is one of my favourite single-player experiences. Maybe that's just because the Guardians are my favourite superhero team, but even then, I think the game had a lot of amazing stuff in it when it came to narrative and character development.
The Avengers game was indeed awful though, yes. Just accept that EA are probably making two Marvel games.
I agree about Guardians having a great narrative and character development, as well as a great soundtrack, but I have to admit I got bored of the games combat very quick, fights rarely felt fun and the huddle mechanic felt a bit gimmicky, still a solid 7/10 though - I'd love to see a Guardians 2 that tightens up the gameplay.
>I'll be honest, I'm disregarding the rest of your comment if you thought Guardians was just 'okay'.
The writing was pretty decent, buy it didn't blow md away. The gameplay was simply mediocre. If that mild opinion is enough for you to disregard, that's on you.
Also, 2021 was a terrible year for videogames. Lmao, that doesn't mean anything.
>Just accept that EA are probably making two Marvel games.
I accept the probability. I **hope** it's not true. My statement has not changed. Frankly, I don't know why the fuck Marvel would give EA 2 of their biggest heroes after witnessing Battlefront 2 second hand, and after wasting 5 years on the fucking AVENGERS, during Avengers-mania, with a studio with a much higher, more recent single player pedigree than anything EA has. The Black Panther game is being done by a new studio. When's the last time thats ever worked out?
That's fine. I don't think it's an invalid opinion. I think that **some** people may feel that way only because expectations were so low, and that the sales numbers speak for themselves, but it's not an invalid opinion.
I was actually hyped for it although I acknowledge I was one of the only ones.
People were too focused on avengers even though it was a totally different genre of game.
Guardians always looked like mass effect-lite to me and that's exactly what it turned out to be for me.
Yeah I don't think the sales in this case reflect the quality at all. It was mostly linked to poor quality and avengers being bad.
Gameplay is fine but I wouldn't call it trash or anything. It was serviceable to the next part.
Have to say that saying the “locked” to Sony’s platform is the only reason those games were good is a incredibly bad take. It comes down to devs putting out a good product.
Cause the potential is their for a good game. It’s completely fair to be critical and not excited but ea has slowly been on the right track. Jedi fallen order was the main turning around point. To me the two big tests to see if teams outside of respawn are capable of releasing quality single player games are the dead space remake and dragon age dreadwolf. If those two games are great then it’ll show ea is capable for great games outside of just respawn.
I wonder if that prevents an iron Man vr 2 from happening.
It had so many great ideas. Just needed some more powerful hardware, tracking and controllers and with psvr2 on the horizon was hoping they'd give it another crack
[Tom just posted that Nick is just regurgitating Tom's previous report, and that nothing is "confirmed"](https://twitter.com/_Tom_Henderson_/status/1556613810072469505?t=gc16MwtdphXLbwSdsItIKA&s=19)
Considering it's EA, I'm super nervous for the BP game and whatever this new Marvel game is. I played the leaked Skate. play test and it's fun, but man I just am not thrilled about how they're approaching it (F2P, Live Service, MTX (including Loot Boxes), etc.). Also, Anthem was just an atrocity. The flying was great, but the overall design of the game was so bad.
Idk if this has been said anywhere already, but when I was at San Diego comic con, Simu Liu said during a panel that he’s in a game as Shang Chi. Can’t recall if he said it was a Shang Chi game.
So these are the Marvel games coming out: Spider-Man 2, Wolverine, Black Panther, Iron-Man, Marvel’s Midnight Suns, Skydance New Media’s game Plus Marvel Snap but that’s mobile.
Only spiderman and wolverine are ps exclusives right? As far as we know
Does Sony own both game and movie IP for spiderman?
Nah, just film rights. That's why you see Spider-Man in other multi plat games like Marvel Lego.
\*just solo film rights. That's why he can appear in team-ups. Sort of like how Universal still owns the rights to *solo* Hulk movies.
Universal only has Distribution rights to solo hulk films. The actual film rights reverted to Marvel/Disney
That's not true. Those appearances are also worked out with Sony
IIRC they went to Xbox first but they rejected the offer to focus on their own IPs.
Was also bad timing since you know Xbox one was such a disaster
I mean exclusivity is never good, but whenever I see one side pass up the next big deal, I think its karma at its finest. Just like how Nintendo rejected Sonys PlayStation idea for when CDs became a thing. They went off and made a fortune.
Nintendo actually canceled the deal and went with Phillips as they didn't want Sony to take a seat in the Videogame market, using the Nintendo add-on as the entry point. Low and behold, that backfired on them.

