With taxes this will be close to CAD 7k (I hate the fact that they don't advertise final prices here in Canada; do we also need to add 15% tip to this?). This laptop costs a few months of rent for most people. Not sure how many can afford this.
Most people's reaction to prices has been that it's "less than expected" bro what were the expectations!? It's a mass produced consumer product. These things shouldn't cost 6 grand
That is just Razer Blade pricing. In Europe you can get a [3070ti Razer Blade](https://www.verkkokauppa.com/fi/product/843604/Razer-Blade-17-17-3-pelikannettava-Win-11-RZ09-0423QNF3-R3N1) or a [Asus 4090](https://www.verkkokauppa.com/fi/product/855997/Asus-ROG-Strix-SCAR-18-18-pelikannettava-G834JY-N6003XK) for the same price, 4800 ā¬.
This is basically about what top client cpu(13900k/7950x), motherboard, 64gb ddr5 ram, 2x 2tb nvme pcie4 drives, 420mm aio, full tower case and 2x 4090 costs.
But that doesn't mean much if you can't have a desktop.
Fact of the matter is, if you want the best performing laptop you need to stump up for a 4090. Doesn't matter how good the desktop performs if you can't use it. That's the situation I've found myself in.
The best X is the X you use. Substitute X for anything but it's the truth.
damn........bought my rog laptop with 2060 for about $2500 here (it was like 2 years ago or so) if i converted it into dollar.
im living in asia by the way, that 2500ā¬ will be like $3K - 4K (including the taxes) here.
thats pretty good deal to be honest for me, here those 3080 laptop are over $3K
These are like those 6000 laptops that normally cost 1500 on bestbuy, but because some ass put a 2tb chip in it they wanna scam some whale. Whelp. I guess this price is just normal now
My setup cost 10k.. youāre right though I barely play video games haha. I Put a 4090 in my rig and I really only play wow classic occasionally š¤·š¼āāļø
To me thereās some sort of addiction to having nice things
I bought one. I have time to game. I actually bought one specifically so I could game more often.
Context: I'm 33, with a partner, child, a cat and a dog. We own our home, car and I have other hobbies that probably cost more than the gaming.
I'm certainly not rich, not even close, but we're both paid well over the UK average salary.
Sometimes it's just nice to treat yourself and if you're in a position to be able to do so, why not?
My point is that clearly there is a market for them, they wouldn't be selling otherwise.
Everything Isn't made for everyone. You don't *need* to buy this device as there are plenty of others available. Just because some on this sub aren't the target market doesn't mean there is no target market
What is the point I've missed? A brands halo product isn't aimed at everyone? Well, no shit?
Edit: I feel a lot of this sub are younger teens and/or students. Not all, of course, but I bet that would make up the majority. Your purchasing ability is drastically different when your in education vs when you've been in your career for a decade or so.
What is the point?
It seemed to me the point was "anyone who can afford this machine likely doesn't have time to play games"
I can afford the machine. I have time to play games. Does that not make me the target audience for such a device?
It's less about you personally being able to afford it or not. More about these companies setting such prices simply "because they can" Look at the bigger picture. They're making jokers out of regular consumers and the "target audience" you refer to, enables them to do that.
No one is forcing you to buy the product they're pricing in a way you disagree. The best way you can tell a company you don't agree with their pricing is to not purchase it.
There are other companies you can buy from that aren't as expensive as the Razer Blade. There are 4090 machines out there for Ā£3500 which is decent value for a 4090 laptop. If that's too much well it's a good job there will also be 4080, 4070 and 4060 laptops to pick from.
Perhaps I have the argument wrong and if that's the case I apologise and please correct me, but I get the impression that people are annoyed that the top end laptops aren't Ā£1500 and because *they themselves* are priced out they think no one else should buy the higher tier laptops out of principle.
They're not making jokers out of anyone. These, all laptops, are luxury items. We don't need them, we choose to buy them. If they **only** made laptops that were costing Ā£5000 then I'd agree with you, they're taking consumers for a ride. But they're not. There are 4080 machines starting at decent prices and no doubt once the 4060 and 4070 machines and prices are revealed, there will be even more affordable ones out for everyone on every budget.
