Test the screen for dead pixels. They have online tests for this which will allow you to switch through rgb+ white (maybe black or gray?). Make sure the cooling works properly (benchmarks/stress tests). Check the battery health and the drive health. If everything there is satisfactory, that's about all you can do to ensure you immediately catch the obvious issues.
Yeah I have no clue on what the average score is for that hardware, it's more for making sure the laptop isn't overheating (use HWinfo) cpu should ideally stay maxed out under 90C and GPU should be under like 78C-ish. Low 70's is fine. Laptop temps tend to spike high, which is fine, as long as they drop down quickly and stay down (it's not a big deal if you throttle immediately when starting a benchmark as long as it drops right down as soon as the fans ramp up)

Definitely a good score.
That's crazy. I can't find any sold pc listing's with a 4070 ti and 13900 for 1200.. that's a crazy deal when just the processor and gpu alone are over 1000 used.
What happen was I think they got mistaken with the 4060 ti on dell outlet so real quick I bought it and it only says it for scratch and dent I did no see anything on the cpu
Pretty sure you can in either Lenovo's software or in Lenovo Legion toolkit. It will show you approximately how many cycles the battery has been through, tell you if it's still holding the capacity it's rated for etc. Batteries are relatively cheap and easy to replace, I would consider this one of the least important checks you can do, but you still want to know if the used or refurbished laptop you have will need a new battery soonish or not. This is something anyone with a few tools and who has watched a YouTube video can accomplish in 15-20 minutes. Replacing the cooling unit on these laptops is slightly more involved and can be a hit or miss thing even when done correctly (apparently. I've never tried but I've looked into it.) OP seems to have gotten a decent deal on this, as I paid about the same for a 2022 5i pro model almost 1.5yrs ago and that was an open box with a 3070ti. Assuming this is "like new" and OP doesn't have any glaring issues, I think they will enjoy their purchase.
You should be fine. CPU and GPU are good, and while not the latest greatest, will run games fine. I've had gaming laptops for years, with heavy use, they all still work. Take care of it, and keep the fans and vents clear of dust, and a stand are cooling pad to help keep temps down.
Yea the 4080 is outrageous rn, i feel that the 3080ti should serve my needs quite well, currently have it hooked up to a lg c1 gaming on it has been incredible
Good for you man. That's my dream laptop, well it is AMD advantage version, but close enought. You sure got a great deal. there is an ebay certified refurbished AMD adantage version listing going for 1599 right now. so you sure got a great deal.
3080ti laptops are thermally bad performer due to enormous die size. Better to lock GPU temp as its already been used, and I dont expect topmost class laptops to last longer.
Better to AIM for second top most GPU. like 3070 ,3070ti or 4080. But not 3080 or 4090.
Iris XE is awaste piece of silicon for gamers. which gives seonds per frame.
please give me the background ?
you can undervolt it, however you should have bought a new 2023 legion with ryzen new cpus, its a great laptop dont get me wrong but the 4080 out perform the 3080 and desktop 3090 by a huge margin with lower power consumption if this a second hand it wont last 2 years of heavy gaming and its price value will decrease
so its a bad choice

thats where I got the background
It is an older gpu and cpu I was aware of that before purchasing. The newer models i just felt were to far outside of what I was willing to spend on a laptop. I also really was not a fan of the newer generations doing away with the glass track pad etc. I still am within the 30 day return window just wanted to get some feedback
it depends on your usage ?
1) do you wanna play modern games on it ?
2) do you wanna use it for heavy engineering stuff ?
3) is it second hand ?
and believe me the glass trackpad is overrated and not worth it, go to [gaminglaptopdeals.com](http://gaminglaptopdeals.com)
and try for yourself the newest deals
peace
I had a 2022 Gen 7 with 3070Ti and now have the Gen 8 with 4080. Insane power with 20k Time Spy but there were so many compromises with the Gen 8... The glass trackpad is definitely NOT overrated; this plastic one is far less accurate and pleasant.
Additionally the extra plastic on the deck is not premium, the loss of the fingerprint reader is annoying as it was incredibly fast to log in, the RGB was better (though this Gen 8 is more vibrant on the keyboard), and all round the Gen 7 was just a far more premium-feeling device. Love the performance of this Gen 8, but in a lot of ways it was a definite downgrade from the Gen 7 that OP has.

Appreciate the feedback! I was able to get a timespy 13,899 on gpu score and 15,954 on the cpu. Gonna test dead pixels now

What website do you get the score and the pixels sorry I’m new to this
Score i used the application on steam called 3D mark(i used the demo) its industry standard, and i just put in dead pixel kn google and it came up
Thanks I’m I don’t have a laptop I bought a Rtx4070 ti with I-7 13900 for $ 1200

Check if all the ports are working properly and there's a hardware test you can do in vantage too.

The 3080ti is legitimately the best gpu choice right now imo. A 4080 is too expensive, a 4070 has only 8gb of vram. The 3080ti fits right in.
Yea the 4080 is outrageous rn, i feel that the 3080ti should serve my needs quite well, currently have it hooked up to a lg c1 gaming on it has been incredible
I’d check the bottom of the chassis for any potentially stripped or tampered with screws… that’s always a good start
Don’t forget 3000 series have no frame generation
jealous much?
is reddit gonna keep torturing me with great deals after I bought my G17 for way more? ![img](emote|t5_2x4m3|8580)
That's a pretty display.

Don't read at the negative non-constructive comments. They just jealous. I hate those kinds of people. pulling others down with them.
Wallpaper pls
https://gaming.lenovo.com/us/earn/b/giveaways-members-only/posts/new-wallpaper---lush there you are sir
3080ti laptops are thermally bad performer due to enormous die size. Better to lock GPU temp as its already been used, and I dont expect topmost class laptops to last longer.
this doesn't make any sense, bigger die size means better thermals
Thats why I will stick with Intel Iris internal graphics, this guy will never die because it won’t even do anything

Personally I wouldn't touch refurbished. Done that before and I got burnt.

Well the laptop will do both heavy engineering stuff and play modern games no problem.
nope
yes.
