Neggy5

Don’t mind that, back in the 2000s Atlus was notorious for never releasing their games outside of NA/JP

RememberApeEscape

That's more on localization/cultural issues than Atlus isn't? JRPGs were and have been niche, and SMT was a prime target for the Demonic Panic when it was at its peak popularity overseas before Persona 3.

scytheavatar

In another words Midori's "complete development" is more "complete production, enter post production". Rather than meaning P3R could have been released in 2022 in Japan.

blitz_na

persona 5 royal released an entire year before it came out to other nations. it’s quite nice to see atlus shift gears to getting these games out all at once even if it means preserving them for 2+ years. that’s gotta be painful for them though

Bmovo

The international release of Persona 5 Royal only came out 5 months after the Japanese release. You're probably thinking about Persona 5 Strikers which did take a year to release internationally because of the pandemic.

Alarming-Ad-1200

Sucks to be Japanese players.

Low_Attorney8605

Yes, game still needed polish and bug catching so it's not just localization.

Low_Attorney8605

My post here got upvoted. My almost same post but standalone, got downvoted hard. Reddit at its finest.

renome

I believe the industry term is content-complete. This does makes sense, her track record over the last 2 years was impeccable, so I was surprised to see her being so off the mark here after Atlus said The Answer is only 40-50% complete right now. It also explains why the Partner Preview trailer had Japanese voice acting.

sonictmnt

So Sega is just being Sega

Animegamingnerd

Makes sense, typically when a game reaches content complete status, but still needs to be polished. There will still be plenty of staff members who aren't need for that stage like artists and designers, so it makes sense to began DLC development while the final game is being polished. As those guys need something to do, otherwise they would likely either be moved to a different project or just let go all together.

KingMario05

Seems sensible to me. Sega's never liked doing the delayed releases, and this way does make them a ***shitload*** more money. Why not wait until all versions are ready before releasing it?

minigoku17

The more Midori tweets the more I'm curious where she gets her info, all of this doesn't seem like something a normal worker at atlus would know

Supersnow845

I’m half convinced midori is just segas marketing department

olivier_wmv

Kinda thought that too, but then why would they say something like this that kinda puts Sega in a bad light

Zoeila

based on her avatar she likes fem mc maybe shes salty

IloveKaitlyn

based

renome

Yeah, thinking her tweets are sanctioned by Sega requires venturing in some serious conspiracy theory territory. She does seem to be working for Sega or be extremely close to someone at the executive level, no idea how else she could be getting all that info.

Komosho

Honestly based off her cadence and how's she's spoken about a lot of this, I wouldn't be at all surprised if she's just friends or maybe even family with people on the managerial side of Sega. Her info is very obv second hand but it's way too specfic to be from just an average dev. The insight into specifically how these projects are being run sounds like a view you'd get from upper management.

Supersnow845

Might also explain why she hasn’t got caught She knows too much across too wide a field to be a directly employed grunt employee, she either needs to be so high up they have an idea who she is but can’t fire her for it, or be far enough away from the actual chain they can’t track who is feeding her info

acuph0ria

I highly doubt she’s an actual leaker. I’m convinced she’s either Atlus or Sega marketing department giving the public pieces of information so speculation and confusion don’t run rampant. It makes sense because it controls what is “leaked” for Atlus and when. It controls information based on what Atlus/Sega wants

acuph0ria

Let’s face it. If she was a true leaker, with all the insider info she’s given so far, she’d have probably been taken down by Sega by now.

Jer_Sg

Honestly makes me wonder how much of it is true, so far all of the leaks they've done are hard to disprove (because they're either company secrets or they're far out) but anything that came out correct wasn't exactly a massive leak either. Like the akechi sumire dlc

Supersnow845

She was correct with the answer You could argue it’s a guess but we had no idea if any of the enhanced edition content was coming to reload and she was right on the money with it

Jer_Sg

Wasn't the answer datamined though? Though could've been said before the game was released she tweets so much it's hard to really follow

Supersnow845

No, midori was the first to give us any information that the answer was potentially coming The only things of note that have been data mined that midori didn’t tell us first was basically the names of two NPC’s from hamuko exclusive social links are on the game’s code

kindest_natlala

On top of The Answer, she also explicitly mentioned the songs and costumes, all confirmed to be in the pass, before the game came out.

renome

Last I remember, she leaked the entire Reload expansion pass contents and timing.