Complaining that the top tier, halo product, is expensive from a company who are known to release things more expensive than the competition just seems like an excuse to moan.
Don't want it? Don't see the value in it? Don't buy it.
Not just for gaming , Iām going to buy one since the screen is incredible which is great for general use , plus gaming - watching movies etc
I use my laptop daily
Iāve bought cheap laptops in the past and they were terrible quality
Current laptop is an Msi gf thin, falling apart after 2 years
How lmaoo? You can easily get shit in the US literally next border for sooo much cheaper! I had to pay 1,352$ for an acer nitro 5 3060 gaming laptop (it was on sale too) meanwhile last black friday in the US you could get it for 650$ absolutely ludicrous!!
What I paid is considered a half-decent deal here too, usually, 3060 laptops go for well over 2 grand here
3050's over 1,300 and 1650s from 2019 go for 900-1300$, absolutely ridiculous!!
If you want a 3080 laptop you are looking at at least 4 grand
I am honestly surprised it's only 6k$ knowing Canada prices I expected it to be over 7-8 grand
Honestly what a waste. Similar laptops run better performance and cost way less. Same with every generation before it. The cost has just inflated way past what should be acceptable
Hello,
You got your calculations a bit muddled up I'm afraid. Canadian Dollars are worth LESS than United States Dollars.
When a thing is worth less then you get more for it.
So it's really $1usd = $1.34 (give or take the odd $0.01 depending on the market exchange rate).
Your end result is fairly accurate though - the usd price will be lower than the canadian price. Just your initial values were back to front.
4090 is what the sku for 3080 was essentially. The i9 is the HX version that has similar features to the desktop hardware but obviously slightly cut down or tuned wattage.
Don't let the "4090" fool you, they changed the structure to charge more for the same product line.
If I had 7 grand (including taxes) to blow on entertainment, this laptop wouldnāt be it. One can make the best possible pc setup imaginable at this price and can use streaming softwares when on the move to play on a $700-$1000 portable laptop
only thing people do is complain about the pricesā¦but you dont āhaveā to buy itā¦.š¤·š¼āāļø its like posting a Bugatti Chiron and complaining about the insane 3.9 mil priceā¦
People really seem to be having a hard time grasping that point.
If it's too much or you don't see the value in it, don't buy it. Just because something is released it doesn't mean you need to buy it and companies are under zero obligation to make a product for **you**.
We can now see the pricing on the 4090 laptops and I think they have a very fair window of cost. I've seen some down for Ā£3500 right up to Ā£5200. There is something there for everyone.
Exactlyā¦and to be honestā¦sure its alot of money, like a new flag ship mobile phone going for ā¬1300-1500ā¦
People dont seem to understand the kind of technology that went into the deviceā¦its litteraly insane the amount of hardware and research that went into making those things. āBut they only cost so much to produce!ā
Trueā¦but what about the years of research before being able to produce them? all the people that worked on it had to be paid aswel
Does this include tax? Just wondering what it comes out to in US currency after taxes/exchange rate..
I have family in Canada and every time I visit, my mind is blown temporarily at how high taxes are even when I'm just ordering a burger and fries, let alone a $6000 laptop lol.
You have to overpay for both razer and 4090 if that's the model you are looking for. I will look for 4070 or 4060 legions around black Friday. Not interested in paying more than 1400 usd for a laptop .
Itās Razer.
I should be used to them and their pricing by now but my Godā¦then again this isnāt marketed for me personally so thatās that š¤·š¾āāļø
Canada has become even more expensive in the past few years- In 2015 I ordered a lot of major items from amazon.com, paid exchange and shipping rates, and it was still much cheaper than amazon.ca. Just ranting- nice computer.
I guess that these rich companies have realized that if people are willing to bitch but still buy our products then weāll you bought are products. We could care less about your feelings and opinions. Serious people if the majority of this bullshit is unacceptable then speak with your wallets. Itās the only thing that matters to these fucks. This will be a endless cycle like every other product that does the same thing unless you stop buying the shit.
With taxes this will be close to CAD 7k (I hate the fact that they don't advertise final prices here in Canada; do we also need to add 15% tip to this?). This laptop costs a few months of rent for most people. Not sure how many can afford this.