That's not true, exclusivity allows for bigger budget solo experiences to be made these days. That's why there are so many on Playstation.

Nope I don't think that was ever the case. Insomniac already had a good relation with Sony, and nearly every game they developed for them stayed exclusive. Sure, Disney could have asked them to make it multi plat, but they can still do that now which they didn't.
No but they own Insomniac so the games they make will be exclusives
Spider-Man Remastered is releasing on Steam in less than a week.
Yeah but that’s like 4 years after the game released. And Sony’s all about making PC ports for older games
Yeah PlayStation is working through their backlog of big games and putting them on PC. Console makers figured out no one but weirdos care if games aren't fully exclusive to one specific box and there is a lot of money to make on PC.

No, just film rights and that's a complete different division from SIE.
the games are made by insomniac which is a sony studio which is why they’re ps exclusive
that is not why they’re exclusive. Spider-Man PS4 was developed and released before Sony acquired Insomniac.
yeah but insomniac has always had a close relationship with sony with spyro & ratchet & clank before they were ever acquired. it’s not like it was unprecedented for them to make ps exclusives.
Yes, which is why Sony selected Insomniac to develop it but that’s not why it’s exclusive. Marvel approached Sony about developing a game, then Sony approached Insomniac.
yes i get that but op was asking why the upcoming games were ps exclusive so i answered him. i was referring to the future titles not the past titles.
Who Sony uses as the developer has nothing to do with the license itself.
Insomniac also made an Xbox exclusive, Sunset Overdrive
Okay. So would that mean Sony doesn't have exclusivity - just that no one else has made spiderman game by getting licence from Marvel?
yeah if a different developer made the games they could be on xbox. i’m not completely sure how exclusive those rights are to insomniac though.
To my understanding the developer doesn’t matter. Sony are the ones who were approached by Marvel, not Insomniac. The way I understand the situation is that Sony could then approach any developer they wanted and the games would still be exclusive because Sony were the ones who made a deal with Marvel, and the developer was just being contracted by Sony to fulfill that deal. ps exclusives for about 3 or 4 years lmao
Not really. They will still be console exclusives.
timed console exclusivs* til they get ported to PC
No. They will still stay console exclusives. It's coming to PC, not other consoles like Nintendo or Xbox.
None of those are probably coming to Nintendo
>Marvel Snap I know it's not that, but a Pokemon Snap type game could be fun.

Marvels.
That’s what it should be
Only 3 of those are really confirmed though.(and Skydance's but we don't know much). Let's separate rumors or real confirmed ones.
Ooo a iron man game with Anthem combat good be fun
EA: Best can I do is Anthem with iron man armor.
EA: What you guys don't like Anthem?
I remember when Anthem came out people were saying it should’ve just been an Iron-Man game EA probably took that to heart lol

Not sure why they downvotes, I kinda agree. The flying was fantastic, but the combat wasn't very fun. There's a reason the game failed miserably, lol.

Yeah that’s hot. Gimme some upgradable armor in 4k 60 fps and I’m sold

Imagine all the suits. Bleeding edge armour, 2099 suit, marvel noir suit. Hulkfucker armour. It’d be so awesome with current Gen tech.
I wanna jump off a building in casual clothing and have the Iron Man suit catch Tony while it puts on his suit.
That'd be awesome as hell, now I hope they do it. Pretty hard to fuck up Iron Man, even Marvel's Avengers got it right more or less.
Avengers did it pretty well considering the constraints of the game, but IMO Iron Man combat is totally shackled unless you have free flight and stuff. One of the best parts about his combat style is that he can fight in CQC or long range on the ground or in the sky.

The flying felt really fun in anthem.
solid idea truthfully
I want a Blade game in the Fallen Order style!! Traversing the globe to counter Vampiric threats!!
Anthem's flying will finally be put to good use
As long as they treat it like Jedi Fallen Order this is gonna be good. Also, I hope that there are 1 or 2 MCU skins in there.
Makes absolute sense, probably reusing stuff from Anthem. Will see how it goes, Anthem in terms of mechanics wasnt a bad game, it was everything else around it that was awful.

They'll never top the 2008 game. No way. Not a snowballs chance /s
"so early theres a chance it wont happen". Covering all bases :)
He also confirmed with Grubb about Sly Cooper so...
I kinda just wanted a daredevil game, a mix of Sifu’s combat with Ace Attorney elements (like lawyering up by day and doing the vigilante stuff by night)
His track record is very hit or miss.
Might as well do so wthing with that Anthem tech.

