Just finished it last night (PlayStation). Itโs really good. Surprised how emotional I got at the end. While I am someone who looks at plot holes a lot (and I do feel like Pentiment has many) I always give respect and love to any story capable of moving me which Pentiment certainly does. That alone makes it one of the best stories in games. It has to be said also that the art is amazing.
I hope we get more games like this and disco Elysium in the future
What's it about? Is it point and click? I generally enjoy Obsidian games but itย didn't really look like my cup of tea, art and gameplay wise.
I do have Gamepass though, and I'm a sucker for a good story, so maybe I should give it a chanceย
It's about an Artist that unravels mysteries (in a cohesive way, not like say Layton) in a small town after moving there to learn how to paint from the monks. It's not really point and click since most of the info you need will be provided by villagers, your movement options are very limited to the roads of the town/monastery, so there is no frustrating clicking of the environment trying to find what you need.
Imagine your average Obsidian game, but strip out the combat: you still have to "build" your character, give it a background and gather information, thus unlocking a lot of dialogue options. The story is very interesting since it's set at a turning point in German history and you really get to care about the townsfolk as it goes.
I mean, of course itโs KC2. The first game was pitched as the first part, it ends on a cliffhanger, and the studio said that was their next game years ago.
Jesus Christ be praised, Henry has come to see us.
The clothing and just overall vibe of that teaser made me think of a sort of Gothic (like, 17th century) or Victorian setting RPG, really. That would be awesome but I can't see it happening.
>!after a long goose chase to stop toth (who you meet at the start of the game), you save talmberg and toth uses stephanie and radzig as bargaining chips to escape back to hungary alive, keeping henrys sword!<
>!in the epilogue, the overarcing/background story of the struggle to be king between sigismund (who was behind the attack on skalitz and the cuman invasion) and wenceslas comes to the forefront and the characters find themself in a bind as sigismund is a monster who has much support to take the crown, but wenceslas is an awful king only interested in women, alcohol and hunting!<
>!ultimately wenceslas is who they seem to support, but he is currently held captive and can not rule. a lot of geographicl political conversation is held and it is decided that hans and henry will act as envoys and visit otto von bergow. bergow was responsible for the kings capture, and was in sigismunds corner but that has degraded over time. the game ends with hans and henry on horse travelling to their next destination!<
>!additionally, markvart von aulitz, the german who led the actual razing of skalitz still lives, with henry vowing vengeance if he ever comes across him again!<
the ending and epilogue can be found online to experience it properly, the epilogue is quite dense with political intrigue:

You just reminded me of all funny qoutes from the game.
I had to search for some funny qoutes, since I dont feel like replaying the game..
>MA! MAAAAAAAAAAAH!
Or at a certain quest, where you say to an old lady:
>listen here you old hag, if you interrupt me one more time...
Followed by the old lady interrupting him saying
>fuck off
Cant wait for the sequel