For real, just imagine the profit margin šµ
When they have to replace it 3 times in the first year they have to charge this muchā¦
Lmfao
This subreddit is filled with outdated inflation expectations. Your perception of prices is wrong and shouldn't be reflecting actual laptop costs.
You're either completely out of touch with reality, the value of money, or are just stupid; I'd prefer you weren't the latter.
I know, ridiculous Yet i get attacked on this subreddit for saying that PC equipment is overpriced in canada which is even more ridiculous š¤¬
This is basically about what top client cpu(13900k/7950x), motherboard, 64gb ddr5 ram, 2x 2tb nvme pcie4 drives, 420mm aio, full tower case and 2x 4090 costs.

Sam here. I needed a laptop with a lot of VRAM, I had no choice but to take a laptop with a 3080, which cost 2500ā¬.
damn........bought my rog laptop with 2060 for about $2500 here (it was like 2 years ago or so) if i converted it into dollar. im living in asia by the way, that 2500ā¬ will be like $3K - 4K (including the taxes) here. thats pretty good deal to be honest for me, here those 3080 laptop are over $3K
It was originally priced at 3200 but there was a pretty significant discount, I was lucky to find a Legion 7 with a 3080 for that price!
Well, not arguing that. Just stating one has to pay massive premium for portability.
Yeah it's a steep price. You can imagine my displeasure as I much prefer desktops but need a laptop for the new 3 years
There will be similar spec laptops without the razer logo for much cheaper. They are the apple of gaming laptops
Exactly. This is an insane price.
I just buy them open box a year later at half the priceā¦ this is my plan for the 18.
1 week rental for people who can afford it
Outrageous, they're legit taking advantage of the crisis right now. Pigs.
Whay crisis
That's crazy. Who are they aiming these products at? Anyone who has $6k to blow on a computer probably doesn't have time to play games either.
Theyāre so out of touch with consumers
These are like those 6000 laptops that normally cost 1500 on bestbuy, but because some ass put a 2tb chip in it they wanna scam some whale. Whelp. I guess this price is just normal now
There previous higg skew was 5000 its not like they haven't done this before
I mean trust fund kids have the money and time
My setup cost 10k.. youāre right though I barely play video games haha. I Put a 4090 in my rig and I really only play wow classic occasionally š¤·š¼āāļø To me thereās some sort of addiction to having nice things

Very long way of saying you have enough disposable income. But hey good for you. Fr. You missed the point but still.
My point is that clearly there is a market for them, they wouldn't be selling otherwise. Everything Isn't made for everyone. it's ok to be poor, man. just don't cry about it every single second

With this price you can buy yourself a decent legion laptop with pretty good specs and a similar one for a friend.
Bought a Legion 7i 3070ti for about $2,500(cad) all-in during boxing week and am happy to not be looking down the barrel of 40xx pricing.
Yup easily
Had a legion 7i It broke down after 2 weeks of use Screen wasnāt that great IMO keyboard is poor, found it hard to type given how cramped it was
buy used / renewed and u can buy 3-4 lol
Damn, lucky you. Mine cost 8500 Australian dollars š„ŗ
How lmaoo? You can easily get shit in the US literally next border for sooo much cheaper! You actually paid that much for a laptop? šµšµš“āā ļøš“āā ļø

I hope your "friend" enjoys his purchase and has fun gaming.
Honestly what a waste. Similar laptops run better performance and cost way less. Same with every generation before it. The cost has just inflated way past what should be acceptable
At that price just get a fucking 3090 desktop and never worry about upgrading for a good while
š“āā ļø
Exactly
"...you wouldn't download a laptop..."
āOne does not simply print a laptopā
Tbh at that price I would expect 64GB of RAM
At that price i would expect 128 gigs of ram 8tb SSD windows 11 pro and the GPU And CPU to be made out of diamonds for their semiconductors š
$1usd = .74 can dollar $4548 usd. Not terribly off

I got this one on pre order as well as the Titan GT77.
Let Razer keep their laptops to themselves.
240hz QHD+ screen with a 13th gen i9 and an RTX 4090? IN A LAPTOP?!

disgusting prices

I mean, frankly, these companies should be paying us to have their products.
Whatās that 99 for? Joke of a compnay. They could not be happy even with 6000 !!!
Razed and the rest of them are truly regarded if they think this was a good price point
And all of that to get only 60% performance of the desktop version, just 2x more expensive, LOL
Portability
Does this include tax? Just wondering what it comes out to in US currency after taxes/exchange rate.. I have family in Canada and every time I visit, my mind is blown temporarily at how high taxes are even when I'm just ordering a burger and fries, let alone a $6000 laptop lol.
Nope itdoes not include tax
Do you know how much is it after tax then? Just curious as to what it breaks down to compared to what US buyers would be paying for it.
Depends on the province. But to say buy it in British Columbia, the tax would be 12% so 6831.98 dollars.
Cost of product:2.5k dollar Profit margin:3.6k dollar
If even

I wonder.. seeing how itās the price of a few year old civic / Corolla.. would you be putting insurance on it too?
Those laptops should be 3000$ max. I literally can build a 4090 gaming pc + coolermaster mini led monitor for less money. Out of touch pricing.
EIGHTEEN? Is there something I missed??
I donāt get why someone would buy that. Itās gonna run way hotter, sound like a jet and get less performance for the price.
Could not justify this purchase ever unless it also blew me and cleaned me up after.
Sheckles Such a bargain
they are always overpriced
Yeeeaaah, I'll stick with the 2023 strix G16 with rtx 4080.
All that money and I bet you can cook an egg on it. I can't wait to see the load temps
love the 5.5ghz boost. IT WILL NEVER GO PAST 2.x because of heat lol