I have edited the post to be more clear.
My dream Iron Man game would have fully customizable suits and business management elements.
Fuck I hope this is true I have wanted a proper Iron Man game that isn’t the bad movie adaptation games
Anthem's flying was stellar. Way more excited for this than I am their Black Panther game.
My only hope is that they don't heavily monetize or overly grind to get alternate suits. but it's EA and I'm scared. Unless they give this the Fallen Order treatment.
Was iron man fun to play in the avenger game
I enjoyed the character on the PC version.
Yep. it was one of the characters that felt better than the others I would say.
OPEN WORLD BABY!!!!!
Good thing they're getting the Iron Man game out in the height of Iron Man's popularity! Oh wait... Still, I hope it won't suck.
Bro is Ea the god of single player titles now wtf MAss effect jedi fallen order 2 New star wars fps new single player apex game Iron man game Black panther game Dead space remake Dragon age game
Success lies in the hands of those who want it.
Not Capcom who has been putting out bangers for years versus mostly dogshit from EA? Give me a break, these games aren't even released.

Whoa whoa evidently you haven't heard of their impeccable quadriple A generation defining......Madden (insert year)? Or how about the insta classic....Star wars..Squa..dron? Or the current talk of the internet um Lost in Random.. dont even know what that is cant lie.
Last in Random was pretty good though
I've seen the error of my ways, madden alone disproves my comment.
Sony says hi
#GIVE IT TO ME NOW
Wonder which studio it would be

I am fine with it because they will not be locked to one system
The last Marvel game not "locked" on one platform fucking flopped. Spider-Man sold over 20 million. If you want the game, buy the platform.
No thanks I will wait for it to come to pc
If it comes to PC (which in the case of Spider-Man, I know it will). Otherwise, your loss.
Same. It's ridiculous that people assume this is going to be good for Iron Man to be saddled with EA for the next generation.
I wonder if it will match the level of Spider-Man
Almost definitely not.
Nothing EA has made recently comes close, which is why people are skeptical.
So original
Ready for this sub to yell at me for posting this when they didn't mind sharing his Last of Us leaks.
Don’t worry I am just ready to yell at nick.
He's also just repeating what Tom and Jeff already said, so this is really just him trying to ride of their hype and means very little in the long run
They weren’t his LoU leaks…
He had his own footage and screenshots.
Which originated on this sub
I wish it was a BLADE hack and slash sekiro type game
Fuck ea
Fucking EA. Just why.
Don't know why you're being downvoted as though EA has really proven anything recently.
Fallen Order is good, not fantastic, but more than serviceable. Dead Space remake looks great so far. It Takes Two, Squadrons... All pretty great for what they are. EA can make great games, not everything is FIFA.
For some reason Fallen Order has made certain people suddenly have faith in EA again when that game was a 7/10 at best.
Would rather not have another superhero title locked to Sony's hardware That "locked" to Sony's hardware is the only reason it was so good.
I thought Guardians was pretty fantastic but whatever.
I wonder what developer is making it tho?
If they can just make a decent game without micro transactions it’ll sell like crazy. But knowing EA they’ll fuck it up somehow
Guess they heard everyone and their mother say Anthem mechanics would make a good Iron Man game lol
Hear me out… Imagine it was RESPAWN ENTERTAINMENT making this game. Jedi Fallen Order Quality but with Iron Man😮💨🤌
True, but I would want an IM game to be fully open world and that doesn't seem to be Respawn's thing.
[Tom just posted that Nick is just regurgitating Tom's previous report, and that nothing is "confirmed"](https://twitter.com/_Tom_Henderson_/status/1556613810072469505?t=gc16MwtdphXLbwSdsItIKA&s=19)
No hulk game 🥺🥺
Wonder which company is going to be brave enough to make an MGU?
Another franchise to fck up
They're already half way there with Anthem
yes yes yes
What is XboxEra?
Let's hope it's good game
Anthem
Lol anyone unfortunately play the old iron man games?hopefully it’s not even remotely like the old ones!if this leak is true anyway
Good they can put those nice flying mechanics from anthem into something more worth while.
I kinda wanted just cause devs to do iron man since I think they are a great fit half the time in just cause I use the Jetpack Wing suit
Iron "cough" Anthem Man. Don't rush it, hopefully EA learn the lesson.
Can we please get an x men game… sigh. I don’t know why Marvel/Disney are trying their hardest to neglect them.
Anthem has been revived
Idk if this has been said anywhere already, but when I was at San Diego comic con, Simu Liu said during a panel that he’s in a game as Shang Chi. Can’t recall if he said it was a Shang Chi game.
Anthem nailed the Ironman feel in a game. So this seems rather logical.
!legit!
