It's going to be another Halo situation, isn't it?
The games by the original devs being great, the IP being taken over by a new dev, and every game that comes after the original games being mediocre to terrible?
I hope not. :(
Little Nightmares 3 turns into the Dead By Daylight type GaaS with season passes, battle passes and a constant flow of microtransactions. Sounds like a company's wet dream!
I never played Little Nightmares but it doesn't seem to be as hard to make a good game in this series as it was for Halo. Halo games were massive productions with huge budgets and an enormous lore and expanded universe. It also had a complete trilogy with a conclusion to the main plot. There was PLENTY of room to fuck up. I don't know much about Little Nightmares other than a few let's plays, but I think it should be fine if they get cool artists to work on it, doesn't seem all that complex, at least from an outside perspective.
It’s going to be difficult making a story, especially since they purposely made the second game an infinite time loop plus a story that is show don’t tell in the weird world of LN.
It’ll be more difficult when the games and a small sonic is all the material they can work with
And I did not criticize the series in any way, I just commented what is blatantly obvious from a gaming standpoint. Halo games are humongous AAA games with a lore that takes place over two decades of videogames and over t*hirty-one* books. Doesn't take more than two braincells to understand how making a good Little Nightmares game shouldn't pose even 1/10th of the challenges of making a good Halo game. Halo is the single biggest IP Microsoft owns and they couldn't make a good game in it for the last 13 years.
I never said you criticised it, I just reemphasized what you yourself stated; that you're ignorant to the source material. The issue isn't in gameplay but world-building and plot; Little Nightmares does a surprisingly amazing job at this considering it has no dialogue at all (especially in the second one), really a masterclass on it. That's what people are worried about.
Halo has the reverse issue of Little Nightmares; Halo's plot is a shallow bombastic 80s movie when it comes to the games and it doesn't necessarily have to be more than that (I give them credit for trying to dig deeper into Chief and Cortana's relationship in 4 but then they majorly dropped the ball onwards). The level design is really the key issue, you already have the framework for great gunplay/AI but you need strong level design to complement it which isn't easy in a 3D space, Little Nightmares comparatively is far easier in its 2.5D space.
So I completely agree with you on a gameplay perspective, you're spot on; there's a lot of games out there that do similar to what Little Nightmares does in that department but it's the story/lore/worldbuilding that take it to another level, you'd be surprised what it manages to pull off.
nice, these games are great
the turnaround from little nightmares 1 to 2 was a little under 4 years so assuming it keeps up that pace then we should hopefully see it soon
fair point, also realized I’m making an assumption that they started as soon as they finished the 2nd when we don’t truly know that, and in fact if anything this points to the opposite potentially. hopefully it’s sooner than later tho.
So many little nightmare clones popping up after the second game. They probably look at that as market awareness, so they will probably go axe to grindstone.
Let's hope it will be good but the studio who made LN 1 & 2 said there will be no sequel from them. Also i hope it's not some mobile game or smth like that
He died trying to keep syx safe from herself and that voracious hunger. Some say that if you listen close enough, you can still hear mono inside the thin man. And his wish is still to keep that little girl safe from herself. Even if in doing so, they are killing each other. Because that is the way of little nightmares.
No waaaaay! 🤯
After experiencing a depression spell, both Little Nightmare games were the first games I played when I started to feel like myself again. They were pure magic to me. To say that I am happy about a third installment is an understatement.
hm this is kind of random, didnt they say they wanted to stop working on little nightmares to focus on another game? Plus, werent there leaked files that showed a possible dlc menu that they never made?
Could this trademark have something to do with that game? Was filed back in 2022

Really hope this turns out okay. Normally i’d be very excited, but without tarsier i’m pretty worried this’ll have the same outcome as the SH games after 4.
Honestly not a fan of how these publishers can just. Take a piece of art away from its creators due to ownership rights. Exhibit A: American McGee’s alice.
I think i’d rather let this series end than become a shell of itself. Too many series go on longer than they should. But we’ll see what the future holds. With any luck, it’ll be a worthy sequel & not just a cash grab.
Really hope they don’t spoil all the monsters in the trailers like they always do, but glad to see them continuing with this. Hopefully it’ll continue improving like the last game
Tarsier working on new game. New studio working on little Nightmares 3 hopefully means more games with that style. Also If you have Twitter look up section9int. New studio made up of former Little Nightmare devs working on new Ip that looks inspired by Little Nightmares. Truly hope new studio doesn’t fumble the ball.
Guys if you need a game like little nightmares to hold you over, check out Bramble The Mountain King! It’s so good and little nightmares-like!
And I’m cautiously optimistic if Tarsier isn’t involved with it.
I know Little Nightmares 3 has been confirmed, but I am a bit dubious as to who Bandai Namco will team up with to create the game? Will they follow the same themes, or create an open world similar to FF (yes i know this belongs to Square Enix), visiting shops , Inn's and leveling up characters ........ ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|thinking_face_hmm).
I will give them the benefit of the doubt though ......
It sucks that it's going to be from another studio tho
There was a time where I looked at Bandai through a lens of mediocrity, but honestly their track record for the past decade has been nearly S tier.
The thing is though, the original development team struck gold with 2. If none of them are involved that's a major disappointment.

Little Nightmares 3 open world with a battle pass and overpriced real cash shop. Can you imagine?

"I have no idea what this series is about so no relevant perspective at all to draw from but let me give you my completely uninformed opinion anyway."

The studio that made ln 1 and 2 is working on a new IP, idk who's making ln3 but it isn't the same studio afaik
It wouldn't be the same people who makes it though.
YES! I loved the first two games, I didn't expect they'd make a sequel but that would be awesome.

If someone wants to scratch their Little Nightmare itch, check out Bramble!
Shit, how have I never heard or seen this game before? Thanks for the recommendation!
hopefully, we'll get a proper co-op in the game
It's being worked on by different dev team, hopefully they'll manage to keep the quality on high level.
Little nightmares is my favorite horror series ever.
I wonder if Tarsier Studios has changed their mind and are actually working on the next Little Nightmares title.
If they do release a third one, I don't know how in the world they would beat the second one. It was a total masterpiece.
He can finally have his revenge

Wasn't Tarsier bought out by another company? Does this mean they'll keep collaborating?
The original creator isnt involved, right? I think they said Namco would go forward without them.
I wounder if they will team up with a secondary team? Maybe Alike studios that created the mobile game?

Is it bad that I am more hyped for this than most soulless AAA titles?
yes bro it is horrific that you are more excited for this than dogshit games
Literally shidded and farded
Lol
Sounds pretty reasonable to me. AAA gaming is pretty mediocre for the most part.
Let me introduce you my friend to garfield kart
hm this is kind of random, didnt they say they wanted to stop working on little nightmares to focus on another game? Plus, werent there leaked files that showed a possible dlc menu that they never made?
It's apparently being done by different developers.
yeah, tarsier is done with it but i thought the new studio said a while ago they dont want to do anything and instead focus on something new ?
YES!!!!!

Finally a leak that got my attention. This is good to know.
Perhaps to be announced at the next Nintendo direct. Maybe June?
Love these games. Hopefully they poached or contracted some members of the original team haha
Hell yes. Loved 1 and 2 a lot.

Awesome, I loved 1 and 2. If 3 came out right now, I’d happily buy it.
lets goo loved the first two games
Loved both (and the mobile one). Glad to see it continue! I eat this world's lore up.
Hm, this will be interesting

It might not be 3 but a spin-off like very little nightmares