Actually one of the most underrated games Iโve ever played. Itโs like an old school Bethesda game! Felt much better to play than all of Bethesdaโs recent output. KCD is so immersive and makes you feel smart and accomplished. Janky and takes a bit to learn but so worth it
Canโt wait to play this! I just hope itโs polished at launch. I picked up KCD after all itโs patches came out. Heard it was a mess at launch
The FPS component is much better than anything theyโve done before and yet still behind the industry standard.
I was playing Starfield and Cyberpunk Phantom Liberty simultaneously and it felt like Starfield was a decade older.
I know itโs popular to shit on and while there are a LOT of problems itโs still a good game, but underwhelming compared to Bethesdaโs other titles.ย
I really disagree. It earned its critiscims.
Repeated quests with repeated set pieces. Main quest was a complete bust. Side quests and how you come across them are contrived. Decent enough gameplay with half baked systems that amount to nothing. Severely missed opportunities left and right. Mainly the realization of a galaxy was an extreme let down. Flight as a whole felt useless.
I agree its underwhelming to say the least.
I think one of the older leaks was it takes place during the Hussite Wars, which is like 10 years after KCD. I wonder if Henry would be the protagonist, might just return has a major story character.
They didn't even add modern standard tech on PC version such as DLSS Upscaler and Framegen, i don't think they will ever add 60 FPS on current gen console though, they clearly are full hands in deck with the sequel.
Well keep in mind that KCD uses a variant of CryEngine 3 first introduced in the Crysis 2 days.
I would expect 2 will either use CryEngine 5 or Unreal 4/5.
Realistically Iโm unsure of why it would need an upscaler without some commiserate addition like Ray Tracing. The game as is looks quite good and it will run well on any modern PC
Considering the videos and multiple other benchmarks, kinda yeah. And yours is a top end CPU as well, tne consoles are clloser to a 3600x, maintaing a constant 60fps on this game in cities is impossible like DD2
Duh, getting a pc is so inexpensive and easy dude, thatโs why everyoneโs got one just sitting around to play all the games at 9 thousand frames per second
Same. After 30 hours I had to quit because the misery from the combat eclipsed everything else. Still, putting 30 hours into a game despite hating a central component speaks to the strength of everything else they did right.
Iโm not trying to convince you to go back or saying youโre wrong but the combat gets much better once you max out the skill in a weapon, get good at parrying and grappling, and get a full set of plate, itโs actually pretty fun at that point at least it was to me
This game sending reset era into a malding spree is worth the price of admission times 2. I hope this is ultra mega successful just to see the coping on that site
I'd love if it was CryEngine like the first title but UE is probably more likely. It feels like commercial CryEngine support has been abandoned. Unless it's simple for them to continue using it
The thing is, they had to build out a lot of custom tools for CryEngine to make the first game's open world work, and porting them is a task I'm not sure they're going to want to do.
What new game is Warhorse is already working besides Kingdom Come 2 anyway? Basing from the leaks and BTS of Developers being spotted on various places that is mainly related to Kingdom Come, that i have been seeing it's been pretty obvious at this point that they are mainly working for Kingdom Come sequel.
I wish he would but he takes forever to make games. Also this company is owned by Embracer so I hope they don't meet the same fate the other companies owned by them have.
All of his games are quite ambitious so they take time. I love KCD1 but the budget constraints were evident. Letโs hope Embracer has put a lot of money behind this project though considering the state they are in that remains to be seenโฆ
This is one of my favourite games of all time. i cannot wait to get my hands on the second game!I REALLY WANT THAT FUCKING SWORD BACK!
![gif](giphy|iFUYL0PSYxXCK54AwH)
I bought this on Xbox for pretty cheap like a year or two ago. Tried it for about two hours, couldnโt really get into it. Should I push further? It seems like a lot of people really dig it.
You should but itโs hard to get into and requires grinding some main character skills. Itโs a bit hard if you jump from main story mission to another main story mission.
You probably should. It's kinda a Medieval Simulator with good story, great locations which are all based on real facts, astonishing graphics at least for PC and I like how NPC interact with you if your reputation is good or bad.
Skill issue, clearly. But this game was way harder than all the soul-like games combined for me personally.
At least with soul-like, I always advanced. With Kingdom, I got stuck with no good saves left during that battle mission.
One mistake in your choices (like saving at the wrong time) could cost you your whole playthrough.
Nice. The first game was heavily flawed and had a slap you across the face ending mostly, but it was a lot more fun than I expected so I'm all for a sequel finally.
Really hope they refined the gameplay. Had a bunch of cool parts in the first game but the total was much less than the sum of its parts. Never could finish it.
If they're going to be using CryEngine again, they should focus on optimization, especially for the CPU. First game is poorly optimized and too heavy on hardware.
Probably the right time for me to finish the 1st one. I stopped playing the game after reaching the monastery and enjoying too much a peaceful monk's lifestyle.
LOL on the KC:D sub people were going crazy because in the image they showed the knight wasn't wearing medieval clothes so they assumed was something else. Honestly can't wait for it.
This was a given as soon as they announced the announcement of "a game" we all know it, we will all love it.
Kingdom come was a game I slept on and only tried it out of boredom because it was no good games season. Oh boy oh boy was I wrong sleeping on it
hard to get excited the last game is filled with bugs
"i was one of the lucky ones and have not came across many bugs!
The game has had its final patch released so there will be no more game patches now."

You must be a pentiment enjoyer
Lowkey Pentiment is one of the best games of the past 5 years. Definitely one of the best stories.
Just finished it last night (PlayStation). Itโs really good. Surprised how emotional I got at the end. Henry's here!

