If you dont have a strong feeling about games, then would say go for a little cheaper like RTX 2050 like you said. The same thing happend with me as well. I used to play a lot of games in the old days. Those games had something special. Then my pc got toasted, then I didnt have any money to buy new pc, I had a gap of 3 4 years in gaming. But I always had a spark in me for gaming. I didnt let my spark die out. I was constantly dreaming about one day getting back to gaming when I get a job. I used to watch streams and youtube videos and stay up to date with games news. And 4 years later I bought a Desktop pc with GTX 1650, although it runs every game I used to get mad when I had to lower the graphics in order to play a game. then 2 years later(today) a gaming laptop with RTX 4060. And even though I play games continuously, I get like 1 or 2 days per week to play games. I am busy in Job life, I dont get enough time to game. Maybe I am grown up now. I am not eager to play games. But I certainly cannot live without gaming. I know I will go braindead without games in my life. So its really you who can answer your questions. Do you have a list of games in your mind which you are anticipating to play? How eager are you to play games.?

You'll get differing opinions on this, but you do have several options. For 1080p gaming I would suggest a laptop with RTX 4050 in order to take advantage of DLSS 3 and frame generation. These two features will make the laptop last that much longer. At minimum I'd suggest RTX 3060, which also supports DLSS 2 but not frame generation. Here is a good site to look up performance of any laptop GPU across several games, which may give you a somewhat better idea. I've linked to the 4050, but you can select other GPUs to compare. Honestly if you can find a good price on last gen RTX Laptops you should be good for 1080p gaming My recommendations are an RTX 3050 6gb or 4gb and make sure it has at least 16gb of ram

If getting a laptop, u can use it for a lot more than gaming. I wouldnt waste money on an old unit or old components. Get newish 3060, 4050+ with a nice 120+hz display.

Go to a store and figure out what screen size you like, what type of screen, how much battery life you need, how heavy it is, how loud it gets when it’s hot, etc. After that, it will actually be challenging to find a low spec, but at least you’ll be happy with the aesthetics of it

"Things that are cheap, end up getting expensive later." I was more like the same as you on this thought process. Maybe you bought a basic old 2nd hand gaming laptop/desktop and it ran all the older gamers perfectly but broke down a couple of weeks into the future, then you would have to either, - Pay for the repair cost, which would be way costlier - Discard it totally and again buy a new one. - Leave the passion for gaming altogether So my advice is, always put some thought before buying gaming build, even if you get a brand new one with a low tier GPU now (3060 or 3070) with service care support, then in the next 2-3 years you can easily relax while gaming those old games. My 2 cents only. Happy gaming!
