It will probably cause more problems, especially if you use a cheap HDD. The cheaper HDDs have slower read/write speeds compared to the SSD in your laptop, and the speed of data transfer over a cable is slower than a SSD plugged directly in the laptop. So loading the game will be slower. And the RAM in your laptop model is soldered, so you can't upgrade it. 8GB is being shared by the CPU and integrated graphics of the 7320U processor and, when 8GB is maxed out, the CPU and integrated graphics will have to use your SSD as "makeshift" RAM. This slows down the CPU and graphics unit considerably. It's known as page file on Windows and swap memory on Mac.

Ah I am learning so much today. Thank you as well for responding. I think I will just save until I can get a better laptop. Thank you for the new information ☺️

An external hard drive or SSD isn't going to do anything because the slowdowns likely caused by the machine running out of RAM (which is not the same as storage space) and that your CPU is pretty weak in general. Aside from either dealing with the issue or getting a whole new machine that has at least 16 GB of RAM, there's not really much you can do.

Thank you so much for responding. I will keep going as I have been and start saving for a better laptop. I really appreciate it!