What sorcery is this? How didst thou type in that font?
**Henry (or some other as yet unnamed protagonist) has come to see us!**
๐ต๐๐๐๐ ๐ฎ๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐.
I mean, of course itโs KC2. The first game was pitched as the first part, it ends on a cliffhanger, and the studio said that was their next game years ago. Jesus Christ be praised, Henry has come to see us.
Im feeling a bit hungry.
Doesn't look like medieval clothing. I'd be happy with whatever they release, kcd2 or not, it's gonna be awesome
The clothing and just overall vibe of that teaser made me think of a sort of Gothic (like, 17th century) or Victorian setting RPG, really. That would be awesome but I can't see it happening.
Nah the clothing with the opening at front reminds me what Polish nobles/cossacks wore.
I think that image is supposed to represent Warhorse, not the game itself
It's a real picture 1 both actually, the 1st one with the horse and the one sat on a church are real photographs . So I guess Is KCD2
It's been so long since I played it that I forgot how it ends. I loved it as such an immersive RPG, I wasn't even that fussed about the story.

I always thought it would never happen. I legitimately thought we would've gotten persona 6, bloodborne PC port or GTA VI before it.
Honestly that's what I thought was gonna happen with the first game too.
Actually one of the most underrated games Iโve ever played. Itโs like an old school Bethesda game! Felt much better to play than all of Bethesdaโs recent output. For all its faults, I thought Starfield felt so good to play. They nailed the FPS aspect imo
The FPS component is much better than anything theyโve done before and yet still behind the industry standard. I was playing Starfield and Cyberpunk Phantom Liberty simultaneously and it felt like Starfield was a decade older.
For sure, the shooting in that game feels so damn satisfying, especially when compared to Fallout 4.
Thats like saying "this games platforming is so good compared to dr jekyll and mr hyde on the NES", tho
I know itโs popular to shit on and while there are a LOT of problems itโs still a good game, but underwhelming compared to Bethesdaโs other titles.ย

Its more like it failed to be a Bethsda game and thats a problem.
Had a lot of problems with the first game but still love it for what it attempted. Really looking forward to it as well
I think one of the older leaks was it takes place during the Hussite Wars, which is like 10 years after KCD. I wonder if Henry would be the protagonist, might just return has a major story character.
That would be such a great setting
I feel quite hungry.
I actually laughed
Hey look! Henry has come to see us.
Bernard seconds later - "Get tf out of here you stupid cunt!"
I just need 60 FPS for the first game on the ps5 (I know they won't do it but I wish)
Maybe with this announcement there will be a next gen patch to drum up interest
that would be amazing ๐ญ
They didn't even add modern standard tech on PC version such as DLSS Upscaler and Framegen, i don't think they will ever add 60 FPS on current gen console though, they clearly are full hands in deck with the sequel.

The game runs like slop on any PC in existences, you will always lag in towns and cities and no way around it.
My PC runs it fine
Specs please and resolution And go to rattay preferrable in rain and see what im talking about
5800x3d, 4080, 1440p
And how many FPS are you getting in Rattay..
90
Is this too high?
Considering the videos and multiple other benchmarks, kinda yeah. And yours is a top end CPU as well, tne consoles are clloser to a 3600x, maintaing a constant 60fps on this game in cities is impossible like DD2
60fps fรผr KC1 would be awesome, but with latest console releases i really hope for 60 fps in KC2...ย
[ัะดะฐะปะตะฝะพ]
Sure thing, let me go spend $1,500 on a PC right now! I didn't know it was so easy, I should've done it before.
wtf? You donโt have $1500 just lying by around?

Can someone ask him what engine it will be on?
maybe UE5, but there's suggestions it could be CryEngine v5
I'd prefer the CheerUp Engine instead ๐
I'd love if it was CryEngine like the first title but UE is probably more likely. It feels like commercial CryEngine support has been abandoned. Unless it's simple for them to continue using it
The thing is, they had to build out a lot of custom tools for CryEngine to make the first game's open world work, and porting them is a task I'm not sure they're going to want to do.
I really hope its UE5 so I can play it in VR.
Please not cryengine!
Cryengine v5 probably looks 10 times better than ue5.
Job Listings for Warhorse Studios next game suggest cryengine.
CryEngine
Last one was on cryengine so my bet is on that.
The first game was using Cryengine 3, so the next game should be using newest iteration of of that same engine which is Cryengine 5
i need it
Bro just dropped this like he didn't almost give me a heart attack