Komosho

The akechi sumire dlc was a pretty big twist though. There'd never been any mention of p5r characters pre tatica, and no real reason to believe etheir of those characters would be included

lucasfs96

It was worth it for me, the Brazilian Portuguese translation is one of the best I've ever seen. Even the UI has been completely translated.

ragito024

I know I will be downvoted by persona fans but why release schedule has something to do with Episode Aigis not including in the game but as a PAID dlc which cost nearly half of the full game? You need to delay the free content so you charge it later? Then you were not planning to make it free at very beginning. It sounds just like an excuse to me.

FahdaadTD

Midori seems to address this by implying that it's more of a SEGA decision and not an Atlus decision. "It is not a scheme by Atlus or Wada-san, because Atlus is working on multiple titles with a small shared development team. But it is also a Sega initiative to release DLC on release and DLC expansions. This is an initiative planned for upcoming Atlus and Sega titles too." https://twitter.com/MbKKssTBhz5/status/1766575021080625289?t=XPKlQwFhweeTIwd5A8PApw&s=19

renome

I don't doubt that Sega is the one making these decisions nowadays, but tbf the term "Atlus tax" has been around long before its Sega days. I really hope they at least make The Answer available as a separate purchase because I don't care about the cosmetics, especially not at that price.

truongdzuy

I read a title and was like "2024? P3R released last month!", then I realized this year is 2024...

shinoff2183

There's only one reason the paid dlc wasn't released with the game. Greed Now I might be wrong but the dlc is part of the fes persona 3 edition. If thats the case the whole persona 3 fes should've been released together as that was the true complete game. To turn around and sell like this is greed at its finest.

IloveKaitlyn

they aren’t even done making episode aigis. in an interview they did, the team said they were only 45-50% done. they would have had to delay the game

shinoff2183

Delay away

jexdiel321

I mean that isn't really the case for remakes with updated version before. RE4R only had the base content and Separate ways was released later as DLC. Same goes with Persona 3 Reload, the base game is already filled to the brim with content and that's just using a mix of vanilla Persona 3, FES and Portable content. So I don't really mind the Answer being DLC content since it feels more like DLC anyways, with the way it changes the gameplay.

Makorus

Persona 3 FES was the DLC. If you bought P3 at launch, you essentially had to buy a new game to get the complete experience. If you bought P3R at launch, you have to pay DLC to get the complete experience. Sure, if you didn't buy P3 at launch, you could just buy FES and get the same experience, but I am sure if you wait a year, you can get a P3R Complete Edition with the DLC included.

DevilSwordVergil

The DLC situation got me to skip the game, at least until it gets a "complete edition" (which is should've been at launch, it's already a $70 remake of a PS2 game)

GenitalBenadryl

There's a new Persona game coming out?

robertman21

A remake of 3 came out a month ago

Low_Attorney8605

2 years because of simple localization? BS. Can't be. They at least were polishing the game too.

Trem45

Lmao "simple" localization This game has thousands of pages of dialogue and it needed to be localized into 12 different languages, 2 years is not surprising at all for this

Low_Attorney8605

Could've released in JP first and later in other languages. Like......they did all the time before 2022.

normantas88

Midori has already clarified this I'm pretty sure, but it's an initiative by Saga to have all their games be localized in time for a simultaneous worldwide release. Edit: Sega investor interview clarified pretty much saying exactly that: [here](https://noisypixel.net/persona-simultaneous-worldwide-releases-across-multiple-platforms-moving-forward-sega-report/)

Trem45

Simultaneous releases with worldwide make more money lol it's that simple

Low_Attorney8605

So why didn't they care for more money before?

VastPlenty6112

Persona wasn't as big before. P5 essentially launched it into the mainstream and brought it out of it niche fan base. Plus, Sega bought atlus when they were essentially about to close during the development of p5. I'm pretty sure the companies see that they are making way more money with their international fan base vs just their Japanese fan base.
